Gorgeous setting and home! Rooms were very private and quiet! Best breakfast of our trip! Delicious and lots of choices! Very quiet, beautiful views, spotless! Bedrooms and shared baths were ample size! Very convenient to Emyvale and Glasslough! A favorite!!

Our flight into Dublin arrived at 4:30 am! (What is Aer Lingus thinking, arriving at that ungodly hour?) We drove to Portinaghy House, hoping they might allow an early check-in, and they did .... as well as giving us breakfast. Reception by Robert and Nuala could not have been better or more accommodating; plus advice on local sights, restaurants etc.

Welcoming reception and very comfortable room. Convenient parking at the property. Breakfast room very charming and a great choice of food provided as requested.

We had a very enjoyable stay. The breakfast was lovely , could have anything we wanted.

Portinaghy House is an amazing country house experience. Overlooking the lake , (with tarmac 3.5 km easy walk ) I had a lake view room, well worth the little bit extra. I was here for a wedding in Castle Leslie and taxis were readily available for transport to and from venue if required. Very friendly environment ,lovely warm welcome, breakfast was perfect. I would definitely stay here again.

The house itself is gorgeous and in a great location. They also have very good breakfast. They are close to the Castle Leslie Estate and a perfect place to stay if you are attending a wedding or some event there. Our room had a full length mirror which was perfect for getting ready for the wedding we were attending. James also offered us a ride to the event as taxi service can be spotty. This is not normal and shouldnt be assumed that he would do that though I wouldn't put it past him, he was very nice! Thank you for hosting us!

I booked last minute and when I turned up the owner didn't know about the booking. However, he still got me sorted, even though I arrived quite late and last minute. Very friendly and accommodating! Also honoured the price quoted.

Really lovely stay while attending a wedding in Castle Leslie. The hosts were kind enough to drop me to the wedding and the breakfast in the morning was a real delight. Would definitely recommend!

Incredible location overlooking the lake! The room was so comfortable and warm, lots of light and the shower was good and hot. Robert is the most gracious host and went above and beyond for us. He even dropped us to Castle Leslie for a wedding we were attending. Amazing breakfast prepared by a lovely woman, sadly I forgot her name but she was great craic! The woman who came to clean too was really kind and accommodating too.

Great place to stay if attending a Wedding at Castle Leslie, rooms are big and comfortable and breakfast is delicious! Robert and Nuala were both so friendly and we felt so welcome.

Beautiful house and location.. so peaceful! Very clean, comfortable and a spacious room overlooking the fields and lake. I loved that it was also a farm. I slept like a log. The owner Robert was very nice, as was the lovely Nuala who served me a yummy breakfast!

Only that the bathroom wasn’t ensuite.. but it was only a few steps away down the hall so I didn’t mind at all as my room was so inexpensive. The bathroom was also very big and spotless with a separate bath and shower, fully stocked with shampoo etc!

Warm welcome, quick efficient check-in & pre check-out. Very large, spacious bedroom with a huge double bed. Lake & countryside views. Supern hot shower & plenty of towels. Excellent early breakfast (by request) - engaging staff. Very convenient for anybody fishing Emy Lough. Top Class

Nothing 😊 A gentle suggestion would be to provide a small bottle of water and a couple of sachets of coffee/tea bags for the bedroom. Otherwise 100%! Robert is an absolute gentleman who really takes excellent care of his guests.. I highly recommend this accommodation.

This is a beautiful place to stay. The farmhouse is spacious, really beautifully decorated and you get a warm welcome on arrival. Really spacious room with a double aspect, one side looks down to Emy Lough, which is a short walk away, and well worth a visit, or a swim. Breakfast is served in the lovely dining room around a large table, where you can swap tales with your other guests. There is a further table if required. Cereal, fruit juice etc is available and the cooked breakfast is delicious and beautifully cooked. You are a short 4/5 minute drive to town. Altogether a really great choice for a stay.

I stayed at Portinaghy house while I was attending a wedding at Castle Leslie. It was very close by, about 5 minutes drive. When I arrived, I enquired about taxis to take me to the Castle, the owner kindly offered to drive me there himself. At the end of the wedding the Castle staff give lifts to people not staying there and they dropped me back. The room was warm and comfortable and clean. The breakfast was delicious. I would definitely recommend this place to people.

Beautiful house. Lovely and friendly couple who were so welcoming. Delicious breakfast in the morning. Very clean and comfortable. Black out blinds , curtain liners or shutters would be ideal to aid sleep as the morning sunshine woke us a little too early.

Welcome was wonderful, I had bought a take out as I was late arriving. I asked to borrow a plate, and the host insisted that I sit at his table and eat my meal. Made feel very welcome, nothing was any trouble. Room was lovely and clean and bright and comfortable. Breakfast was great.
