Beautiful hacienda in a great location, off the grid but close the attractions that you want to visit in the area. The rooms are quite big with high ceilings, and nicely decorated.
The hacienda lags maintenance. The service isn’t good that impacts overall experience. The included breakfast was a coffee and fruits, everything else was charged extra.
.
Brides Beware – Beautiful Venue, Terrible Management I was so excited to get married at Hacienda Labor de Rivera because the location is absolutely beautiful—but that’s about where the positives end. The experience working with their “wedding planner” and assistant was truly awful and made what should have been the best weekend of my life incredibly stressful. The original planner quit after the owner reportedly refused to pay staff due to low sales, and things went downhill fast from there. They overpromised and underdelivered, failing to provide half of what was included in our agreement. Even after I paid to extend the entire Hacienda for my guests, they continued to nickel-and-dime us for every small thing and are now refusing to return our deposit over petty expenses. I was so disappointed and heartbroken. I even had to hire an external planner just to keep things on track—and they made her job miserable too. Brides, please do your research before booking. The setting is stunning, but the service, organization, and professionalism were beyond unacceptable.
The place is beautiful 😍, the staff is super friendly made us feel at home.
We didn't had power on the first night but the staff was very accommodating and friendly we didn't even feel bothered by it.
Second time back with our kids. Great experience, extremely relaxing. Will be back soon!
If I could rate this 6 stars I would! Amazing, peaceful and serene. Beautiful restaurant, hotel and chapel. Activities include horseback riding, kayaking on the lake and d enjoying the Mexican country (homestyle) cuisine. Great place to stay while visitng GDL or Tequila. You are close by but you in relaxing, rural atmosphere.
Property are very beautiful
Gracias!
Our whole Experience was magnificent! I hope One day to return. Alejandra was such a delight. She took care of our us and made us feel at home. The owners were very delightful as well.
Súper tranquilo , muy comodo
What a beautiful, fantastic place! The estate is stunningly gorgeous and the staff are friendly, professional and efficient. My wife and I have stayed at many "highly rated" hotels and this is by far the best! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
WOW! This is, by far, the best place my wife and I have ever stayed. Beautiful estate and grounds! The staff were all very friendly and professional. The room was large, and clean. Bed was very comfortable! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Thank you!
Amazing hospitality very authentic historic hacienda. Enjoyed the historic tour felt like we were honored guests
Secret and nice place to visit near from guadalajara, preaty landscapes and the best service. A lot of interesting places in a 400 years old hacienda. Very recomended. The brakefast is delisious and they have a tequila “Círculo” so nice and clear
The Property is stunning and the rooms are gorgeous, beautifully decorated & very spacious. The food is good but the menu is limited, great assortment of drinks. My only complaint is the activities, the pool table requires work, the cues are not great & no chalk. They have a beautiful little lake for kayaking but only 1 broken paddle. They have horses and 2 cute little ducks (Adam & Eve) on the property that are very friendly so it would be worth having a coffee or a glass of wine by the lake just to spend time with the begging ducks. If they change a few of these small details I would give a 5 Star Rating
Excellent experience, peaceful, quiet, family friendly!. Service was excellent. Needed more dinning options.
Gorgeous hacienda. The food was sooo good. Everything out of the kitchen was delicious. Stayed 2 night. So peaceful and relaxing. Great massage. They don’t have full spa but do have massages. Can’t wait to go back. Perfect location to visit Guachimontones pyramids.
We were treated to speciality of the house tequila tasting as we sat down to dinner. Dinner began wonderfully and we had the best time. The atmosphere is old school Mexico. The surrounding are gorgeous. If in the Tequila valley area it's a must stop! We were treated special.
Service was excellent highly recommend to have a relax time with family
Amazing ❤️❤️❤️❤️
It's a beautiful real "Hacienda." The gardens are so nice. You can also ride a horse, go paddling in the litle lake, look at the stars while eating marshmallows next to the fire; get a great massage or go to town for a dleicious ice cream. The bedrooms are cozy but with a lot of space, and very clean. And you can really appreciate the pass of time over the place, since 1910's. Very kind staff. And they are petfriendly, I took my furry girl with me. No problem at all, and she loves it. Only, I wish it had a pool.
✅
It was very peaceful.
Perfect get away!
Great, out of the way property with expansive grounds. The feel of the old with new amenities, like staying at a real hacienda from the 17th century.
This property is beautiful, to be relaxed or in a romantic moment, and the staff service is very special and kind, We just love it
This is truly a hidden gem and a great place to unwind. The days move slowly here and the nights are quiet and serene. The rooms are lovely, the staff is great, and the meals are comforting. The building itself is 3-400 years old and an amazing site. We were the the “Mayor” suite and our bed was comfortable. We were there mid week and it was very quiet we almost had the place to ourselves. I will definetly come back soon! Thank you to the staff who made our visit great!
Excelente servicio
LA PASE DE MARAVILLA CON MI ESPOSA YA QUE LA HACIENDA ESTA MUY BIEN UBIVADA CERCA DE LAS VIAS VERDE PARA PODER RODAR EN BICICLETA QUE TANTO NOS GUSTA, LO UNICO MALA QUE DEL MENU PARA LAS DIFERENTES COMIDAS NO HABIA TODO.
In emergency would have air conditioner!
beautiful place, loved the horses
The location is beautiful, the decorations, the gardens, the small lake or pond. Also, all the employees are very courteous and friendly, especially a lady named Rocio, that works cleaning the rooms. The only thing that could be improved is the service in the restaurant, sometimes they leave clients unattended or take too much time to satisfy a small request.
Delightful 16th century hacienda w/ very nice and attentive staff. Very interesting ruins close by.
It was an excellent experience and we had the good fortune to have a tour by Eduardo, who is also the chef, which gave us insight on the history of the hacienda. Food was excellent and we were able to eat on the terrace overlooking the central garden. All of the staff were attentive, rooms clean and a very comfortable bed. We would certainly visit again
We went to this place for new year and stayed a couple of days. We had rain one day and it was sunny next day after breakfast. I enjoyed it so much. Peace, only the sounds of birds, trees swaying gentle with the light wind. Well covered, in the porch, great place for contemplating nature with great comforts. The place has spectacular rooms, all with an ambience of more than a century ago. It invites you to read, to listen to your music, having either a warm cup of tea or coffee or a tequila. Food has that special local touch with great flavor and without the fanciness that spoil the local ambience. The Hacienda has a lake with a big garden, has horses, and you can organize from there short travels and excursions to the Guachimontones pyramids, or to other great places around. I definitely recommend it if you want to go to a place where it is cozy and you want to rest, read, chat with your loved ones. It is pet friendly and many cultural and historic places to visit for a day excursion.
Very historical...400 year’s history with several employees being 5’th and 6’th generation on the working hacienda. Horse stables, beautiful horses. Food was great. It is a set back in time..go to relax, enjoy the setting and savor the setting. Beds were very comfortable Internet orkedvgreat, as did my cell phone in spite of the seclusion and mountains
The property was under staffed. The horse stables and garden area were in very poor conditions. The toilet in our suit did not work. Food was ok not as described on the menu. The property overall needs a lot of work. I would not stay here again.
Excelente lugar, si quieres pasar unos días relajado
Gorgeous place! So relaxing, peaceful. Defenitly going back!
Great experience but could improve directions to go into the hacienda in signage and road conditions. I would be back
My husband and I took a trip to Los Guachimontones, the round pyramids in Jalisco, about 90 minutes from our home in Ajijic and decided we wanted to stay a couple of nights to better explore the area. We read the great reviews about Hacienda Labor de Ribera and we were definitely not disappointed! The grounds and surrounding area is breathtakingly beautiful! Nature at it's best and the hotel itself, a 460 year old Hacienda, was truly spectacular! They have horse stables right on the grounds not far from our room and we went horseback riding for 2 hours on the day we arrived! Our delightful guide, David, knew plenty of English and we thoroughly enjoyed him AND the horses! I don't think we've ever had a better nights sleep than our first night there - we actually slept 11 hours straight! I now appreciate all the benefits of being well away from the main road! The food was great and reasonably priced. I had a wonderful 90 minute spa treatment in my room for $750 pesos! I think her name was Cuca... We met another well traveled couple there who were equally impressed with this gem of a hotel and felt so lucky to have found it - also online - however, we both ended up reserving directly thru the hotel because they gave a discount bringing the price down from the already reasonable price offered online. We couldn't be more impressed with the manager, Ziul Lopez and his wife Yelia Colin who heads up marketing and wedding planning at the hotel. My husband's career was corporate event planning, specializing in sales incentive trips at luxury resorts around the world and since we were so totally impressed with this property, I'm certain everyone will love their experience here too! FYI, our cost for 2 nights in a deluxe room, 2 hours of horseback riding, 90 spa treatment and 4 meals was around $350 US.
The location is beautiful, the food is very good and the staff is really nice. We stayed at the hacienda because a couple of friends got married there and we had a blast! It is important to take into consideration that the hotel is quite isolated and moving around can be difficult because there is no uber and cabs are scarce. The ideal option is to rent a car. Also, pack mosquito repellent!
I liked the setting and environment. I wish they could have air conditioning or fans in the room. Also a laundry room for guest will be ideal. Chapel was closed when I tried to visit. Overall I liked my stay.
The worst experience that I have in a hotel in my 25 years traveling around the world. My plan was to spend 200 USD a night to have tranquility and peace for a weekend but what I got was the worst nightmare. Right next to my room a group of 15-20 teenagers screaming and shouting all night. Call the Lobby 3 times (midnight, 130 and 230 am) but NOTHING happened. The day after I went to claim my money back but the manager told me that he couldn't do that BLAMING expedia and not taking responsibility. When I follow up with Expedia this case, he tried to "negotiate" a discount instead of the FULL REFUND that he accepted (in person) that I deserved. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS PLACE and I hope you reader either.
Oh my God. I whished I could have stayed longer. This place is beautiful. It’s kept at pristine state. Staff is great, very accommodating , made us feel right at home. It’s not for the trill seekers, it’s for those who enjoy nature, and the beautiful architecture and history of the place.
The staff at Hacienda Labor de Rivera were amazing. We had dinner and breakfast at their restaurant and the food was delicious. The WiFi was a bit slow, but that allowed us to accomplish our goal of disconnecting On our vacation. 6 of my family members went horseback riding and loved the experience. They felt that their guide was very patient. We woke up early to see the sunrise and it was truly breathtaking. We will definitely be coming back and staying for a longer period of time.
This is really old Hacienda from the 1600s, its really beautiful and well maintained. Each room has its unique personality, the room that my wife and I stayed was called "La Troje" with views to the garden and lake, unfortunately on the other side is the restaurant and can be noisy. Rooms have no television as common in these type of hotels, their will be a spa in the near future. I gave it a 4 stars as we had only one towel once we arrived and once they brought us clean ones, one had a stain that I reported to management that only replace it. The staff over all is super friendly and willing to share the history behind the hacienda and the historic areas near such as the Huachimontones. Food in the restaurant was good and well explained. There is a small lake within their premises thats enhances the view of the gardens outside with a couple of kayaks that be aware that you will get wet. In general, I loved the place, how friendly everyone is and overall how clean everything is, I hope management continues to focus on those details to make it a great experience.
We went to Labor de Ribera for only one night. We were heading to Ruta de Tequila and wanted to have a place to stay out of the "hustle and bustle" of the touristic area. What a great decision was to select "Hacienda Labor de Rivera". It is located on the other side of the Tequila Volcano, away from the town of Tequila and Amatitán, which is where most destilleries are. Very close to the archaelogical park of Guachimontones ( which worth a visit) and the town of Teuchitlán. We rented a car and drove from Guadalajara, around one hour to Labor de Rivera. Dropped our bags and went to both Guachimontones and Ruta de Tequila, after a flash visit to the hotel grounds. It is exceptional. A 450 years old hacienda, very well maintained and restored into a hotel. Rooms are very attractive. We selected the most basic room, which was good enough for our short stay. I recommend selecting for a moderate increase one of the biggest suites. After we came back from Ruta de Tequila we were very well received by a waiter (we don't recall his name) who was exceptional at making ourselves feel at home. We had a beautiful and delicious dinner with ambiance music and charm. Next day morning , we went to the desk and ask for historical information on the Hacienda, the employee at the desk had no clue (?????) . It was the waiter, again, who gave us a fantastic tour of the surrounding, including the horse stable, the chapel, gardens and some of the suites, and gave us excellent information about the state. We had a great time at Hacienda Labor de Rivera. However, the manager or whoever was at the desk, both a woman and a man, didn't respond with the grace, maturity and devotion to his work like the waiter did. They were actually apathic. However, we highly recommend staying at Labor de Rivera in your next visit to Ruta del Tequila or Jalisco in general, and please stay for an extra day.
We have been so impressed with the staff. We stayed here to attend a wedding in Tala - a town 20 minutes away. The hacienda arranged for the taxi back at 2am, then had a staff memeber here to greet us and take us to our rooms. We are not fluent in Spanish and the staff went above and beyond to communicate with us. The horse ride gave us a chance to really enjoy the countryside and take in the beauty of the mountains and the volcano. A wonderful, unique experience.
We had visited the Hacienda before, but only to tour it during a "soft opening" a couple of years before. Our overnight stay this spring was much too short! This is a beautiful historic property with lovely furnishings & decor -- & the service is thoughtful & friendly. The horse barns & many in-resident horses (& new foals during our visit) add to the wonderful experience of staying here & wandering about.
we booked one night to meet friends for a birdwatching day in the near Sierra del Aguila. The Hacienda is beautifu. The Room was clean and spacious with very comfortable beds. The restaurant offered delicious food. The one thing we did not like were the FLIES! They were everywhere, including the restaurant. We assumed the horses on the property were the cause for the flies...., but hated having them join us for dinner. Service was outstanding. At check-in, we asked if we could have breakfast early in the morning before we went birding at 7am. The staff remembered our request and had delicious coffe and fruit and yogurt ready for us at 6:45 am. Considering that the regular breakfast time started at 9:00 am, we were pleased and appreciative to say the least!
