Staying here was an absolute delight. I only returned to China yesterday and am already reminiscing about my journey in Nepal. With Shira taking such good care of me, Kathmandu was not only my first stop but also the warmest beginning to my entire trip. Beyond providing daily breakfast and laundry services, she treated me like family with thoughtful care. Staying here gave me more than just a safe, beautiful, and cozy room—it showered me with genuine kindness and warmth in a foreign land.

This homestay was run by a lovely couple who made us feel very welcome. The homestay was perfect and in an excellent location.

Diese Unterkunft war der teuerste in Nepal. Die Bilder waren vielversprechend und ich freute mich sehr. Ich habe 73 Euro bezahlt. Für 2 Nächte, 2 Personen mit Frühstück. Ich hatte Zimmer mit Terrasse. Sehr schöner Ausblick. Rechts daneben befindet sich ein Restaurant, die war allerdings schlecht besucht. Daher keine Lärmbelästigung. Die Terrasse die zum Zimmer gehört wird mit dem Vermieter geteilt. Weder Terasse noch Zimmer und Bad wurden geputzt. Die Sohle meinen weißen Patschen waren nach zwei Tagen schwarz. Die Bettwäsche sahen auch nicht frisch aus. Einiges gehört erneuert. Es erfüllt zwar ihren Zweck es sieht aber schrecklich aus. Vermieter müssen leider immer wieder neu investieren. Das ist hier nicht der Fall. Sie waren ausgesprochen freundlich und behilflich. Das vegane Frühstück war köstlich und bestand aus gekochten und gebratenen Gemüse.

From the homestay one can easily walk to Durbar Square and wander around all over Pathan. The hosts have a traditional rooms that have a unique feel to it. Looking out of the terrace, one can see the temple and the other houses, people-watch! Conversations with Uncle Shudarshan and his wife Shila in their common area is so fun and insightful. I learned about Newari culture and Nepal. They were also perceptive when I shared about my own culture, so it was somewhat like a cultural exchange. They are so kind and accommodating whenever I needed help.

The mattress is tough and the water pressure is weak so showering takes a little longer. The water went out once (maybe the water tank was empty) and electricity went out once during my stay. It is a homestay though and even hotels can the same problems depending on the price or just circumstances, so it’s not below my expectations.

It is a very very beautiful place just 100m from Durbur, the couple who is managing the place is very very nice. It was my best stay in Nepal.

This place is a real gem. I felt so welcome, Shila and Sudarshan are the loviest people and they took such good care of me, even making me soup when I was feeling a bit sick. The room is very cosy and I loved sitting on the terrace in the sun, the view of Patan is wonderful. I also found Patan a really nice alternative to staying in Kathmandu, it’s more quiet (especially in the evening) and all the main sights of Kathmandu are still only a short taxi ride away.

Das Homestay liegt ideal ganz in der Nähe des Durbar Square. Die Zimmer sind sauber und sehr gemütlich, der Ausblick vom Balkon außergewöhnlich. Die beiden Gastgeber sind sehr freundlich, super hilfsbereit und sehr herzlich. Alles Top!

A cozy, beautiful room with very friendly hosts. We liked everything.

This homestay left a deep impression. When we arrived, we were greeted by the couple running the homestay. They offered us local snacks and fruit and warm chai. They were so hospitable, helpful, and kind to us -- we felt so welcome both in the homestay but also in Nepal. The owners helped us with everything above expectation which we really appreciate. The room itself was a decent size, with a balcony that allowed us to enjoy the lively square and soak up the Nepalese history and culture. The location is perfect: there are delicious restaurants and cafés right at the same square. It is also a few minutes away from the Durban Square, Patan Museum, and local markets. We highly recommend this fantastic homestay!

We loved everything. It was only a bit difficult to find the right entrance the first time.

Very cosy, nice, bright and intimate apartment, with local atmosphere. Terrace is wonderful. Shanti atmosphere. Sun and bells in the mornig... Very romantic . Best place in Katmandu. Owners are very nice and very helpful people. .

The house is a traditional lovely building, in a quiet and very charming square of Patan. The hosts are so lovely and made me feel very welcome, I even joined their Saturday Pooja (morning ritual) ! My balcony over the temple was my favorite place for breakfast and chilling! Sila is very attentive and warm and I would definitely return back to it if I get the chance!!thank you!!!

I liked everything!

My daughter (5) and me stayed 5 nights in the heart of Patan in PatanGhar Homestay. It's a beautiful Newari style house with the most friendly hosts Shila and Sudarsan! It feels like we made new friends here. They were so sweet to my daughter Nilay and it felt like a home away from home! The location and the view from the room were magical. Several times we saw religious musical events passing our house. We also enjoyed the breakfasts and relaxed moments in our nicely decorated room and balcony. Now we are back home and miss this place. We will definitely come back here in our next visit to Nepal!

The start feels like a warm welcome: sweet, helpfull and caring. The first day I was invited for dinner which is sometimes wonderfull when travelling alone. The room is fantastic decorated with great care. Beautifull view, lot of flowers. A paradise. We had the most amazing time at Patan Ghar Homestay! Breakfast was delicious every morning, our room was cozy and clean, and the view from the balcony was truly breathtaking! Shila was beyond lovely, she treated us so kindly and guided and helped us until we got on the taxi. Best place to stay! Can’t wait to come back!

Tuvimos una excelente experiencia en este alojamiento. Los dueños del lugar son una pareja encantadora, muy serviciales y atentos! Mi marido estuvo mal del estómago y ellos estuvieron atentos todo el tiempo ayudándonos con todo. El desayuno muy rico y la pieza preciosa. Es una casa tradicional de Nepal por lo que es una muy bonita experiencia. La ubicación perfecta, al lado de todo. Patan es un sector tranquilo y que vecinos amistosos pudimos hacer todo caminando. Tenemos muchas ganas de volver a visitarlos. Muchas gracias por todo!

The hosts were warm and welcoming and we learned so much about Nepalese culture from them! It felt like travel at its most real and authentic form. This is not a hotel or a normal Airbnb, you are literally a houseguest staying in family's spare bedroom and learning what their life is like. There are 2 bedrooms in the photos, we stayed in the smaller room with the wooden ceiling and a large roof deck. From the deck, you're meters away from the roof of a beautiful temple and the homestay is just a block from Patan Durbar Square.

Wifi was slow and there was a dog that was initially not very friendly to us until the hosts made an introduction

This homestay is a real gem! Shila and Sudarshan are incredible hosts, always going the extra mile to make you feel welcome and at home. I felt so cosy and happy for my week staying in that VERY beautiful room. The neighbourhood is wonderful to walk around, there are brilliant cafes a hop and a skip away, and I never got tired of the view out the window (see my photos). Lovely homestay with equally lovely hosts who go out of their way to ensure your stay is comfortable. I became sick just after arrival and the hosts certainly went above and beyond in taking good care of me. Stayed for 5 days and would have stayed longer if allowed the time but alas visa was expiring.

Me ha gustado todo! Dormimos en la habitación con terraza, una delicia, estar con las puertas abiertas viendo el tejado del pequeño templo de la plaza y desayunar allí. Si quieres estar en una casa nepalí, con una familia nepalí … y sentirte como en tu casa … este es el lugar ! Me han robado el corazón, buena y bella gente a la que deseo lo mejor.

Staying with Shila and her family has been the highlight of our trip to Nepal. It was like we were adopted into the family--we all had tears when it was finally time to leave. Shila was truly like our Nepali mum and was so caring, loved chatting and made extra sure we had everything we needed. The room was SO cozy and felt like our bedroom at home. Our balcony overlooked the square and we were lucky enough to see some local celebrations while sipping our coffee. The homestay is located right by the museum and there was the perfect little coffee shop next door. I truly cannot recommend this place enough. Shila we love you! We'll come back to say hi whenever we're back in Kathmandu :)

Great place and ubication. Hosts were very special and interested in their guests being ok. Great food and attention, and specially being recieved in their home by their family, fiving tips for places to visit. Thank you for everything!

L'accueil était exceptionnel !!! On a l'impression de faire partie de la famille. La chambre a beaucoup de charme et est confortable. Le petit-déjeuner est délicieux et copieux. On est à deux pas du Durbar Square tout en étant au calme. On y retournera la prochaine fois qu'on ira à Katmandou.

Staying at Patan Ghar homestay in Kathmandu was an absolute delight! The hosting family is incredibly sweet and friendly, making us feel right at home. The hostess, Sila, makes the best morning toast in town and ensured we had everything we needed, taking great care of us. The house itself is beautiful and atmospheric, it's a spacious guest room with private bathroom and a balcony that overlooks a charming little square. The area is bustling with locals during the day and peacefully quiet at night. Exactly what you need if looking to stay in a "no touristy" Kathmandu. Our experience was undeniably warm and homey. Thank you so much for welcoming us into your home!

I cannot recommend this homestay enough, it was an absolute highlight of my stay in Patan and truly felt like home! The owners are so incredibly kind and the location as well as the rooms and house are just beyond beautiful. It is a true "home"stay in every way, allowing you to get a taste of the local culture. Also amazing for solo travellers; Sila takes you in as a family member right from the start (she took so well care of me when I got sick!) as well as the rest of the family: so generous with their time, smiles, as well as help and advice! They also connected me to organise my next hiking itinerary, and they even brought me and my friend along to a puja which was so special to be part of! In summary, you will never want to leave, and I hope to be able to come back, just to stay here again! Thank you all for everything 🤎🧡 I already miss living with you all!

The homestay owners are one of the kindest people I've ever met in the world. I'd go back to Nepal just to stay with them again. I highly recommend this place, and experience the warmness and excellent hospitality of this home. It's a home away from home. You become family.

L'accueil trés chaleureux de l'hôte Sila et de sa famille. La chambre confortable est située au sommet d'un petit immeuble et la terrasse donne sur un temple. On est à 30 secondes à pied de Durbar Square : situation rêvée. J'ai diné pour un prix très raisonnable avec ma charmante famille d'accueil et je me suis senti comme à la maison. Nous nous reverrrons lors d'un prochain voyage.

Trosuver l'accés est un peu difficile. Il s'agit d'une maison privée et non d'un hôtel. L'entrée est à l'arrière du petit temple à droite du Patan Royal Cafe.

Beautiful traditional Newari house, friendly and helpful hosts, always with smile. Shila’s food was excellent. The house is in a prime location, 2 minutes away from Patan Durbar Square but quiet , easy to go anywhere. There are 2 beautiful temples in front of the house, I found a sacred feeling around the area. Nepali people say friendly monkeys come mean you have luck , so I got luck on the last day that 3 monkeys visited me ! Patan Ghar provided high quality toilet paper, it’s a bonus compared other places even hotels in Nepal.

It was a unique experience - look at the life of a Nepalese family from the inside. the room is very cozy and there is a balcony that overlooks the temple. very convenient location: nearby attractions and souvenir shops, cafes. The family greeted me very friendly. I felt comfortable at home, I felt cared for.
