Great location, staff and breakfast. Super comfy bed and room
Wifi in the room wasn't great, but that's a small niggle.
Refurbished colonial style house, near to everything, charming ambiance, superb location.
Nothing not to like.
Lovely staff, well located but parking is limited. Food is excellent.
Friendly staff, good breakfast good location for visiting Alfriston

Love the location and the outdoor space. The bed was very comfortable in a small room. Staff were very helpful.
The room was very hot particularly on the first night and the fan provided was inadequate. We found the other guests to be very noisy, along with a yappy dog in one of the rooms with very little sound insulation .
Ottima colazione

Great location and great breakfast
Beautiful period property close to centre of medieval village
Lack of air conditioning
Lovely staff and lovely terrace and restaurant food was fab
Our room was lovely but the bathroom was very small and really needed updating ! Mould in shower and old discoloured shower tray
Very nice place and area.

Sehr charmantes Boutique Hotel
Wenig Ausblick
The rooms were great. Beautifully laid out and a very comfortable bed. We arrived very late after a longer than expected walk - too late for dinner. But they were kind enough to make us some starters which were so welcome and delicious. Breakfast was also really nice and a good variety
Nothing. It was all really great.
The food was exceptional! The English breakfast was amazing & the dinner so full of flavour. Was a small room but felt very cozy & comfortable.
Not that it was bad at all but the water pressure from our room 3 wasn’t the best but easy fix
Shower had limescale so was not working properly. A lot of road noise and not totally blackout window treatments.
Sehr freundliches Personal und stets hilfsbereit. Würde ich wieder einchecken !
Mooie lounges Goed ontbijt
Geen airco Vast tapijt in de kamer
Beautiful property. Beautiful terrace for breakfast. Comfortable room with gorgeous view of the green and church. Helpful staff, parking and central village location.
Excellent location, brilliant and helpful staff, comfortable room and bed. Terrific freshly cooked breakfast. Everything served with a Smile. Well Done
Es war alles wirklich hervorragend!

The hotel has a welcoming, helpful staff and the room was very comfortable and well designed, We looked out on to the village green and the windows are big, allowing cool air in the evening and affording a priceless view of the Alfriston church. The hotel is well kept and well located. And it is great value, especially when compared to other hotels in the village.
Breakfast eggs could be better but other than that, everything was great. Lovely, spacious dining room and if it had not been windy, we would have sat outside on their very pretty terrace. Nice clientele too. We had great post-Glyndebourne conversations with several of the guests.
Beautifully appointed, comfortable bed.
Our bedroom was quite hot being on the western side however it’s not surprising given the recent heat wave.
Excellent breakfast and evening meal
Nothing
Desayuno
Location, comfortable food, although the menu is not extensive and repeated daily to a large extent. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Nothing really
Clean , spacious rooms , comfy bed. Quality of food was great . Staff were brilliant at reception , dinner and breakfast
Slightly dated rooms decoration needed as cracks showing
Outstanding room, location, breakfast and supper. A lovely spot.
Breakfast was included with our stay. They had a great selection for continental or hot breakfast. Staff were attentive, and the atmosphere was lovely.
A bit expensive for 2 nights. Could not adjust shower temperature in my room
Lovely hotel, great rooms and service

Great food and lovely rooms
Great location on the edge of the village and very close to NT Alfriston Clergy House , the green and church. Our room had a big bathroom with an amazing bath and very large walk in shower. We has a lovely meal in the restaurant with very attentive service.
Unfortunately the weather was dreadful so couldn’t get joy the garden and terrace. The room was cold but we found a heater in the room.
The staff were lovely, big spacious room and nice seating areas
The bed linen was a little rough and uncomfortable.
Wingrove house has a special flair. Rooms and common spaces are accurately cared for and pleasant to stay in. Liked breakfast and dinner and newspaper on the table
The outside balcony wasnt' clean so I couldn't sit and read even though a little table and chairs are provided. Pity! A wider wardrobe would be useful too.
Beautiful property with lovely dining area and very pretty gardens . Room was terrific with everything you would need bathroom immaculate and a very good size and wonderful walk in shower . Food was lovely and staff very helpful . Alfriston is a very quaint pretty town
Lovely atmosphere, beautiful surroundings, comfortable and plenty of parking spaces. Beds very comfortable.
We had room 12 which was a little boxy and felt a little claustrophobic. A mirror in the room would have been good. Our guests were in room 4, much better for them and yet the price was the same.
Heerlijk comfortable!
Beautiful building in a lovely location, staff very friendly, room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was amazing, we stayed whilst walking the South Downs Way but would love to come back
Lovely location, friendly staff, good breakfast and supper. Comfortable sitting areas.
Minor points Weak water pressure and only overhead shower. Room on road side quite noisy.
Beautiful location and we were blessed with perfect weather to enjoy the restaurant outside.
It was all wonderful.
We had a quiet room with a pretty view across the green to the flint stone church. Friendly and obliging staff. We varied eating at the hotel with eating at a local pub but, we should have been better eating only at the hotel; during the week the pubs and Alfriston itself are deserted in the evening whereas the hotel restaurant is excellent and pleasantly busy.
Nothing
Great space for parking. The room was lovely, with the ability to have doors open at night. Great night, sleep. Dining was wonderful for evening meal as well as breakfast.
Nothing
Room was beautifully decorated, bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was fabulous!! I loved everything about this place...especially the freshly baked cookies brought to our room.
Very comfortable bed.. parking available. Breakfast was excellent. The bed was huge and really soft and comfortable.
No shower cap and initially an unpleasant smell in the bathroom !
The food was fantastic, particularly at dinner. We are foodie people and were all delighted with our choices. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The garden was lovely and the room was overall very comfortable.
It was a sunny day and the room was very hot. There was a cooling unit in there which helped a bit but it was still hard to sleep due to the warmth in the room. This was managable in May but would maybe put me off staying in the summer.
Fantastic location, easy parking and great breakfast.
Well appointed hotel in a lovely location with access to excellent country walks. Breakfasts were excellent and staff friendly and helpful.
Nice hotel and property. Good breakfast.
Expensive for what you get.
Breakfast was delicious and the breakfast room itself is lovely. The whole atmosphere of the hotel is wonderful. It's very relaxing and everything is very well managed. The location is wonderful, with beautiful walks nearby and the village is charming.
A great stopover on the South Downs Way. Peaceful, tasteful with a lovely garden and great food, in a beautiful old village in the lovely riverside countryside.
I did like the setting overall: this is a special place, it has a flair so pleasant and conforting. it was my second stay here for a study in the Lodge with the London literary salon. I loved my room on the ground floor, it was quiet and confortable. Breakfast is also generous and cooked eggs are ever so tasty. We did have dinner there as a group, it was good too. last but not least, staff have been always kind and prompt :-)
The outside veranda could have been cleaner, just to sit outside with a cup of tea; the closet was a bit tight even if i was there for just a few days
Staff, the warm atmosphere, comfortable room with quality toiletries, car parking and an excellent breakfast.
The blind in our room didn't fit too well so consequently, our sleep was interrupted as sunlight flooded in around 5-6am.
Lovely Terrace.
Stayed in room 5, strange intermittent noise throughout the night, like a pump turning on and off.
The hotel has a lovely elegant colonial feel The terrace in the summer time is lovely and the verandah for rooms 3 and 4 is fabulous The rooms are very comfortable indeed - lovely crisp linen and comfortable beds The staff were really very nice and also unobtrusive so you feel like it is home
The showers are perhaps a little cramped and underpowered I really think a lot more could be made of the restaurant space It is a great space but feels a little empty and not intimate so we were tempted to eat elsewhere in the evening
Gorgeous decoration and nice large cat park. The bed was ok, pillows good. Breakfast was ok. Good location for a family event.
Bed was a bit lumpy. Breakfast average.
Lovely building. Great location. Very comfortable room. Excellent warm shower room. Delicious kipper at breakfast. Extremely friendly and helpful staff.
Would have liked a mug rather than cup in room for tea.
Nice hotel, good breakfast. Location close to seven sisters.
Elegant and comfortable property, short walk to centre of village.
Nothing
this was a lovely place to stay… Having stayed in other hotels in Alfriston this was excellent… We're definitely stay again!
We loved the location, the restaurant, the delicious food, the staff. Excellent breakfast. The hotel seems to have been recently refurbished with a good bathroom in our room. The walk-in shower was great. We really appreciated the view across to the church and the village green and the hills. We stayed in early April.
Room 12 was a little on the small side but perfectly good. The balcony and the view made up for it.
Excellent beautiful location and hotel. Very comfortable bed and exquisite linen and pillows. A very extensive and delicious breakfast
Kettle lead too short to reach plug socket so had to heat water with kettle on the floor! Need higher plug sockets for hairdryer short lead as well.
Position , gardens, food, staff all were superb
Nice restaurant area also for breakfast, great chef. Coffee at breakfast not good, room nespresso machine saved the day.
High pricing for both dinner and the stay, especially in a smallish room with a noisy ventilator in the bathroom.
Staff were excellent from the moment I walked in. The lady was so pleasant and checked me in without any issue. Room was spotless, bed was so so comfortable. Dinner was lovely, Jess was superb as was the guy who served me, service is exceptional which is one of the reasons i keep going back. Breakfasst was delicious too
The internet isnt great but i understand its not just the hotel;, the village isnt great.
Breakfast
No heating in room. Moved to another room with no heating. Then moved to a third room with heating, but tiny TV and uncomfortable bed.
The house, the staff, the food, the location, the garden. Everything was perfect.
