It is in a nice position and free rabbits.

It is so dirty, all the facilities are out of date and they are falling apart. There isn't a bin available. We booked 2 rooms but the owner gave away one of our rooms and we needed to sleep all in one room. Not very professional.

The owner is very nice and the breakfast very hearty. If I tour around Dublín i'll come there again. Long life to Gerard

Good location, budget accommodation near Dublin

It's basic but that's fine

The accommodation is genuinely characterful and very different from normal budget accommodation. Set on nice grounds, Kinnegad was just a short stroll away and the house is full of character. Some guests have commented on the fact that the place could benefit from improvement, modernisation and maybe new mattresses. However, price point must be taken into account with all properties, and the price is extremely competitive within its segment, and included breakfast. I would happily stay again.

La casa è una vecchia villa irlandese con un bel parco, la location è quindi scenografica. È possibile farsi un tè o un caffè quando si desidera.

La dotazione di camera e bagno è molto essenziale, anche troppo. Le pulizie vengono fatte poco frequentemente.

Nous avons adoré ce bel endroit en campagne irlandaise. Quand nous sommes arrivés, la maison nous a vraiment plu ,a l’extérieur comme a l’intérieur.. La literie est très confortable et douillette. L’hôte est tres sympathique et discret. Nous en garderons un bon souvenir Karine

Circa 45 minutes until host arrived to enable us to check in. The internal building is dilapidated, falling down, damp, dirty, old , unkempt broken, as are the furnishings. The room photos on the booking websites are misrepresentative, which I shall be letting them know. Family room(no 3) my arse. I have photos. Water tank filling or heater firing repeatedly untill approx 4am. Someone up stairs stumping about, moving / sliding furniture. A family of four trying to get in our door at 1am because they had been told it was their room. We decided against risking breakfast. It was like stepping back in time to a dosehouse

La casa è una magione storica splendidamente arredata con amplissimo giardino. In camera avevamo sia vasca da bagno sia doccia, entrambi con idromassaggio. I proprietari sono premurosi e disponibili: in particolare, ci hanno preparato la colazione al mattino molto presto quando dovevamo partire. La posizione rispetto a Dublino è comoda e vantaggiosa.

Nella camera ho trovato la moquette visibilmente macchiata, ragnatele e ragni su soffitti e pareti, sanitari e piatto doccia sporchi. L'unica sedia presente in camera aveva la seduta completamente squarciata. Al rientro dopo cena il vialetto d'accesso e il piazzale erano al buio pesto (i lampioncini erano spenti), rendendo pericoloso il passaggio tra le auto (inclusa una macchina abbandonata con un pneumatico sgonfio). Appena arrivati siamo dovuti entrare in casa e chiedere se c'era qualcuno perché nessuno ci stava aspettando. Abbiamo provato a contattare l'host più volte e non ci ha risposto al telefono. Non abbiamo usufruito della colazione perché il proprietario quando si è palesato non ci ha informati e noi non abbiamo voluto chiedere informazioni perché non eravamo convinti dell'igiene della struttura.

El tracte amb el Gerard i el John. Ens han fet una acollida excepcional. L'esmorzar també està molt bo i complet.

The location seems to be the only thing going for this place.

Honestly, how this place has even been listed as a suitable place to stay is incomprehensible. Everything my family saw and experienced is a far-cry from the photos. The house from the outside is nice and absolutely could be gorgeous once completely renovated, but as I was told, the house was derelict for many years and the state of the house currently reflects the years gone by. The breakfast is non-existent. The room cleanliness was non-existent. The towels and bedding thankfully seemed to be clean but that can't be said about the room or the bathroom. In all honesty, this place should be closed until a proper standard is adhered to. The amount of good reviews for this place is also questionable. It's inconceivable so many people could have enjoyed what I witnessed.

Gerard fué muy amable y con ganas de agradar. La casa es antigua pero muy bonita , con un jardín lleno de conejitos.

It is a great place to stay for a night to catch an early flight from dublin airport. The gardens are also lovely and there are many quaint items in the house.

The house- in- and outside -, thefurnishings and bathroom are pretty run down and are in dire need of upgrades and/or better upkeep. It's really such a pity because otherwise it would be such a cute place to visit. The need aren't very comfortable and there are NO bins in the room or bathroom!

Blood stains on the sheets ! And towels ! Ridiculous. At least give clean sheets it’s the bare minimum. Dirty floor not cleaned from previous person. No amenities in the bathrooms.

Enjoyed the mix of guests and the relaxed atmosphere and the gardens. The house inside is a lovely too Always stuff to do and facilities are good breakfast, washing and the host is very friendly and good for local knowledge 👍

Host Gerard was wonderful and welcoming. We stayed 4 nights and felt very much at home and enjoyed sharing stories with other guests in the large comfortable sitting room. Very good light continental breakfast included. Great green space for our dogs. And as others have said - watching the rabbits play at dawn and dusk was a delightful bonus to our stay.

Ļoti laba viet, pa ceļam uz Dublinu. Kolorīta, autentiska naktsmītne. Patika viss. Paldies par brokastīm! Iespēja redzēt daudz trušu. Ļoti daudz.

Nekas tāds īpašš nebija. Varbūt nedaudz nolaistas vannasistabas, bet saimnieks tur viens pats cīnās.

I picked Hardwood Hall because of its location and overall good reviews. Phenomenal value for money with breakfast included. Gerard was an excellent host. Quiet, rural setting. Very comfortable room, good wifi. Shared bathroom but this was clearly stated and not an issue.

Reizendes neo-klassizistisches Landhaus, man fühlt sich in vergangene Zeiten versetzt. Alles ein bisschen „ old-fashioned“ und verstaubt, hat aber seinen eigenen Charme. Der Hausherr gehört genauso dazu, der gerne einen freundlichen Talk hält und sich um das Wohl der Gäste bemüht. Ich hatte ein sehr großes Zimmer mit eigenem Bad für gut 40,00, das ist ein unschlagbares Preis-Leistungsverhältnis!

Ist halt alles ein kleines bisschen „verstaubt“ , nicht up-to-Date; , aber das macht nix, hat seinen eigenen Charme.

NONE OF IT. We did not stay We arrived at the property and had to ring a number who was the cleaner.He told us our room number( 5).We looked at the room to find it was not up to our standards.We found it untidy and the bed not made properly,only 1 large and 1 small towel for 2 adults. Mold around the patio doors. We left straight away and found alternative accommodation.

We did not like any of it.

Large building full of character, a really helpful and amazing host, nice antique furniture and building surrounded by beautiful countryside and a few rabbits.

Nothing bad to mention. Found some of the complimentary assorted fruits provided in the main dining hall were going too mature. But everything else was just perfect.

Breakfast was simple- eggs, cereal, toast, yogurt. It was worth it for the price and location that we were looking for. I would far rather stay somewhere with some character, supporting a real person rather than a sterile place that benefits a corporation. Like everyone else has said- the bunnies on the property were a treat to see!

The place was fairly run down and not super clean, but we knew that going in.

If you want luxury this is not the place but if you want value for money and friendliness then this is a great place to stay. For a solo traveller who just wants a bed it is perfect.

The proper more like a manor is in need of some TLC but that is reflected in the price.

Gerard is a welcoming host, we were more than happy to have him as our host. The grounds around the house are full of rabbits, absolutely loved it. The room is fine, beds were fine. The house is a little tired, but this is baked into the price. Location-wise, we were arriving to Dublin and driving towards Sligo the next day, so it is perfect for us. Breakfast is basic, but it is included and will keep you going, removing a headache of trying to find something nearby asap.

We struggled a bit without bins anywhere. In toilets (cotton pads, floss, other things you don't want to flush in the toilet), kitchen (nowhere to put a puck from an aeropress). it would be nice to have at least one somewhere.

Room was very basic. Old house with dated furniture. Bed sheets and duvets were not crispy clean! Breakfast cereals were very sparse. Two plastic containers one containing a single helping of musli and another with maybe enough for two small bowls of cornflakes. Half a pan of brown bread for toasting. 4 cold (boiled previous evening?) eggs. Kettle with bags and jar of coffee. Some jam and marmalade. All very basic. "Rough and ready".

Excellent value for money. Great location.

Emme saaneet mitään yhteyttä paikan pitäjiin. Ei vastannut viesteihin eikä puhelimeen, vaikka yritin ottaa yhteyttä jo aiemmin päivällä. Saavuimme myöhään, ulkoovi onneksi auki ja onneksi löytyi 1 huone jonka ovi oli auki ja jossa kaksi vuodetta. Meillä ei ollut tyynyjä, sain lainattua toiselta vieraalta. Sängyn alta löytyi jonkun sukka. Kylppärissä muutamia kuolleita kärpäsiä. Jos Sen huoneen ns parisänky on parisänkynä mainostettu niin siihen mahtuu vain kaksi lasta nukkumaan. Onneksi meitä oli vain kaksi. Aika erikoinen paikka ja asialadpalvelu siis surkea. .

Stayed for w nights. Was dissappinted with the basic standards you would expect with any stay. There was no heat, room was dated, bathroom wasn't clean, hairs in the shower, toilet would not flush properly, carpet was dirty, light curtains which made it hard to sleep in the early morning and there was no heat on so we were cold. The breakfast room didn't feel clean as there were always crums on the tables or jams left out uncovered.

Location & price, I travel for work and our accountant asks us to find budget places when we are on the road.

The overall 'tired & old' feel and smell the minute you walked in. The room space was fine but the bed, the bed clothes, the mattress, all old & worn. No fresh scent from the room or the bed clothes & pillows 🤔🫣

great location, it's approximately an hour outside of Dublin off the highway, perfect for my need as I don't want to say in city center. Gerard the host is a great person & I enjoy our chats, learned that he bought the place & fixed it all by himself throughout the year, huge respect to that. The room & bed are comfortable and clean, the breakfast is simple but good. I am someone who have stayed in all kind of accommodation during my frequent travel (from sleep in car to 5 stars hotels), and I would say this place has one of the best price-to-value balance. I would stay again in my next visit to Ireland

Great position for access to main roads to experience Central Ireland. Clean property with clean bedding and lounge area.

Rooms could be slightly cleaner. During my visit and I'm not saying it will happen to you, but bearing in mind there are quiet hours stated, I put up with a rather noisy party on a Saturday night that finished at 2.30am ! My flight was at 5am so you can appreciate the frustration.

Location was good with easy access to the downtown area. Also, the farm next door had a friendly horse. The room was spacious..

They were not prepared for my arrival. They were unsure of which room was booked and when that was resolved I was given a room with used towels on the bathroom floor. Perhaps there was a mixup with the reservation. Other than that, the facility was modestly pleasant.
