Morika Villa

We had the most amazing stay at Villa Morika. Every member of staff was incredible, genuinely warm and welcoming, and made us feel like the villa was our own home. It's a place that will stay with us forever. The views over the mountains and water are beautiful, and the food was delicious, always served quickly and with care. My partner had quietly told the staff he was planning to propose, and they put together the most romantic dinner for us on the cliff to celebrate. It was honestly one of the most special experiences. We're so grateful we got to stay at Villa Morika, and to all the staff who made our holiday so memorable. Couldn't recommend this place enough. 🫶🏻✨🧚‍♂️

It was extremely peaceful, clean and comfortable and the staff were outstanding. The restaurant was excellent with delicious, fresh food. The shared kitchen/ living room was a huge asset. Great view, pool and access to a beautiful, quiet beach. We absolutely loved our time at Morika Villa.

Das Personal war so freundlich und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Auch die Kommunikation und Hilfe beim Suchen eines privaten Fahrers hat super geklappt. Die Ausstattung war auch spitze und in gutem Zustand. Wir waren traurig, dass wir nur zwei Nächte gebucht haben.

Beautiful villa. Ontzettend lief en behulpzaam personeel, die er alles aan deden om je verblijf zo prettig mogelijk te maken. 10/10 voor het personeel. Ook de menukaart in het restaurant was bijzonder uitgebreid. Het verwondert ons nog steeds hoe ze alles zo goed en snel konden bereiden in de keuken.

Niets viel echt tegen, maar we hadden niet goed gelezen dat je de woonkamer van de villa deelt met andere mensen. We kwamen ze amper tegen, maar dit gaf toch wat weerstand om daar even te gaan zitten of relaxen.

I absolutely loved my stay. The location was perfect, and I especially appreciated the peace and calm of the place. A very special thank you to the entire staff for their kindness, warmth, and amazing service. They truly made the experience even more special. I would definitely come back!

Geweldige villa met prachtig uitzicht over pantai Rua, hele rustige plek. We verbleven hier 3 nachten en personeel was ongelofelijk aardig en behulpzaam. Heerlijk eten en veel te zien in omgeving.

Het ligt wat afgelegen en je hebt auto met driver nodig om er te komen maar dat geldt eigenlijk voor alles op Sumba.

The biggest highlight was the amazing staff. Everyone was incredibly kind, welcoming, and always ready to help with a smile. They truly made our stay special. The food was also excellent—fresh, delicious, and prepared with great care. The location is peaceful, with beautiful ocean views, making it a perfect place to relax.

As a small suggestion, a little more variety at breakfast for long-term guests, along with a few more tropical plants and some warm ambient lighting, would make the villa even more beautiful.

I’d like to start by saying that the staff at Morika Villa were exceptional, I sadly fell sick whilst I was there for a few days and the staff were so kind to me. They checked up on me and made me ginger tea throughout my stay so as I got better. The food I managed to eat whilst there was again exceptional. The owner of Morika Villa should be very proud of his staff as they went above and beyond during my stay. The sunrises from the villa were something I could enjoy from my bed which i was also very thankful for.

Communication before arrival was prompt. Arranged airport pickup service and day tour on the way to property was excellent-safe driving by Welldy. Arrival meet and greet was wonderful with a cold coconut. Our bags were carried to our villa and we were shown around. ordering food and drinks via whattsapp was easy and prompt. Great pool. Great beach Great view over beach.Food was great, and considering there are no other options , a great relief. Outdoor shower wonderful and clean. AC was fantastic. Bed and pillows super comfy

The only tiny fault was having to choose between a coffee and a juice for breakfast. I think for the price both should be included.

L’accueil du personnel qui est aux petits soins. Très attentifs aux besoins, ils répondent volontiers tiers à toutes nos questions ! La vue incroyable sur l’océan est aussi spectaculaire ! Mention spéciale pour le levé du soleil visible depuis son lit !

Beautiful location, great spot to watch sunrise and the sea throughout the day. Wonderful villas with all amenities you would need for a comfortable time. Spacious rooms with lots of light.

Staff tried their best to provide as good a service as they could, but you could tell most were very inexperienced and probably just out of hospitality school. Service was inconsistent, with sometimes being excellent and others falling short of basic expectations (like leaving dirty dishes and used cups for hours around the pool area before removed). This comment is meant to be for their improvement and not a complaint, as it was obvious they were trying, just not always knowing what is the right thing to do.

Stayed at Morkia for 17 nights. Food was great. accomodations beautiful. modern and clean. Staff went above and beyond to ensure I had eveything I needed during my stay. So welcoming and friendly! Thank you to Vivi, RiRinn, Beatriks, and Desna who assisted me in one way or another everyday. You are amazing so very grateful!

We had an amazing stay! The villas were pristine and the view from each room was incredible! You could watch the sunrise from bed. The food was outstanding. It was honestly the best value for money and the most peaceful villa you could possibly imagine. Thank you to all of the Morika Villa staff for going above and beyond for us. Absolutely nothing. It was incredible. So clean and the most breathtaking view

Everything was amazing and it almost felt like we were in a private villa (saw 3 other guests at some points). You can see sunrise from your bed. The room was spotless and had flowers upon arrival. There was a shared living room with a full kitchen. We loved the food at the restaurant. The hosts Fifi and Ririn were amazing- always greeting us (even at 6:00 AM), giving us tips. The staff was very professional and friendly. Not everyone on the island speaks English, so that was crucial. They gave us contact information for scooter rental, airport transfer and a guide. Beware the false other locations on google maps, Villa Morika is located by the sea (the one with most reviews). If your driver also cant find it, write Fifi and Ririn on Whatsapp (they are very responsive). We liked the location, as we could drive with the scooter to surf beach and most tourist spots. Our tip- if you want to chill at your room and just use the kitchen, buy alcoholic beverages at Bali airport, as there are no alcohol stores on the island. Small grocery stores, more cafes, souvenir shops and ATM is a 30 min drive. Or just use the restaurant- they have everything.

I had such a fabulous stay here. The staff are all absolutely adorable and kind and super attentive. Thank you Ririn and Fifi and Desna and all! My room was spotless and the bed very comfortable and the view was spectacular. there is a lovely outside bathroom. The pool was really fantastic, and you could look out over at the stunning view to the beach and hills beyond. The water really warm and I swam a lot even though I'm not normally a pool person. You can walk down to the beach below either via the rocks which are a little bit slippery or a shortcut through the forest. The beach is really wonderful.. On a Sunday, all the locals come down and train their horses, swim, and surf and I've never seen so many happy people in my life! It was wonderful to get a taste of the local culture . I did a tour to Ririn's local traditional village, which I highly recommend. Much better than the other traditional village where you have to pay an entrance which was not so special at all. The tour took us to some of the beaches which were glorious. All in all, this is a fabulous place to stay and all the people who work here made it really special. I appreciated the water filter in the kitchen next to the room!

Although they went out of their way to make me some vegan dishes, it would be good if these were part of the everyday menu. The shampoo and body gel product does absolutely not match the quality of this hotel. They really need to provide decent shampoo and soap! Not that it mattered very much, but I found it challenging to get Wi-Fi anywhere outside the Restaurant area.

That there were only limited rooms and the sunrises and sunsets were stunning. The staff were absolutely exceptional the female staff were so accomadating as a women travelling by herself they made me feel very safe and comfortable. I will be back to stay!!

The staff were exceptional, they were so helpful with tours and local information. Rooms were spacious and very comfortable. Views were fantastic and the atmosphere very quiet. Our food was so fresh and well prepared. All the facilities were in good condition and well maintained.

It was clean and pretty, just as you see it on the pictures. You can see the amazing sunrise over the ocean from the Villa. Foremost, the staffs were just so genuinely lovely - they are so nice, friendly and helpful, they always try to accommodate you, cared about how you are doing, and even arranged guides/drivers that were costumed to meet my needs. The guides/drivers they arranged were so lovely as well. You cannot just go out to eat (it’s the nature of this island - big and intact nature), but the food was wonderful, lots of selections - local Sumba food and other food - so I was very happy with having dinner at the hotel every night. I really really loved the place and the staff, they definitely helped me fall in love with the island! Truly highly recommended!!!

Exceptional stay with amazing Service! I loved my stay in Morika Villa. The room/ bathroom and Shared Living Space is really modern, comfortable, private and spacious. Outdoor bathtube, sunbeds on terrace, pool and big sharing living room including Kitchen. Food Menu is nice, food quality and Prices really good. You Can also Order food to the Room or eating in the Shared Living Space. Amazing sunrise- Perfect view from balcony or pool sunbeds. I came with rented Scooter. I would definately coming again!

Last Meters to the Villa are more difficult to Drive but no worries: it’s worth it!

Wij voelden ons hier helemaal thuis! Het personeel is echt fantastisch! De villa's zijn van alle gemakken voorzien en zien er luxe uit. De gedeelde woonkamer in het midden is super handig. Je hebt een volledige keuken tot je beschikking. Het zwembad met het uitzicht is adembenemend! Ik kan het iedereen aanraden om hier te verblijven!

De weg ernaartoe is wat uitdagend, maar ook dat past bij dit eiland en het heeft zo ook zijn charme.

Abbiamo trascorso un soggiornodi 4 giorni, meraviglioso! Lo staff è stato eccezionale: accogliente, sempre disponibile e davvero cordiale, facendoci sentire come a casa fin dal primo momento. La cucina è stata una vera scoperta — piatti deliziosi, preparati con ingredienti freschissimi e grande cura nei dettagli. Ogni pasto è stato un piacere! La posizione è fantastica perche isolata e immersa nel silenzio, comoda per visitare se si Nolleggia uno scooter o con driver organizzato dallo staff, la zona e con una vista mozzafiato che rende ogni momento speciale, soprattutto al sorgere del sole. Un’esperienza impeccabile sotto ogni punto di vista. Torneremo sicuramente e lo consigliamo a chiunque voglia vivere un soggiorno rilassante, autentico e di altissimo livello.

And that happened because of the incredible staff. From the very first moment, we were welcomed not as guests, but as family. The team here doesn’t just take care of you, they share their world with you. They taught us about Sumba culture, traditions, the local language, the stories behind the land, and the spirit of the island. Every conversation felt meaningful, warm, and genuine. It is difficult to put into words how deeply this touched us. The villa itself was stunning, beautifully designed, cozy, and spotlessly clean. Waking up to the open horizon and the sound of nature felt like a dream. The atmosphere is peaceful and pure in a way that is hard to find anywhere else. The beauty of Villa Morika is undeniable, the views, the sunrises, the raw nature, the deep silence. But what makes this place truly unforgettable is the heart behind it. The staff cooked for us with so much love, guided us with patience, laughed with us, and created moments that felt almost sacred. We have traveled to many places in the world, but Sumba is special. Villa Morika is special. And the people here are the reason. We are leaving with full hearts, deeper understanding, and the feeling of having gained something meaningful. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié le calme, l’accueil du personnel, le confort du bungalow, la piscine. La partie salon/cuisine pour éventuellement cuisiner était très pratique. Magnifie vu sur la mer et le lever du soleil est sublime. Le restaurant et les petits déjeuners sont très bons. Nous avons d’ailleurs beaucoup apprécié l’espace restaurant.

Les prix restent chers pour l’Indonésie. C’est assez isolé, dc pas le choix de prendre, soit un chauffeur privé, ou louer un scooter pour faire les alentours, où les prix pratiqués sont encore une fois trop élevés pour l’Indonésie.

Neue, super saubere Zimmer. Das Personal ist ausserordentlich freundlich und kümmert sich um alle Belange in sehr kurzer Zeit. Sie haben uns zum Abschied noch Kaffee aus Sumba mitgegeben, wir waren sehr begeistert. Die Anlage ist neu und sehr sauber, der Pool ist auch toll, aber warm, weil den ganzen Tag der Sonne ausgesetzt. Das Essen ist hervorragend und nur zu empfehlen.

Es ist eine Betonlandschaft und es gibt überhaupt keinen Schatten. Das Fehlen von gemütlichen Sitzmöbeln auf der großen Fläche, machte es doch ungemütlich. Preis/ Leistung nicht so gut.

Habitaciones grandes, cómodas y decoradas con buen gusto. Tiene una zona común con cocina y zona de estar. Frente a la piscina y con vistas al mar. Posee restaurante donde poder disfrutar de la comida local. Desayuno muy sabroso y variado. Personal muy atento y educado.

Al estar aislado, es necesario alquilar una moto, pero me sorprendió el precio pues fue muy superior a lo pagado en otras zonas de la isla.

As pessoas são realmente queridas e esforçadas para que tudo corra bem. A vista do alojamento é linda e os quartos realmente espaçosos. Comunicação muito fácil com o staff. O staff é o que mais sobressai no alojamento. Muito prestáveis, preocupados com o hóspede e interessados em servir bem.

O hotel fica em frente à praia mas atenção. O acesso direto é para uma zona que não tem praia. Tem que se andar mais de 1km até chegar a zona de areal com qualidade. Como em qualquer lugar em Sumba, as deslocações não são fáceis portanto programem bem as vossas saídas pois é praticamente impossível sair do hotel sem um guia ou driver. O alojamento não dispõe de tours nem tem parcerias com nenhuma empresa de tours no entanto conseguem dar-vos contactos de guias locais.

The view at the sea was very nice and the beach is reachable through the built path down or you can take an easy stroll through the woods. If you continue your walk, you will reach the beach area, where you can expect more of the white sandy area. For swimming it is better to stay on the side, where the boats are located, as after the jetty, there are some dangerous underwater swirls. We stayed in villa 1 and 2. In the middle you can find a connecting spacious living area, equipped with a kitchen, fridge, water dispenser and coffee+tea. The beds and cushions (not too compact) were very clean and comfortable, the bath room (great outdoor shower + tub) has shampoo and soap dispensers, so you may travel light. The restaurant offers tasty western & local dishes (we liked the moringa soup + kapu'u salad) and they even grow their own vegetables, which we found great! We found it best to inform the restaurant slightly in advance, which dishes we wanted to order. As villa Morika only has four villas in total, it is very private. You may expect to only hear the nature and the waves, there were no roosters, dogs barking or motorcycles. We enjoyed it very much.

Perhaps some more space to dry the bathing suits.

Ce n’est pas que nous n’avons pas aimé, mais juste pour vous « prévenir » qu’à Sumba tout est assez éloigné, il faut en général 30 min de route pour se rendre à un autre endroit / restaurant, nous avons loué un scooter à l’hôtel, la route pour y arriver est en terre mais ça va quand même, ça ne dure pas tres longtemps ! Mais c’est bien de savoir que c’est un hôtel assez isolé :)

A Villa Morika et fan sentir des del primer moment com a casa, les intalacions un 10, hem dinat i sopat al restaurant de l’hotel varis dies i tenen molta varietat de menú. Habitacions immillorables. La pisicina sempre tranquila, neta i amb unes vistes espectaculars. El seu personal és el que més podem destacar, la Ririn i els seus companys ens han cuidat com si fóssim la seva família.

Empezando por las vistas , impresionantes amaneceres todos los días desde tu propia cama . El hotel solo tiene 4 habitaciones, por lo qué es muy tranquilo, sin ruidos , solo las olas del mar . El personal es de lo mejor que hemos encontrado en Indonesia , que en todos los hoteles fantásticos, pero en este especial , nos trataron como si fuéramos de la familia . Son un equipo fabuloso , y eso se trasmite . La comida fantástica , te hacían lo que pedías sin poner ninguna pega . Si algún día podemos , volveremos , seguro .

Estuvimos 5 noches y la verdad que estuvimos como en casa. Es un hotel nuevo y se nota, está todo muy bien cuidado y decorado con gusto. La habitación es enorme y el baño también, la parte de la ducha y bañera al aire libre, muy bonito. El desayuno variado y muy bueno. Y puedes comer y cenar, nosotros solo cenábamos, ya que, a mediodía estamos de excursión, la cena muy variada y buena. Coincidio el Día de la Independencia con nuestra estancia y fue muy bonito, ya que, el hotel organizo unos juegos y merienda para los niños de la zona, toda una experiencia ver lo felices que eran y un gran detalle por parte de hotel. El personal de hotel es de 10, muy atentos, siempre pendientes de que estemos bien, cada día cuando cogíamos la scooter para nuestras excursiones nos preguntaban por la ruta y luego que nos había parecido. La ubicación buena, a ver las distancias en Sumba son largas, pero por ejemplo para ir a las playas de Morica, Wate Bella, el pueblo de Praijing, las cascadas y campos de arroz de Weekacura puedes ir en scooter.

La struttura affaccia sul mare … è’ possibile fare colazione proprio lì davanti oppure ordinare i pasti e ricevere il servizio in camera. Lo staff è così gentile , ci hanno accolto con grande entusiasmo dal primo momento. Si sono presi cura di noi durante tutto il nostro alloggio a Villa Morika. Il ristorante offre dei piatti buonissimi . Torneremo sicuramente ❤️

The staff and location are absolute highlights of our stay. We were here during Indonesian Independence Day and were included in the activities of the day. It was a highlight.

Be aware of the location - it’s gorgeous but you will need to think about how you are going to get around. Otherwise the villa is nice to spend the days as well.

Lo mejor de 2 semanas en Indonesia en 4 hoteles distintos en Bali Gili y Sumba.

Emplacement fabuleux, chambres très bien équipées, personnel très bienveillant. C'est un petit hôtel un peu isolé, comme souvent à Sumba, mais le restaurant est de très bonne qualité et on peut profiter des lieux.

O Staff absolutamente incrível. Ajudou a organizar um jantar de aniversário surpresa e superaram todas as expetativas. Estava tudo delicioso e foi mágico. O local tem uma vista magnífica, os quartos são super confortáveis e limpos, muita privacidade e tranquilidade. Apenas 2 edificios com 2 quartos cada, entre cada 2 quartos há uma sala de estar com cozinha. É possivel fazer as refeições neste espaço ou no restaurante (comida excelente). Todos os quartos com vista para o mar e nascer do sol soberbo, bastou abrir a janela e nem foi necessário sair da cama para assistir a um verdadeiro espectáculo da natureza. É possível descer umas escadas com acesso exclusivo à praia. A melhor estadia em Sumba e das melhores estadias na Indonésia.

Tudo incrível!!! Pena que só ficámos 2 noites.

Its important to keep in mind the villa is, like most places in Sumba, somewhat isolated and with difficult access- be sure to arrange cars or scooters in advance and be prepared for a lot of bad roads.

Staff were beautiful and extremely accomodating. Beautiful location & the rooms were super clean. Outdoor bathroom & tub was a highlight!

Heerlijk luxe, kleinschalig, heerlijk zwembad, prachtig uitzicht, super behulpzaam personeel. Ze hebben zelfs onze was gedaan. Je kan brommertje huren en tours regelen. Dit laatste hebben we niet gedaan dus kan ik niets over zeggen. Het uitzicht over de zee en strand, vanaf het zwembad is prachtig. Bij eb komen de locals zeewier uit zee plukken. Bij het diner kregen we deze als een heerlijke salade. Het eten is ook goed. En vraag vooral wat ze aanbevelen! Ze hebben een eigen groentetuin en de kokkin is nog vrijgezel😜 Tot slot, de kamer is supergroot en schoon en de badkamer is geweldig met een buitenbad en douche.

Absolutely nothing

Fantastic villa, only 4 villas very spacious clean and Private, the staff are amazing and really take an interest in looking after you. Food was very good with good variety. We will be back with a few more friends and family. Someone commented about the road in, and how bad it was, it’s actually not to bad as far as Sumba goes, we hired a scooter from the Villas and really explored the area. We would have stayed loner but unfortunately they were booked out. 5 nights was not long enough.

Leaving to another villa was the worst part of our stay.

Our family had a great stay at Morika. The staff was wonderful, the food was excellent and the facilities and view were amazing. The pool was a good size and well designed. The rooms were all very clean and was a good size. There is a trail to go down to the beach via a trail and you can walk to Rua beach. The security and safety measures are good as well. Thank you and we will definitely be back!

Can't think of much I didn't like. Perhaps having a car/taxi through the Villa would be nice.

La villa es preciosa, las vistas al mar desde la habitación son increíbles y el desayuno delicioso. Pero lo mejor de todo es el personal que trabaja en Morika...todas las chicas son maravillosas! Fuimos de luna de miel y no dejaron de sorprendernos con un montón de detalles, hicieron que nuestra visita a Sumba haya sido aún más especial. Gracias en especial a Vivi, Ririn y Asih.

La personnel si attentif et accueillant (Asih, mais aussi Ririn, Vina, Desna, Edei- nous sommes accueillis comme de la famille), le cadre magique, lever du soleil inoubliable et situation exceptionnelle, des plages extraordinaires et sauvages (pourvu que cela dure!)

Lovely spacious rooms, stunning pool view, peaceful, incredibly friendly and helpful staff.

We hired scooters from the airport to ensure we could get around the area, which is what I’d suggest fellow travellers do as you will need to drive to get to most locations from this property.

Tienes unas vistas increíbles, el personal super atento, muy limpio todo. Y sobretodo comida super fresca y muy buena, buena calidad.

2泊しました。 景色最高。目の前から朝日が昇る。プール前のベンチは日陰でとても気持ちの良い風が吹きます。 隣の部屋が空いていたので、共有のキッチンが占有できたので凄くラッキーでした。スタッフの方のWhatsAppのレスポンスも早く便利。おすすめの場所や旅行会社の紹介もすぐしてくれた。

お湯の出が悪くてせっかくのバスタブが使えない。 夜ライトに寄ってきた虫がプールに浮いているので、朝１回清掃してほしかった。
