Residential Hotels Helsinki Penthouse

The host communicated very well, replied quickly and kindly allowed us to check in earlier, which we really appreciated. The instructions for finding the apartment and collecting the keys were very detailed and included a helpful video. The apartment had everything needed for a short stay: dishes, tea, coffee, coffee filters and even milk in the fridge. The coffee maker was excellent, and the TV and entertainment system were very good, so it was pleasant to relax there in the evening. The bathroom was also stocked with many useful products, including shampoo, shower gel, dry shampoo and body lotion. The location is convenient, especially for visiting Linnanmäki, which can be reached quite quickly on foot. Overall, it can be a suitable option for one or two nights if you do not need much space.

The key box is located quite far from the apartment entrance, so it is important to watch the instructions and collect the keys before walking all the way to the building. We only checked this when we were already near the entrance, walked past the key box and had to go back. Although the host had allowed us to arrive early, this information had apparently not been passed on to the cleaner. When we entered, she was still in the apartment and asked us to wait outside for another ten minutes. We also found her lying on one of the already made beds, which did not create a very good first impression. The apartment is much smaller than it appears in the photos. There is almost no storage space apart from a clothes rack, and there are no convenient surfaces for personal belongings, especially in the very small bathroom. As two women travelling together, we had to keep most of our things in our bags throughout the stay. The sound insulation is extremely poor. We could hear people walking and even very small noises from outside, which made us feel uncomfortable and also overly conscious of not making any noise ourselves. The apartment was generally tidy, but the bathroom floor did not feel properly cleaned, and the toilet seat was already coming loose. The checkout and cleaning rules were also written in such a strict and detailed way that we felt anxious about leaving anything in a normal "lived-in" condition, even though we always clean up after ourselves. Finally, some of the information in the listing appears to be outdated. For example, we were looking forward to visiting the ramen restaurant shown in the photos, but it was no longer there.

It was really clean and a nice place overall

Cocina (equipamiento y limpieza mejorable)

I had quite a nice stay at this property. The best thing for me was the location. It was incredibly easy to get around Helsinki from here. The metro station is literally across the street, and there are also plenty of trams and buses nearby. It takes only a few minutes on the metro to get to the main station, so you could literally leave the door and be right in the centre of Helsinki in less than 10 minutes. There are also plenty of good places in the vicinity, you are spoilt for choice when it comes to restaurants, cafes and supermarkets. I also liked the way the hosts communicate with guests, and I have to say that making a short video on how to access the property is genius! A nice touch was the Moomin mugs, bowls, and plates :)

Some downsides were that the flat was rather small, particularly the bathroom. It wasn't a big problem for me as I was just a solo traveller, but it wasn't as comfortable, and it definitely would be a little difficult if you were 2 people. It could also get a little noisy when others in the building were using the elevator. I guess you just get used to it if you live there, but it did wake me up on several occasions. Some ideas to improve: a smaller light near the bed would have been nice, and some cooking oil in the kitchen.

Its location is OK - close to the metro at least, but near a square with drunks and drug dealers.

I did not like staying here at all. When I got in, the apartment smelled very bad. It was musty and mouldy and I needed to leave the window open all the time for all four days. The pictures on Booking.com are far too generous for the bleak apartment that you will have before you. The “luxurious silk linen” they say you will get was not clean and I don’t think it had been changed from the last guest (there were long hairs on the sheets). In general, I don’t think much cleaning is done between stays - maybe some light tidying up. There are no amenities in the building at all - no gym, no sauna or spa, no view - nothing. For this price, you can almost get a hotel with these amenities. At the very least, you can stay at NOLi which has more to offer. Don’t expect to get good sleep: the bed is too soft and bouncy, and there will be loud music from the street all night (on the weekend). The Wi-Fi is slow so work will be tough, plus there’s no desk. The appliances were basic. The bathroom was small and kind of dirty with a small shower and shower curtain.

The apartment is really nice and well equiped, there is a lot of shops and restaurants nearby, so you can get anywhere and eat anything pretty easily. Despite many very small details that I didn't like, I would still definetly consider booking this apartment again.

There was quite a lot things, that I didn't like, but everything is only small details that can be avoided or overlooked. The probably worst detail I found out after being told (and finding myself right after), the nearby metro station and close surroundings are occupied almost nonstop with drunk/other influenced people (this is not issue of the apartment itself, but it's really unpleasant to find out if you don't expect it), but luckily if you go to the other direction, the area is normal, so it's avoidable pretty easily. Another small detail was a bit small shower even for small guy, so bigger people (both height and width) can have a bit of issues. Another very small detail is not having any insect protection net in the window, which is pretty important in Finland in the summer.

The place was sparkling clean, the bedding was also clean, could be changed too often.

The environment , too busy

Big TV and hot water

Everything! You are so good at lying.... 1. Did you buy a ticket for me? (I’m just asking you!!!) 2. When will you help me buy food???? 3. There is no garbage bag in the toilet trash can!!! As a professional traveler who loves cleanliness, I keep the kitchen cleaner than you! Liar!!! Is it so difficult to admit your mistakes? Be a man!! This apartment really has a lot of real problems that need to be improved. 1. I don’t know if my requirements are too high or others’ requirements are too low? 2. There are seriously insufficient plugs in the room and the distribution of wires is messy. 3. The kitchen tabletop is full of items and there is a serious lack of space. It is impossible to use it properly. Even washing, cutting and even cooking is a big problem and will cause a lot of trouble. （Never believe the photos posted on the website. The one with an empty kitchen table is fake.） 4.The storage cabinets and dressing rooms in the room are full of miscellaneous items. Travelers have no place to put their clothes and belongings. There are only two small spaces next to the table where you can put things 5. The small table in the room just one computer and a book almost full. When you have food ready to eat, you have to move everything out or you don't have anywhere to put the food. 6. The most exaggerated thing is that there is no place to hang a bath towel in the bathroom. After taking a shower, you may have to walk naked to the room to wipe yourself. 7. If there are any advantages here, I can only say that the first TV is big and the second is the hot water. Apart from these two points, there are no advantages. 8. The laundry room located on the first basement floor makes people feel creepy. It is really a terrifying experience.

Convenient location for transport links. Warm, clean, great hot shower.

Very clean and great size especially for the tourist just to come back the room to sleep.

It was a little bit cold.

A good tutorial video and all the information we needed upon arrival. A very welcoming and nice host!

Very approachable host who was happy to help when I struggled with the door lock. Comfortable bed and good blinds, kitchen had everything I needed. right next to the metro station.

The shower design means the floor gets wet, so a towel for the floor would be good. But otherwise all good.

Location was on point considering we were at a festival at Suvilahti, everything is available at short walk: metro, market, bar, restaurants.. Apartment was everything we needed: to get good rest (peaceful building and nightlife wasn't that loud), have little kitchen area for breakfast and get cleaned up for next days festivals :D I would go there again!

It was quite hot, but hey, it's summer so it did'nt bother that much and we kept widows open at night while sleeping.

The owner is very responsive and helps when we have questions, the room is small but well equipped! We had everything in need and appreciated beautiful moomin dishes and cups.

Apartment as described. Loved the Moomin dishes :)
