WOW!!!! This was by far the best accommodation during our trip in Sri Lanka. The bungalows are simply very very beautiful- the bathroom is very special. The swimming pool is beautiful. Breakfast fantastic. Staff extremely polite and always pleasing the customers.

Wat een prachtige plek is dit. Fantastische buiten badkamer, en grote mooie kamers met comfortabele bedden. Het personeel is buitengewoon vriendelijk en behulpzaam. De lodge ligt perfect om uitstapjes te maken. Het eten was het beste wat we in heel Sri Lanka hebben gegeten. Wij raden deze plek zeer aan! Verder een groot compliment aan onze tuk tuk chauffeur waar we geweldige gesprekken mee hebben gehad en die ons heel veel olifanten heeft laten zien! 😅

Great location tucked away with comfortable spacious rooms and a very private, tropical feel. The staff were all very friendly with exceptional service from Madushan and Sahan. The food was fantastic.

The service was absolutely incredible. Providing free food and fruit because I finished my plate quickly no extra charge at all. They told me how to eat like a local and recommended great places to visit. Then when I forgot my adaptor in the room they hurriedly brought it to me before I left ❤️

This was a really wonderful place to stay… Everything was fantastic. The gardens are just beautiful, the rooms are very comfortable and spotlessly clean, the staff are really, really friendly and helpful, and the whole property is amazingly maintained. Also, the food is fantastic – we eat a lot of south Asian food and this is some of the best I’ve ever had. The hotel is located in a very convenient place for a number of sites, and we took tuktuks from the hotel (they will recommend timings et cetera) and were delighted with everything that they arranged. Highly highly recommend that you stay here. I just wish we could’ve stayed longer.

I always stay here whenever I come to Dambulla. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and most importantly, the staff, especially Amila, treat guests with such care. I can relax and enjoy my trip as if I were at home. I highly recommend this hotel.

Struttura nuova, pulita, con una piscina e una ambientazione naturale stupenda. Camere meravigliose. Staff estremamente gentile e preparato, in particolare il manager Sahan Athma è stato estremamente cordiale e amichevole con noi. È una struttura meravigliosa per rilassarsi a Dambulla e ricevere un trattamento perfetto.

Struttura molto bella e particolare. Personale gentile. Camere con bagno esterno originale, distanziate tra loro. Piscina al centro, pulita e confortevole.

NOUS AVONS TOUT AIMÉ ! De l’arrivée jusqu’au départ … Un accueil très chaleureux avec sourire et jus de fruit frais, une charmante chambre décorée avec soin et standing, un domaine super bien entretenu, un jardin luxuriant avec piscine à débordement, une cuisine succulente et un service digne d’un établissement de renom. Un havre de paix où nous nous sommes sentis comme des rois durant 3 nuits ! Un merci tout particulier à Sahan Athma et Madusanka qui ont été d’un grand professionnalisme et parfaitement attentionnés avec nous. Un grand bravo à l’équipe cuisine et à toute l’équipe qui veille au bon fonctionnement de cet endroit. Nous recommandons à 200% 🥰

Les différents espaces de l’établissement (villa, espace piscine, espace restaurant/bar) sont très agréables et propres. La cuisine est très bonne, que ce soit pour le petit-déjeuner ou dîner (nous recommandons particulièrement leur rice & curry). Idéalement situé pour visiter Sigiriya et le Golden Cave Temple. Enfin, le personnel est très sympathique, attentionné et disponible. Nous remercions particulièrement Sahan Athma pour son accueil, ses recommandations et ses anecdotes sur le Sri Lanka.

Un petit hotel de charme avec un service d'une incroyable gentillesse. Les photos sont conformes nous recommandons vivement! Excellente table aussi, propreté et disponibilité du staff. Une très belle référence au Sri Lanka ou vous avez beaucoup de choix mais peu d hôtels aussi bien!! Les appartements sont des jolies maisons individuelles avec des salles de bain ouvertes un must d exotisme ! Une belle piscine à débordement bien éclairée le soir dans un joli jardin. De belles soirées calmes !

De sfeer die deze accomodatie uitstraalt, de vriendelijkheid van het personeel en vooral het eten: dat was echt overheerlijk. Echt topklasse, bereid in een open keuken. En prachtige buitenbadkamer!

Sicuramente il miglior hotel in cui siamo stati durante il nostro viaggio in Sri Lanka. La struttura è bellissima, un’oasi immersa nel verde, in un contesto silenzioso e molto rilassante. Lo staff è stato davvero splendido, sempre disponibile ad accogliere qualsiasi richiesta. La camera era pulita, spaziosa e accogliente. Ottima anche la cucina, sia per la colazione che per la cena. I prezzi sono un po’ più alti rispetto allo standard, ma la qualità è quella di un vero ristorante, con una buona scelta anche di cucina continentale. Molto attenti inoltre alle intolleranze alimentari.

L’unica nota negativa è che il bagno si trova all’esterno della camera. Di notte può quindi capitare di trovare qualche insetto o piccolo animale, aspetto da tenere in considerazione soprattutto per chi non è abituato a questo tipo di sistemazione.

La struttura è immersa nel verde ed è molto silenziosa, le camere sono ampie, pulite e ben arredate, il bagno esterno è bellissimo! Colazione strepitosa e ristorante altrettanto buono!! Consigliamo vivamente (Kottu buonissimo!)

A great value getaway hotel, peaceful, great food and everything finished to a high standard.

The hotel is a little out of the way, without other restaurants each close by, so one is pretty committed to staying on site - having said that, the food, drink and pool are great, so it works perfectly.

L'accoglienza dello staff è stata ottima, tutti molto disponibili. In particolare Sahan Athma, ci ha aiutato e coinvolto in diversi momenti della nostra permanenza.

Super clean, well and beautifully designed place. As a matter of fact, it looks in real life even better than in the pictures - a rare thing to say these days. A place to rest and recover.

Super friendly and attentive staff. Sahan, the general manager, shared many interesting insight about Sri Lankan life, was always helpful and supportive and never far away. And a good guy for a good laugh, we had fun as well! Amila gave us good TukTuk tours and good advice what to visit. Thank you, guys!

Lovely little oasis for our first few days in Sri Lanka. The rooms were a really good size in a bungalow setting, with brilliant a/c, English plugs and a unique outdoor bathroom. The pool area was lovely, always quiet. We tried the continental breakfast which was really tasty and plentiful. The day we went on safari we were given a packed meal. We ate rice and curry on the first night in the restaurant which was really good. Only ate out after that as we like to try new places each night when on holiday. The location is tucked away, but easy to get to Dambulla or Sigiriya. The staff were really friendly and attentive, even giving us bug spray when having a few drinks. Would highly recommend this boutique hotel!

The frogs in the toilet were our only issue, but found this quite amusing and part of the experience!!

It was a beautiful stay at Kandalama lodge. The room was very clean and comfortable, a lovely pool directly outside. The staff were extremely friendly and went the extra mile to ensure I had a comfortable and lovely stay

Unfortunately we didn't end up staying as the pool was having work done on it and so was unusable. We did have a room with a very small pool, but would have liked the option to use a bigger pool.

We weren't informed of the work being undertaken in the pool. The room was nice, however they need to invest in better quality curtains. These looked like we're from a kids playhouse and wouldn't have kept any light out.

Es war ohne Zweifel die beste Unterkunft während unseres gesamten Aufenthaltes auf Sri Lanka! Die Unterkunft & Anlage: Unser Bungalow war einfach klasse. Besonders das sensationelle Außenbad hat es uns angetan. Hier merkt man deutlich die deutsche Planung und Durchführung: Alles ist absolut durchdacht, hochfunktional und mit Liebe zum Detail gestaltet. Die Außenanlage ist wunderschön gepflegt und der tolle Pool bot nach unseren Ausflügen immer die perfekte, angenehme Abkühlung. Service & Kulinarik: Das gesamte Personal ist äußerst freundlich und aufmerksam. Ein riesiges Lob geht an die Küche – das Frühstück/Essen war schlichtweg herausragend! Wir haben jede Mahlzeit genossen. Hier stimmt das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis zu 100 %. Ausflüge & Erlebnisse: Ein besonderes Dankeschön gilt Amile. Er hat uns mit seinem Tuk-Tuk auf unseren Touren nach Dambulla, Polonnaruwa und Anuradhapura immer sicher ans Ziel gebracht. Unterwegs hat er uns zudem mit vielen spannenden Infos versorgt, was die Fahrten sehr kurzweilig und lehrreich gemacht hat. Fazit: Wer eine perfekt organisierte, herzliche und wunderschöne Unterkunft sucht, ist hier genau richtig. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Il nostro soggiorno al Kandalama Lodge è stato meraviglioso. Qualsiasi aspetto ci ha stupiti. La struttura è nuova, le camere sono pulite, spaziose e silenziose, i letti comodissimi, la piscina tenuta benissimo. È possibile fare sia colazione che pranzo e cena all’interno, il che è risultato molto comodo. La scelta è veramente varia (piatti tradizionali e continentali), i prezzi sono più alti rispetto ai ristoranti “standard” ma ne vale assolutamente la pena. Lo staff è di una gentilezza infinita, ci siamo sentiti veramente coccolati. Soggiornare qui è stato un modo per allontanarci dal tram tram del centro, questo posto è una vera oasi di pace.

Ci siamo pentiti di aver passato solo una notte in questo paradiso.

Firstly, the staff. From there everything flowed seamlessly according to our wishes. Facilities are fist class and comfortable.

The risotto wasn't great, but apart from that one dish, (which they wouldn't except payment for) the chef was excellent across the board.

Staff were fantastic, so helpful and attentive without being overbearing. The food was delicious, we stayed for three nights had Sri Lankan food every time so could have done with a few more options. Pool was brilliant in the heat and we had it to ourselves as no one else was around! Gardens were beautifully maintained. Outdoor bathroom was a fun novelty

El sitio es super acogedor, pocas habitaciones y con un mobiliario todo de calidad, pero lo mejor el personal (taaan agradables) y la comida. No hemos probado mejor Kottu o mejor curry que el de aquí. El desayuno espectacular y todo hecho casero en el momento. Sin duda los volveríamos a elegir. Pd. Nos hicieron unos mojitos bueniiiiisimos!

We loved this small hotel - six bungalows at present round a lovely pool. The location was perfect for visiting Sigiriya and the Cave Temples. The food was very good and the staff really excellent. Very helpful about arranging drivers for outings and to our next hotel three hours away. In fact we had the same driver, Buddhi, who was really nice and very informative. We met the owner of the hotel and enjoyed hearing about how it had come to be built and plans for the future. Last but not least it was very good value for money!

It was all good for us. The outdoor bathroom was stunning and a first for us showering under the open sky!

Kandalama Lodge is an exceptional hotel. Just 5 lodges set in a peaceful garden surrounding a lovely swimming pool. We had originally booked for 3 days but gladly extended our stay to 5. The lodges are charming, the bed very comfortable, everything was exceptionally clean, the air conditioning is efficient and the shower always had hot water (not the norm in some of the other hotels we stayed). Each lodge has a verandah and so even if it rains you can still sit outside and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. One larger lodge has its own private garden and swimming pool - fabulous. There is an attention to quality and detail throughout this property both in it's design and upkeep and in the service it offers. The hotel's openair restaurant and kitchen is not to be missed. This was the tastiest food we ate during our holiday in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan curry and the barrimundi were our favourites. We normally like to go out and try different places to eat but the food was so good here that we ate in most nights. A special mention has to go to all the staff who were helpful and professional. Nothing was too much trouble. I was ill whilst there and the staff found me the appropriate specialists, arranged hospital visits, blood tests etc. Particular thanks to Amila who escorted me through their medical system, so very kind of him. The lodge is outside of Dambulla and so you do need a tuktuk to get there or to other places of interest. The hotel has its own tuktuk service , so this is no problem. And we definitely preferred this peaceful location. The hotel can arrange arrange and provide tours. We had a lovely day tour in and around Sigiriya with Amila. And they provided transport to other activities we had arranged. It was perfect to be able to split the day between busy sight seeing, and the tranquility of the pool and beautiful garden. I'd be very happy to return here.

The staff welcomed us with a cold flannel and a fresh drink before showing us to our beautiful room . We had chosen a room with private pool which was very special . Although as it’s such a small hotel with the pool at the centre not having a private pool would definitely not be an issue . The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful !!

We had dinner on one night which was expensive compared to locally available food . But although presented beautifully wasn’t the best we experienced . Breakfast was lovely though , again beautifully presented not the largest of portions but plenty for us and I’m sure if you wanted more they would have .

Très bel hôtel facile d'accès, éco-pensé, peu de chambres et une piscine très agréable. Les chambres sont très spacieuses avec salle de bain extérieure mais protégée en cas d'averses. Petit déjeuner copieux, diner délicieux et personnel aux petits soins.

Les chiens (errants ?) laissés en liberté dans l'hôtel. Ils ne sont pas méchants mais quand on en a peur, ce n'est pas très agréable.

Beautiful location, fantastic food and excellent staff. A real oasis of tranquility. And close to the attractions of Sigiriya and Dambula. Could not have asked for more.

This is a small boutique hotel near Kandalam Lake, ideal place to explore Dambulla Cave Temple, Sigiriya and Safari/Nature reserves. We had a spacious immaculate room and a unique outside bathroom area, where you could shower listening to the birds. Open kitchen where you can watch the chefs prepare your breakfast and dinner. Presentation is clearly important factor, and enjoyed the well prepared dishes on offer.

Sehr schönes Anwesen nähe Dambulla. Ruhige und gepflegt Anlage. Besitzerehepaar kommt aus Deutschland und bemüht sich sehr. Generell alle Angestellten sehr höflich und zuvorkommend. Wir haben die Unterkunft für vier Nächte gebucht und von dort aus die Sehenswürdigkeiten der Umgebung besucht, die alle nicht weiter wie eine Stunde entfernt liegen.

Wir hatten einen fantastischen Aufenthalt, der insbesondere durch das aufmerksame und zuvorkommende Servicepersonal abgerundet wurde. Zimmer, Anlage, Essen und Getränke war rundum hervorragend und wir wären am liebsten noch länger geblieben.

There is nothing negative to say about this accommodation. All the staff in blue were the best. Excellent food. Really wonderful in every way. Nothing was too much trouble. The tuktuk driver Buddhika was especially helpful and gave us a very special few hours showing us the things we wanted to see. Would give additional stars if possible

It’s quite simple but very comfortable, really good food (approx. 12-16USD for a main so a little more expensive than local restaurants) and very switched on and friendly staff. A/C, safe box, teabags/kettle/mugs in the room. Nice swimming pool area which was always kept clean despite the weather’s best efforts! Outdoor bathroom was a really fun touch, though be aware that invites wildlife - first morning I was brushing my teeth when a baby monkey popped its head over the roof!

Only improvement recommendation would be to have proper blinds/curtains on the windows as the light comes in early which was quite intense after 24 hours on the go the day before travelling.

It is a beautiful little paradise with 5 bungalows, swimming pool, open kitchen and bar. Everything is super clean and the breakfast is great! Very quiet for a good night sleep.

Location is good in between Cave Temple and Sigirya but if you need restaurant for dinner you will have to take transportation because there is nothing around that you can reach on foot.

My husband and l have just spent three nights in this fabulous boutique hotel (five separate lodge rooms), which is as described and shown in the online photos. The entire property was exceptionally clean from the lush gardens to the pool area to the amazing tastefully decorated and quiet rooms. The huge outdoor bathroom is of a high standard with toileteries, a rain shower, and plenty of hot water. The food is outstanding and cooked by three chefs in an open kitchen, giving the guests an exceptional dining experience. I must highlight that the staff were attentive, very friendly, and catered for any requests. The property is tranquil and peaceful, an ideal location to visit Sigiriya and Dambulla Cave. Perfect for a couple. Would certainly recommend to family and friends. We hope to return one day.

Only a few slight negatives, the repeat lift music on a loop each night (3 night stay). A hairdryer in the room would be useful for the ladies.

De prijzen van het restaurant waren in USD en aan de hoge kant voor Sri Lanka. Eten is wel van hoge kwaliteit.

Un écrin de verdure, un peu excentré de Dambulla, mais aucunement dérangeant . 5 petites maisons disséminées dans un jardin tropical , autour d’une jolie piscine. Service parfait. Excellente nourriture. Notre propre tiny house possédait sa piscine privée. La salle de bains en extérieur est juste incroyable . Très jolie déco. Endroit de charme . Bon emplacement pour visiter les grands sites historiques et culturels.

Très humide, mais l’hôtel n’est pas responsable. Le revêtement de l’entrée des voitures pourrait être revisité pour éviter la boue en cad de pluie . Un sèche -cheveux de taille normale et toujours à disposition dans la chambre serait un plus .

No tenemos palabras para describir nuestra estancia allí. El lugar es increíble, muy bien cuidado, que trasmite paz y tranquilidad. Todo el personal es increíble desde el momento en el que llegas hasta que te vas. Muy profesionales y atentos a que todo esté a tu gusto. Nos alojamos en una habitación con piscina privada y la experiencia nos encantó. Estábamos en un apartamento independiente muy bien decorado, muy espacioso y muy cómodo. El cuarto de baño era impresionante, precioso, situado en el exterior. Todo muy nuevo y muy limpio. La cena y el desayuno nos encantaron! Felicitamos a los cocineros. El ambiente que crean todos los trabajadores es muy cercano y amable. Te hacen sentir muy cómodo. Uno de los mejores sitios en los que nos hemos alojado y una de las mejores experiencias!!! No nos olvidaremos...

Tener que irnos. Nos hubiéramos quedado a vivir allí!!! lo malo es que todo se acaba. Pero el recuerdo tan grato que tenemos de nuestra estancia allí seguro que nos acompaña toda la vida!!!

This place is a little gem. It is well situated, the environment is lush and green, the rooms are sizeable and well appointed, the pool is well cared for. Best of all were the delightful staff, who were without exception friendly, cheerful and helpful, and the food - the Sri Lankan curries were absolutely delicious and very reasonable. It is a short distance from the Heritance Kandalama, which is a spectactular, large hotel where there are numerous activities such as nature trails open to non-residents, but overall we were delighted that we were staying at Kandalama Lodge.

We are generally not keen on open air bathrooms and we did have the odd intruder (both feathered and furry).

Wat een heerlijke plek!! We hebben hier drie nachten gereserveerd zodat we naast het bezoek aan de cave temple en Sigyria ook tijd hadden om te relaxen bij het prachtige zwembad. Het personeel was geweldig, de jongemannen hebben ons heldhaftig gered van een spin die naar binnen rende, maar los van die ene spin geen overlast van beestjes gehad met de open badkamer. Het eten was ook heerlijk! En mooi om te zien dat ze alles doen om goed voor de prachtige natuur te zorgen.

Douche op zonne energie, helaas hadden wij de pech dat er een slechte dag tussen zat en hadden we geen warm water.

Lovely room, especially the bathroom, was a lot of fun showering outside while it was raining and seeing monkeys in the trees! Beautifully designed too, very tasteful. The pool is nice and also the restaurant is great food. Staff are very attentive and friendly.
