Good location, friendly staff, dog friendly.
We had everything we needed, friendly greeting on arrival, nice comfortable room and a lovely freshly cooked breakfast.
Great location, charming little town on the edge of Exmoor. Beautiful setting, largely unspoilt.
Sad to see such a wonderful old establishment in need of so much investment. It probably just about gets by but unfortunately looks quite dejected. Ok for a couple of nights perhaps and a chance to see such a beautiful area. Doubt we will stay here again.
Friendly, clean and homely feel. Old fashioned & quirky which was a nice atmosphere.
Unfortunately due to sickness the bar was shut but obviously this could not be helped.

Location was perfect, breakfast was 10/10. Hotel dated but comfy clean bed. Staff all lovely & very welcoming.
We arrived on a Sunday & disappointed to find the pub closed at 14.30 and didn’t reopen for the day
Love the building but the room was very tired and poor bed was comfortable stuff was great. We left early and they arranged to give us a breakfast bag which was very good.
The room need a redecoration
It was an old fashioned hotel. Lovely food. Lovely staff. Very friendly place to stay.
The hotel is in a great location in the centre of Dulverton and close to lots Exmoor has to offer. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly. An excellent breakfast, and the evening meal was even better.
Good location, the room was clean and comfortable and very reasonable value for money. Secure room to lock my bike away which was great. Makings for tea, coffee and hot chocolate in the room plus Penguin biscuits were much appreciated. I was grateful that the hotel advised me before my stay that there would be no food available so I booked next door at Woods which was popular (booking advised) and provided a very good meal although it was not cheap!
The hotel is quite tired and there was no service available (drink or food) the night I stayed. The breakfast was adequate, no more - there were no cereals and the cooked breakfast was of limited quantity. The church bells which are close by ring through the night!
Friendly staff, breakfast always freshly cooked to order. Rooms comfortable and clean.

It’s location was the best
Untidy edge to it in the public areas . Cobwebs on the ceiling above the bed
Lovely old property in the centre of Dulverton. Very reasonably priced with breakfast included Room was clean and well presented, tea & coffee available in room. Dinner available at extra cost and was absolutely delicious! Perfectly cooked schnitzel and very tasty Breakfast was equally as tasty
Mattress was a little too hard for my liking but slept well enough
Lovely hotel. Lovely food
Bed was a little hard but otherwise fine
The owners were very accommodating, they made us dinners even though they had stopped serving, thoughtful and kind
Great location to stay in dulverton. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff welcoming and helpful.
Decor is very tired and a bit worn. Bath shower was clean but toilet didn’t flush very well and probably needs replacing. Floors and walls a bit old and could do with updating. Windows look out onto the high Street so could do with net curtains. One window didn’t open which was needed in the summer. A fan for summer would have been welcome.
Friendly and relaxed. Lovely room and comfortable bed. Really amazing food. We took advantage of the two course deal and had a beautiful steak and starter.
Could not really fault the room apart from the ceiling needed a little tlc with the paper and the stain.
The family wo run the Lion are fantastic hosts. They helped with so many requests. The food was fantastic...Monday night pizzas are great, one of the best pizzas ive ever tasted...and breakfast was amazing too.
Trevlig personal
Excellent location and large room
Great atmosphere , unique old hotel feel . Really helpful staff and delicious breakfast

Great location with parking on the street outside. Breakfast was really great and exceeded expectation. The room is clean and comfy.
The room was a bit stuffy but there was a heat wave before our stay.
The people are great. Room was lovely and the breakfast was so good!
Staff were wonderful and helpful. We arrived on pizza night and got sorted for the last 2 pizzas despite arriving late after a long days cycling. Bicycles were kept inside in a back room so we're safe and secure. Breakfast was good and service was great. Location in town was wonderful
Nothing
Staff very helpful. Happy to store bikes. Curry evening food was excellent. My husband injured himself just before arriving They contacted Richard who was ex paramedic. He did a fantastic job We also had to leave luggage unexpectedly to be collected. It was not a problem and it was handed over to the courier after we left.
It was during the hottest June day and the room was very hot. A fan would have helped however we didn’t ask for one
Good location, central Dulverton
Plumbing
Great staff who were exceptional in meeting our needs as a group of cyclists. Secure bike storage snd a delicious early breakfast!
Room was a little musty, but it was v clean and spacious.
We had booked a premium room and it was OK. Generous size, good mattress, dreadful pillow and suboptimal shower in that it was tricky to get your head under it.
Very poor quality pillows and shower too low and not adjustable enough to get your head under without ducking
The breakfast tasted lovely, and included all my favourites, the dining room was clean, and the service was top notch
Easy location
Chaotic welcome, room smelled stuffy and it was freezing!
Great location right in the heart of dulverton.
The hotel is very dated and needs some TLC. Our ceiling actually looked as though it was going to cave in from the damp issue or water leak they clearly have had before. The bar closes at 3pm on a Sunday but yet you can’t check in til 3.30pm?! This doesn’t make sense to me. £99 I personally think for one night is too much for what we had and I wouldn’t pay it again.
Friendly staff. Helpful with bicycle storage. Full gluten free breakfast
Disappointed there were no evening meals available (4 of us would have eaten there & had to find elsewhere.)
Great location, really friendly, good for dogs, comfortable, spacious and clean.
It’s not 5 star but it’s really good.
Lovely breakfast
Vriendelijk personeel, goede bedden
Niets
I enjoyed great hospitality from the hosts and very much enjoyed a delicious dinner, and breakfast the following morning
Location
TV was too small & bar closed. Shower not strong
Very central to town very clean and lovely staff nothing to much trouble
Great location in the hub of the village An ideal spot from which to explore Exmoor and beyond Parking was provided nearby free of charge Excellent restaurant next door
The hotel would benefit from total refurbishment Bar was closed
Great location. Really lovely owners who were very obliging. Breakfast was very good as was the meal we had on our first evening. We were there on a cycling trip and were able to store our bicycles inside the property which was great.
The property was rather run down which was sad as it had so much potential and so well situated in the lovely town of Dulverton.
Breakfast (full English) was hands down the best breakfast we had in the UK. The family run hotel was intimate and cozy. Our room was a twin with exceptional decor and homely feel. The beds were amazing. I enjoyed having a beer in the afternoon with the locals and chatting to the fellow guests (some longer stays and some tourists like us. I arrived on a sunday when the main bar was closed however this wasn't an issue as there was someone waiting on arrival for me and accommodated me despite being late. Truly appreciated. We enjoyed pizza night on Monday. So close to all facilities - we attended church steps away on arrival, and there is a coop supermarket also within steps and all the town attractions.
We wish we could have stayed longer!
Lovely food cooked fresh served by warm friendly staff. Rooms were warm and comfortable. Really good nights sleep!
The decor is a little tired but as dog owners this really doesnt bother us.
Stored our bikes securely. Very comfortable bedroom.
Location was perfect for me. Breakfast was very good abd tailored to your requirements.
Shower did not work in the room (7) but did have a bath.
Location was perfect for exploring Exmoor. Accommodation was adequate and our bed was really comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. Dog friendly.
Our room at The Lion Hotel would benefit from redecoration as it was outdated and looked tired.
Comfortable older hotel in nice condition. Good breakfast. Good location. Very friendly owners and staff.
Location was very good. Staff very friendly. Excellent breakfast.
Room very tired. Shower tepid. Basic TV very small.
Lovely location and the hotel was a step back into the 60's so quirky.
Needs a decorative makeover but it would lose its eccentricity.A steo back to
Friendly staff v helpful .
Good breakfast excellent service from all staff . Comfy bed lovely linen and towels . Excellent value .
La localisation Le petit déjeuner full English Parking public à côté gratuit la nuit
Rien hôtel style vieille auberge mais chambre triple confortable
This is a good place for bicycles. They had indoor storage for our bikes. The rooms are dated, but they were comfortable and quiet and everything worked. Both dinner and breakfast were very good. The hosts were especially helpful and made lunch for us to take on our ride for a reasonable price.
.
Very clean, friendly staff, and perfect location. Mattress was comfy, daily room clean and re-stock of tea was faultless. Excellent cooked breakfast.
Shower - hopeless on pressure so had to resort to baths all the time (plenty of hot water though). Room furniture - not enough flat space to put things on. The wardrobe was v unsafe - felt like it would fall on top of me (needs fixing firmly the wall). The curtain kept coming off the end of its rail (reported to staff). Needs a shelf or two in the bathroom for toiletries etc (there were signs there had been one).
Perfectly placed, does it's job for the right price. Country pub accommodation
Toast needs to come with breakfast not while waiting. Hotel needs up grading....but then price would rise so it's a balance.
Good location in the centre of the village.
Comfortable, but could do with a face lift
The staff are brilliant, friendly and helpful but not intrusive
Beautifully situated Very friendly atmosphere Very large bedroom and very comfortable bed The team really looked after the guests nothing was too much trouble and very nice people
Carpets need replacing
Excellent food. Responsive and friendly host.A room of character with plenty of space..and a good bath
Really good sized room for us and our two dogs. The room could do with a coat of paint and a bit of tlc but it was spacious, a really comfy bed with lovely linen, the bathroom was gleaming, nice fluffy towels. We ate in the restaurant one night, the food was very reasonably priced and excellent ingredients. Breakfast was just as good - all good quality items. All the staff were extremely friendly. Location fabulous.
Very picky but a brighter more welcoming lounge area when you walk in would be nice, it was quite dark and didn’t look as though it was open to start with ….. but that’s just my personal preference - we really enjoyed our stay.
Great location Lovely food Friendly staff
Decor is a bit dated,
Perfect location. Very good breakfasts and they allow dogs.
Nothing is
Excellent location
Staff and location
Lovely service. Comfortable and spacious rooms. Good food (both dinner and breakfast)
Very slow wifi (basically unusable, I had to hotspot from my phone) There was a really loud pump behind the toilet that would just start throughout the night.
Centre of village location. Friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast tables laid out correctly, not the "Help yourself and the cutlery is over there" attitude.
Creaky floorboards! I didn't read the advert correctly so the cold shower came as a surprise but the bath was nice and hot.
Location Good breakfast 😋 Clean room Good welcome
Very dated No atmosphere Cold shower Could do with upgrading
Friendly helpfull staff
The rooms are in need of attention. we had two rooms between us. one of the room had very big cobwebs in that had been there for a long time. the other room wall paper was coming off the wall with damp
Very comfortable, warm welcome, good breakfast.
Interesting plumbing. Church bell that rang regularly until midnight and then from 5am.
Location very good & convenient for exploring Exmoor & Dunster Show. Fortunate to get one of the 3 parking spaces outside the hotel-having dogs does mean you have extra baggage etc. Our welcome was by a very jolly lady.
Unfortunately we were informed on arrival that the Chef was unwell & no meals available that evening however there were many eating places close by. I had been informed on booking that they did not cater for Lactose intolerance-I agreed to bring my own no problems. Breakfast was entirely mis-managed which appeared not to have been forward planned. There were many guests & a printed menu on each table would have speeded up the process, also self-service of cereals etc. (usually the norm)-choice was limited corn flakes/granola. Fresh fruit limited to a few slices of banana or apple. My toast never arr-my friend who opted for poached egg on toast commented that the toast was 'soggy'. Another guest handled the coffee percolator to other guests-otherwise fill-ups would not have likely happened. Most guests were keen to get on with there visiting of the area. I had no information about the fee charged for pets. My breakfast certainly was not value for money.
Food good. Friendly staff.
Service a bit slow, could have done with more staff.
Isolation thermique.
