OR Tambo International Airport is just a few minutes drive away. I had an early flight out and the host dropped me off at the airport at 0400hrs.

The unit is very small, two people with two bags, there wasn't much space to move inside and it was also very warm!

A bit difficult to communicate with the host. We had to wait in front of the gate, because the host did not pick up the phone. Although we had notified our late arrival time upfront. Very small room, bit smelly.

The property is listed as a 1 bedroom apartment but it was a small studio. All the facilities listed such as dining table, oven, washing machine, dryer, hair dryer, toiletries were nonexistant. They offered to do laundry for an additional charge but we were expecting a washing machine to do our own so we hand washed our laundry

Reviewed Oct 2, 2025Very comfortable stay close to the airport. Benjamin picked me up and dropped me at the airport the next day. It was convenient using their shuttle services even at the extra cost, it was a 5 minute drive to the airport. Good communication on WhatsApp.
I liked everything - but if you really like your coffee in the morning bring your own as there is only instant and rooibos.

Checking in was not great. Stood outside the gate shouting for attention from people in the main house. It took long to get a response. Meanwhile we are freezing outside the gate at night. I was a day late arriving (was constantly sending updates), my booking was fully paid. It seems my arrival was not expected

Reviewed Jul 11, 2025The Benjamin Accommodation is simply sublime. Aesthetically pleasing and comfortable. The water is always hot, which really helps in Johannesburg winter. Not to mention the amazing hospitality that Benjamin & his wife show. This was my second time back and I really felt at home. Benjamin was always eager to help and his communication is impeccable.

The toiletries and teas were missing. So on our first night we showered without soap and in the morning we had no teas. We never met the host to do a quick orientation upon arrival. All the people we met to assist us were third parties who didn’t have answers or solutions to our concerns. We were actually assisted by the maid from the main house. I had made a request via email prior to our departure indicating that we were going to delay checking out by one hour due to a change in my flight itinerary I had received. I was frustrated to receive a response by WhatsApp on the morning of my departure that I just had to vacate by the stipulated time. Communication could have come earlier since I had made my request well before and was willing to pay.

Bed a bit hard, perhaps add a mattress topper. No coffee, milk, sugar, perhaps provide 4 sachets for arrival and next morning if you dont want to put con tainers with coffee/sugar and small milk. Put a postbox to return keys if you have to leave early/late so you dont have to disturb hosts.

Room size was small. I could not do my daily yoga exercises. Nearest store was 800 meters away. I had to use Uber service even for breakfast.
