Suuuuuuper duuuuper accommodating. ❤️ They changed us rooms pero more like an upgrade. Sofer bait ni kuya and doggies. MOST OF ALL, ang gandaaaaaaaaa ng placeeeeee! 😭😭 Grabe ang ganda ng view, ang ganda ng labas. Ang hangin sofer nakakarelaaaaax. For sure babalik at babalik kami. ❤️

Absolutely beautiful location, extremely comfortable rooms that felt like our own studio apartments complete with a gorgeous view.

The one downside is that there are only 2 options for getting there from the main port. Make sure to take the local bus.

The room was clean, modern and comfortable with a balcony with beautiful ocean view, also has air conditioning and wifi, Mareeya and her family are very kind hosts, delicious home cooked meals available on request- some of my favourite meals in the Philippines so far! Located about 20 mins from Peter’s dive resort by scooter- I really enjoyed my stay here:)

On the main road to Padre Burgos- so some traffic noise, but also handy for travelling by bus/ scooter to town / dive resorts

The property is right on the beach, with its own entrance to the water. Very secured, gated property. My car had a secured parking on the property.

Everything is really great and perfect and enjoyable except that the dogs sometimes bark at night which could interrupt sleep, esp for people like me who have light sleep... ; )

Ma'am and her family were very very kindness. Dogs were very cute as well. This place was a little far from the airport but very good location. I saw a full moon whichwas very bright and beautiful. I believe Kaguyahime lives there. Hahaha. The place was very calm and sea sounds was very good I'll definitely visit there again. Thank you Mareeya.

Everything is perfect. The wonderful welcome and caring of the host, Mareeyah, the very scenic view from the room, the high quality of the room, furniture and decoration. The motorbike rental also.... Even traveling solo, you dont feel alone.... The coral reef just in front is amazing of good shape and very nice, which is quite seldom nowadays...

Maria was a very kind and warm-hearted host. She was very helpful and available at all times. We felt very comfortable staying with her. The room was clean, and the food we ate tasted excellent.🌷

Es war durch und durch perfekt. Ich hatte ein wunderschönes Zimmer mit Blick aufs Meer. Die Gastgeberin war so unfassbar net! Sie hat mir mit allem geholfen womit ich Hilfe brauchte. Da es in der Nähe nicht viel gibt empfiehlt es sich dort zu essen. Das Essen war einfach nur himmlisch! Stets frisch zubereitet. Man hat sich dort wirklich wie zu Hause gefühlt! Sehr zu empfehlen!!!

This place is a hidden gem. Very quiet secluded beautiful property. The host and her husband are awesome friendly people and we throughly enjoyed talking with them. Also the host is an excellent cook! We had dinner and breakfast there before on our way and both were prepared to perfection. My one and only complaint is that It’s a bit far from the ferry in Massin and it was very hard to find a good rental car to travel there. I was not prepared to travel that far. I thought I could find a tric or taxi but none would take us that far. The rental car people we rented from were terrible but that isn’t the properties fault. We were just staying there for one night while using the ferry to go else where, but this place needs to be a place you will spend 4 nights minimum. We will definitely go back and learn to dive there in the beautiful pool. This place has so much to offer

Portofino Homestay was amazing. Mareeya was an incredible host who went above and beyond to welcome us into her space. For example both nights we stayed Mareeya asked what we would like for dinner and she would go to the local market to buy fresh ingredients, best food we’ve had in the Philippines! I have a severe peanut allergy and Mareeya made me feel very comfortable when eating, as she cooked all our food from scratch and was really aware of the impact of my allergy, which can be rare in Asia. Breakfast was also amazing, loads to choose from and again made fresh just for us, all home cooked. The pictures don’t do the beauty of the space justice, such a nice location and homely feel. You can rent a scooter directly from here and ride around southern Leyte. If you are coming to this area for whale shark watching in Padre Burgos, you can stay here and access the dive resorts on the bike Mareeya rents (it’s not too far, about 15 mins). We didn’t know this and we booked to stay at the dive resort where we were doing the whale shark trip, but wish we didn’t! If we had known, we would have spent the whole time at Mareeyas place. The room was relatively basic but had everything you would need and was clean. The view from the room was also incredible, directly out to the ocean.

That we didnt know we could stay here and still access diving trips!!! There is a table and chairs on the balcony of the room, but if I was being picky, comfier furniture to lounge about on whilst looking and the ocean reading with a coffee in the morning would be ideal, the bamboo furniture (whilst authentic Filipino!) is just not great for being comfy! (As I said, picky)

We ordered Grilled Fresh Catch Fish, Chopsuey, Pork Sinigang, and French Toast with Egg, and every single dish was cooked to perfection. It truly felt like a warm, home-cooked meal, but with restaurant-quality flavors! A special touch that made our stay even more memorable was when Maria surprised me with a complimentary breakfast after I mentioned that February 14 was my birthday. It was a small but thoughtful gesture that we truly appreciated. Most importantly, Maria is an exceptional host—extremely accommodating and kind. She ensured that we had everything we needed and made us feel at home throughout our stay. If you’re seeking a tranquil seaside retreat with excellent cuisine and warm hospitality, Portofino Homestay is the ideal choice. We eagerly anticipate our return!

Since Portofino Homestay is in a somewhat remote area, the internet connection can be intermittent. This is understandable given the location, but we believe that investing in Starlink as an alternative internet source could be a great upgrade for the property. A secured and stable internet connection would benefit both guests and the overall experience of staying at Portofino.

The room is so cosy and the view is stunning! Mareeyah is the kindest and her and her family go out of their way to make sure you feel so welcomed and have the best time.

Staying at Portofino Homestay felt like being welcomed into a family. The place is super clean, modern, and has an amazing view of the sea. But the real highlight? Maria, the host. She’s such a warm and wonderful person, always up for a nice chat, and her cooking is out of this world! We’re still dreaming about her pumpkin with beans in coconut milk—so delicious. She also rents out scooters, which made exploring the area really easy. And with Sogod Bay right at the doorstep, the location couldn’t be better. Honestly, it was more than just a stay—it was an experience. We loved every moment!

Portofino Homestay is an absolute gem! From the moment we arrived, Mareeya welcomed us with such kindness and care, making us feel at home right away. She went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, from travel tips to delicious home-cooked meals. The homestay itself is peaceful, clean, and beautifully maintained, offering a perfect place to relax. It’s right by the beach, the room is big and comfortable, the shower is great and has hot water. There is a lot of attention to detail at Portofino. Mareeya, Craig and her family couldn't have made us feel more welcome. Everything you could wish for in the room from adaptor plugs to an umbrella if it's raining! It's right by the sea and you have breakfast overlooking Sogod Bay. Swimming pool also! Would recommend to anyone. We shall return!

I booked a room that said I had breakfast included. But when I left I was asked to pay 300 pesos because I had asked for bacon.

What a wonderful and pleasant stay we had with Maria and her son. The welcoming was as if you would come home. Beautiful views from the balcony over the bay and the surroundings. Big, deep, and very clean pool. Great bed, nice, thick, and comfy. Great AC! Good bathroom with warm shower, not that powerful, but if you stayed in the Philippines before you know that high waterpressure isn't a guarantee and we found it sufficient enough. Big TV, although we didn't use it, because we had a great and honest conversation with Maria the rest of the evening. Great breakfast in the morning, with a beautiful view. It was a pity that we booked another hotel, or else we definitely stayed longer...

There were no real downsides with the room itself. Maybe there isn't much to do around the house/homestay. But Maria is entertaining enough and we didn't had any problems with it. There are scooters to rent, and we were by car, so if you want to go out and search, there are options. There are a lot of dogs in the neighbourhood and I'm not a big fan of barking dogs, but having a second house in Spain, where they have the same ideas about dogs as in the Philippines, I know I need to bring earplugs. My partner had no problems with them, by the way, so it's more my sensitive Euro ears. 😅 Maybe a little fridge in the room and some space to hang clothes? But that are small things compared by the warmth and inviting feeling the family gives you when you are there. Probably, I could have my beers chilled if I asked for it, and there are cold drinks available.

Our stay at Portofino Homestay was perfect. Mareeya was so accommodating and helpful, her advice was always on point. The food and breakfast were always great as well as the view, even on a rainy season day. Will definitely come back here if we have the chance!

The owner and her kids are very hospitable, kind and always helpful. The place is beautiful, has a beautiful pool, and relaxing ocean view. All the facilities are provided in the room and toilet is clean. Perfect for couples. The owner also always looks presentable! Makes very good breakfast! Bed is super comfy! Value is definitely worth it for the paid price.

Area of improvement - water pressure of the shower can be a little stronger. Overall, the stay is exceptional. 10/10 💯 excellent place/owner/family

This stay was amazing and we were only there for one night. The location is stunning right on the water and our host went out of her way to make sure we were well looked after. If you heading to south Leyte I couldn’t recommend staying here enough

Everything about the stay was exceptional. The accomodation has a private beach that can be seen literally from the bed. It has all the facilities and the staff is really kind and attentive at all times. Worth mentioning the great food they prepare. Everything was very good and tasty, so we did not even bother in finding other locations to eat. Thanks Maria and family for the nice stay😊

Maybe the cost of the motorbike rent was a bit overpriced based on the average pricing we've seen on the Philippines.

We stayed 3 nights in Portofino South Homestay and it was perfect. This is a really nice place with really nice people. They were always there to give us informations about whale sharks tour, good restaurants, nice beach, boat shedule to go to Limasawa island and Siargao island, … We could enjoy their nice swimming pool during our stay and we could feel peaceful in that quiet place. The view and the sunrise from the room were beautiful and the room was really clean. The breakfast was really good and they doing good lunch and dinner as well. We could also rent a scooter at Portofino South Homestay so it was really easy to go to the whale sharks tour in Peter Dive Resort. We had only 20 minutes driving scooter on a nice road along the sea. Thank you for everything ! ❤️

I loved my stay here. It was comfortable and quiet. The woman and her family who owns the property were so kind and helped me multiple times. They helped me with transportation, organizing a whale shark tour for me, etc. I ordered several meals (mostly breakfast) as the place is a bit outside of the town and it was more convenient. Every time I enjoyed my food. Ive been to several countries and stayed in countless hotels. I liked staying here so much that i booked an additional day. If you're looking for a quiet and relaxing stay, I fully recommend this place. They really made me feel like I was at home away from home. Thank you so much.

Water pressure in the shower was sometimes low and can effect the water heater, but I realize this is the reality of being in a remote area in the Philippines. Overall it was fine and didn't effect my happiness with my stay. Malitbog is a small village, out of the way and difficult to get to if you dont know what you're doing. Luckily I was in contact with the owner and she helped guide me every step of the way. When you take a bus, be prepared to add a lot of extra time from what google maps says as the bus will make many stops along the way.

Everything in Portofino Homestay is so nice! Mareeya and her children are the nicest and so helpful! The place is so confortable and close to activities, the scoiter rental makes is really easy. I didn't get to try the new pool and I am more of a beach person but it looks amazing!

The hosts are friendly fellow travellers, they anticipate their guests needs and cater to them. The room is high quality, spaceous and clean. The AC and the Internet work perfectly.You literally have the sea view from your bed and the sea is a stone throw away. The room that you are in is a bit secluded and not the same house as where the hosts are, so you basically have that area to yourself. Nothing will disturb your meals on the veranda, beside possibly a couple of dogs who I swear eat anything from bread to salad ! When something is needed there's a button in the room and someone is there in no time eager to help. Top notch service. There's a feeling of peace and serenity at that place that I will surely miss when I get back home.

The place is away from the shops or restaurants and you depend on your hosts (they know this and are always at your service) to get you anything. Whilst the sea is right there it's not exactly attractive to go swimming , you need to go to a proper beach, which is gorgeous. I stayed at this lovely homestay by myself for 5 days and enjoyed it , but it's probably better suited for couples, friends or families. And I gotta say, food could be a bit better but they order it and maybe in the province there aren't so many options.

Everything was great! The Hoasts Mareeya and Greg are doing their best to help you in any possible way, they also book tours and transports for you if you need some. We even got a wonderful tuna dinner when we arrived at 10pm! Best meal I had in the Philippines so far! 10/10,would stay again :)

Really nice place by the sea. Friendly and helpful staff. Really good wifi and AC. To top it off, we had an fun evening singing karaoke with the staff and some other guests.
