Avalon

Given that there is currently (July 2026) an outbreak of dengue fever in Sri Lanka, it is a disgrace that a.) the windows were drafty and there were many mosquitoes in the room, and b.) the mosquito net had several holes, rendering it useless; and after we expressed our concern, all we received was an electric fly swatter. How was that supposed to help us overnight, etc.? The dead mosquitoes on the bed proved that there had already been plenty of mosquitoes before. We decided to leave. We received a minimal refund (we were reimbursed for 1 night out of 2), even though we hadn’t used any towels, bed linens, or the like up to that point. Okay. Despite asking the manager, we were never told why we didn’t get a refund for the breakfast we’d booked. We understand that every accommodation relies on revenue, but especially this year (when even the military was deployed in Sri Lanka to combat the dengue fever epidemic), it’s hard to understand why the rooms aren’t better prepared. And don’t even get me started on the cleanliness or the security (door lock) of the accommodation. Disappointing

L'emplacement

Pas entretenu et je me suis même demandé des puces de lit tellement je me suis fait ravagé Le p’tit dej bof bof et fade

Location is amazing and it was great value for money. Great air con and bed

Nothing

location, breakfast, terrace and especially the friendly helpful staff ❤️✨

matress needs to be replaced 🙏🏽

Location is set between the popular beach areas and town/train station Staff were very helpful Breakfast was great and included!

Ground floor room opened onto breakfast area so basically had no window. Little bit dirty

1. Very close to the beach. 2. Super friendly and helpful staff!!! 3. I had a big terrace

1. The room is super small (10 meters), there was no wardrobe to put your clothes. 2. Problems with the water, it was no pressure and half of the time I didn’t had hot water.

really friendly and helpful staff ❤️ every day different breakfast, location in front of restaurants and beach, good working AC

a lot of mosquitoes, matress was not comfy because it should be replaced, bathroom really dark as well with the lights on

Locatie

Bedden

Nettes personal.

The host was very nice. Breakfast was traditional sri lankan food, which was very good.

Všechno, co jsme potřebovali, bylo kousek - půjčení skútru, obchod, restaurace, pláž. Snídaně byla dobrá.

Větší hluk. Všechno jde slyšet.

Ambience

Rooms are a little congested.

Huge bed, very clean room and super close to the beach. There was a lovely area at the front of the property to chill and chat with friends

The room was small, but relatively spacious and had a private bathroom and air conditioning. The balcony was nice to sit on and due to the end of the season it was not overcrowded. Breakfast was good and sufficient, but I have experienced elsewhere with larger portions. It was a pity that the cafe was not working, probably because of the end of the season. The guys were nice and always helped.

The room had a window like as only a door to a shared balcony, so there was not much daylight in the room.

Very good value for money and ideal location for going surfing and exploring Weligama. Nicely done outside area to relax, have a drink and play cards. Generally up to standard for what you'd expect from a budget hotel. Not luxury but all the essentials were provided. Very good coffee with breakfast.

Floors in the rooms/bathroom could have been a little cleaner and the bathroom was quite damp although I appreciate this is often a problem in Sri Lanka. Breakfast option very limited and only provided when prompted - eggs + toast only.

Great location near the beach . Friendly staff and good atmosphere . Clean room with AC . Good breakfast of fried eggs on toast and a coffee . Good value for money

It is located a few minuted from the beach and the staff is really fun to hang with, they play awesome music as well. Good vibes

Wi-fi in the room was too weak to be able to work. I was wroking a few hours everyday and had to use my phone's hot-spot to be able to sign on for work meetings.

Lovely staff who were very willing to accomodate our check in and check out times. The shower caused the entire bathroom floor to pool with water, meaning that there was a constant puddle at the toilet and everything in the bathroom was wet.

Very nice and helpful employees, good breakfast and nice outside area, Air conditioning. A Little bit loud, you can here everything outside from the bed

This property is located very close to the beach. Breakfast is quite good and wifi is awesome.

Rooms were a bit smaller than usual rooms in Srilanka. Also room didn’t had fan but only AC which can be very chilly sometimes.

My friend and I stayed at Avalon for two weeks. Hands down, the best thing about this place is the people—the staff basically became our friends. For breakfast, there were four different meal options, plus drinks like coffee, tea, or fresh-squeezed juice 🙂 We really clicked with the hotel crew, and on our last night, they whipped up a goodbye dinner for us. It was super tasty and honestly, it really got to us — such a sweet gesture. Oh, and it was my birthday during our stay 🙂 The guys from the hotel surprised me with a little cake, candles, and even sang me a birthday song. It was so thoughtful and just the sweetest thing ever! The place itself is awesome too — there’s this cool porch where you can just chill in your free time. The beach is only three minutes away, and there’s a big grocery store nearby, along with tons of cafes and surf schools. And if you ever have any questions or need help with anything, the staff is super accommodating and always goes out of their way to solve any issues. They really make you feel taken care of!

Very welcoming and felt like home! Amazing location, amazing people and they opened up their cafe as well !!! Also offer surfing and if you want to rent a motorbike too! Always make sure to stay here every time I come back to Lanka 🫶🏻

Lovely staff

Sadly was the most unclean place I stayed while I was away! About 20 mosquitos in the shower wet room, generally very dirty room.

Avalon was a perfect place to stay, the room was clean and the host was lovely. Comfortable bed and a hot shower too.

Very nice place with outdoor area, tasty food and nice stuff! Close to the beach and you can do your loundry there

Great people! Invited us for dinner at New Year’s Eve. Helped us organizing a scooter at night and a whale watching tour. Really kind. Also the room was very clean, WiFi worked well - nothing to complain at all.

Nothing

Good location nice size room nice breakfast

No hot water

Location, air con

Breakfast was very slow, no WiFi in rooms

It had everything we needed: AC, comfy bed, en suite bathroom, located close to the beach and food city! I really liked the decoration of wood and Plants

Nothing

Unfortunately the hostel was under construction when we came. I mean, if we would know that earlier we wouldn’t book a room. I guess it can be nice there when everything is ready..

Good price for a private room with AC. Decent location.

The WiFi didn't work the entire time I was there. They said it goes down when it rains. With it raining every day I guess it'll NEVER work then? All the nearby cafes WiFi worked fine. The mattress was also quite thin, not the most comfortable bed.

The hosts were so friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxed. It was perfect location from the beach and had a lovely balcony. Breakfast was yummy and filtered water tank was very handy. The room had everything you needed: mosquito net and AC. They also began doing board rentals too which was great!

Good location. The staff were lovely. Room had air con which was so nice.

Nothing

Very good located in a little sideroad close to the beachfront. We had a big balcony which was to share with one other room, but luckily no one was in that room. Very close to all the surf schools where it's almost to difficult to choose from. There would even be an in house option but cause we were there in the low season we decided to have a look at different options. Young staff but whatever you need they will help you and prepare you every morning a new variation of a small breakfast which is enough before you go surfing.

little bit a small room for two people with Backpacks but doable. Thin mattress with a hard underground.

Best stay in Waligama! Service is amazing, the people were so kind and welcomed us even days after our stay when we came back :) Special thanks to Teddy, Malith, Vidushan and Sasanke.

The location of the facility is unique, close to Weligama Beach. Surroundings among beautiful vegetation. The facility's employees are very nice and helpful. Tasty breakfasts. The room was well-kept and clean. The bed was large and comfortable. The room has a mosquito net and well-functioning air conditioning. The water in the shower was cold, but it didn't bother us. I recommend.

The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. They made us feel like we are visiting friends and were always helpful when we had questions or needed help with some arrangements. If you want they can arrange hot water in your room but honestly you don’t really need it, as weather is really warm. I recommend the rooms with AC - it is working very well and it is a game changer during the hot afternoons. We really enjoyed the garden.

As we had a longer stay, some rooms could use a bigger rack or other place to put your clothes and maybe a drying rack would be nice, but you can also use the back of the house to hang wet clothes. Our bathroom did not have a hook or any kind of hanger, but the other rooms I saw had, so this is an easy fix.

Very Clean, central, very nice people help with everything, highly recommended

The hosts are very nice and attentive. It is a good value to have a simple breakfast ready at the property, especially in expensive Welligama. It is located just 100m from the beach in a quiet side alley. Our room had a shared balcony, nice for yoga or just chilling. Outdoor dining area well suitable for laptop work.

Room is small and hard to ventilate because of the mosquitoes. The doors to the balcony don’t fit well so there is space for the mosquitoes to get trhough into the room. Same for the bathroom. However a mosquito net was provided over the bed.

Super central location and very helpful and friendly staff. Would love to come back! :)

The guys managing this guesthouse are super friendly. They take their time to make you a breakfast every morning and get to know you a bit. Location is very nice closeby everything in Weligama. AC working well, wifi sometimes very good sometimes not so much reception in the room.

My room had no curtains so it gets quite light in the morning. Bathroom was clean but had a strange smell, I think it's because there might be a lot of smoke outside the building or something like that.

Avalon is a great place to stay in Weligama! Location is perfect, rooms are clean and have a nice aesthetic! also the common area is very chill and a nice place to enjoy! highly recommended! also you can cook your own food if you want to save money🙌🏽If your staying in weligama for one day or longer time this place is a perfect place to stay at! Also the people there are really friendly and hospitable!

nothing!

The host Tharidu was amazing, really friendly and happy to help with everything. We loved the garden, breakfast and Sri Lankan tea, which was all cooked fresh by Tharidu in the morning. Location was awesome.

Bedroom could have done with a refurb; lick of paint, a bit of colour. Also, there was no natural light coming into the room, and the main light was really intense. A softer bulb or adding a lamp would be good. But apart from these small things it was lovely. Would recommend.

Good location, friendly and super cool staff.

No window, really damp, super small, horrible bathroom with no hot water.

Friendly staff Great location just by the beach Very clean room Mosquito net Good A/C

No hot showers

Great location, friendly and helpful staff, nice breakfast!

The property is clean, calm quiet and relaxing. Perfect for staying away from the business in Weligama.

I liked everything about Avalon. The hosts are so kind and accommodating for me.

The staff were really helpful and friendly.

It wasn’t very clean. The room had a lot of mosquitoes.

Small room, but clean.

All good

The nicest hosts, helped out with every question and also rented a scooter from them:)

The Hotel is fairly new and looks really cute. We were able to check in earlier which was great since we arrived directly from traveling with our backpacks. The room was alright and the bed nice and big. Room was a little small but for only sleeping plenty. Breakfast was amazing and we had something different every single day!

The room was so hot that even the fan was doing nothing. We opened the windows at night however the host is coming and going with the TukTuk - so we were awake often.

The staff is super friendly and helped me with everything. I highly recommend this place. Nice rooms, all clean and organized. I would definitely book again!! Thank you Ishare and Tha

Beautiful place, the host made me feel right at home and made sure I had everything I need. The cabanas are clean and the beds are really comfortable The outside area offers a perfect place to hang out and have a nice evening
