On a main square which is great and convenient. It was fairly noisy though all through the night.

A nice hotel and quite convienne - easy to access and welcoming staff

Despite the massive roadworks in the area we were able to stop near the hotel to check in and the underground car park they suggested was really close. The hotel is in a pedestrian area but very close to a road you can drive down. Not sure it will still possible to drop off once all the roadworks are done. Otherwise old building given a modern makeover, quite fun. Nothing special but fine overall.

Beautiful room with a balcony, perfect location, excellent sound-proofing of the windiws so you can be in the hopping part of town but not hear when you don't want to, great breakfast.

Les moins : - l’escalier très étroit et escarpé pour accéder à cette chambre, c’est acrobatique, surtout avec une valise. - l’accueil très impersonnel, beaucoup de passage et de personnel car c’est aussi un bar et une brasserie. Pourtant l’hôtel n’est pas grand (29 chambres)

Very poor soundproofing between rooms. No bottlet water in the room.

Vraiment un bel endroit parfaitement située sur la grande plage Jaude de Clermont. Les restaurants, supermarchés tout près. Possibilité de faire son jogging matinal jusqu’au grand parc surplombant la ville, 5km environ. Restaurant sous l’hôtel, très populaire.

Très grande chambre refaite de 24m2 donnant sur la place de Jaude avec une excellente insonorisation. Grande douche pour une super expérience client le matin. Possibilité donnée de profiter du petit déjeuner avant l'heure normale de 7h00. Présence d'une machine Nespresso dans la chambre. Restaurant avec terrasse très animée sur la place. Tout était top !!

We were driving from Bretagne to Northern Italy and we needed a midway rest; Clermont-Ferrand was an option, the hotel is a good solution, nice position on a main square, parking very close and a very good bistro in the front. Nice people.

Wir waren spät unterwegs. Man konnte nicht vor das Hotel fahren (was nirgends erwähnt wurde) und das nächstgelegene Parking war voll. Nach längerem rumkurven (Einbahnstrassen und viele Baustellen) schlussendlich im Parkverbot geparkt. An der Reception eine eher schnippische Dame. Wir haben dann beim Hotel spät was gegessen, der Burger war mittelmässig, die Pommes weit entfernt von knusprig (die Bedienung meinte, diese seien halt hausgemacht - das Wort hat in unserem Wortschatz eine neue Bedeutung erhalten) und vom Salat sprechen wir nicht. Die Bedienung war freundlich und effizient. Frühstück gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis und wider Erwarten eine sehr nette Dame an der Reception. Hotelzimmer selber war gut.

Great place if it were not for the elevator system.

This hotel is NOT reachable by car--the closest parking, which you only find out at the front desk while your car is illegally parked a 5-minute walk away, is across the street and in an underground garage about 200 yards away. Not terrible if you are youthful and travel light, but not convenient if you are older and have baggage. (Also, my GPS told me to turn left and drive up the sidewalk lined with pedestrians and cafes. Not advisable.) Also, those sidewalk cafes below your window that line the street below are attractive in the afternoon, but noisy and smoky all night long. The air conditioning did not work and opening the window for ventilation was out due to the noise and crowds below. The room was nice and shower was great. Prepare to pay for breakfast. All in all, I would not recommend.

Chambre très confortable, literie très confortable. Très propre, très agréable. Bien insonorisé. Très bien placé sur la place Jaude (attention parking public payant, la nuit =6€environ). Personnel très agréable, surtout au restaurant de l'hôtel. Vue sur un mur mais pas si grave quand même car rattrapé par le confort de la chambre.

The hotel was nice, however a fridge in the room would have been nice 😊 Also the directions given for the parking were terrible, the addres/name given to enter into GPS only took you to the exit of the parking garage.

The room was nice and I loved the balcony and having the restaurant downstairs but Expedia said that this property has parking and that is the only thing I really needed. There is no parking and no way to pull up with baggage. I had to park 5 minute walk away and drag my luggage because the parking garage close by and all the parking spots were full. There is an elevator but only in-between floors not on the floors themselves so you always have to walk up stairs with your luggage. The cleanliness wasn't super but good enough. There was still hair from the previous occupant on the floor and the tile had some sort of growth in the shower. But I guess for France it is ok.

Very central property, on one of the main squares in town. The hotel also have a cafe, but our room was on the 4th floor and very quiet. Room was comfortable, refurbished recently, clean and spacious. Staff were very courteous. Plenty of choices for food around.

町の中心のジョード広場に面していて、駅へ行くＢラインのバスやルピュイドドームへのナヴェットの乗場はすぐそばにあり、近くにはミシュランの星付きレストランがいくつもあるなど、ロケーションはとても良い。 ただ、ホテル自体はやや複雑な構造になっており、あまり使いやすいとは言えない。 まず、エレベーターは地上階と１階の間、１階と２階の間に停まる形になっているため、フロントからエレベーターに乗るまでに階段を12段昇らなければならない。 さらに、我々が泊まったミニスイートの部屋は別棟のようになっており、本館に接続する螺旋階段を昇り降りする必要がある。 我々は今回パリから２泊３日の小旅行でスーツケースをパリに置いてきたから良かったが、スーツケースを持っての旅行だったら部屋に辿り着くのに大変な思いをしたはずである。 したがって、利用する際は（特にミニスイートの場合）その点を踏まえておく必要があると思う。

Very nice property, the service is Ok. The room size was good, comfortable bed, the best is the window and view of square. The bathroom is clean and modern. Overall, then property is simple, nice and pleasant, almost like a loft style. The restaurant is right downstair, facing the beautiful square. We had a short and pleasant stay. Will stay again if ever visiting this city again.

The air conditioning was not working in room so it was 27 degrees, gave us fan made little difference . Check in wad with a waiter so no information about stay . Booked 3 nights left after one night

We had a wonderful stay. Had two unique rooms. Clean and comfortable and at a great price. Rooms were quiet. Great location, walking distance to shops and cafe. Town train is in front of hotel/cafe but operates quietly and conveniently. Would stay there again.

Positive points: The hotel is in a good location and has a great restaurant, with good lunch and dinner options. The bed is comfortable and with good sheets. Negative points: There are no elevators directly to the floors, you will always have to go up some stairs. I had two heavy suitcases and no help was offered; The room was extremely cold, there was only a small air conditioner that could not heat the room. The toilet was in a separate area and extremely cold (really uncomfortable to use); about the breakfast included, they had few options, repeated every day. Would rate it 2 out of 5.

Good, except that this hotel is located in a major pedestrian area and is only accessible on foot. The closest parking is a public parking named Vercingetorix

We loved the friendly atmosphere in this hotel. The rooms are stylish and comfortable. Without a doubt we will return to this hotel next time we are in Clermont-Ferrand.

Very good, in the centre of town. I wasn't there long enough to say much more. I arrived late Sunday night and left early Monday morning.

Excellent position and very stylish with quirky decor, particularly lights. Perhaps a bit style over function, the usual problem in hotels, no drawers for small items, socks, pants etc. I left a purse behind and they posted it on to me, very helpful.

The hotel in in a beautiful square but sadly the square is not used to any advantage. A tram runs in fort of the hotel and there is not direct access to the hotel except on foot. The public car park is easily missed on a one way system. No mention of where to park was given. On the plus side we found a lovely bistro down one of the side roads which features in the Michelin guide. The staff were helpful and returned left property .

Perfect location, lovely room and really good room temperature! Shower room was quite cool and worked very well. Volvic water bottle was sweet welcoming gift.

The location is great; more in the center is not possible! The room was clean but a bit tiny; since it’s a city hotel we were fine with this. The only thing that annoyed me a bit was the shower: it’s so tiny, that how ever you stand in the shower, the water splashes everywhere... I‘m in the remodeling business and I couldn’t come up with another solution; maybe a sliding or fling door would help? Beside this it was really a nice stay!

we staying here for one night as a stop off on our travels down to Provence. We didn't expect much for the price but were very pleasantly surprised with how nice it was. The room was perfectly equipped, clean, tidy and nice. The location was fantastic right on the main square and in the heart of the action. Other reviews have said that the rooms can therefore be noisy, but we were on the first floor directly about the restaurant and outside seating area. We didn't notice any problems at all and we both slept really well! Restaurant food, service and drinks are excellent. All in all, fantastic little find and we would 100% stay here again if we were in the area

We loved this hotel and were just sorry that we could only stay one night, so did not have chance to try the restaurant, which also looked very inviting. Great view of main square from our room but we weren't at all bothered by noise. Staff were very helpful when we left something behind and posted it to us promptly.

It was an AMAZING stay, with a great view, great room. It has everything needed. The staff was super friendly. They spoke English as well. And the location was SUPER! the only little thing that it was a bit cold, and there was no heater.

Stayed here 3 nights for a rugby trip. Hotel reception was a desk in a corridor. Very poor sound insulation from outside and within the hotel. Very noisy from outside at night until 1 a.m. Then at 2 a.m. cleaner decides to take the chairs from the tables and drop them on to the tiled floor without any regard for the guests. The noise just echoed up the stairwell to our room on the first floor. I had to get out of bed and go down to tell him to be quiet. The breakfast offering was poor, lukewarm scrambled egg, bacon and sausages.Not worth 12Euro. The breakfast room was woefully inadequate in terms of size. The tables were arranged in front of the breakfast bar so that there was only room for one person to access the bar at a time. There was only two tables where you could sit comfortably without someone knocking into your chair to get past. A distinctly impersonal vibe from the bar staff. I do not ecommend this "hotel".

We only stayed one night, but enjoyed our stay very much. If we ever find ourselves in Clermont-Ferrand again, we'll definitely be back!

Centrally located, very clean with modern touches, and adjoins a respectable restaurant. The room is on the small side, but location, cleanliness, and helpful staff more than compensate.

We had a room with windows onto the square below, and the cathedral in front of us. Lovely modern, clean, comfortable room and a great restaurant bar with lots of outside seating so you can watch the world go by.... Perfectly located in the old part of the city I highly recommend this hotel if you're in Clermont Ferrand for a few days

Great pit stop between Bordeaux and Burgundy - very good value hotel in the main Square close to all amenities

The staff enabled me to check in a little early upon my arrival from the airport. It was easy to get to my business location, local restaurants and local sights such as historical churches and parks. Tram stop, bus stop and taxi stand were adjacent to hotel. The room was well equipped, clean and quiet. Breakfast (extra charge) was very good.

Nice rooms, but there are quite a few stairs to reach the lift, then there are some stairs again to reach the room... And staff wouldn't help! Overpriced.

Hotel is very central and close to everything. Staff were helpful. Room 22 was noisy from the restaurant till early hours. Shower tray was very slippy and dangerous. Meal in the restaurant at night was poor

Le Lion was a most comfortable recently refurbished hotel situated in the heart of the old city. The rooms were well appointed with wood floors and modern lighting. The bath room shower boasted an enormous shower head to provide an invigorating start to the day. The people of Clermont we met were very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to welcome us as supporters of Exeter Chiefs rugby club. An excellent long weekend. I will be coming back

The rooms are great, the staff are nice, and the surrounding area is terrific, but in France, people tend to smoke. Even though this hotel is supposed to be non-smoking, guests smoked, and we needed to move rooms. The showers are beautiful, but you need to run them for 10 minutes (!) until the water gets warm.

This hotel has a major issue with noise. They have a café on the ground floor which opens into the street. I stayed there on a Sunday night. Just before midnight, I was woken by scraping of tables and chairs in the street as the café workers were packing up for the night. This continued until well after midnight. Compounding the noise problem, the stairwell is an open design. When people returned to their rooms, the noise echoed up the stairwell into my room. I rated the staff as terrible only because I assume the employees packing up worked for the hotel. Reception staff were nice.

Situated on the beautiful central plaza - close to many good restaurants, this hotel has recently been renovated in contemporary French style. Our room had a balcony with table/chairs overlooking Place de Jaude. Nice breakfast available at extra charge (worth it); staff are very nice. Outside seating for afternoon people watching. City is lovely. Speaking French helps.

The hotel was easy to find, the parking somewhat difficult to access. As a result we parked further away than we would have liked. The fast and efficient tram service was right outside on Place Jaude but noise was not an issue in our room despite its being at the front of the hotel. Our room had clearly been updated to a very high standard and we loved the shower! We would have liked to have been able to control the aircon from the room but this was not possible therefore the room was a little hot for our taste.
