Reviewed Sep 13, 2026Chagra is set in a beautiful, peaceful area of the game farm, where the wildlife comes right to your doorstep. Waking up to zebras, impala, nyala, wildebeest and other animals grazing nearby is an experience you simply don’t forget.
The house itself is beautiful, comfortable and thoughtfully furnished, with everything you could wish for during your stay. It was immaculate which made us feel completely at home.
The staff were friendly and incredibly helpful, while still allowing us to enjoy the privacy and tranquillity of this very special setting.
A wonderful place to slow down, reconnect with nature and simply enjoy being there. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend Chagra to anyone looking for a memorable African bush escape.

Reviewed Aug 14, 2026Wir waren vom Tchagra Haus begeistert! Das Haus ist riesig und sehr schön eingerichtet! Ausserdem hatte es eine Waschmaschine und eine Geschirrspülmaschine, was wir sehr geschätzt haben. Das absolute Highlight war die Terrasse, von welcher wir abends den wunderschönen Sonnenuntergang und die vielen Tiere beobachten konnten. Einfach traumhaft schön! Danke, dass wir in diesem Haus übernachten durften. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Reviewed Jun 27, 2026Het huis Tchagra is een parel in het Kuleni Game Park. Prachtig ontworpen voor een comfortabel en rustig verblijf. Het huis is van alle gemakken voorzien, waaronder grote en comfortabele bedden, twee ruime badkamers, een heerlijk zwembad etc. etc. We hebben enorm genoten van ons verblijf in deze werkelijk prachtige accommodatie.
De nieuwsgierige giraffen en zebra's kwamen spontaan met ons kennis maken. Van deze belevenis heb ik een mooie video gemaakt. Deze video is te vinden op YouTube. Reviewed Jun 11, 2026Everything!! It was just perfect 👌. Everything you can possibly need, was there. A wonderful bath and shower. Well equipped kitchen. Could do my laundry. Enjoy the birds and other animals. Only stayed 2 day's, but could easily stayed a week. I will definitely come back.

Reviewed May 1, 2026Tchagra house is a gem in the bush. Beautifully designed for a comfortable, peaceful stay. The house is kitted with everything you need and Zanele the housekeeper was lovely. Ruben the gardener was also a joy and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Lots of books for our little one to look through and great open spaces for her to run around.
Lots of wildlife came past the house and we even had a sweet thick-tailed bushbaby visit one evening.
Truly a gorgeous accommodation and stay.

The home is stunning - huge and such a beautiful location. Well equipped kitchen.
The single beds were a bit uncomfortable as well as the pillows. The kitchen seat covers were very grubby and need a wash. It was difficult for my 80 yo mom to get comfortable on the day beds on the balcony. The bathroom towels need attention. The garden needs some TLC. A squirrel had also made a home in the balcony roof which was quite scary until we found out that it actually was a squirrel making a nest.

Reviewed Mar 24, 2026Das war eine spektakuläre Unterkunft. Viel größer und luxuriöse als erwartet. Das Personal überaus Service orientiert und freundlich.
Der Pool und die Aussichtsplattform im Baum zusammen mit der Terrasse bilden eine spektakuläre Ausgangs-Plattform für eine Safari, bei der man sich nicht mal weg bewegen muss.

Reviewed Dec 26, 2025The accommodation was extremely comfortable as well as spacious. The animals roamed close to the house - an absolute treat. Having the swimming pool during hot days was refreshing. 10/10 we will definitely return for another visit.

Reviewed Nov 23, 2025Unser Aufenthalt in der Hluhluwe Region hätte nicht schöner sein können. Mitten im Kuleni Park gelegen, bietet Tchagra House die Möglichkeit, Giraffen, Zebras und Antilopen von der Terrasse, vom Baumhaus und von Spaziergängen aus zu erleben. Alles ist gemütlich eingerichtet und so ausgestattet, dass man sich prima selbst versorgen und rundherum wohlfühlen kann. Gut gefallen hat uns der Braai, den die liebe Lizelle für uns zubereitet hat. Über sie haben wir auch zwei tolle Safaris in Hluhluwe organisieren lassen.

Die Lichtverhältnisse in der Küche und dem Esstisch sind am Abend wirklich schlecht

Reviewed Aug 11, 2025Het is een heerlijk huis, lekker groot en van alle gemakken voorzien. Het uitzicht is geweldig, we hebben giraffen en zebra's voor ons huis zien lopen. En in de avond een bush baby.
De boomhut vonden de kinderen geweldig en de buiten douche was ook geweldig!
Je kunt voor je laten koken, dit hebben wij ook gedaan. Je krijgt dan een 3 gangen diner aan huis voor 300 ZAR pp
We hebben een aantal keer gegeten bij Delishh lekker dichtbij, goed eten en speeltuin voor de kinderen
De paar verbeterpuntjes heb ik doorgegeven aan de host
Der Ausblick, der Garten, die Zimmer, das Baumhaus (!!!)
Zu wenig Handtücher, schlechte Beleuchtung zum Kochen, Essen und gemütlich Beisammensitzen.
Wir fühlten uns zudem etwas überrumpelt bei unserer Ankunft, weil es hieß, es sei keiner da und plötzlich liefen mehrere Leute im bzw am Haus rum. Wir wären lieber erstmal in Ruhe angekommen.
Teilweise wirkte das Haus etwas heruntergekommen (kaputte Klospülung, Vorratskammer…).
An sich hat das Haus sehr viel Potential, aber die Einrichtung und Ausstattung hat uns leider nicht so zugesagt, wie wir es vermutet hatten.

We had a lovely stay at Tchagra. Brought my Inlaws from Ireland. They enjoyed the setting, the pool, views and their lovely main bedroom with beautiful ensuit bathroom and outdoor shower.

Reviewed Feb 17, 2025We arrived back one night in the dark to find a towering giraffe blocking the driveway! Kuleni Park is a magical place filled with zebra and all sorts of antelope and duiker. No monkeys unfortunately. Tchagra house is expansive and comfortable with high ceilings and a long, spacious terrace. Both large bedrooms have equally roomy ensuites. A guest toilet is also available. Kuleni is a quick 15 or 20 minutes from the Big 5 within Hluhluwe's gates. No need to self cater either as a great local restaurant, Delissh, is open from morning to early evening just outside Kuleni Park's gates. We didn't use the pool but it's positioned maybe 25 metres away in front of a small chalet that is tucked away to the left of the main house and also available from the owners as a third bedroom. Security on the gate are very pleasant and Nancy the housekeeper was lovely. A perfect getaway!

Reviewed Jan 23, 2025We were greeted by the most pleasant housekeeper upon arrival. When we entered the home, it felt like we stepped into paradise. It is absolutely stunning, with attention to detail for the big things and little things that usually go unnoticed. It made our stay so comfortable, we were truly living in luxury for the weekend. The owner of the property also messaged us to check in and arrange activities for us if required. Waking up to animals walking around the backyard in the morning felt surreal. It was the most beautiful experience and we would love to visit again!

Reviewed Sep 6, 2024Everything - the layout and location of the house, the staff and the wildlife. It’s ideally situated between Hluhluwe -iMfolozi (a Big Five Game Reserve) and Isimangaliso Wetland Park. And there are two good restaurants very nearby which is very convenient if you don’t want to cater for yourself.
We didn’t realize when booking that the house itself was in a small game park, so nearly every day we were amazed to see giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, antelope, duikers and vervet monkeys as well variety of bird life all from the back of the house. The house is located at the far end of the park so it felt secluded and peaceful, yet had all the modern amenities. It was spotless, spacious and very comfortable. The housekeeper Zanele and the groundskeeper Ruben were so nice and helpful. The owners were highly responsive as well. We highly recommend Tchagra House and were very sad to leave.

Tchagra is part of a private Game Reserve and we saw zebras giraffe Wildebeest, porcupine and many other animals. The house could not be more beautiful and clean. The host is very helpful at any time.

Reviewed Apr 30, 2024The location was superb, the house is located in a small game farm but very private. We didn't even get a glimpse of any of the other houses on the farm. The views over the KZN bushveld were fantastic and animals roam close to the verandah of the house.
