Ellerby Country Inn

First class, all that you needed and more, service 12/10 very pleasant and friendly staff more than helpful, very clean inside and out. We first stayed at this Inn 25years ago and it hasn't changed.

My only problem was there were no grab rails on the bath or in the shower.

Evening meal was excellent and so was breakfast Room was very clean and comfortable Bathroom was massive

Staff were the best thing but our room was great, dinner very nice, all at high standards and the family -run atmosphere is very lovely. Everything well cared for and tidy. Made very welcome.

Only one very small issue, the bathroom, it did take a while for shower mist to clear and things felt damp. But no joke intended it didn't put a dampner on the whole experience

The hotel is set in a lovely quiet location with easy access to other areas. Great accommodation which is spotlessly clean, and has a small conservatory overlooking a lovely garden area at the back. There are bus stops right outside going into Whitby, and as far as Middlesborough in the opposite direction. The breakfast is superb with plenty of choice and all the other food served at the Ellerby is top notch. All the staff were lovely, chatty and very helpful. We hope to stay again in the not too distant future.

A hidden gem all the rooms back on to a beautiful garden with an orchard and even a grapevine. You have a seating area too. The food was homemade and excellent and a good breakfast too.

Excellent location in a small village but within easy reach of Lythe, Sandsend and Whitby. Our room was very spacious and clean. There was a mini fridge with complimentary water and milk. Hairdryer and toiletries also provided Food amazing so I'd advise booking an evening meal in advance at busy times of the year. Staff were all incredible and couldn't do enough for you. Great fun but super efficient. Highly recommend

Such a pretty country house hotel in a great location for visiting all the local seaside villages. We walked along the road to Runswick Bay and on to Staithes via the Cleveland Way before coming back for an excellent meal in the hotel restaurant. The staff were all very chatty and smiley. The room was a good size with a large bathroom. We had a great view of the sea plus there was plenty of tea, coffee, milk and water. Breakfast was tasty and the restaurant served delicious food so we ate there both nights. I'd like to return in the winter as it looks like it would be lovely and cosy.

The pillows were a bit lumpy for me but that's just personal preference. I'm sure they would have had alternatives if I'd asked.

Very comfortable, clean and well equipped room. Tea, coffee and fresh milk! But the best aspect of our stay was the staff, all of whom were helpful, friendly and excellent hosts. Food was good standard of fairly standard pub food. Not special but decent. Restaurant therefore very busy in the evenings so recommend booking a table in advance (open to non residents and popular with locals)

The bedroom was clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly and attentive and the meals were delicious.

I didn't like the pillows, there were some decor that could be attended to in the bedroom, we were in Room 5 and the shower was difficult to use.

Beautiful place, great location. Staff were absolutely fabulous from checking in. Downstairs bar/restaurant was lovely. Very picturesque area. Couldn't do enough for us. Rooms were clean, not overly modern, but lovely. Breakfast next morning was excellent, great variety. There were 3 of us and the table was laid ready for us but my husband didn't join us and they were insistent we took him a breakfast sandwich back to room. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Great location, close to most seaside locations.

Everything was fab . It’s in a beautiful location v near wonderful coastal walks - the room was large with a deep bath and a powerful shower . The staff were all friendly and beyond helpful - the food was excellent. The beer garden so pretty . 100% recommend we will be definitely coming back . They were great with the dog too !!

Have been there numerous times for the restaurant which we know to be superb so decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary there. We were not disappointed food excellent as usual and staff were terrific. If you haven’t been get yourself there you won’t be disappointed

Not being familiar with LG TV's, basic instruction for use would have been helpful. Difficult to find channels such as the BBC for example. Even staff found it too difficult!! Room adjacent to kitchen extractor fan - intermittent humming noise and cooking smells - tolerable.

A stone built country hotel with a beautiful garden in the rear much more than a ‘beer garden’- very thoughtfully planned for tables in shade and sun surrounded by lovely shrubs snd flower beds. The bedroom was light & airy with a good sized bathroom all spotlessly clean .

This hotel is a real hidden gem. From first arriving the staff were all amazing. It is cosy, welcoming, beautifully set up and the food is amazing.

Very pretty, traditional building with a gorgeous courtyard and garden, perfect location for us, quiet and close to the coast ( we could see the sea from our balcony). Staff were fabulous from start to finish, excellent service, great food and the room was perfect - spacious, clean, comfortable, large tv, separate shower and a fridge with fresh milk and complimentary water.

We stayed at this hotel for a few days in June. Its location in a small village was exactly what we wanted: the peace and quiet with views overlooking fields to the sea. On arrival, the hotel was very quiet, and we were greeted by a staff member to check in. We were allocated room ten, which overlooked the beer garden at the back of the hotel. The room had a shared balcony with the adjacent room, offering views over the field to the sea. Once again, the peace and quiet, with only the sounds of birds, was a welcome distraction for us after the long drive. The room we were allocated, room ten, was very spacious and well-presented. It was very clean, with all the amenities you could need. Featuring a modern, well-appointed large bathroom with a shower and a bath, we were delighted with the room and looked forward to our break away. We booked into the restaurant for our evening meal that evening. The menu was very varied, with a good selection of meat and fish dishes. We were pleasantly surprised to discover that the food was homemade, which made us enjoy our chosen dishes even more. The two dishes that stood out most for us were the trio of fish, which the wife enjoyed immensely, and for me, the homemade steamed treacle pudding, which I found to be exceptional, as you could tell the quality and care put into both dishes. The breakfast menu was as varied as the evening menu, with the obligatory selection of juices, cereals, and toast, along with some fruit options. All the staff we encountered were friendly and made us feel very welcome throughout our two-night stay. We would definitely recommend this hotel, and we are already planning to return later in the year.

From the moment we arrived to checking out we were looked after by fantastic staff. The location is perfect for visiting plenty of the other places nearby by car or by bus which we used as the bus stop is just outside . The room was lovely and clean and spacious enough for the two of us and had a fantastic powerful shower. The outside garden is perfect for sitting and relaxing with a drink after a day visiting other places. The food is amazing, breakfast has everything you could fancy and the evening meals were just as good . There is a great choice of beverages from the bar too. Overall a brilliant 4 night stay, we'll be back.

This was the second time that we have stayed at The Ellerby and it was just as good as the first time. Their standards are consistently excellent: the staff are lovely, as is the food. Our room had a little outside terrace where we could have a cuppa in the morning. It also had a fridge with fresh milk and bottled water. These little extra touches make all the difference and we wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

We loved everything, especially how lovely and attentive all the staff are and felt very welcome and looked after, we also thought the room was very comfortable, very good facilities and felt very relaxed. The meals we had were excellent and can't fault anything. Definitely be going back! 🙂

There was nothing not to like. The setting was beautiful the inn was welcoming, such friendly staff. The room and gardens were beautiful. We stayed in room 6, and accessible room. My travelling companion was in a wheelchair and this was perfect for her need. Restaurant was lovely and spacious, you wasn't all crammed together and the food was amazing

Ellerby country inn is a beaitiful place to stay. So relaxing and peaceful with the most amazing staff with the biggest welcome you feel totally at ease the minute you walk in. Nothing is too much trouble and the accomodations are comfotable and spotlessly clean. But for us the best part of Ellerby is the outstanding quality of the food we have never eaten as much food as we did when we stayed the best food at a great price should charge double for the quality they provide. There is not enough words to describe how amazing Ellerby country inn is you just have to experience it for yourslelf.

Beautiful location immaculately clean accommodation. Lots of little touches from the dog blanket bowl and treats to the cloth for make up removal. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly or welcoming.

Some more breakfast options would be nice, especially gluten free, but it was very well accommodating already!

First time staying here and as soon as we walked through the door it felt like home! Such a lovely place, quiet little village, perfect for us x room was lovely and we even had a small private garden. Staff were fabulous, so helpful and polite. Food was lovely and all home cooked. We are already planning on returning. Location is perfect for coastal walkers. Its a hidden jem.

Lovely, deep, hot bath after a long day of walking the Cleveland Way! Really comfortable room with huge comfy bed. The staff are super nice, friendly and helpful. Nearly every other guest was a return visitor - one couple had been coming for more than 30 years! This is because it’s so friendly.

The staff were super helpful, but in general the lounge and dining room were rather cool., although I asked if it was warm and I was told there was a radiator beneath our seat, but it didn't seem to be turned on as the room was cold The breakfast room was even colder. The bedroom was excellent although again on the cool side and another electric heater was supplied which made it cosy and warm. Only one towel rail in the bathroom was turned on but the staff turned it on and was much more pleasant. The bathroom was newly decorated as was the bedroom, and was very comfortable.

Great location for visiting local attractions such as Whitby, Staithes, Saltburn and Runswick Bay. Good wholesome food and very pleasant staff. Good frequent local bus service with stops just outside the property. We stayed 3 nights Sunday to Tuesday and restaurant was busy every night.

That we had only booked one night

Great place for family to spend a night or two. Very close to Whitby and located in nice little village, with beautiful views towards the countryside. The breakfast was lovely and the staff we interacted with were all very friendly and welcoming. The family was big and spacious with everything we needed to spend a wonderful time.

We loved everything about Ellerby, the food and location are fabulous, the room has everything we needed and was clean.

It was great that in the family room.there was a cot and a single bed, but we were a little wary of our young child sleeping downstairs. I realise this can't be changed and it won't stop us coming back again but this was the only 'criticism'
