The place is way up the hill and it was not convenient to walked up. We got an agreement with the landlord to arrange a taxi for up and down.

Es war schon sehr außergewöhnlich mitten im Dschungel, und die Aussicht war hervorragend. Das Frühstück war einfach, aber lecker und das Abendessen war auch gut. Toll fande ich, dass frische Produkte verwendet wurden, die auf dem Gelände produziert wurden.

Der Weg zu der Unterkunft war unfassbar steil, so dass man ihn nicht mehrmals am Tag gehen wollte. Gerade abends wurde man auf dem Weg sehr zerstochen. Schwierig fand ich auch, dass man die Unterkunft nicht abschließen kann und sie sich quasi oberhalb vom Essbereich befindet. Privatsphäre war daher wenig vorhanden und man hatte nachts ein etwas ungutes Gefühl. Wenn jeder quasi die Räumlichkeiten betreten kann. Die Moskitonetze waren für das Bett zu klein. Hier sollte man dringend ein größeres Moskitonetz nutzen.

Une vue incroyable et une villa avec du charme.

Nous avons constaté un gros manque d'hygiène (serviettes de bain avec des taches, moisissures dans le frigo, draps de lit sale). Tout cela nous a fait douter de l'hygiène dans la cuisine, et nous n'avons pas tardé à en ressentir les effets. Le personnel est serviable, mais il y a clairement eu négligence sur le ménage.

Das Zimmer ist sehr minimalistisch eingerichtet. Es hat nur 1 Kleiderschrank der so stark riecht dass es unmöglich ist dort Kleider zu versorgen. Das Essen ist jeden Tag das gleiche. Immer Reis, Hühnchenbein, Fisch und Salat. Das Frühstück auch immer gleich. Tost, kein richtiges Brot. Nur 1 Marmelade, löslichen Kaffee und Früchte. In der Nacht wecken die Hähne einem schon um 3Uhr. Unmöglich zu schlafen. Die Unterkunft ist viel zu Teuer !! Um die Unterkunft zu erreichen muss über einen sehr steilen Weg zu Fuss 15 min. hochgegangen werden , also nur für fite Person möglich. Wer es gerne sehr sehr einfach mag und 1 Woche immer das gleiche Essen möchte und sonst keine Ansprüche hat ist hier richtig.

Wer Dschungelfeeling und Natur erleben möchte, ist hier an der richtigen Adresse. Ist eine Erfahrung wert. Personal ist sehr bemüht und freundlich.

Über Booking kam teilweise über längere Zeit keine Rückmeldung.

Tolles Frühstück u.a. mit Früchten aus eigenen Garten, haben noch nie eine so leckere Mango gegessen. Hervorragendes Abendessen u.a. mit dem schmackhaftesten Fisch der gesamten Insel (Sternemäßig!). Die Lage war fantastisch, ein atemberaubender Ausblick, besonders aus den oberen Freiluftzimmern mit Blick auf das Meer und dem umliegenden Urwald. Der Hausherr Gerard ein ganz besonderer Mensch. Ein Unikat! Das freundliche Personal war stets bemüht alle Wünsche zu erfüllen. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt!

Sehr ausgefallene Zimmer und Gästebereich. Sauber & und nettes asiatisches Personal. Das Frühst. bestand aus einfaches Toastbrot, selbstgemachte Marmelade, frische Obstteller, Eierspeisen zur Wahl sowie Kaffee oder Tee. Das Abendessen war ein kl. Buffet, einfach aber gut & lecker. Ab dem 2. Abend gab es keinen Weißwein mehr! Schade dass andere Getränke wie Bier oder Cola etc. nicht angeboten werden. Keine Klimaanlage dafür Ventilatoren.

Der Aufstieg dahin war sehr steil. Das muss einem bewusst sein!

Täglich gleiches Essen mit wenig Varianten. Extrem steiler Zugang zur Unterkunft !!!

Die Aussicht und die Lage sind Magisch. Die kleinen Zimmer eher dunkel aber die beiden Zimmer im Dach sind offen und sehr geräumig. Keine Insekten und Mega chillig.

Rien. Le transfert aller-retour depuis la jetée est inclus. Pour les autres accès, il faut une condition physique correcte pour monter la petite route assez raide depuis l’océan jusqu’à la maison.

On.a aime l'architecture bois et le côté Robinson et la vue magnifique, le repas surtout le soir qui est très bon. Le personnel est adorable et fait ce qu'il peut.

Pas de taxi à l'arrivée, l'information n'était pas passé et l'on a du attendre un moment avant que quelq'un vienne nous chercher au port. Le propriétaire n'était pas là et sa présence a manqué. La côte pour rentrer le soir est très raide, ce qui fait faire du sport mais on hésite du coup à le faire plusieurs fois par jour 😉

Établissement sale , infecté d'insectes,très bruyant,inconfortable.pas d'eau le matin.petits déjeuners et repas médiocres.Futurs clients ,ne vous laissez pas charmer par le point de vue soit disant idéal. Le rapport qualité prix s'apparente à une arnaque.Ne vous laissez pas berner. Facile de trouver beaucoup mieux pour moins cher.

It was nice, and we really liked the hosts.

Please think three times before booking, because you really do have to climb very high to get there. After doing it once in the evening, you definitely won’t feel like doing it again. Our room didn’t have a door — I’m sure no one came inside, but still, the fact remains. Animals did come in though; for example, a cat with fleas wandered inside, and during the night two cats had a full-on fight in our room. In the morning, next to the bed, there was a dead mouse. Overall, it was definitely an interesting experience :)

Be aware that the walk up to the property is quite steep and can be challenging, but it is certainly manageable and ultimately worthwhile for the sheer beauty of the natural surroundings.

Das Abendbuffett war sehr gut. Das kleine Doppelzimmer war groß genug. Wer diese außergewöhnliche Location bucht, weiß was auf einem zukommt.

Der Anstieg zum Haus ist definitiv nur für Sportler geeignet, da extrem steil. Man nimmt diesen Weg nicht 2x am Tag in Kauf. Die Hühner und Hähne wecken dich um 4.00 auf, unbedingt Ohropax mitnehmen.

Нам все очень понравилось: в первую очередь, это сам номер и великолепный вид из номера, вкусные завтраки и ужины и очень вежливый персонал! Видно, что все на вилле сделано с любовью и с душой. Вилла находится в тропическом саду, поэтому всегда слышны звуки птиц и насекомых. По вечерам, сидя на террасе, можно было услышать шум океана. Также на территории живут домашние животные, в том числе черепахи. На вилле нет привычных дверей и окон, и это делает ее уникальным местом. Тем, кто любит природу и просыпаться под звуки природы, безумно понравится! Мы хотим когда-нибудь вернуться сюда снова! ♥️

The view was amazing and it felt very secluded and relaxing.

Cats on the beds / in our rooms at night without any option to close our room to protect ourselves against them. Rooster and chickens were rather noisy during the night.

Un paradiso incontaminato senza tempo…dove il profumo dell’infinito è più intenso…dove il mare è “padrone”...senza spiegazioni…da sembrare una costellazione marina…Tutto questo anche all'ospitalità d'altri tempi di Gerard ed il Suo staff, avvolti da un giardino botanico ...che Ti regala quello che cercavi e non trovavi..."il respirare per una volta la libertà"!!!

...qui la natura è così genuina ...che difficilmente si può migliorare artificialmente...Ma una cremagliera in armonia ed integrata  con l'ambiente potrebbe diventare un'attrazione per l'isola...magari con mio progetto ingegneristico!!!...A disposizione!

Nous avons apprécié la navette, l'accueil et la générosité de l'hôte ainsi que la végétation qui entour la propriété. Le cadre est très beau.

Malheureusement, l'expérience dépend grandement de la chambre que vous avez. Ceux qui sont en haut doivent avoir une vue complètement incroyable et on aurait aimé avoir une autre chambre mais tout était complet. La notre donnait sur une partie commune où il y avait du passage, ce qui fait qu'il n'y avait aucune intimité. Nous ne pouvions par exemple pas rester dans la chambre avec une fenêtre ouverte. Nous étions obligé de tout garder fermé et donc il faisait très très sombre. Nous pensions que notre terrasse était privée mais non, tout le monde peut y accéder. Attention, il y a des poules et une dizaine de coqs qui chantent dès 3h du matin.

Het prachtige uitzicht vanaf de kamer, het ontzettend lekker eten,zowel het ontbijt als het avondeten, en het zeer vriendelijk personeel. Dikke dankjewel aan Gerard en Amanda die ons altijd hielpen, klaarstonden voor een praatje en zelfs de coctail om 18u30 elke dag naar onze kamer brachten. We kregen ook een cadeautje mee naar huis vanuit de eigen tuin en kregen de eerste avond oordopjes voor de overlast van de kippen smorgens. De taxirit naar de accomodatie en naar de ferry zijn inbegrepen dus dat is zeer fijn! Bij aankomst stond er water koud in de frigo en kregen we een welkomstdrankje. We konden gratis een late check-out doen dus dat was top!

De kamer heeft geen deur naar het verblijf dus iedereen kan (in principe) in en uitlopen. Ook stond het wc papier gewoon op de rand van de balustrade zodat het altijd een verassing was als er smorgens iets in het rolletje zat of niet. De stappen naar de kamer zijn niet verlicht (of wij hebben dit niet gevonden?) dus het licht van je gsm komt goed van pas en in de badkamer is 1 lichtpeertje waardoor, in het donker, het niet mogelijk is je op te maken savonds. Denk eraan dat de weg naar de accomodatie zeer stijl is en dat dit toch wel een bekliming is na een dagje fietsen en zwemmen, zelfs voor mensen die regelmatig sporten en midden 20 zijn.

Unglaublicher Ausblick und toller Vibe

Ein Aufenthalt in der Secret Villa ist ein wahres Erlebnis. Wir waren bereits das zweite Mal dort und genauso begeistert wie beim ersten Mal. Der kurze und steile Weg lohnt sich und man ist in ein paar Minuten oben. Dafür erwartet einen ein üppiger, riesengroßer Garten und eine urige, umvergleichbare Unterkunft. Unbedingt die großen Zimmer buchen, von dort hat man einen fantastischen Ausblick!

Die Atmosphäre... sehr gut um zu entspannen. Das Essen war super.

Very secluded and in the nature.

Early wake up call by the roosters and other animals meaning at 5am you are starting to wake up with the sunrise.

It’s very remote and located in the beautiful garden. The food is very tasty and it is prepared from fresh ingredients from the garden. Room itself was amazing, we were lucky ang got upgraded to the bigger apartment with an excellent view. Owner was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place very much.

The service was outstanding, and the staff were incredibly helpful. One of the biggest highlights was the secluded location—peaceful and with very few people around. The view from the premium room was absolutely breathtaking.

The only downside is that getting back from the beach requires walking up a steep hill, so a decent level of fitness is needed.

I loved the staff, the entire place is just perfect for connecting with nature and disconnecting from the world.

It’s like staying in the middle of the jungle treetops. Absolutely fantastic! Especially staying in the open rooms like Sinbad! It comes with all of the jungle one should have in mind. The sounds, early light and warm breeze comes with the package which add to the charm😉

It’s a 100 meters above sea level so after beach includes a steep walk but you also get the view and ambiance afterwards so not really complaining. Good food but a bit repetitive if you’re staying more than two nights.

L’atmosfera, la vista e lo staff

The place is uniquely located in the heart of the island. The villas are at open air keeping you very in touch with nature. The area of the villa hosts the secret garden with several animals rescued during years (such a giant bat and big turtles) and with two amazing view points to have a 360 degrees perspective of La Digue surroundings. Gerard is a great host always able to give fantastic tips to discover the unconventional La Digue. The staff is very nice and the food was AMAZING!

Not an issue for us (family with 2 teenagers) but the road to reach the villa is super steep. So, probably not so convenient for very old or very young people, unless you always use a transfer.

Walk uphill is hard (but the view is worth it, don’t miss the sunset spot as well;)

Gerard was helpful on site. Unfortunately he couldnt help on the most important issue, which is that the room we paid for was double booked and we were downgraded to the room without the view.

We paid for the most expensive room with sea view but we only got the cactus view when we checked in to our room. They double booked the king room and decided to downgrade us without telling us anything. Ridiculous promise of compensation. The room was supposedly similar price (they said they will reimburse the difference but ultimately didnt even do it, not that it would have made any difference anyway) The thing to know about this place is that yes it does offer a certain experience but at a great cost. It is logistically a nightmare if you have any other activities planned on La Digue since it is one of the worst location you can get. It is not accessible by bike and far from everything else. And “nature experience” also means little comfort. You also can hear your neighbours as if they are in your room. You will also for sure get some insect visitors and the ambient humidity. While we were totally expecting that, not having the sea view we paid for (that was the only thing that can justify the prices tbh) + the way we were dismissed as “just a mistake that happens sometimes unfortunately” by the person who handled the booking just made us feel that this was a total rip off (and an expensive one). Just cant recommend a place like this

Beautiful views from our room of the gardens and the island. The food was very tasty and plentiful and the staff were kind and helpful. It was lovely being out in the natural environment, and had lots of space for our family.

one of the best accommodations I've had in my travels. If you're looking for peace, quiet, contact with nature and an amazing Creole atmosphere, then you should definitely stay here. although there's a very steep driveway to the house, even if you overcome the ho for a few sections, climbing to the top to the wooden house will give you incredible joy and respite. The hosts are very open. They cook their own meals (buffet) including desserts. They serve juices, wine, water absolutely amazing place. I hope to come back here someday.

Amazing, there is nothing to add! So quiet and in midst the jungle with attention to the customers. Very personal experience with a lovely host who is such an amazing person. If you want to relax and get the real Seychelloise experience, this is it! Note, that it is a nature hide-out, so don't expect luxurious whirlpools or a spa :)

We really enjoyed having breakfast, which was tasty every day. The location was great we had a totally bonkers amazing room that had the most amazing view of the whole bay up in the rainforest. The owner is really lovely and friendly. Its super quiet. You get a cocktail served to your room. The dinner that you get is really tasty creole food. We loved the fish. Its so quiet and beautiful here, we would highly recommend! Anse Severe beach is nearby and just a 25 min walk, which is the best beach if you want to go shore snorkelling. We saw loads of lovely fish here. You can also hire a bike too which is a cheap and fun way to get around the island. There's a place just right of the ferry where you can get them, but most places hire them out. Restaurants can be a bit pricey, but we were recommended Natural Bar, and also there's a little shack kiosk to the right of the ferry that sells the best chicken creole curry for just a few pounds. SO much nicer than any of the restaurants and we went and sat on Anse Severe beach to eat them. Most of the bikes have little trays on the front so you can easily cycle around. Chez Jules is a great place to go but we didn't get to go there, and the worlds most famous beach is easily accessible by bike too. We went in monsoon season which means all of the beaches on the west side were completely not swimmable due to big waves and strong currents... BUT Anse Severe was perfect as it was fringed by a coral reef creating a lagoon like safe water. Highly recommend the snorkelling trip to the nearby islands, we saw a few manta rays, turtles and even a reef shark.

The hotel is up a mountain, or it felt like that as you have to walk and hike up 320m up a very, very steep incline to get to the hotel. You need to be extremely fit and healthy to do the hike, so not really a negative at all. We could have been much fitter, no-one else seemed to have any issues, but if you can't do the walk, you can get taxi's that go up the incline. You may need to tip them though.

Very nice design of the place, feels as if you are on an old romantic wooden ship, but on the top of a jungle cliff, with an unbelievable view to the sea and surrounding island. The host was very friendly, and helpful, and the food was home made.

Good, albeit pricy for that style and level of amenity. It is romantic, and secluded, but it's not a 5 star resort, hence it shouldn't come at the price of one.

I house was beautifully made. and living in a open room with no doors and closed window was an interesting experience, since it rained and a part of the room received that rain. But never felt that our privacy was at risk. Also The height and the green surrounding make you feel like you are in a remote lush area. The sunsets and sunrises were beautiful.

The hike to the villa was very steep and since I had a fear of climbing up or down steep road (trauma from an accident), I found it difficult. While I did the climb and descend but still I had shaky legs and was almost crying at the end. Definitely not for someone with similar fears or limitations. They do provide a taxi to take you up with extra charge.

Everything ! The location in the middle of the jungle, the view, the cleanliness, the food and the mood and of course Gerard the boss. It was perfect for my honeymoon. Merci infiniment Gerard !

It was an amazing stay. Gerard and his team have a beautiful place - it’s so picturesque.

The only comment I would say is if you don’t like a steep climb up to the property then you might find it challenging but because it’s so secluded we didn’t mind the extra effort.

The location of this guest house is really unique inside the "jungle". The guest houses are made out of all natural elements, very well thought-out and lots of work invested. The breakfast and dinner were always delicious, healthy and plenty. The crew was really kind and always helpful. Our host Gerard was great to talk with, very positive man with lots of great stories. He also offered us a free upgrade just to make us happy, which we really appreciate and made our honeymoon even better. Our room was spacious, very unique open spaces to the nature, large balcony where you can relax with a nice free coctail after an exhausting day. Lot's of work is invested into this villa every year. If you like nature, I highly recommend Secret Garden Villa, you will not be disappointed.

The location is really up high on the hill, it is a hard walk every day, which is not for everybody.

MAGIC!! if you are loking for quiet nature and original experiance ? - do not search any more. Only you have to be fit tu climb up... We are comign back for sure....

- This is not "what I didn't like". Food is OK but some plates were a bit spicy for children. Staff cooked non-spicy food for them. I did appreciate their flexibility, actually. - Since it is very open space, we cannot stop insects coming in... - Again this is not a complaining. If you want to enjoy nice landscape, you have to go up! Steep slope to the villa was really good exercise...

No air conditioning, only fan. Very humid and hot, make me feel that I’m paying for camping in jungles, not enjoying my vacation. Steep climb from main road to villa.

A dream come true in the jungle. The rooms are very thought through, comfortable and yet special everyone in its own way. Ours had a bathroom in the middle of a huge granite rock. The view was great, you also have a lookout just a few minutes of walk away. Breakfast and dinner were very good, a lot of fresh fruit, vegetables and fish. The staff was very friendly and kind. We loved the location, far away from everything and also in the middle of a wonderland of flowers, plants and wooden cotages. Keep in mind though, that from the main road you have to walk cca 7 min on a very steep road, that can get a little slippery during rain. But if you are at least a little bit capable of walking uphill, you can do it. All in all, we would definately recommend!

There is something really poetic in this place. It takes few days to your nerve system to figure there’s nothing to be worry about. After that, your soul starts to sing. There hasn’t been many times when man amazed me, but this place really did that. It was honour to be here and I think that's the only way to approach this place. Big respect. Food was amazing and Gerard and his staff was so kind and lovely. Like Carl Sagan once said:”I love no man less, but nature more.”

”No worries”- We Europeans don’t know how not to worry about everything! 😅

Stunning view from the terrace! The atmosphere is really intimate due to the limited amount of rooms - 5 only. Dinner is cooked by the host. Super delicious local food buffet. Small selection but everything was tasty. I liked the papaya salad most. For dinner are water and wine included, before dinner a cocktail is served on the terrace. All the stuff is helpful and very friendly.

The way up to the property is steep and a good fitness level is required. (No dislike, just a note) If it’s raining and the humidity is high, the wood is giving an intense smell. We informed the host and got scented candles which helped.

The experience at the secret villa was amazing! as it's name it us a secret garden in the mountains walking distance from the beach. the staff is wonderfly helpful, friendly and professional. the place was all hand made by Jerra .the Aladinn villa is unbelievable! tropical garden and secret lookout points all around (including a pond and even turtles) food was fesh and good. Heplful staff did we say? for example we rented bikes and in the middle of a long ride had a puncture. we sent a message and in no time a new bike arrived! it is an authentic experience . Only thing to know it is a very steep climb from beach front. only possible by foot or the jeep that brought us from fairy and back... we loved every moment here!

The host and staff were excellent and food delicious, especially enjoyed the evening cocktails brought to our room

An amazing and unique experience staying in the "Robinson Crusoe Lodge". A beautifully constructed room in the jungle made from local wood. The breakfast and diners were good made with high quality local produce. Gerrard and his staff looked after our every need. Fantastic views, a jungle trail with giant tortoise and fantastic views. All round an excellent experience. A must if you come to La Digue

We absolutely loved the property, its location, cleanliness, privateness and the staff. It was the perfect place for our first days of vacation on Seychelles. Also the food was amazing - locally sourced and fresh.

It’s design and the way it’s with the nature

Feel part of nature! within the forest with amazing views. the service was amazing- with great dinner, and a filling breakfast. the host was engaging and his team were naturally friendly. would have loved to stay longer! the walk to the villa is a little challenging- but worth it. stunning views, and friendly pets!

We loved this place. Secret Villa is placed on a hill top with amazing views, surrounded by jungle and trees with delicious fruits. We really manged to disconnect from our daily lives and enjoy the laid back lifestyle of the island. Staff is amazing and it is doing their best to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Also both dinner and breakfast were equisit. Everything was freshly prepared using ingredients from their own garden.

We liked everything. Just as an info, the hill is pretty steep so a fair phisical condition is needed. But it is all worth it. :)

No doubts that the accomodation is worth to go there, but better to consider in advance that - the access road is really steep, even not by bike ( but we could keep at the beginning of climbing) - there is no airconditioning in the room

Ask for Robinson Crusoe appartment. Beautiful view, nature all around you + romantic accommodation. Coctail every day at 18:30 served in your room. Fantastic breakfasts and dinners (wine is included). It is really very special.

10 minutes exercise to reach the villa on the top but then you are like in paradise

Breakfast was great, as was dinner which was part of the package. Given the location at the top of a very steep climb and being away from any shops / restaurants etc, dinner in was ideal and really well done

The property is a secluded little spot on the mountain side, if you are a a nature lover and love to be out in the nature it’s just perfect.

The use of all the natural wood and design of the place.

Amazing building that merges with nature. It truly is a very special accomodation so we can recommend it especially if you are looking for more of an adventure. The breakfast and dinner was plentiful and very tasty. We were also upgraded to a larger room in the upper building.

Shower was (mostly) cold. No windows means no AC, the ventilators did not help much during sleep.

We had one of the wonderful rooms overlooking the sea and island and it was just spectacular. We were so happy with the room and also the staff that we would definitely come back if we ever get the chance to go to LaDigue again. Breakfast and dinner were also great, we loved it.

Since this property is a bit further away from the action we think it would be approppriate to include the rental of the bikes in the room price and not have to pay extra (although it wasn't a lot) for it.

We especially liked that the property was secluded and surrounded by jungle. We also liked it’s quirky and relaxed vibe.

Gerard and his team were super friendly and left us feeling always very welcome. The food is superb.

Unfortunately we were not lucky with the weather (raining and cloudy) and that meant that everything became damp and not as enjoyable since it is very “open air”.
