Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The rooms are very nice, and where I was it was also very quiet, which I appreciated. The bar was very convivial too. All of the staff were very pleasant, efficient and friendly. Unfortunately I wasn't there long enough to really make use of all the facilities...perhaps on my next visit !
My only problem was that the room I had was in a separate building from the main hotel, and from that room it was quite a trek up a very steep hill to get to the carpark. Luckily I didn't have much to carry myself, but my colleague had quite a bit of gear, and even dropping this off at the main reception and walking up from there wasn't easy. Someone showed us a short cut across the grass to the carpark but this would only be feasible if the grass was as dry as it was when we visited...and when we got to the top of the hill a water pipe was leaking, and had turned the area around it into a bog which we struggled to get around ! None of this is the fault of the hotel, but I think the distance of some of the rooms from reception needs to be made more clearly known when booking, as elderly or disabled people would have trouble getting up the hill to accommodation buildings.
The lounges, the view, the setting, ev charging
Lack of communication by management to the young but enthusiastic staff about availability of bar menu only on Mon to Thurs.
Excellent breakfast, cooked to order
The weather!!
The hotel itself was beautiful and the breakfast was good. The bed was very comfortable and the tea/coffee facilities were great. The bathroom also had lovely shower gels and the shower was very good.
The lady checking us in at reception kept putting her fingers in her mouth and handing us paper and a pen after, this for me was just not acceptable. Instead of having a room in the hotel we were put in a room in the court yard. The room was okay but was not very clean. The headboard of the bed was thick with dust. There were a few spiders in the room. The windowsills had not been dusted and hold mold on them. Some parts of the bathroom also had mold. Part of the wall had mold and the wall paper was coming off. The remote for the telly was thick with grime and dirt and had definitely not been cleaned in quite some time. I actually had to dampen a towel and clean the place and the remote before I could use it.
Hotel felt very traditional / Olde English which was great. Restaurant was very good! There was an iron and ironing board.
No fridge in room. Could not get BBC1 on the (small) TV. Leisure facility needed to be booked in advance at an extra charge.
Breakfast was very good room was very clean
Very easy check in and a blue badge space near the entrance (my husband has a blue badge) the room was ready when we arrived - very clean, modern and well equipped. Comfortable beds and nice bedding - Molton Brown products in the bath room. Didn't have dinner there as only option was a very expensive and minimal menu of fine dining - not our thing at all. Breakfast was fabulous - lots of choice of drinks, continental and cooked breakfast menu. Beautiful grounds - Lovely environment - like staying at Downton Abbey!
The evening meal option was just a very expensive fine dining experience with hardly any choice on the menu- not our thing - we drove into Evesham to get some food for a tenth of the price¬!!!!
Liked the historic style of the hotel in beautiful surroundings
Our room was classified as an ‘Executive Double’, which was ‘dated’ and at best described as ‘shabby’.
Struttura, giardini, camera, colazione
Grounds and outside of the hotel. The property was ideally suited to explore that part of the Cotswolds
The room was dark, very little natural light, and always felt 'clammy'.
Nice places to sit inside and outside
Rather gloomy. Needs sprucing up. Some staff rather miserable. No SKY tv. No toilet brush in bathroom. Very expensive to have a swim at £40 per couple
Excellent breakfast in beautiful surroundings
Odd things in room should have been checked - failed broadside lamp bulb and failed bathroom extractor fan
It is a beautiful Location
No lift Difficulty to find room and carry luggage, no smart tv .
Interesting place
Shabby in places
Modern room and good location for what we needed it for.
Not a lot of signage when you arrive, car parking isn’t clearly pointed out and we were asked to move our car but then loads of other cars parked where we had been.
The architecture, the sympathetic restoration of an elegant grand old manor and the stunning grounds, beautiful trees and exceptional views
Nothing
The food was excellent.
The car park was up a steep hill. The steps down from it to Reception were steep and rough stones no paving.
La ubicación y el desayuno
Estaba sucio, mal mantenido, viejo.
The room was comfortable and the location of the hotel was great with good views from the gardens etc. We had a pleasant supper and a good breakfast, with helpful and efficient staff. We were able to swim at the neighboring health centre but it was quite expensive.
We went in August and only for one night so we were hardly top priority but we had a rather dreary room at the back of the hotel complex. The reception staff were not particularly friendly or welcoming and we had no assistance getting our baggage to our room which wasn't close to reception. Our request for the room which had been accepted was not fulfilled.
The property was clean and had character. Enjoyed our short stay.

Lovely large and well fitted bathroom . This was our 4th stay at this hotel and we shall return
The bed side light did not work and only one hand towel in the bath room
Breakfast was nice and comfy bed!
Overpriced and a bit grotty. We came for two nights of our honeymoon and unfortunately we wished we spent longer at other locations. Pricing, anything even slightly special would have been nice, more chairs at the spa, more reasonably priced food, food service was very slow
Beautiful place the garden’s were LOVLEY and our room 104 in the main building was 10/10 from decor to the view was exceptional, staff very professional from reception to bar staff made are night memorable 🫶🏻
It was a wedding on which was lovely to see in the gardens the bride and groom and the guests having a lovely time but unfortunately we couldn’t get a meal as the kitchen were busy doing the wedding party. We were offered a sandwich and there was bar snacks but if you plan to have a meal make sure that the venue has the availability because when they’re busy, I don’t put the kitchen is fully open Having said that we had breakfast in the morning and it was absolutely outstanding.
Dinner was superb on both nights. We were also very impressed that a large and cheerful wedding party and reception (in the Orangery) took place with no noise nuisance to disturb residents. The hotel has beautiful views, and a huge and splendid rose garden. Also, although mistake had been made with our booking (we had asked for a twin bedded room, and been given a double-bedded one in the annexe), this was immediately rectified with no fuss, and we were given a different and very comfortable room in the main building.
The evening dining room staff, despite all being very pleasant, are clearly overworked, not well-trained, particularly in the use of the program that records what patrons ordered, and there are far too few of them, causing a very uneven response to orders and mistakes that have then to be rectified. The hotel really should invest in more staff: the food at dinner is superb, and deserves better than this willing and pleasant but somewhat haphazard approach.
Beautiful historical property.
Staff could tailor cooked breakfasts for you. The staff were nice and friendly for the most part as well. Lots of different areas to sit in both indoor and out. Food menu is selective but everything on offer is delicious. Lovely grounds and views, we loved sitting outside for breakfast. Powerful shower and comfy spacious bed.
Bathroom needs some love. Stains on the bath, dents on the bottom of the bathtub, one of the covers off the top of the tap were missing as well. Breakfast set up was crammed into a small space which made is hard to navigate around people at times. Car park is up a step incline via the road or you have to climb up some stairs to it. Not the best for people with poor mobility, those in wheelchairs, or families with prams. Room was too hot. Appreciate it's a heatwave but upgrade the rooms to air con rather then just a small fan. Shower isn't movable so you have to stand in one fixed position. Lots of light came in under the door at night time from the corridor lights. Breakfast menu is good but portions are small. Not massive amounts to choose from at the continental section either. Staff need to be more attentive to some of the outdoor communal areas, few glasses not collected and left there for a few days. More hangers needed in the wardrobe as well. Hotel and spa need to communicate better, the spa couldn't find our booking even though we had paid. This was sorted out in the end. More than one toilet roll in the bathroom would have been good.
Large three room suite Room decoration and gardens
Spa access extremely limited and expensive Broken electricals in room No electric shaver socket in bathroom wardrobe space only sufficient for a overnight stop pre-ordered extra sheet not fitted to bed. limited food choice particularly at weekends - no menu changes or daily specials Breakfast goods left in uncovered bowls all day long. Bed on top of air-con unit so VERY high up - not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. needs a step(s) for access. No TV in lounge room - unusual for a suite. Toiletry shelf in shower too high for anyone of below average height. No evening turndown service. Restaurant service erratic - one night poor, second night good.
Drinks on the terrace - perfect
a/c barely kept up - it was warm. No fridge in the room, we required a fridge for medication.
Prachtig gebouw met heerlijk terras

A location perfect for FAIRY TAIL! really really loved the style of the building, lovely view! We wish to came back ASAP Thanks wood Norton 🫶🏻
L’edificio, le camere pulite e spaziose. L’atmosfera dell’ambiente
English full breakfast da migliorare
The full english breakfast was not so good
Room perfectly adequate with comfortable bed. Dinner and breakfast good. Waiting staff in evening for dinner very slow to take orders, but the waiter on duty for breakfast was exceptionally helpful and even toasted our bread for us!
Location of our room very disappointing as it was not part of the original house and we had to climb many steps to access it. Room perfectly adequate, but very basic with no dressing gowns, slippers. It was a very hot night and the duvet seemed to be a winter one - fan provided but only moved hot air around. Very small window in room which made it quite dark. Parking up a steep slope and not suitable for elderly visitors.
Good breakfast and good service. Bedroom nice and spacey with decent size bed. Would recommend to a friend and come again.
Car park was a bit of a walk.
Colazione continentale e inglese ottima.

The location was lovely
Room wasn’t very clean lights didn’t work no shower gel or shampoo in the dispenser in bathroom tv didn’t switch off via remote. The breakfast was just warm and the rest of the food was left out with flys all over it
Beautifully scenic, lovely room also.

Lovely characterful hotel in very picturesque surroundings. Recent addition of access to the wellness spa in the neighbouring property was a bonus
Some of the staff let my overall experience down. It was noticeable the difference between those who were pleasant and those who gave the impression they didn’t really want to be there. I am very conscious staff should be treated well by customers so I am always very pleasant and thankful as a customer but, two in particular at the hotel were possibly unsuited to a customer facing role.
Peaceful surrounding. Pleasant gardens to walk around. Nice outside patio for sitting with drinks and food. Good choice of breakfast beautifully cooked and nice tasting.
Nothing not to like during this visit.
Felt grand without being ostentatious. Beautiful grounds with lovely outside eating area and quite space to sit in rose garden. The grounds aren’t big but didn’t need to be. Perfect for visiting the Cotswolds and was in lovely area. Staff were very friendly and helpful and even gave us free drinks for my husbands birthday and our Anniversary. The building was lovely. The room was spacious and room and bathroom were clean and fabulous big bed. Snooker room lovely extra.
The lighting in the main parts of the hotel was so dark!
Whoever produced the website for this hotel did a very good job. It is presented as a very smart country house hotel and to be fair, the interior decor of the main building and location do not disappoint. Sadly though, there were plenty of other things that did. Nowhere does the website state that the main part of the business here is a retirement village which becomes very apparent on arrival. Only one person on reception - who could not even raise a smile to me when I stood for over five minutes unacknowledged while she was on the phone. There is also a distinct lack of signposting directing you both around the main building and to the car parking. The car park situation is frankly a disgrace. Area by hotel very limited - supposedly for drops offs and disabled but clearly being abused and was not monitored by staff to ensure correct usage. The main car park is UP a hill - and a fair distance from the hotel when carrying heavy bags. Only way back DOWN is to walk on the road or risk injury on the steep stepped stony path at the side of it. We also saw a car rolling backwards after being parked as it is on such a slope and there is very little space for reverse turning. Totally unsatisfactory situation all round. We stayed in an’ accessible room ‘in the Pear Tree Mews Annexe. About eighty yards from the main building, UP another slope and not drivable. How anyone with mobility needs is supposed to get there in the first place is a mystery. Heaven help them if it is raining. When you do, there is no number on the door which you enter from the courtyard and finding the right one involved guesswork. Our room was definitely not ‘ immaculate’ as the website states all the rooms are - tired and functional might be a more apt description It even - as another review also stated, still retained a few old round pin plugs. Breakfast in the main hotel ( when we found the room it was in ) was reasonable but for a hotel which is promoting itself as exceptional - one would expect coffee to be brought to your table and not be faced with a self service coffee machine. There were not nearly enough staff to ensure good customer experience - and the use of the coffee machines is testament to the owners way of finding ways to do without them. We overheard other guests who had stayed in the main building expressing serious concerns about their stay too and were far from happy. In short, this property has the potential to be - everything the website portrays it as - it is a beautiful building in lovely grounds with stunning views. What it needs is for somebody to take that seriously and ensure that it really does deliver what it claims to.
Beautiful setting and lovely rooms
It’s absolutely stunning. The place, the views, the room…everything was beautiful
No AC in the room
Breakfast was good Location beautiful
We tried for 90 minutes to phone hotel from car on our way down no reply !!! Had disabled parking booked could not use as all full with non disabled people’s cars when we informed reception were told yes we know but nothing was done about it and one visitor parked sideways across two disabled bays unbelievable!!!
Extremely disappointing in terms of the quality of service, lack of adequate signage, horrendous parking on offer, path from car park which doesn’t comply with any health & safety regulations, and very tired rooms which are poorly ventilated. The previous night we stayed in a Holiday Inn Express which was significantly better all round than the Wood Norton. Not recommended!
Great Building and gardens.
we prefer the main house to staying in the annex.
Beautiful situation, friendly staff, parking, gardens and view from terrace. Breakfast excellent with ample choices of hot or cold.
Room in annexe was spacious with a comfortable bed. It was cool with a small window looking out ti a low wall and shrubs ( during heatwave). This was most welcome but perhaps the same room could feel cold and dark in the winter months. Bathroom spacious but on close inspection the tiles could do with a deep clean.
Staff helpful Beautiful building
No usb near bed Bathrooms a bit tired Breakfast needed to have more staff and another coffee machine
The terrace, the decor and the building itself. Parking and EV chargers were convenient.
Air conditioning did not work. Didnt feel the room was worth the money, quite basic. The common areas were nice hough.
Heel jammer.
Beautiful hotel
A great first stay here at the Wood Norton. It was recommended to us by friends. Set in beautiful grounds our one night stay was perfect. One of the highlights for me was a most delicious Vegan breakfast. Starting with a fantastic selection of teas, yoghurt, cereals, nuts, seeds and dairy free options. The vegan breakfast was basically a full English (Yes!) with no faff. Well cooked and presented, the tomatoes, field mushrooms and spinach were exceptionally flavoursome and obviously prepared with care. Beans, vegetable sausage and hash brown accompanied by fresh bread completed this excellent start to our busy day ahead. Thank you Andria and team!
Everything!🥰
A gorgeous boutique/small hotel , great food.

Ubicación y edificio
Beautiful place and impressive main building. Breakfast was outstanding. 5* for that.
The rooms we stayed in was new but felt quite cheap. It was a very hot day and there was no water in the room, no fridge, and we struggled to find a set of plugs that worked to charge our phones. There are no plugs next to the bed. No shower cap in the bathroom and very basic soaps in dispensers. Bit like a holiday inn.
I really liked the quality of the furniture and decor in the room, and the size of the room. The size of the bed was good as well.
There was some confusion about the booking I had made when we got to the hotel and we were told to go and sit and wait for quite a while whilst they sorted it out. The radiator in my room was faulty and I could not switch it off. It was a very hot day and it was extremely hot in my room. Why this was not reported to the staff I don't know.
Only booked 90 minutes before arriving and no problem checking in , nice greeting . It’s a lovely building in a nice quiet location with a lovely bar and restaurant. We had a nice large room with lovely big bathroom and air conditioning, good for a hot stay as it was. Pleased with the refreshment tray and water provided which were very poor in our previous 2 hotels on the same trip.
This is an absolutely beautiful hotel set in exquisite grounds The staff were friendly and helpful, the meals were excellent
Nothing
The history and location of the hotel; the staff and the check in and out
the cooling of the property in a heat wave was patchy
Beautiful place and staff lovely

Loved the building ,location & grounds and in particular the outdoor seating area for the bar & restaurant . Electric chargers in car park excellent
Nothing
We got a suite and a deluxe double room in the main hall. Was definitely blown away by the care and attention given to refurbing the estate - there’s a functional lift, and the rooms had air conditioning.
Loved the property, and our rooms - but the restaurant staff really ruined what was supposed to be a special weekend trip to see the Cotswolds lavender. Happened at breakfast right before we checked out. Travelling with my husband and my parents, who are older and not from the UK. My mum can’t see very well, and struggles with signs - she accidentally put a croissant in the toaster (absolutely our mistake) despite there being a sign there. Again, because she can’t read signs very well. She alerted the staff and stood there while (and I don’t have his name, regrettably) a guy with glasses tried to resolve the issue. He later came to our table and loudly, in the middle of a busy restaurant, plonked a plate with my mom’s burnt croissant and proclaimed that this is why there’s a sign next to the coaster. How absolutely embarrassing, and such a rude and unnecessary thing to do. It was a genuine mistake, and when my mom tried to apologise and say she assumed croissants were fine in the toaster (as they usually are) he basically said, just as loudly, “not in any hotels I’ve worked at.” Not going to comment on the length and breadth of his work experience, but absolutely shocking that he felt entitled to chastising a guest in this manner for what was a genuine mistake by an older person (who can’t see very well) Luxury hotels aren’t just about the infrastructure, they’re about the hospitality - and a huge zero from me to this property on that front. It was absolutely my mom’s mistake that she missed reading the sign, but that employee should have a little more grace in how they behave with guests. That extra chastising on the table was absolutely unheard of, and it put a dampener on our whole weekend.
Beautiful hotel with stunning grounds. Staff were very friendly . My sons bought this for my birthday and it was amazing. Afternoon tea was lovely. Bedroom spacious and clean, fantastic shower. Dinner was great with good portion size and breakfast was plentiful. Will be back. Thank u
A good b fast Nice historic location
Woken up at 410 am by deliveries who parked a truck and made a lot of noise right outside our window for half an hour. Then another turned up at 7am. Ruined a night's sleep.. really not acceptable for a "luxury" hotel. Don't accept room 302 or in that location. Internet wouldn't work with firewalls flagging it as a security risk. It was a hot night but the windows in Ground floor location. are a security risk allowing ientry if open and had to be closed.
The room was fantastic. The aircon. Albeit noisy was much need and effective. The reception staff (Beth) were lovely, friendly and helpful. The hotel is first class. A bit out of the village but easily accessible.
Nothing
Lovely break away Fantastic , well maintained hotel Clean. Excellent , attentive, polite, friendly staff Amazing food - both dinner and a beautiful breakfast Not one negative comment
The location
It was dirty and unkept. Just because it is old does not mean filthy is acceptable.
Beautiful building although our room was in a courtyard which if raining would present issues. The dining experience was good
This was a beautiful hotel in the perfect location for us. The staff were excellent and so friendly!
There was nothing to dislike.
Food very good especially breakfast
Delays to meal in evening and extremely noisy aircon unit - room 108
Room food
Comfy room, nice bedding & towels. Good air conditioning. Staff friendly but the hotel felt understaffed.
Bathroom a bit dated. Room very small. Very limited vegetarian selection in restaurant. Buffet breakfast selection poor. Coffee poor & machine painfully slow. Had to pay extra for spa so did not use. Drinks overpriced
Room was quirky and grand. Staff were great. Especially Mitchel at the bar who was super helpful and made good recommendations on drinks. Fast E charger was useful for the car, Ubers surprisingly easy to get as main road runs quite close to the hotel. View from the patio was wonderful.
What a beautiful estate! We loved the building and the amazing views. Great to walk around the garden and look out over the valley. Rooms were clean with big bathrooms. Would definitely stay again.
The only thing that threw me off a bit was that the pictures of the rooms online when we booked were nothing like the rooms we were given. Our rooms were more like standard hotel rooms in a building behind the main building, but the pics of the rooms shown when I booked were much more unique and luxurious looking. We got our rooms for a great price and didn't spend much time in them anyway, so it wasn't a big deal, but I do think they should adjust the photos to match what you're getting.
Was not advised there spa facilities were only accessible during business hours which not useful as that is when you are out visiting the local area. Also not clear how separate this was from main building. There was minor damages in the bathroom. There was no connecting walkway between mews and hotel so felt trapped in mews during heavy rain
Our second stay in a decade. The food was excellent and special mention to the young waiter (brother served in the bar), who was very professional. We dined two nights and were impressed on both occasions. The signature dishes on the menu were superb. Bring back the white linen tablecloths for the evening though; the quality of the food by the Culinary Director Glynn Parnell deserves this touch! On our first visit, we were lucky enough to stay in a master suite on the first floor; which was quite something. On the second occasion, we were situated on the second floor which was very basic; but quite adequate. The gardens are like something from a NationalTrust house and have matured wonderfully, with superb Rose Gardens and aerial hedging.
Lovely hotel have stayed before
Not enough staff on duty having to wait 20 minutes plus to be served at the bar Stayed in a beauriful room but very tired Shower in above room had leaked all on to the oak ceiling water marks Needs decorating All wood needs varnishing
We stayed only one night, but the hotel is just soo beautiful, incl. the grounds. The room was lovely too, very comfortable! The food in the restaurant? Delicious!
This hotel is outstanding in every aspect. It was a last minute booking for us but we were so pleased that e stayed. The hotel is an historical mansion and the decor represents this. The room has very comfortable and the views amazing. Dinner in the restaurant was fantastic and worthy of its Michelin rating. If you are traveling through the Cotswolds make sure this hotel is on your list.
It’s a lovely hotel… nice features, quiet even though above a main road. Booked a suite which was excellent.
As we were above reception and the bar found it a little noisy.
Beautiful lounges and terrace
Customer service at both reception and restaurant wasn’t great. Lacked welcome, friendliness and poor information given
Everything, staff grounds food
Everything was good no complaints
Nothing
Breakfast was well-cooked and a nice selection of continental options. The room was a good size with a comfortable bed. The grounds were well-maintained and it was very nice to explore them. Staff were kind (if rushed by the volume of guests). We enjoyed a drink from the bar and sitting outside.
We stayed on a warm weekend and the room (in Pear Tree Mews) heated up uncomfortably. The nearest plug sockets meant that the fan was placed some distance from the bed, so even with the window open the heat remained very uncomfortable. Other rooms in the hotel have air conditioning but not ours. Hot nights like this are only getting more common and the hotel needs to invest in better solutions. Other little issues with the stay - red staining (I very much hope not blood) on the net curtain. The television did not work. The cord on the kettle was so short, combined with the placement of plug sockets, meant that it could only be boiled on the floor. These are issues for a hotel of this price and a 4-star rating.
