Hospitality: The family is incredibly kind and welcoming. They made us feel right at home from the first moment. The Food: The breakfast was delicious and very filling. We also asked for dinner, which they prepared for us—it was homemade and absolutely amazing! Highly recommend eating here. The Garden: They have a beautiful garden filled with many fruit trees. It’s like a little tropical paradise. The Room: The accommodation is simple but very clean, which we appreciated. Close to nature: One of the most unique things about this place is its proximity to nature. The hosts are very responsible and advised us to stay within the property between sunset and sunrise, as wild elephants occasionally use the road nearby.
Since it was rainy during our stay, small frogs kept coming into the bathroom through the drainage system (even into the toilet). This is just part of being close to nature and not the hosts' fault, but good to be prepared for!
My partner and I had stayed at a homestay in nearby Kimbissa in 2019 so we were looking for something similar within walking distance of Lion Rock to share with our friend this time round for 2 nights. Keerthi's homestay was clean and very relaxing. The hosts were kind, helpful and attentive without being intrusive. We had both rooms - the Standard Double Room and Deluxe Family room - giving us exclusive access to the large verandah, table and seating. The host cooked a lovely multi-dish curry for us on our first night which we enjoyed in the leafy and balmy setting with some cold beers and soft drinks. Keerthi also kindly organised an early breakfast the next day so we could get to Lion Rock early. The property is in a quiet location - apart from the odd barking dog - about 20-25 minutes walk from the ticket office near the base of the rock.
The shower in the standard double room was lukewarm. This didn't spoil our friend's enjoyment as she was able to use our shower in the Deluxe Family Room.
The host was amazing, even took us to the place where he grows all his own fruit and veg. Really nice guy and the room was clean and tidy and had a mosquito net already up.
The room was very nice, the owner checked me in before official check-in time.
Nothing
The rooms are comfortable and the family is very sweet!
Struttura bella, pulita, ventilatore in stanza, bel piccolo patio fuori dalla stanza dove mangiare. Proprietari gentilissimi e molto disponibili! Ottima cena e colazione! Purtroppo la doccia era freddina, ma dato il caldo non è stato un problema. A disposizione solo una piccola saponetta
Great home stay, Keerthi and his family are lovely. Would recommend.
We had a wonderful stay at this peaceful homestay nestled in a shady, tree-covered area. The setting is quiet and refreshing, and the atmosphere truly feels like a part of everyday Sri Lankan village life. The family was incredibly warm and friendly — always smiling, greeting us each time we came and left. Their kids are adorable, and the parents are always seen. Keerthi and wife were present and welcoming, making the whole experience feel like home. Breakfast was simple and tasty, and the vibe is very relaxed and uncommercialized. One of the highlights was just being surrounded by local life: we saw a large herd of cows crossing the road, villagers working in the fields, and some drying crops right on the street — little moments that gave us a real sense of place. The homestay is also in a great location — just a short distance from the two main rocks. There are a few great family-run restaurants within walking distance, but we had our own tuk-tuk, so getting around was no problem. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a genuine and heartwarming Sri Lankan village experience.
Keerthi and his family are very special. Had the best time here. I extended one more night. Food was amazing.
Host was really accomodating and engaging. A great base for exploring from.
Consideration needed if chosing to travel by foot, location is close to wild elephants.
This homestay is amazing! I've only been there for 1 night but the people who own the house are extremely friendly, plus 2 kids that are super sweet! For dinner I ate here and the homemade food was delicious! The room was also very clean! Very close to the Sigiriya Rock and in the middle of the nature. Highly recommended!
Everything was perfect, they helped and made our life easier. Amazing breakfast also in a really relaxing place. If you want to visit Sigiriya stay here!
We had a lovely stay here. Very close to nature, the family were great - we had a homecooked dinner on our first night which was amazing! Loved our little terrace and the sounds of nature.
A bit far from the main area but perfect to get away a bit, enjoy the silence.
Kindness of staff. Elephants at night
