Leuke sfeer, aardige mensen en goed eten.
Staff were very attentive. We had a lovely view overlooking the courtyard.
Really comfortable bedroom . Quality finishes made us feel special .
Nothing disappointing at all.
Very pleasant and helpful restaurant manager
Comfortable rooms
Staff we totally unaccommodating to any requests throughout our stay. Our party on 9 will not be returning !
Lovely, welcoming, sweet village. Fabulous food!
Tricky stairs to some rooms
Room was great, everything was in fact, Food was very good . Breakfast particuarly.
Everything was good!
Good room, excellent breakfast. We ate dinner in the restaurant and the waitress was especially good
Wonderful breakfast
The room was quite small
Bellissimo Boutique hotel in uno splendido paesino del Dartmoor. Colazione ottima, ristorante di qualità. Molto gentile il personale.
Bisogna portare l'automobile nel parcheggio pubblico subito fuori dsl villaggio, a 5 min a piedi dalla struttura.
The food was absolutely delicious!!
Wonderful building with excellent hospitality. The breakfast and other dining options are excellent. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Chagford is beautiful.
Super room in cracking pub/hotel
Not much.
Lovely room Outside space was great Meals excellent Lovely village
Liked everything
Beautiful location, excellent staff, the place is well maintained and looked after, the room was lovely and very peaceful, the food is fantastic for dinner and breakfast. Had a very warm friendly stay and brilliant for dogs too. Would highly recommend
Food service is a bit slow after they take your order but they are advertising for b.o.h staff but it is worth the wait. The food is hot and fresh it looks at tastes amazing
food very good, room good but small. Water hot and quickly came though quickly unlike last stay.
the bill was too complicated and broken down unecessarly.
Everything! Stunning, very clean, very comfortable! Great customer service and very yummy food. Best stay I’ve had in a long time!
Nothing!!
Stilvolles Ambiente, sehr schön und gemütlich. Tolle Lage, freundliches Personal.
Lovely staff and cosy
Excellent location and old historic building. Breakfast was lovely and room very comfortable.
Nothing
Nice location in centre of chagford.
Great location
Nothing
Tout était parfait. Personnel très agréable, chambre confortable, très bon petit-déjeuner et village très calme.
Beautiful historic building in centre of lovely village with lots of independent stores (loved the hardware store), and eateries. Comfy twin room in annex at rear of building, parking available on site. Tasty breakfast and friendly staff. Great location to walk from.
Had wet room rather than bathroom, so everything got wet, and limited places to put dry things.
Nice location and nice building.
Staff not great - disinterested. and breakfast poor. Limited variety, not refilled.
Prachtig dorpje aan de rand van Dartmoor. Prima hotel in het centrum. Goed ontbijt.
(relatief) klein bed.
Fantastic, period hotel in beautiful rural location.
the breakfasts were very good and the food generally was good - they need to look after their kitchen team.
The location is difficult to reach down single track roads and parking is not straightforward although I had no problems finding convenient and free parking.
lovely big bathroom, friendly staff.Fantastic evening meal, good coffee and well kept beer
Sadly our room overlooked the conservatory/restaurant so the curtains were closed for privacy making the room very dark as the room light was not very bright. Also the room decor was very dated and looked a little tired, unlike the bathroom which had a very modern clean look
Lovely inn with lots of character charm. Great mix of historical & modern. Delicious vegetarian food. Wonderful staff. Really comfortable & quiet.
Well located with comfortable rooms
Front of house staff were discourteous and unhelpful
The food was delicious.
Initially we were allocated room 102 it was right next to the courtyard so we would hear the noise of everybody outside all night. If we open the windows it would be worse, on entering the room. It became very clear. It’s smelt musky. Catch 22
Breakfast was great, the lady serving us was friendly and chatty. Food was excellent. Room cosy, clean and comfortable bed. We had a light dinner that was freshly prepared and delicious as well as good value for money.
All great
La situación
No està preparat per un estiu calorós
Everything was good, but not the uncomfortable chairs in the dining room
The Staff were amazing, above and beyond for us.
The only downside was because of the heat the fan was not quite enough, and the pub says dog friendly, ok but people aren’t smart enough to realize there dog isn’t friendly. Don’t bring it. Or is it just me who doesn’t like a dog that barks at everyone, or anything??
Beautiful building, lovely relaxed atmosphere
Niets
Excellent breakfast. Delicious food.
Hard to escape the heat in this current heatwave, no air-con but a fan was provided.
Lots of character and stylish. Excellent food.
Constant noise from ducting. A couple of female staff were friendly and hospitable but a couple of the males fell short unfortunately.
Lovely old building but clean and modern inside. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent evening meal at a reasonable price. Sensible number of choices on the menu which is often a good sign. We had to leave too early for breakfast so the pub made us a decent packed lunch, thank you. Room was clean and comfortable with a nice new en-suite.
Nothing; it was all good. Tiny nitpick perhaps - some of the chairs in the bar need new seats; they were a bit saggy so we were a bit low at our table.
The meals, the room, the location. There was not a bad thing to say
We loved everything about it!!
Sehr schönes, altes, top top renoviertes Hotel, schöne Einrichtung, gute Betten, sehr gutes Frühstück
Staff were very friendly, starting with a pre-arrival courtesy call to ask if we wanted to book dinner, through check-in and breakfast service, and on to check-out. Breakfast was very nice, and freshly cooked to order.
The room was cosy and the bed comfortable but there was a lot of noise from a door regularly slamming below in the kitchen. It did at least stop after service meaning it did not disturb while we were sleeping.
Good location. Nice old building.
Booked a Superior King room for wife’s birthday, but given a very basic room with worn out furniture and decor. Window was broken and would not close properly, so allowed cigarette smoke into room from courtyard where people were smoking. Staff unable to resolve these issues. The whole property is very tired and in need of refurbishment. We were in room 3 and paid £185 plus £15 for our dog (June 2026). For £200 this was very poor value. The Property calls itself “5 star inn” but clearly it is not. Maybe they mean 5 out of 10? Rooms that are basic but nothing luxurious. Will not go back. Food was adequate but not the quality implied by website. They cannot make proper cocktails. Told us the owners (St Austel Brewery) insist on using premix. Another disappointment!
Good food and service in restaurant
We’d reserved and paid for a room with either a twin or King Bed (we requested a king bed as husband is 6’5”) Did not get a King room, but a standard double, which reception staff wouldn’t acknowledge.
Our breakfast was delicious, sausages sublime. Our daughter’s accessible room was wonderful and the bathroom huge! Our stay was really lovely and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Would highly recommended.
There could of been some herbal tea in our room as my husband doesn’t drink normal tea.
Lovely staff
Asked for ground floor room, but there were still steep steps to the accommadation.
Above my expectations. Great find! Ideal location for exploring Dartmoor.
Notre séjour était parfait ! La chambre très grande et magnifique, le restaurant super, le personnel particulièrement chaleureux et aux petits soins. L'hôtel est également très bien placé pour rayonner dans le Dartmoor National Parc.

This is a fantastic hotel, it ticks all the boxes for visitors to the area. Wonderful staff, excellent food and a beautiful village atmosphere, it is the quintessential English village complete with historic Church. We loved our time here and could not recommend it highly enough.
The only disappointment was the smell of dogs in our room. We loved dogs and we were aware it is a dog friendly hotel but I don’t want the lingering smell in our bedroom it was quite noticeable.
Friendly and fascinating
Courteous efficient staff. Food excellent.
Unfortunately, no lift.
This is a lovely old pub with character and many spaces in which to drink and eat. Staff were attentive, the included breakfast was excellent and the restaurant offered good choice and delicious food, with a good selection of beers and wines etc. Our room was very comfortable; I loved the bath with shower, and the coffee bags and biscuits were most welcome. Chagford is a gem of a place with several pubs, eateries, cafes, deli, and there are many walks around the area within Dart moor National Park you are never very far from nature. We would definatley stay again.
Parking at the pub is very limited, only available with particular rooms. There is a public car park nearby (£5 a day), but it was frustrating as the pay machines were out of order, and the pay by phone app took some grappling with. I would not recommend coming here in a large vehicle, as the lanes are very narrow in places.
Great location, staff, and dining including breakfast
Clean, comfortable rooms and very pleasant staff Food was well cooked, flavoursome, hot and enjoyable.
I appreciate that this is an ancient hotel, but it was really hot in the room, even with all the windows open. This was exacerbated by a heavy duty winter duvet!! Had to resort to seperating the duvet from its cover and sleeping under the cover alone!

Great location
Comfy room. Great food. Fantastic service. Catered well for coeliac diet.
Friendly atmosphere. Lovely thatched property, very quaint.
Eten was prima
Personeel was niet erg vriendelijk
Everything and the food was great
Character with excellent staff led by the manager
There wasn’t anything
Charming, very, relaxed ambiance.
Nothing to dislike, everything was perfect.
Beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms combined with laid back attitude - for example they didn’t insist on us removing g hiking boots, even though we offered. Very professional staff.
Food prices are on the higher side (though the food is very good) - higher than in London for a lot of dishes.
Gorgeous spot with lovely staff. Breakfast was outstanding.

Perfect and lots of choices.
Loved the location and was very clean
Was really in the front bedroom as had to have window open as was hot so could hear everything outside people leaving pub
We'd like to have had much more friendly staff. With a couple of exceptions there was a distinct lack of smiles on their faces!
Great service, food, location and value for money
Location was absolutely beautiful couldn’t of picked a better place to go stunning
Everything about the property was perfect if you’re looking to get away for a few days set in a beautiful location would highly recommend the three crowns the service was excellent food excellent George the manager sorted everything for us everything was perfect
Food was delicious
Very hot showers that I wasn't told about. They should have given a reduction in the cost of the room. Showers are important. Grumpy staff at reception (not experienced
Great atmosphere. Clean and comfortable. Breakfasts excellent
Clean, friendly,great location.
Friendly helpful staff and spacious clean room. Excellent bar with nice atmosphere and choice of local gins. Restaurant had lots of historic character.
We were given a disabled bathroom which had not been advised at the time off booking. Poor service at dinner - our starter never arrived and we were presented too early with our main courses.
Our stay was wonderful on the first night but really poor on the second one, due to a large party had arrived. We were completely forgotten on the second night. With a table booked for dinner at 6.45pm , we got our main course just before 8pm and our starter arrived just after that. Breakfast was the same with great service then really poor the next morning
Some of the staff were not nice when we complained, and said it was our fault!!!!! We weren't the only table affected by long waits and some of the order not arriving.
We recently stayed at the Three Crowns in Chagford and had an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. The hotel strikes the perfect balance between cosy traditional charm and high-quality comfort. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm, relaxed, and welcoming. The food was exceptional throughout our stay — beautifully presented, full of flavour, and clearly made with great care and quality ingredients. The drinks selection was equally impressive, whether enjoying a quiet evening drink or dining in the restaurant. There’s a real attention to detail that makes the whole experience feel special without being pretentious. What really stood out was the ambience of the place. The combination of the historic building, stylish interiors, friendly staff, and the stunning Dartmoor surroundings created a genuinely memorable stay. It’s the kind of place where you immediately feel able to unwind. It’s easy to see why so many people speak so highly of the Three Crowns. We left already talking about returning and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway with fantastic food, drink, and atmosphere.

Historical building in a vibrant old Stannery town

Extremely friendly and helpful staff
Excellent service and a tasty breakfast. Great location to explore Devon
The staff was extraordinary, making us feel welcome as soon as we walked through the door, and during our whole two night stay. The room and bed were VERY COMFORTABLE, the Full English and the Eggs Benedict were delicious, and our two dinners kept us in their pub all evening. The Three Crowns is the anchor for Chagford and should serve as your base for the Dartmoor area!
Driving on Dartmoor lanes is a nerve wracking experience for an American driver!
Great breakfast, and a nice spot for dinner too. Had a delicious meal at both. Lovely bar area too. Very toddler friendly, with great food options for him.
Walking access to a quaint village
Creaky floors in places!
Great Location & Lovely Inn . Great Breakfast We would definitely stay here again.
Parking was a little difficult as it was very busy but not a problem overall
Recently refurbished. We received an upgrade which we were grateful for. Facilities very good.
Pub grub a bit disappointing. Redeemed by a very good breakfast.
Another superb stay at the wonderful Three Crowns!
The staff were lovely and friendly.
We had booked for dinner at 19:30 and the service was very slow. We did not eat until after 21:00. The staff were working hard, but there did not seem to be sufficient numbers of them. The timings for breakfast were a bit confusing for residents and were not mentioned by staff. I have previously only had lovely experiences, and I hope this was just a blip.
Good location. Food was good.
Check in made us feel like an inconvenience. Was asked if we could not come down to early for breakfast. Was advised hotel prefer if you make it 9am onwards
Location
Price of food. Long wait for breakfast
Great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, very friendly staff, good was exceptional thank you 🤩
