Reviewed Sep 12, 2026Featherhouse is situated in the Colesberg CBD within easy walking distance of the most popular restaurants and other amenities. I welcomed the security features and felt safe during my stay. The friendly welcome by the host, and the spotlessly clean and fresh apartment contributed to a positive experience.
Current renovation of the property (paving of driving and parking areas) presented a small temporary inconvenience but will add great value to the property once completed.

The bed mattress is very poor. The grounds are untidy. The bed linen should be replaced with duvets etc. The neighbourhood dogs does not stop barking at night. Location is dodgy.

Unfortunately someone (last guest) left what appeared to be black snot or something on the underside of the duvet. Also finger marks of wiping. Sheet and blanket underneath duvet so no exposure and I'm sure no one expects that but certain people are disgusting exceptions to decent behaviour. Staff must check better in future. Bit horrid...

The first site, it looks unsave for a person not knowing the areas. But when you enter the big gate, it looks very safe . The only negative was the big dog of the neighbors that barks the whole night.

Noisy, as the closed up inter leading doors allows noise levels. Fridge not working, dog friendly so expect dog doing their business and owners not picking up after them( only discovered when I stepped into it) External light switches off before it is light outside.

We were the first people at the guesthouse for the day, but was refused to park my brand new expensive car underroof. Anther couple came 3 hours later and got underroof!! Tv does not work. The lady who hand keys over dis not had a clue of what is going on or not. Was totally unhelpful

I called the host, asked if there was any possibility of me checking in slightly earlier as i was a solo traveller who had just driven 9hrs and just wanted a place to drop my luggage whilst I went out to get Lunch and explore the town then return at the set check-in time which was 3pm as it was my first time in the area. He refused, I then proceeded to cancel the booking however the cancellation policy didn't allow for a refund. This policy should be looked into as i paid for a service that I didnt use, even if it was just to allow me a safe space for my Luggage and camera equipment as i feared that it would be stolen from the vehicle. Im sure the CPA would beg to differ regarding this policy.
