Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Lovely bar, bedroom was very comfy and spacious.
Food wasn’t as good as I expected from the reviews. Pretty average for the money.
Room very nice clean and aired. Excellent breakfast and evening meal was a generous portion to.
Lovely rooms, accommodating staff and great food. Nothing was too much trouble and the stay was exceptional.
Interaction was good with staff and customers.
The shower wasn’t great and it might be an idea to put handles at the bath for older people.
Relaxed atmosphere, beautiful location, wished we could have stayed longer, highly recommend
Location was good shops were a 5 minute walk and had lovely views. Great Dark sky area
Nothing
Good location, lovely rooms with lots of extra touches. Lovely bar, restaurant and garden

A lovely hotel that’s serves lovely food, very dog friendly and the staff were very professional

Nice staff. Excellent breakfast.
Twin bedroom looked tired. Bath shower was poor.
Lovely clean and spacious room with the most comfortable bed. We slept so well, and that's rare for me. Dinner, breakfast and service was top. Friendly and helpful staff. Pretty surroundings with a pleasant river walk close by.
Staff really friendly and helpful. Rooms extremely well equipped- and fab extra touches of fresh fruit and even a wee dark facecloth for removing make up. Super peaceful
The staff were super friendly and helpful. The location was fantastic! Lots to see and do. Food was excellent 👌
Everything...it was absolutely wonderful.
Lovely comfortable and spacious room - we had the deluxe double room. Good bar and restaurant serving fresh local produce. Parking on site. Nice local walks from hotel.
Modern beautiful building , room was clean and tidy

Excellent dog friendly hotel Lovely part of Northumberland and staff very friendly Food amazing
Amazing place to stay. Great value for money. Comfortable, clean, bright and spacious. Jacuzzi was a bonus for the whole family. Excellent breakfast!
We stayed one night only to visit the observatory; unfortunately it was a cloudy night so we didn't see any s-tars, but the stay was so lovely we didn't even notice! The room was immaculate, large and very comfortable. The breakfast was the best breakfast we've had in the UK in a very long time! And finally the staff couldn't be faulted, everyone we spoke to, from the reception staff to the lady who cleaned our room was friendly and happy. Outstanding place, we will definately be back!
Nothing
Friendly and good location for our plans
All fine but small shower- we only paid for small room so can’t complain
We’ve been several times before. A pleasure to stay. Staff very welcoming, good food/location and recommend.
Bed on this occasion was uncomfortable.
We arrived after a 7 hour-long journey, somewhat tired, with two very hungry kids, and with barely enough time to unpack and go to the observatory next door, where we had booked for one of the sessions. The lady at the reception was very accommodating and managed to squeeze us in for dinner before our observatory visit. The food was absolutely superb, fresh and delicious, and the service fast and attentive. Our rooms (1 in main building, the other an outside cottage) were fantastic too - spacious, comfortable, very well appointed, and with amenities that exceeded expectations. We all had an excellent night and would have stayed in bed much longer if it hadn't been because we had a full, delicious breakfast expecting us, and we had to leave to continue with our trip. We have however promised ourselves that we will be back very soon - it's definitely worth the journey!
Breakfast and dinner were great and the my kid loved the bedroom.

Great location for a weekend with friends. Good food, clean and comfortable. Friendly staff.
Ambience was really beautiful
Nothing everything was perfect
Everything the room was excellent
Having to leave at 10am too early
Accommodation and food were both great
Everything! Location was great, beautiful area and walks right from the hotel. Loved the eco credentials. Restaurant was great. And I booked into the dark sky observatory and had a wonderful night.
Nothing
A good stay slightly ruined by a rib eye steak that was too thin and as a result not cooked properly ( medium rare) Looked more like a minute steak
Lovely spacious room, small fridge for milk, fan to combat the warm summer. Evening meal in the restaurant was good as was breakfast the following morning. Well worth a visit to the observatory at the back of the hotel. Very informative presentation and chance to look through a telescope.
Wonderful hotel in a delightful little friendly village. The food was fabulous and there were lots of lovely touches in the room for the dogs and for us! I can’t recommend enough
Nothing!
The beds were super comfortable and little touches like toiletries and fruit / biscuits in the room were appreciated. We’d booked for the observatory which was very interesting.
Having seen the menu for the restaurant I was really looking forward to eating there. Sadly the food really fell short of expectations. Dinner was overpriced and overcooked, it was very quiet for a Friday evening and I can see why.
Nice old building with clean modernised interior. Felt very welcoming. Car park is excellent Rooms were very comfortable
Clean, beer garden excellent
Staff were pleasant but not terribly friendly
Mooie ruime kamers. Vriendelijk personeel en gezellige bar. Ontbijt en avondeten waren prima.
N.v.t.
Bel établissement dans un petit village tranquille. Le restaurant sert une cuisine excellente, et le bar a un magnifique choix de boissons, avec cask ales. Les chambres sont spacieuses et les équipements au top.
Was clean and comfortable. Value for money
Bit outdated
The little extras in the room , apples oranges and plums in a fruit bowl and nice biscits in a jar , lovely clean rooms although bathrooms could do with modernising
Nothing
Excellent food. Friendly staff. Excellent service.
Room a little tired.

Really lovely place, the rooms are vey nicely decorated, and they have fruit bowl and some lovely biscuits and fantastic range of drinks to make. Restaurant food very good, and dog friendly.
Nothing it was all great.
Location. Good value. Observatory. Staff.
The food. Adequate but bland.
Really lovely setting, the room was an exceptionally generous size and very well furnished with everything you could need - even some little activity packs for the kids. Food in the restaurant was lovely with a great selection to choose from. Well priced and delicious. The staff were extremely attentive and helpful with all of our requests and questions - we booked B&B but were leaving very early in the morning and they even offered to pack something up for us to take if we wished.
Nothing to dislike at all
Excellent food and service.
Amazing beer garden and outside are. Great chef food is always spot on. All staff are so polite and nothing is too much hassle! 5⭐️service
Bathroom areas need some updating tiles instead of plastic panels
Nice breakfast
Beautiful village in the stunning Northumberland countryside.
Lovely pub with nice food. We were there on a glorious evening sitting in the garden.
The choices for breakfast were many & plentiful. They have charging facilities for EV's but only 7Kwh. Close for walks.
Large airey room. Great gardens and outdoor areas.
.
Very good location. Very good breakfast. Good value.
We were in a disabled room so the shower was not enclosed. The floor became flooded each time we showered. We had to use a broom to keep the water from flooding onto the hallway carpet. I suggest this needs to be improved as very slippery and dangerous for guests.
Clean and lovely
Calm friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Food was spot on. Staff were cheerful and happy to help.
Nice gardens, good location.
Very tired in places, step into bathroom tripping hazard
Convenient location for my plans in the area. Clean room. Nice breakfast included and friendly staff at breakfast.
The man on reception when I arrived was not welcoming & didn’t provide any information at all. This is not a good first impression for guests. No staff around in the evening in the restaurant / bar area. Walls were very thin and I could heard the guest on the next room continuously coughing all night it drove me crazy.
Food, staff, cleanliness
Cosy pub atmosphere.
Felt a bit rushed through dinner. 2 courses and an amuse bouche in under 1 hour.
Good hotel in lovely location with great food
De locatie is prima, ruime kamers. Gezellige bar en uitstekende keuken!!
It was perfect for my needs , very clean , staff where brilliant Food was fantastic

We have stayed once before, the room has always been clean and comfortable. The location and parking are fine.
The basic booking in greeting wasn't even to be called friendly, after a long drive it would be nice to feel welcome, rather than say your name, be handed a key then find your own way around without a smile .
Very well kept, clean and tidy, friendly and very helpful stuff
Room was good with plenty of tea/coffee etc, plus a bowl of fresh fruit.
Food was OK, but expensive for what it was.
Very quaint
Toilet roll
This is the second time we have stayed and it is as perfect as we want cant fault the place. As and when we are back in the area we will be back
Nothing
The room was spacious, attractive, comfortable and clean. There were so many thoughtful touches like the fresh fruit, water in the fridge, good quality tea/coffee, lovely fluffy towels and flannels and even a slip mat for the bath. We had absolutely everything we needed.
Nothing - it was perfect.
We didn't know the restaurant would close around 7.30pm midweek which is crazy early so started to make alternative arrangements. The group split up and ate elsewhere only to find the restaurant did manage to rustle up an option for other guests. The en suite had plastic walls, the double bedroom only had a plug socket on one side, some of the staff weren't very friendly, plastic on the walls in stairwells to protect the walls I guess it's important but looks cheap; a protective effect could be achieved with another look. It was the most expensive place on our tour during the week and definitely the worst.
Nice comfortable rooms and very clean. Situated in a lovely village.
We booked the hotel in large part due to food reviews but when we turned up for the evening meal we were told there was a problem with the kitchen and there was an extremely limited menu. Only two choices for main course. Food that arrived was very poor and vastly over priced. Very disappointing. Staff were also very rude. If they had told us about the issue earlier we would have driven somewhere else to eat but by the time we found out we had already had a drink so could not drive and were forced to make do.
Sfeervolle inn in Wark.
Comfortable stay with very helpful reception staff.
Nothing, enjoyed our stay.
The property was wonderful. The staff were fantastic, friendly and attentive, nothing was too much much trouble. Breakfast was full and filling.
A minor niggle was that the shower was difficult to maintain a steady temperature, as would drift from setting during showering.
The garden was charming
Good breakfast but only few available times when we checked in which was a shame.
Friendly staff and fellow guests. The dog friendly attitude, staff and dining area. The sustainable ethos. Good quality food and pleasant garden.
£15 per night for the dog is too high. For those staying several nights it is too much. No extra treats , no extra cleaning the room , no benefits. My room had a disabled person’s shower, which meant a soaking wet floor and a nasty damp smell. Needs a better slope on the floor to the drain.
Great location with good local walks
The observatory
Room was 1st class, lovely bathroom. Location was perfect for travelling to other areas.
Being asked every morning what time we would be down for breakfast and were we having dinner and if so, what time. As this was a chill out vacation, we don't like getting up for a specific time nor ensuring we are back at the hotel to have an early dinner.
Accessible room with walk in shower. Room was lovely and cosy. Lovely garden. Many choices for breakfast and the dinner menu was fantastic. We really enjoyed our food.
Nothing
Breakfast and dinner excellent all made with locally sourced high quality products. Staff all excellent in particular one of the staff who unfortunately didn’t get her name but has a little girl who is 5. Friendly efficient a real asset.

Large room and bathroom. A separate little ‘cottage’ ideal for taking the dog. A dog welcome pack and towel provided. Very clean and accessible. Steps and ramp to the room. Lovely walks around the area and central for visiting attractions.
Nothing
Friendliness of staff and eco ethos.
Car park awkward to get out on motorbike
We had a lovely stay in one of the lodges at Battlesteads. All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and made us and our dog feel welcome. The food (breakfast and dinner) was excellent and several real ales are available on draft. There are lots of nice walks in the surrounding countryside and an excellent walking guide leaflet is available.
The lodge we stayed in was massively overheated when we arrived, probably because a previous guest had turned the heating way up and the space is so well insulated it took a day to cool down to a comfortable temperature -- but not the fault of the hotel!
Great location for travelling around Northumberland
Breakfast and dinner was excellent, food was very good, staff were really friendly. Very cosy and welcoming place to stay.
Lovely breakfast. Lovely staff. Great space to sit outside. Great location.
Nothing i can think of.
The hotel was very nice, gardens could be tidier
The hotel and lodges were okay, dining area had no character
We stayed here some years ago, it was amazing and thats why we returned, lots has changed since our first visit and sadly not for the better
The bedroom was incredibly hot, struggled to sleep Mattress very uncomfortable Menu in the restaurant was limited and some things were already unavailable even at 7.30pm The food was average We had to ask if we could have some sugar 3 times at breakfast There was dog poo on the grass in the garden area
Fabulous location. Clean comfortable room. Easy to park. Friendly staff
More vegetarian options Parmesan is not vegetarian
Fantastic dark sky location, friendly sraff, commitment to sustainability and environment. Nice selection of beers and great to have the observatory.
Nothing really
Clean good evening meal near nice walks along the Tyne. Good garden
We have been several times very pleasant place
Food not up to its previous standard
Everything
Road noise from traffic outside the bedroom window
Bed was very comfy and room was clean, there was a dinner for our dog in the room. Dinner for us was delicious. Bar area cosy and very dog friendly. Would stay again
Superb stay in every way. The room was huge with an enormous bathroom with jacuzzi bath a v large shower. Lots of space and great little extras like tray for shoes, coat hooks, home made cookies with complimentary coffee & teas and selection of fruit in fridge. outdoor wash point for dogs, boots etc and safe cycle storage. Evening meal was excellent and staff couldn't have done more. highly recommend.
Nothing.
Very nice country inn with added accommodation of various types, including a terrace of five chalets. These were great: very spacious rooms and bathrooms, well equipped, very warm, comfy extra large bed, plenty of seating, and a desk. The inn serves food, dinners were of very high quality. Staff were fantastic. There is a little observatory in the garden, with a 14" Schmidt-Cassegrain Meade, and guests can book to be shown the basics of the night sky. There are many nice walks in the area as well as good cycling on rural lanes if one doesn't mind plenty of hills.
Slightly on the expensive side for what it is.
The breakfast was poor. Greek yoghurt , it was not and there eggs royale was covered with mock hollandaise sauce, which wase fowl. Clearly scrimping on quality of food.
The above.
Food was amazing
