A little piece of heaven! If you’re looking to relax and unwind this is the place. A little off the beaten track it’s a great place to walk and enjoy the wild, rugged features of the coastline. Watch the kite surfers do their tricks and the let the world drift by. The rooms have been upgraded and are now well equipped with comfortable beds and amazing showers. Rustic style decor is the theme for the entire resort. Sunday nights are the best, come down and eat, drink and enjoy the vibe from one of the top reggae bands on the island. Well done Matt &Will you have done a stellar job - see you again soon
Located near Rescue Beach cool place with friendly staff good communication WhatsApp number on Surfers Bay web site. All rooms face south cleverly staggering and balconies make it open but privacy protected 😊 Essential self catering except evenings, so provisioning and transportation recommended Would I book again….yes Peace and Quiet by day but be prepared to enjoy excellent live performances especially Sunday evenings, Saturday and Wednesday All the staff engaged from house keeping, garden, bar, to Will the on-site Manager family run business 🇬🇧 Google maps easy to search for walkable local businesses Go to enjoy a special place with without any hustle and bustle, I read, swam, relaxed and chilled out on my timetable 🙏
Just got back from Surfer’s Bay with my family (10, 12, 23) and already missing it. If you’re looking for a more secluded, laid-back spot in Barbados, this place is it. Super easy to get around, and the peaceful vibe was exactly what we were hoping for. Will and his dad Matt were great hosts. They were kind, engaging, helpful, and always available if you needed anything. Solid people. Reggae Night on Sunday was hands down the best live reggae I can remember hearing. The restaurant was solid comparatively (great cocktails too), but just a heads-up: it doesn’t open until 4pm, so grab some groceries at Massy’s or another shop to have breakfast/lunch covered. Totally manageable if you plan ahead! Since I read the other more negative reviews before writing this, here's my experience: 1. The A/C worked just fine. Just make sure to keep the doors closed and it cools down. 2. We only saw ants when we left food on the counter (our bad). As long as you’re tidy, no issues. 3. We had plenty of hot water for 5 people back-to-back after a day in the ocean. No problem. All in all, we had an awesome time. Already dreaming about going back!
Exactly as advertised. Close to surf lessons (walking distance!). Rent a car and stage your Barbados vacation here if you want to wake up to quiet surf and wnd your day with a dip in their private pool. Would stay here again.
What a wonderful gem of a place this is ! Almost don’t want to advertise this place because it’s so very special . Hidden away but close to the airport overlooking crystal blue seas with turtles bobbing around …. Lovely quiet pool area but fun reggae music nights at the weekend . Wonderful bar staff who do the best rum sours on the island and amazing home cooked fayre from 4pm . Will and Matt are the loveliest of hosts always there for advice and the odd coconut that gets taken down from the palms . Rooms are simplistic but very tasteful and the balconies are wonderful viewing platforms day & night . Surfers bay is a very happy laid back place to stay . I can’t wait to go back !
We had a great time. This is a hidden Jem and not your typical "big" resort.
We loved our stay at Surfer’s Bay! My husband and I booked Room 11 on the upper floor, which had air conditioning, two bedrooms, bathroom, dining/kitchen space and a terrace with L shaped sofas, hammock and picnic table. The suite was really lovely - it was decorated in beachy neutrals and had everything we needed for our week stay. The terrace and poolside views of the gorgeous blue Barbados waters made our vacation. The gastropub serves great pub food. The Bajan chicken curry, fishcakes and burger were faves. Music is loud on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday but it’s really fun! I used silicone earplugs to block out noise if I wanted an early night on those evenings. We hired a Suzuki Jimny from Stoute Avis Rentals at the airport, which was perfect for us as we used Surfer’s Bay as a base from which to explore the entire island. With a location right on a tropical beach, of course you might find the odd insect or tiny ants, so it’s important to put food in the fridge or airtight containers, keep surfaces clean and wash dirty dishes straight after dining. We were careful not to leave delish Bajan banana bread crumbs anywhere! No bugs in sight after realizing we just had to be a little thoughtful. Our departure flight was only at 5pm so Will kindly let us leave our luggage at his office in Room 1 and offered us the use of Room 2 to freshen up and change before leaving for the airport. Our restaurant recommendations included: Surfer’s Cafe in Oistins for brunch - go early for a beach view table - it is a wow! Champers in Bridgetown for a romantic dinner The Fish Pot in Saint Peter (my absolute fave) for a beautiful lunch - the earlier you book the better table you receive. Love their fair seating system! La Cabane for a chill beachside fish and jerk chicken grill. Stunning beach! Enjoy!!
Fantastic spot for donwtime and close to the best surfing at Freights Bay! Stunning sunrise and sunsets! Tranquil and serene! The bar and restaurant are great, offering a variety of food and drinks with reasonable prices! Staff are very helpful!
I had high hopes for my stay at Surfers Bay Resort, but unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. First, the room was infested with ants—I couldn't leave anything out without it being covered in them. Completely unacceptable for a resort that claims to offer quality accommodations. On top of that, the mini-split air conditioner was rusted and barely worked, literally dripping rusty water onto the counter below it. The refrigerator plug was "spliced" and really dangerous. It was clear that maintenance is not a priority here. We also came back to our room and a stray cat was on our bed. Friendly but If your party has anyone allergic to cats, this would be unwelcome. What really pushed me to write this review, though, was the blatant disregard for the resort’s own policies. They explicitly state that children under 10 are not allowed, yet there were multiple young kids running around, making noise, and disrupting the atmosphere. One of the main reasons I booked this place was for a peaceful stay, and that expectation was completely ruined. I cannot recommend Surfers Bay Resort to anyone looking for a clean, well-maintained, and policy-abiding place to stay. Until they address these major issues, I would strongly advise others to book elsewhere. To be as fair as possible, the onsite management tried to assist us and was kind enough to upgrade us to a suite. We were also compensated for a few nights after contacting the owner. But I would have been happier paying full price for a quiet environment. The live music was excellent. But, if you want a quiet night there really isn't any way to get away from the performances.
Surfer's Bay is a hidden gem. My husband and I visited Barbados for a wedding and this privately owned, quaint resort was pefect. The room was what I expected and the location was absolute amazing. The views, the relaxing vibes and the easy to go service was all that we needed. We will be back but would definitely recommend to family and friends!
Attention to detail and gracious service are clearly core tenets of this establishment. Gorgeous property full of simple elegance, not fancy yet both laid back and immaculately maintained. Host Will went above and beyond and was always close at hand to answer any questions and provide service. In the evenings the Gastropub opened with bartender Rico doing an amazing job making us feel welcome. Took at dip in the ocean every morning although beach was too rough for a full swim. Food was stellar, ate dinner here most nights overlooking the sea with a cool breeze and crashing waves adding to the relaxed ambiance.Saturday and Sunday nights had bands ripping and a great crowd coming in, both tourists and bajan alike with the cover waived as a guest. Off the beaten path location yet Took the ZD to central oistins in about a 15 min trip. Sick spot, hidden gem, Couldn’t ask for more
Really lovely property outside the hustle and bustle. Stunning location tucked away for a peacefull holiday. The team are really helpfull and accomodating, there if you need any help.
Great venue off the beaten track but we'll worth a visit, went on a Sunday night great reggae band on ' right side of red ' place was bouncing great outdoor seating also on benches overlooking the ocean with bon fire blazing into the night sky . Met Matt the owner and was good to hear his journey to where he is now ,been to Barbados many times but never knew about this hidden gem will surely return when next in Barbados
Kimara and her team did a great job. Only wish there were more options for breakfast and a clock in the rooms. But a good time...thanks again
Got home this morning and am so sad its over. I ended up travelling alone which wasn’t the original plan so I was keen to have a home base & I definitely chose the best one. Surfers bay is probably one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. I don’t do big fancy high rise hotel complex’s I much prefer the rustic authentic style surfers bay has and it did not disappoint. The room was perfect and had everything I needed. The pool area was gorgeous as were the surroundings. Location was amazing, quiet yes but that’s what I came for. There is a beautiful walk along the cost to silver sands beach and silver rock beach which i did every day twice a day. The restraunt is lovely and all the food I tried was fabulous especially the tuna. The atmosphere in the evenings when the sun is setting with a bonfire and the ocean as your backdrop was just so special. Staff were wonderful, Matt and Will are lovely and so helpful. They really have created a beautiful space and I can’t thank you guys enough for having me. I will be back & will recommend to anyone else visiting Barbados. Thank you so much! Katie x
Wonderful, intimate facility with magnificent villas. We had a Junior Suite for part of our week, which is very spacious and a great porch. Then had a Master Suite rest of the time. The Master Suite is extraordinary, especially the ultra-spacious veranda. If you have the budget, book it. The hotel is a short walk to several beaches. The closest, Rescue Beach is located right off the property to the west. Or take the 10 - 15 minute walk east to Silver Rock & Silver Sands beaches. Silver Rock is more laid back and a sparse crowd. Silver Sands has more amenities like beach chairs but more crowded. The hotel restaurant was quite good, but only open late afternoon to evening. There is a restaurant called Driftwood in the South Point Hotel just a 5 minute walk up from Rescue Beach, they serve a great breakfast & lunch (definitely try their fishcakes). We didn't find out until last few days, would have saved us a few taxi rides into town. One of the best highlights are the live music nights on property. Great mixture of locals and tourists from the area. No need to leave the hotel grounds on those nights. Lastly, Will, Matt and the staff are amazing. They are very accommodating with requests and accessible when needed. We highly recommend the hotel. It's not for everybody (if you're the corporate big resort type), but it is for seasoned travelers.
Clean property, amazing host, brilliant views, lively live band in the evenings
Amazing stay overall. Modern room was very nicely furnished including a net over a comfortable bed, room included kitchen utensils, microwave, kettle etc. Very efficient AC. Lovely pool area with plenty of loungers, chairs and benches near the pool and beachfront. Great spot for sunset and enjoyed some live music and drinks one evening.
Surfers Bay was the best casual laid back place to stay. Great ocean front facility on the south end of the island where things are not touristy at all. Matt and his son will were amazing hosts and the amenities of the property were great. The cab driver, Micheal, who was recommended by the owners of the resort, could not have been any better. Promt friendly and very knowledgeable. He took very good care of us the whole trip
I have left Surfers Bay Resort just two days ago and since the very first day I was feeling like at home, Matt and Will are amazing people and the staff is so friendly, I was very lucky to find them in this peaceful and wonderful place! Anything you need just ask them! To let you understand: I was invited by Will for a private Surf session as well as a dinner in the North West Coast of Barbados! Matt gave me a ride to the supermarket since I did not have a car! I was pleased to enjoy also live music and a drink with Matt 30 minutes driving from the resort! I never met any manager like them in all my travelling experience! The Surfers Bay resort is getting also active on the weekends with live music right in front of a bonfire and the stunning South Coast of Barbados! Lovely accomodation just renovated with a private patio and hammocks. The swimming pool is very well mantained.. Really I don't have anything to say more, only that I will miss a lot my new friends and this stunning place!!!
Nice and quiet Place with a nice small beach that was aways people free . Will and Matt, the managers were very nice and willing tò please us
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The whole place is beautiful, the staff went above and beyond for us and the restaurant and entertainment was a lot of fun. We look forward to going back again soon!
Beautiful spot on the south coast of barbados that my girlfriend and I stayed in. Modern and spacious rooms in a luxurious setting just a stone's throw from the beach. The pool area is always clean and well maintaine. The style is very fresh and relaxing, with the whole facitliy being recently renovated. Will and Matt were exceptional hosts, making sure we had everything we needed. Providing extra help like information on things to do and where to eat. They make time to speak with guests and their hospitality supassed our expectations. If it's your first time to the island and you want some local advice on what to do/places to go, this added extra of having tenatative and informative hosts is perfect. Perfect location as its 10 minutes drive to oistins and 15 minutes drive to st Lawrence gap. If your into surfing then one of the best spots on the island is only 10 minutes walk along the coast. If we every make a return visit to barados we will most definatly be staying here again. Thank you Will for your hospitality!
Great setting, a good bar at reasonable prices. The owner Matt has done a great job so far and is renovating the rooms. We went for a birthday party and it was a great experience. Live music on Sundays and on other evenings but would advise checking their website.
My experience here broke my heart. Having to write this has left me so heavy I took my time before posting. The head of housekeeping at this resort went through my belongings, desecrated my dead father’s cremated remains, verbally abused me, racially abused me. And the owner refuses to hold her accountable. He instead suggested that I, a paying customer, should sit down and talk to the housekeeper who did all the aforementioned. I don’t know any business owner that would ever be so foolish as to think this was an acceptable way to handle such egregiously awful behavior from their employee toward a paying guest. I loved this place. Absolutely adored this place. And had the owner simply held his employee accountable I would have continued to love this place. I would continue to be a patron. As it stands, I WAS an OG client. Long term customer of this establishment. Massively supportive of the new owner and his vision. When he told me that he would do nothing, I decided that day that surfers bay could never see another dime from me. I will never go back to this place. And that isn’t just unfair it’s unfortunate. If anything at all happens here to your belongings due to their housekeeper? If anything is damaged or stolen they will do nothing. Not even make her apologize. Being here traumatized me and took me back to the pit of my grief. And all I wanted from my stay was peace. I never got that. It is shameful that the owner chose to call my righteous upset and hurt over how their housekeeper violated my privacy and vandalized my dead father’s remains “drama.” But that is all I got. They will no doubt reply to this and definitely try to make me the bad guy. I was directly texted by the owner and called “evil” for leaving this review in another place. But what is evil? Is the fact that their dirty handed housekeeper even touched my belongings. What is evil is that their dirty handed housekeeper desecrated my dear departed father’s remains. What is evil is dismissing my upset trauma and pain from the enabled abuses as “drama” and refusing any form of resolution. I merely asked for an apology. And I was refused that basic form of resolution. I never ever wanted to have a bad thing to say about this place or these people. Anyone who knows me, knows how much I loved surfers bay. But you cannot treat people this way. When your employee disrespects, curses at, dehumanizes and violates a paying guest? You do not tell the guest to sit down and have a chat with the very person who robbed them of peace, who disrespected them, who dehumanized them, who violated their privacy and desecrated their fathers remains. This was ugly and hateful treatment, and I never deserved it. This man knew I was grieving my father and did absolutely nothing about the desecration of my father’s remains by his head of housekeeping. I would have fired my housekeeper on the spot if my employee did even a fraction of the mess I was subjected to. The owners can reply all they like with lies innuendos and slander. But hear me well. I was violated, traumatized and disrespected here. And if you choose to stay here? Their housekeeper will do the same to you and they will do nothing about it. This broke my heart in a way I didn’t even know possible. And the owner chooses to center his feelings and his needs over the deep pain caused to his guest by his housekeeper. Typical of someone who refuses to check his employee. I have items, damaged, and destroyed due to their housekeeper. Things I cannot replace or repair. But the desecration of my father’s remains will last with me a lifetime. I nearly passed out when I saw that. I will never forget this nor forgive it. This is beyond repair and the owner is the cause of it.
Great communication and location is nice and quiet at night
The only problem I had was, they didn’t provide you water in the refrigerator
Quiet and secluded, beautiful beach totally accessible. One disadvantage though is there are no places to eat out nearby during the day time. So you need to make arrangements for Breakfast and lunch ahead of time, or make sure you have a car. The place is absolutely beautiful. Will and his father were perfect hosts. The restaurant is lively in the evening
Absolute gem in Barbados. Beautiful beach, great restaurant and incredible staff. Rooms are rustic and cozy. Perfect surf haven.
What a great place, the hotel is restored and totally redecoreted, in a beautiful environment! We loved the views! A quiet place at the coast, just a short drive from the airport, near the fishing town Oistins. We stayed in one of the studio's, with a great shower, good bed and a full equipped kitchen. The garden and pool are great! The Surfers Bay bar, in front of the hotel is really fun! We enjoyed the drinks and the food! We loved the musicnights with great bands! Great staff! Thank you Will! You are a fantastic host! We hope to return in the future!
A wonderful location with great views and staff that made you feel special and welcome from start to finish which gave me a wonderful experience. I found the aprtments were very nice with all the amenities that you would possibly need for a self catering holiday with also a bar and restuarant attached to the complex that had a very nice atmospehere for the evening. The location was perfectly placed to be in Ositens with about 10 mins drive and about 15 mins to St Lawerence Gap. My expectations were met and exceeded by the staff and would definitely choose to stay again. Thank you again for a perfect stay. Paul
Very nice property Excellent staff
I had a 3 night layover in Barbados as flight crew and stayed at Surfers Bay resort. It was a fantastic find, such a peaceful and beautiful place to relax for a few days. With great walks either direction along the coast you'll find surfing, kite boarding and quite beaches nearby. The hotel restaurant food was excellent and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel manager, Will, was especially welcoming and obliging. I had a very pleasant stay and would certainly return the next time I'm in Barbados. Thank you Will and all the staff at Surfers Bay Resort.
The hotel has recently had a complete makeover. The renovated spaces are very good, tasteful and comfortable. It's set in a wild and peaceful place. Will and the team did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. Sometimes the music from the bar was a bit too loud for our tastes.
We had the most perfect stay at Surfers Bay. Thank you to Matt, Will and all the staff. We look forward to returning in the near future.
We have just returned from Surfers Bay and we can't recommend it enough! Will and Matt were exceptional hosts, going above and beyond to welcome us. The whole place is stunning with great evening music and chilled vibes. The food and drinks were delish and we will be returning to this beautiful resort. Thanks guys! Hopefully see you again soon!
What an amazing refurbishment, the rooms are lovely, the decor and design beach perfect and Matt and Will are perfect hosts. The views are awesome. Great food in the bar (local chicken curry and Mahi Mahi burger) and a coupe of really cool bands at the weekend. Nice touch with the fire pit in the evening and walking distance to kite beach.
The staff were super friendly & helpful. It was my first trip to Barbados and I spent 80% of my nights here. Recommended to everyone, sunday especially (awesome reggae band) - there is live music Thursday through Sunday, and is open for food from 5 every day. Perfect for me as I stayed close by.
A true hidden gem of Barbados. If you’re looking for a quiet, peaceful, safe and friendly stay then this is your hotel. The rooms are the cleanest I have ever stayed in and the staff treat you as part of the family. We stayed for 3 weeks but ended up staying for 5. The bar is welcoming and friendly and the food is just amazing. We tried everything on the menu and was never disappointment. We will always stay here from now on when visiting the island. Thank you everyone at Surfers Bay!
It was too isolated.
Moonraker… is also known as Surfers Bay is exactly what we were looking for…rustic with every room unique with a fully equipped kitchen, great food for dinners (except Monday night), weekend entertainment, great staff and a pool that is well kept and great for exercise…easy access to taxis and a walk to the bus. We are definitely going back. Lots of vision with their management and new renovations and painting.
Fabulous natural place to stay - view of the sea from our room . Staff very helpful and keen to help. Great food and entertainment! Location is perfect for local beaches.
Toilet seat was damaged. No cutlery, safe did not work, towel rail in bathroom was damaged and in pieces. The apartment looked nothing like the ones advertised by Expedia. The beech was completely covered in seaweed and nothing like the photograph. Drinks were being served at the bar without measurements, so most were short measure. Will not be returning.
Like a retreat 😀😀😀loved every minute great place
The setting is beautiful. Management and staff are friendly and helpful. Accomodations are spartan but clean and comfortable. We loved it.
The MoonRaker was originally chosen because it was close to the airport for an early morning flight. We learned it was so much better than just proximity to the airport. It was a cool community along the beautiful southern coast. We say sea turtles, kite surfers, and walked in the setting of the hotel and surf shack (but it's more than a surf shack. We had New Year's Eve dinner there and the mahi-mahi was terrific). The room was huge. I needed a two bedroom since my mother was travelling with my daugh ter, wife and me. If I could make one little suggestion it would be for a couple of more pillows on each bed. Entire staff was really friendly and nice. I wish I woudl have stayed for a few more days, hanging by the beach, surf bar, and nice evening bonfire.
Great place! Recommend it to all my friends.
We had an excellent stay at Moonraker and will be back. Brilliant location (though so suggest renting a car to explore) and very relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
THE BEACHES WERE BEAUTIUL AND FUN. THE PEOPLE STAYING AT THE PROPERTY AND THE EMPLOYEES WERE GREAT. STEVEN GOT US TAXIES EVERYTIME WE NEEDED ONE, AND ACTED LIKE IT WAS HIS PLEASURE.
Nicely secluded with a nice walk to local town and amenities. Nice staff. Great views all around.
Lovely setting.Spacious apartment even though we only booked a studio. The only fault is the kitchen could be better equipped. Not one sharp knife , no kettle ,no means of lighting gas stove. Not a real issue for us as we only stayed two nights.
Terrible experience. Felt very unsafe. Sketchy characters hanging around approaching me inappropriately in the hotel. Had to leave.
Fantastic staff, with delicious food at the beachfront bar. Both great for families, and walkable for surfing or kitesurfing. Keen to come back!
Loved this quaint hotel and all it he to offer! Lovely staff and the bar/ restaurant was a blast. My room was perfect and I can’t wait to come back! So peaceful and relaxing.
Fantastic place with a great, peaceful location. Owner and staff were awesome and the bar/restaurant was a great place to socialize and see live music on the weekend. Would definitely recommend!
No one to greet you. Did not get what I paid for. Would like to get some reimbursement. This should not be listed as a quarantine hotel. No soap to take a shower. Awful .for my $170 for a night. ripoff.
Rooms are not as per picture advertised, it was only a overnight stay because of Quarantine procedures in Barbados however it was very much below par , A/C never worked , I was bitten to death from Mosquitoes, no TV , shower hardly worked, Bed was very uncomfortable and
Low key area of the island, beautiful view of the ocean right out front. Bar and restaurant were perfect to relax at, and the food was wonderful. Definitely stay there again.
Shower didn’t work, no coffee or food at breakfast, no bottled water.
Everything was perfect! Great views, great food, great staff! Will be returning so soon!
Groovy, chilled, relaxed surfer bar and hotel near Silver Sands beach/ Surfers Bay. Very minimal in amenities, but comfortable, clean, and pleasant. Beautiful view of the ocean but rocky/ no entry. Small clean pool, bonfire outside at night, winding path along beach. Our room had 2 clean beds, 4 towels, bar of soap, toilet paper, kitchenette with pots, dinnerware, stove, and fridge. No microwave. A small a/c and fan cooled room down but urged to turn off when not in room to conserve electricity. Would definitely stay there again. This hotel has more of a communal hostel feel rather than private hotel. Families hanging out in common areas with kids on tire swings, balancing on the slack line, or swimming. Breakfast at the bar overlooking the ocean=amazing.
We enjoyed the privacy of our accommodation away from loads of crowds with a view to die for wake up to a clear view of the surf coming in on the door step ,a car is necessary if you want to see the best of the island ,we ended up walking to a very safe for non swimmer cove on Miami Beach was 30 minutes we needed the exercise. The negative side is the kitchen is very bare of a few basic things no bowls for a cereal Had to ask for a spoon as only one no matches to light cooker no tin opener no bottle opener and ect the list is to long to mention , big plus on campus bar with meals .Steve the owner is great
This is not a fancy high end resort for the type of people who feel like they need everything . It's much better. Bare bones and very laid back. The people here make you feel right at home and take you in as family. I made instant friends here and definitely plan on going back again and again. Fantastic experience!
I’m 58 years old and I travel with my family all over the world. I had never ever had the worst hotel like this. I’m not sure were to start it. This hotel have no manager , no cleaning employees, no service at all. When we went to check in there was as no body to ask for or room, no lobby or office at all, We had to to asked the bartender for information, then the bartender went to the parking lot and found a person sleeping in the car and he took us to the room. That so dirty we could not look at it. We asked him that room so dirty how can we stay at room like this? He said I will give you another room but you have leave that after 2 days later because my friend is coming to stay, Now we got different room worst then first one. It second room our bathroom toilet was broken . The toilet water was all over the floor. We had to use the bar bathroom in the middle of the night , The next day we found that person and we told him that our bathroom is broken and we walk all the way to bar and use bathroom. He came and check it and said I will try to fix it, nothing happened, he didn’t fix it, Nobody came to our room to change the bed or towels or anything, There was no toilet tissue in the bathroom at all. We could not use the hotel towels because it had blood stains on it, after these problems we could not sleep all night because they have lizards running on the wall . I will not recommend this place at all , please don’t waste your money, this place is simply trash.
Poor service. Front desk was not open at check in
Very nice secluded spot on surfers bay, ideal for surfers. The hosts were very delightful and helpful, stayed in the cottage down to the back which was very nice with a small deck to sit and relax. The owners definitely have to replace those blinds as the bedroom blinds are totally see through and everyone outside could see in. There was also no blind or curtain in the front door, In sure some of the guests saw me and my husband naked at some point in time. It's not close to any restaurants, malls, shops, grocery etc but the owners assist by taking the guests out to oistins and the grocery. Overall we made the best of it.
The running water was cold and dripping (as opposed to running with pressure,) and the ac didn’t work, but the staff was very nice and the property was beautiful! If shower and ac don’t matter to you, this is the place to stay!
We booked this place last minute on a whim and it is such a hidden gem! Right on the ocean with gentle waves and sandy beach to swim at. Also a nice deep pool on the property. We got the small cottage and it was adorable and had everything we needed. Clean and comfortable. Arlene and the team made us feel welcome and gave us a fun and memorable last night to our vacation in Aruba. They also have the surf bar on site with affordable and delicious food, we had dinner, drinks and breakfast. Two thumbs up for the playlist too! Awesome island vibes for a getaway.
Nice location close to the sea and turtuels. Very nice hostes.
Since its advertise as hotel we did not know its a self catering apartment. And with this it comes with minimal amenities. So as long as you know its a self catering apartment its fine and you will be better prepared. We wanted to be near the airport so the location was fine. Its located on the beach and its nice and quiet.
Like most other places you don't get what was advertised but the overall stay was good. We really liked the location as it was calm and quiet. Great for couples who want some alone time.
The website pics absolutely captured the property and vibe. Friendly, helpful staff. Laid back. A bit off the beaten tourist path, which for us was a positive. We visited during slow season (July). This would be a great place for surfers during high season. Plan to return.
This property should not be listed. It’s a manmade and makeshift hotel that resembles someone’s backyard. I was not asked for ID or anything. There is no security. After 9pm or so, the owners/workers are no where to be found. It’s at the end of the island where many taxis will not drive to after it gets dark. The room was gross. I didn’t even stay one night after finding bugs and ants in the bed. My husband was actually bitten by bugs after laying down so we called for hours until one taxi said they would pick us up. We ended up paying extra to stay at the Raddison hotel. Well worth every penny we were charged. MoonRaker is the bottom of the barrel.
Our flight from Miami got us into Barbados at 10:30pm. We were fortunate to get a taxi driver who knew where this place was. Left the airport around 11:10pm. Scary drive at night! Got to the hotel at exactly 11:38pm. Lights were out and no one was there. We found a little A-frame chalk board with a note written on it, "Late guests room 7." We were a party of four with two rooms reserved. Room 7 had a double bed in it. Unbelievable! Our taxi driver called the contact number we had for the place. It went to voice mail and the mailbox was full. Unbelievable! If it wasn't for the taxi driver who took us to another place, we would have been stranded. Unbelievable!!
We had booked 2 rooms and arrived at the property at 11:35pm. The confirmation letter said that reception would be open until 12 midnight. When we arrived, reception was close and there was a whiteboard with a sign that said room 7 was open and to go there. First of all we had booked 2 rooms and 2nd of all Room 7 only had a double bed. We want our money back!!
We arrived late afternoon on a Friday afternoon & someone was there to greet us & take us to our room. We were coming off a week sailing in the Grenadines & we had a some foodstuffs with us, & it was great that we had a fridge & a coffeemaker in the room. This turned out to be a very good thing b/c breakfast is not offered at the restaurant (nor was lunch on the day we checked out)-and there's nothing w/in walking distance. We had dinner at the Surfer's Bar restaurant, & the fresh mahi mahi was amazing. One complaint I'd have also is that the hotel advertises free wifi. There was wifi at the restaurant/bar, but it did not extend to the rooms. So we did not have free wifi for most of our stay. Checkout the next morning was the tricky thing. As I mentioned, there's nothing around within walking distance & the hotel is not on or near a main road. The reception office was not open on the day we left (a Saturday, & nor was the restaurant as I mentioned previously), so we were initially at a loss how to get a taxi back to the airport. There were yellow pages in the room with a thousand options for taxis, but we still felt a little uneasy we might not make it to the airport on time. Luckily the people in the room next to us had a card from someone they'd used, & we made it to the airport no problem. Still, it made us feel a little uneasy that no one was around at all from reception. It's a nice, quiet place, but just be prepared with food & taxi options. And wifi at the bar only.
Loved the vibe. Out of the way property. Very casual .You are on your own. Small beach but walking distance to kite surfing beach.Loved to hands off feeling. Not for everyone but we'd go back anytime. Not touristy.
Amazing attention by the Owner. Food excellent in the bar, and away from crowds. Very good place if you like to Surf or just stay away from the people.
We stayed at MoonRaker for almost 3 weeks and loved the location, the staff, the property and all that the surrounding area had to offer. Great for families & couples who don't need/want to pay for luxury and are looking for a less touristy location/accommodation. Food and drink at the bar is a lovely benefit. We'll be back.
The pictures on hotel.com is not actual pictures of the room or hotel.
Very chilled and right on the coast with a number of nice beaches within 10 minutes drive. Staff very friendly and relaxed and bar / restaurant does good food and great happy hour. Definitely go to Oistins fish fry, Miami beach and Ritas chicken. Didnt take pics of tooms but they have all the essentials for self catering but are basic. It's not for a luxury stay and the furnishings are pretty old but if you want a lovely relaxing atmosphere a good location and an apartment style accomodation it fits the bill.
Great staff, the owner Steve was very accommodating to our needs. Very welcoming, hotel was clean, had a nice restaurant & bar. Hotel had great vibes. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others. Great value for money!
Will start by saying that all the employees and the owner are wonderful people. That said, the property was very unkempt. Equipment/amenities varied wildly between rooms (2 cheese graters in one room, a corkscrew in another, no can openers, 3 coffee filters for 7 days' stay...). My friends' room had a broken toilet, shower, and air conditioner and no way to open windows for a cross-breeze. Lawn isn't mowed, there's a burn pile by the path to the bar, and a junk pile behind the one odd, stand-alone rental. The dogs are super sweet, but barked all night long for most of the nights we stayed.
I did not think it lived up to the website No phone or internet No soap Leaky air conditioner
Hotel is rustic....had a couple issues but hotel staff was very accomodating.
The rustic feel of Moonraker made it the perfect Caribbean hideaway. From the moment, you walked in it was as if the descendants of Robinson Cruso himself were there to greet you. The food was excellent and the rum punch . . . Well it had a punch. If you're not too high maintenance and want a taste of Island life without the pretentious elements of a commercial resort I strongly recommend Moonraker.
Great place for surfers to stay with good food, nice bar, very relaxed.
Lots of ants, mosquitos and broken AC. We got bit by both ants and mosquitos. Staff is not available after bar is closed at night which is around 10:30pm. They do not clean the room daily and you need to ask for towels and toilet paper etc.. This is not 3 star hotel. More like no star. Avoid.
Steve was so nice getting us settled. We were only there for one night because we needed to be close to airport for early departure. The vibe of place was very cool. It’s on beach but it’s rough for small kids. Bar/restaurant was cool too.
The reception people were very helpful even going as far as to give us a ride to the grocery store. Very nice quiet location away from the bustle of Oistens etc
I had the best stay in Barbados! Love this hotel, I am already planning a trip back.
Good: The location is quite unique, rather remote and secluded yet only a few minutes by car to popular tourist areas. Free parking; spacious room; good A/C; modern flat screen TV with Netflix access; nice pool area; close access to small beach. Less good: Stove only partially functional (1 burner out of 4); no information about property in room (internet password, how to handle garbage etc); nobody inquired about guest satisfaction during 9-night stay; no cleaning / towel change / toiletries. Adjacent bar / restaurant was very disappointing as happy hour policy was very confusing (only 4 or so items elegible and during special nights with life music nobody knew about the extra happy hour announced on Facebook); multiple drinks were not available throughout entire stay. Overall it’s a nice property but it needs to be clear that this is more an apartment rental than it is a resort as the name suggests.
Parking is in a vacant lot. Grounds were overgrown and a mess. Pool was a science experiment. The place looked like it had not had any maintenance in years. Could not find a manager but didn't look that hard, just got out of the there as fast as we could.
Close to the beach, which is great, and there's a great bar/restaurant, but there wasn't much else. Staff were rarely present, which meant we were waiting an hour before we could check in, and no one was there to check out so we just left with the key in the door. We often woke up to find people say outside the front of our apartment which made us feel very awkward as they could see right in through the front windows. We also had to ask for toilet paper at the bar as there was no one around to help. We had no idea beforehand that the bathroom would be in the bedroom with only a shower curtain for privacy - not ideal. And the curtains in the bedroom didn't cover the whole of the windows and let a lot of light through them anyway, so we were awoken by the sun at 7am everyday. Overall, we didn't feel that comfortable in our apartment so we spent as much of our time elsewhere as possible, which wasn't really the end of the world, but not great when there was torrential rain and we had nowhere to go.
The owner was excellent and very nice , the service was amazing as well
