Where should I begin? Chris and Colette's attention to detail is phenomanal! From the beautiful welcolming board, to the complimentary cheese board and the Montagu Chenin Blanc Brut! The beautiful rooms, with the best linen, stunning bathrooms with complimentary Fynbos soap, Shampoo and Conditioner. A touch of true class and artistry in every corner. I thought the cheese in the fridge was a nice touch too. The views are phenomanal! We plan to rerurn in 2027, wishing we can convince our very British sons would eventually return to our beautiful beloved South Africa. Thank you for sharing this little heaven on earth with us. Beautiful setting. The cottage is idyllic with everything you need for a good, comfortable stay. The hosts are kind and welcoming. Views were spectacular and wildlife was great. Short pathway down to a lovely little outdoor terrace with shade, deck chairs and a little dip pool. I can only highly recommend Exhale Cottage!

It was honestly great .

We spent our 13th wedding anniversary at Exhale Cottage and arrived to find the hosts had gone out of their way to make it unforgettable. A personalised chalk welcome board with our names, a letter board congratulating us on our 13th, a chilled bottle of bubbly in the fridge alongside a beautiful cheese selection — all with that spectacular mountain view as the backdrop. These weren't generic touches; they were thoughtful, specific, and genuinely warm. The cottage itself is stunning — beautifully designed, spotlessly clean, and the kind of place that makes you forget your phone exists.

We loved everything about the cottage. It was spacious and clean and had everything you needed. All the treats from wine to cheese platter and lots of books with information about the area and wild life. We saw lots of birds, mongoose and even a scorpion under a rock. Our hosts Chris and Colette were amazing we will definitely be back. Oh and the hot tub was amazing 👌

Un véritable coin de paradis, un endroit magique. Si nous pouvions mettre beaucoup plus que 10 !!!! Avons adoré absolument tout, des hôtes attentionnés et formidables, un lieu exceptionnel incomparable. Depuis toutes les pièces des vues incroyables en immersion au milieu de la nature. Les photos ni les mots ne peuvent rendre justice à la réalité. En plus d'être très confortable, tout le soin apporté pour recevoir et de nombreuses attentions dédiées le rende vraiment très spécial ; nombreux équipements incroyables (on ne peut les décrire tous!). Tout est pensé pour y passer des jours heureux ; se relaxer. Coté pratique, quelques exemples pour compléter les photos : tres bon wifi (reunion zoom ok), Grand frigo et congel ; barbecues ; cuisine bien équipée, gas interieur et gas exterieur, douches intérieures et exterieures ; ballets des oiseaux dont on ne se lasse pas ! , petit chemin de randonnée spécifiquement créé, etc, etc.... Carport pour la voiture. Communication attentive, facile et rapide. Montagu est à quelques minutes d'auto pour ceux qui en auraient besoin. Nous avons adoré chaque seconde. I loved that they have thought of everything - from bird seed for the feeders, to epsom salts for the outdoor bath, to a million other little touches. It was super special!

Wir haben unsere Tage hier unglaublich genossen und wollten eigentlich nicht wieder abreisen. Die Ruhe, die Aussicht und die Freundlichkeit der Besitzer ist wirklich einmalig. This was probably the venue with the most attention to detail that I have ever stayed at. The Wi-Fi was great allowing us to still have Teams and Zoom meetings. I have never experienced better hosts (they even got some ingredients for our Pizza lunch for us after I forgot the ingredients at home and refused to be reimbursed). We will definitely return.

Attention to detail and making guests feel welcome. Beautiful nature setting with wildlife for peace and quiet. Owners were amazing and so helpful, always accessible and wanting to make you comfortable. Everything you need is in the cottage. Beautiful views...sunrise, sunset, moonrise, stars.

The cottage was outfitted with alot of amenities that we didn't need to bring along. The location is peaceful, quiet and gorgeous! It really invites you to exhale. All the small personalised touches really made our stay more personal and inviting. The welcome champagne and cheese platter, signboard and snack pack for our baby was so thoughtful! The different spaces created within the property allows you relax in a different spot everyday! Also all the added extras for baby were welcomed! :)

We brought some things along that when we arrived were there, so maybe a slightly more thorough list of things that we can avoid packing. E.g. - 5lt bottled water, black bags. As coffee lovers, we noticed the coffee plunger and moka pot are abit old and in need of replacing - but still work.

Modern and sleek. Private rooms with huge beds, high quality linen and incredible mountain nature views from every window. Small details are everywhere and really felt the pride the team at Exhale cottage put into their accommodation offering.

We so appreciated the little stickers everywhere so we knew exactly what everything was for, all the thought you've put into everything (including the walking route that was marked off so nicely), ample wood for the hot tub and braai, and the fresh chillies!!! Absolutely everything - if I could rate this cottage 12 out of 10, I would. The location and facilities are exceptional but what really makes it special is the care that Colette and Chris put into the property and the overall guest experience. From cheese & MCC to a beautiful (and very unexpected) birthday cake. Communication was excellent and they even offered a mid-stay cottage clean. The whole experience was exceptional.

Picture perfect location, views, magnificent cottage & hosts who went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Colette surprised us early morning with a birthday basket on the stoep!

This is a stunning place, newly built, comfortable and full of interesting design features in a beautiful rand peaceful remote location, surprisingly close to a tarred road. The owners not only show concern for guests but have added generous extras: wine, cheese and olives, bird books, field glasses, torches etc. They have created a 2.9 km walking path to a viewpoint. We have no hesitation in recommending it.

Exhale Cottage is an indescribable place, pictures and words can not capture this house and its surroundings. Chris and Colette are such warmhearted persons, so welcoming. The house has more than everything one can expect, and even so much more. The decorations and the finishings are top. Safe place. Eye for detail! Wish we could just live here!

The setting in between the mountains were perfect. The cottage is surrounded by the hills, the local fynbos and Karoo plant-life any many working fruit farms. The owners went out of their way to bring nature into the mix of the stay. The cottage is well equipped and spacious, and we were spoilt with a cheese platter and bubbly. We will be seeing you again. The stay at Exhale was beyond expectation. There were so many little 'touches' that made the stay very special - from the umbrella hanging on the front door (as there had been a slight chance of rain), to the delicious cheeseboard, wine, fruit, welcome messages, etc. that were left for us, all so personalised. These hosts have 'got it'!

This cottage is a little piece of paradise on a farm just outside Montagu. Every single detail has been thought through to make for the most relaxing, restful and enjoyable stay. The setting is incredibly beautiful. A therapeutic place to totally relax and switch off. Sustainability. Off the grid. Hosts were beyond incredible. Generous, helpful,,friendly - just lovely human beings. all the water places available to cool off. It was super super hot. Had outdoor bath In the bush. Rock pool in the stream, with deck, chairs and an umbrella. spa pool on balcony. the generous hosts left an incredible cheese platter and a bottle of bubbles. Chenin Blanc fabulous. We bought a case on the way out . The hosts gave us an extra fan! They brought a humidifier for my sinus. Nothing was too much for them. Animal and bird life Rooms comfortable with incredible mountain, sunrise views. Fabulous gas cooking facilities - was far too hot to make fires. Loved everything - will be back

The stay at Exhale was perfect thanks to the attention to detail the hosts put into the property. On arrival you quickly realise that your mind can completely unwind. The views from every angle in the home are breathtaking. The mountains are comforting and the location is so calming and quiet. Loved the outside shower and the rock pool. The hosts made the stay extra special with the cheese platter and sparkles provided on arrival and the surprise birthday cake!

I liked everything about the property.

We love the area around Montagu, and Colette and Chris created the perfect place for us to enjoy it. We cannot believe that both are new to the accommodation business because they are absolute pros. They created a space to relax and just breathe and enjoy. The cottage is super well equipped, perfectly clean, you can just sit and take in the view, watch the birds, take a bath in the middle of nature or sit and read at a little creek on the farm. We were warmly welcomed by Chris, and they treated us with a cheese platter and fresh bread on our arrival. Please don't hesitate and just book with them. ; )

The kindness of the owners, Colette was very responsive via whatsapp and Chris even offered to braai for us, it was a wonderful experience. Waking up to the sounds of birds with a view you never saw before is unforgettable. The cottage was also very clean, with all supplies needed available. We also received wine and cheese/bread upon our arrival, which was very welcome after a long drive. We were able to completely relax in this place, watching the stars at night in the hot tub was better than netflix ;-)

From the moment you walk through the door and see the views from each window you quite literally do Exhale. This is a very unpretentious yet very romantic chic cottage. Two bedrooms two bathrooms excellent sleep quality with nice quality linens. There is no oven but you are spoilt for choice with a 4 plate gas top cooker, an air fryer if you should need, an indoor braai and outdoor braai, come fire pit, and a gas plate cooker outside for sizzling steaks. There is also a fabulous new addition of a Pizza Braai that we enjoyed the use of. Cottage is run off grid, solar and gas heaters for water so very comfortable. Firewood is generously and freely supplied. There are wonderful touches from the hosts that just make you feel so very welcome, a cheese platter, muscadel taster, wine, rusks a few luxury chocolates, coffee beans and a grinder ... the list feels endless on the generosity and welcoming from hosts. Take the time to tune out the noise from the life you leave when you take the easy drive up to the cottage. Listen for the jackals at night, sit outside and melt away in the kolkol and experience the transition from golden hour to moonrise accompanied by the hooting of owls and the witter of the night jars. Look for the night visits from the wild hares and the daily drive by's from the mongoose. Enjoy the silence and the dark skies littered with stars. Explore the surrounding flora, there is a book for easy ID on what you will see. This is such a special pocket of nature and a perfect escape but come with someone you love because it is very romantic too.

Definitely the best accommodation we had during our six weeks travel. The house is perfectly designed and equipped. Stunning view and pure nature feeling. 100m down there is a water pond which can be filled with fresh water which was really warm so we spend many hours inside and enjoyed the silence and 360° nature surrounding. Need to come back!

No expense was spared to make our stay at Exhale Cottage the perfect getaway. There was a cheese board, some bubbly and fresh bread to welcome us. There is a lovely rock pool nestled away in the bush, a fire heated hot tub attached to the cottage and a marked walk around the property to help you relax. The kitchen is stocked with everything you could need, some board games to keep you entertained at night or just enjoy the stunning view by the indoor or outdoor braai. Chris and Colene are helpful and friendly hosts. Overall an absolutely incredible experience.

360 degree Mountain View’s, you are fully immersed in nature, a totally unique and beautiful setting. Every need is catered for and there are so many experiences to have. Stargazing off the front of the patio was one of my favorites.

We loved everything about Exhale Cottage. Looking forward to our return for another break away from the City!

This is place has so much pros about it to much to mention but I will narrow it down. 1. Owners were so helpful and amazing human beings. They really bent over backwards to make our stay super comfortable and memorable. 2.Who needs a TV when you have your very own live HD view of the spectacular mountain range and birds. Not to mention the mongooses that visited us every morning. 3. OFF the grid living so no load shedding. 4. Inside and outside ensuite showers. One of them can be a bath as well. 5.Wood fired kol kol hot tub for that romantic feeling with the backdrop of the mountain as your view. 6.Outside gas braai and again with a view and a square boma style outside fire place. 7.Rock pool with its own deck and sun umbrella just a mere walk down a safe path. 8. The owners really took special care into making sure there was every itenary in the house and out of the house. Eg Google smart speaker, every braai equipment you can think of, every cutlery available, board games, fully stock inside and outside wood, super comfy beds and so much more. 9.The hiking trail was amazing beautiful scenery and quite manageable even for the less fit. There is so much more I can say but best believe me to go and support the kitsons family exhale cottage truly unbelievable experience one which myself and my family will truly treasure.
