Espaço lindíssimo e confortável, tanto a casa como o espaço exterior. O Tiago foi sempre muito simpático. O pequeno almoço é muito bom e completo.

Besonders gefallen hat uns der Manager Tiago, der uns alle Wünsche erfüllt hat. Auch die, die nicht zum Service gehörten. Das Frühstück war liebevoll und schmackhaft und reichlich. Die Aussicht von der Terrasse und von unserem Zimmer waren phänomenal. Das Hotel war voller Charme, erlesenen Geschmack, mit vielen schönen Details. Wir haben uns sehr, sehr wohl gefühlt.

Perfekt!

Fantastiskt charmigt litet slott med en intressant historia som ligger vackert på sluttningarna ner mot Duorofloden. Men det bästa var personalen, Tiego som skötte stället var en fantastisk person som gav allt för att vår vistelse skulle bli så bra som möjligt, han kom tom och hämtade oss sent på kvällen efter ett restaurang besök. Hans ljuvliga 4 hundar bidrog oxå till trivseln.

Nossa estadia na Casa Altamira foi simplesmente maravilhosa! O lugar é encantador, com uma vista privilegiada, localização excelente e uma proposta rural muito aconchegante, que nos fez sentir em casa desde o primeiro momento. O grande diferencial, no entanto, foram os anfitriões Tiago e Alexandra. Que pessoas incríveis! Sempre atenciosos, sorridentes, acolhedores e cheios de carinho, nos receberam como se fôssemos parte da família. Conversas agradáveis, cuidados em cada detalhe e uma hospitalidade que marcou nossa viagem. Saímos com o coração cheio de gratidão e já com saudade deles. Com certeza voltaremos e recomendamos de olhos fechados a todos que buscam não só um ótimo lugar para se hospedar, mas também uma experiência calorosa e humana.

Nada más llegar los anfitriones ya estaban esperándonos . Nos hicieron una visita guiada por toda la casa , contando la historia de ésta . Es entrar y el olor que respiras ya te hace sentir como en casa y la amabilidad y hospitalidad de Thiago y su esposa es un plus que no ofrece ningún alojamiento y es muy difícil de encontrar hoy en día . Buena gente , súper preocupados porque el huésped se sienta a gusto y no le falte de nada . Ahí es donde ves que viven por y para su trabajo y jamás les falta una sonrisa. El lugar es muy tranquilo perfecto para desconectar . Te trasladas a otra época . Viajamos con nuestro niño y fueron súper amorosos con él y él disfrutó muchísimo con los perros de la casa que son muy buenos y tranquilos . La mujer se desvivió porque no le faltara de nada al pequeño regalándole dulces y galletas . Ese detalle ya nos conquistó al 100%

No tengo queja de nada

De accommodatie is echt uniek en is gelegen in één van de mooiste delen van Portugal: de Douro-vallei. Ik werd gastvrij en vorstelijk ontvangen met mijn Volvo-"koets". Zie de foto (!). Het ontbijt was uitgebreid en alles voor een goed ontbijt was aanwezig. Broodjes, beleg, koffie / thee en ook jus d'orange. Leuk om te vermelden is dat het ontbijt ook bestaat uit vers fruit uit de eigen tuin. Ik was bij toeval de enige gast in dit kleine hotel en had daardoor de volgende ochtend de hele ontbijtzaal voor mij alleen. Het ontbijt was luxe en ik had ook alle tijd om hiervan te genieten. De tijdsmarge was ruim en ook daarbinnen had ik alle ruimte om hiervan lekker te genieten! Geniet hier van de rust, de tuin, de verschillende terrassen, het uitzicht over de Douro. Dit is echt wat Portugal zo echt maakt.

A special place with loads of history.

It’s a bit remote. Would be nice that on location there was an option for some food (or even delivery) and a great wine offering. Because it would be nice if the whole party can just drink Douro wines on the terrace without needing to drive for dinner later.

Os funcionários são verdadeiramente 5 estrelas, em especial o Tiago. A localização é fantástica, acordar e olhar pela janela parece saído de um postal do Douro. Tudo estava impecavelmente limpo e organizado, e o pequeno-almoço é simplesmente maravilhoso. As fotografias não fazem justiça à beleza deste lugar. Ótimo para todo o tipo de grupos, desde crianças a adultos, e os animais dão um toque especial que torna este cantinho no Douro ainda mais mágico.

Sem nada a apontar.

Foram dois dias incríveis, o Tiago foi super simpático e atencioso. Excelente sítio para descansar e relaxar. Bom pequeno-almoço, quarto super limpo e boas comodidades. Os animais super bem cuidados, e adorámos a companhia canina. Sem dúvida que é uma experiência a repetir e a voltar a este espaço incrível.

This property and the management staff (husband and wife duo) were simply heavenly! From the time of booking to our welcome on through to our departure, we were made to feel welcome and like extended family. The room accommodations were lovely; the breakfast was outstanding; the property grounds including the sheep, chicken, turtles and dogs gave you a feeling of being inside a Disney movie. We definitely look forward to returning.

Beautiful property, complete with panoramic terrace, a small vineyard olive and kiwi trees, goats and chickens who lay the eggs you eat for breakfast. Tiago and Alessandra made us feel like family and are proud of this heritage site.tiago made sure we were comfortable and made a brilliant, fresh breakfast. Upscale newly renovated facilities.

Casa Altamira was a delightful surprise — a charming old building in the middle of a tiny village along the Douro River. The location is stunning, with peaceful views over the countryside, mountains, and river. The couple running the property are warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming, which made our stay feel personal and special. That said, there’s room for improvement. The mattress and pillows were not comfortable, and a fridge in the room would make a big difference, especially since the property has no restaurant and the village itself offers little within walking distance. While there’s an effort to give the house an aristocratic touch, some details (like the doors, closet etc) feel dated. Breakfast leans toward the rural side, which suits the countryside setting, though it could be refined to match the charm of the place. Overall, Casa Altamira is a peaceful rural getaway with lots of potential — and with a few thoughtful upgrades, it could truly shine.

First things first, Tiago was beyond great in making sure we felt like home even prior to check-in. Tiago and Alexandra introduced us to this immaculate property/palace full of grace, comfort and heritage. They were available at all times and without such remarkable customer service this experience would have not been so unique.

With a pool that it’s on its way, and perhaps a gym this would be top notch 5 star boutique hotel

Casa Altamira was unlike any hotel we’ve stayed in—it felt more like visiting my rich relative’s countryside cottage than staying at a guesthouse. For the first time, I truly understood the meaning of “hospitality” in a foreign land. Nestled in nature by the Douro River, its setting was stunning and peaceful. My husband and I booked five nights with breakfast, hoping to balance the city life of Porto with a countryside retreat, not realizing what a treasure we had chosen. Our experience began the moment we arrived. Even though we were early, the manager, Mr. Tiago, welcomed us warmly and offered either rest or a guided tour. We chose the tour, which felt like walking through a living museum. The villa, dating back to the 1800s, showcased family photos, antiques, and stories of winemaking. The grounds were just as charming, with terraced gardens of grapes, kiwis, berries, and tomatoes, along with sheep, chickens, and three affectionate dogs—Magy, Cacau, and Fausto. Breakfast was a highlight. The dining room glowed with sunlight, our table beautifully set with our names, and every dietary request was remembered throughout our stay. It was personalized, thoughtful, and unlike any hotel breakfast we’ve had. Evenings brought their own magic—we spent nights on the terrace watching the stars and city lights. With Tiago’s recommendations, we explored hikes, river beaches, canoeing, boat trips, and excellent local restaurants, where he kindly made reservations for us. What truly made Casa Altamira unforgettable was the hospitality of Tiago and his wife, Alejandra. They cared deeply for their land and guests, blending professionalism with genuine warmth, generosity, and humility. We felt at home, cared for, and incredibly fortunate to have discovered this gem. Thank you, Casa Altamira, Tiago, and Alejandra—you gave us memories we’ll treasure forever.

It would be nicer to have see-through glass in the room's balcony to enjoy the view better while sitting (I know this this too much but not a bad idea). It would make it better if the hotel maybe had access to transportation cars/companies to drive guests to different locations in case they do not have their own car (for extra fees of course). It would make it easier to offer guests, maybe a one-night dinner on the terrace in case they do not want to go out every time for dinner during their stay (for extra fees of course and pre-reserved).

Tiago (the manager) was really friendly, and the semi-rural nature of the hotel really lets you relax - just walking around the gardens with the dogs and Tiago is a great way to come down to earth. The three dogs are all very welcoming!

The breakfast was only so-so, with a big focus on sweets (fruit, brioche, jams, sweetened juice, flavoured yoghurt). The pillow was incredibly high, which made it hard to sleep.

Tudo absolutamente magnífico. A casa e os quartos são lindos e muito limpos, a localização é incrível e fomos muito bem recebidos e cuidados por Tiago e sua esposa Alexandra. Foram super pacientes com nosso atraso para o check-in e ainda montaram um café da manhã incrível na varanda com uma vista maravilhosa. Ficamos muito satisfeitos com tudo. Planejamos voltar com certeza. Destaque para os cachorros da propriedade que são lindos e dóceis.

Da história encantada em que nos embrulhamos assim que lá entramos, junto com a simpatia do sr Tiago e da sua esposa. E principalmente por me ter feito recuar a um passado muito feliz em casa dos meus avós em toda a decoração tão pormenorizada do hotel, e de ter mergulhado em tantas e boas memórias de uma infância já longínqua. Tiago is a great host, takes a lot of time to take care of us. A pleasure.

We were welcomed with a family-like vibe. The Management was very eager for us to have a great time offering immediate contact options in case we get lost or need anything. We had an amazing view over the Duoro river from our room and the breakfast in the morning was outstanding: Portuguese Sweet Croissants, Ham, Cheese, Sweets, Fruits Yoghurt... you name it! They told us that they recently bought additional property to extend a pool area and officially become 5 stars. We think they already are: The Mansion thrones over terraces above the river with very well behaving little animals further down (e.g. Sheep, Chicken, there's an old dog living his best life)... On the other side is the village center. As a bonus we were specifically welcomed as LGBTQ+ friendly. Thanks for a great and quiet stay! We'd recommend the Hotel for anybody coming to the region. We were told the first king of Portugal also enjoyed it, we sure did!

It was all great, really. The region has little transport options, so come by car or maybe ask the staff very politely if they can arrange a pickup for you!

La casa es muy bonita y perfecta ubicación porque está alta y tiene buenas vistas y a la vez estas 5 min de una playa fluvial con muuucho encanto. Personal amable y desayuno muy completo.

Me sorprendió que no hagan la habitación cada día. Nos quedamos dos noches. No tanto el cambio de toallas, q lo entiendo sino arreglar y hacer la cama. Lucía un sistema airbnb y no lo es. Desayuno el Embutido es de calidad tirando a bajita. Y lo que es un coñazo es que tienes que avisar caaada vez que sales y entras y entras y sales y eso resta autonomía. No hay acceso libre ni a la asa ni al portón para entrar en coche, debes avisar por WhatsApp siempre y claro, es muy poco práctico.

What an amazing stay. Thiago and his wife who mange the hotel could not have been nicer people! We would recommend this quite, picturesque castle in the hills to anyone who is looking to experience a piece of Portugal

The hotel staff are excellent, kind and always ready to help. The hotel also has 3 dogs and my daughter had the time of her life playing with them 😍 100% recommend it for families with kids.

Everything: the peaceful lovely location. Highly maintained and sophisticated yet we felt most welcomed. Spacious ground around with view of the Douro valley. Family run property paying attention to everything details: elegant decor, beautifully set table for a very generous excellent breakfast. Spacious clean bedroom and bathroom.

Schöne Aussicht, sehr schönes Haus (innen wie außen), sehr schönes Badezimmer, gutes Frühstück.

Für jedes Verlassen und Betreten des Grundstücks muss man den Vermieter kontaktieren, der auch ansonsten absolut omnipräsent ist. Dazu gibt es auch noch einen sehr großen Hund im Hof und weitere in einem Zwinger, der freilaufende Hund ist gutmütig. Es gibt keine Restaurants, die fußläufig erreichbar sind.

Adoramos! Ambiente super agradável, o sr Tiago e a esposa são divinais. O melhor pequeno almoço 🥰 As vistas para o rio são de suster a respiração. Até os cães são uns fofinhos.

Um dos pontos que gostamos do alojamento foi o facto de ser sítio perfeito para descansar e recarregar energias, ideal para fugir um bocadinho ao stress do dia a dia. Está no meio da natureza e tem uma vista incrível para o Douro e para a serra. Um outro ponto positivo foi a receção calorosa que recebemos por parte dos caseiros, sempre simpáticos e disponíveis desde o primeiro dia. Inclusive devido ao meu companheiro estar magoado para conduzir, ofereceram-se a nos levar de carrinha aos pontos turísticos da zona e ainda nos indicaram os melhores restaurantes de comida local. A casa é muito confortável, bem equipada e cheia de história, o que torna tudo ainda mais especial. É um lugar calmo, acolhedor e com muito charme. Recomendamos sem dúvida!

Em relação ao alojamento não tenho nada a apontar de negativo.

מבנה ישן ששופץ והוסב למלון, מעוצב בצורה מיוחדת ויפייפה עם פריטים ישנים בתצוגה. נוף פנורמי על עמק הדורו גם מהחדר וגם מהטרסה. בעלת המקום אדיבה וחיייכנית למרות שלא יודעת אנגלית אבל הצלחנו לתקשר בזכות הבנה בסיסית בפורטוגזית. דרך ההגעה למלון יפייפה. ארוחת הבוקר מינימלית אבל מספקת ומוגשת בטוב טעם.

מיטה לא הכי נוחה. לא היו מים חמים, פושרים חמימים.

Wir haben sehr kurzfristig eine neue Unterkunft gesucht und waren sehr froh, dieses kleine Hotel gefunden zu haben! Es ist super schön gelegen mit einem fantastischen Blick über das Douro-Tal. Auch das Zimmer war geschmackvoll und neuwertig eingerichtet. Die Architektur, die Einrichtung und die Dekoration des Hotels versprühen einen historischen Charme. Trotz der Verständigungsschwierigkeiten war die Gastgeberin äußerst reizend. Insgesamt denken wir gern an unseren Aufenthalt zurück.

Bei einem längeren Aufenthalt würden wir einen Pool vermissen. Und mehr Möglichkeiten zum Aufhängen von Handtüchern und Jacken wären schön.

Cecilia is a lovely host and she gave us a lovely breakfast to start the day. Our room had incredible views!

There wasn't very clear communication on Wifi and facilities/recommendations around the property. The beds weren't the most comfortable, yet the quiet outdoors put us straight to sleep.
