Everything was great
What can I say! Absolutely fantastic… Service was of the scale, food and drink were spot on and the grounds and amenities were amazing. In my top 3 holidays of all time. One slight criticism, you cannot get away from music anywhere on the resort if you wanted a bit of quiet relaxing.
Absolutely loved this resort and it gave us our best vacation ever!!! Beautiful, safe island…respectful people everywhere. I keep telling people this was such a great trip, it almost feels like we were in an ad for the trip, not on the trip, lol! We are in serious talks to come back same time next year for my 50th bday!
The food at the property was good. There was construction going on directly outside my room which was extremely loud and inconvenient. When I asked to move my room and even offered to pay to an upgraded room I was told nothing was available. They ran out of a ton of the ingredients for mixed drinks, limes, etc. Our room had a damp, wet, musty smell. The faucet in the room was completely busted. The staff was not the friendliest and at times seems annoyed to help. The gym and pools were great.
Property looks nothing like the photos. Staff are not friendly and birds sit on your table while trying to eat. Free roaming chickens, not a fan.
Overall great stay! The rooms need updating on the Barbados side as they are a little dated and worn especially in the bathrooms
I booked my room and stated it was my wife’s birthday, they did nothing to acknowledge it. So why ask what is the special occasion? Second I booked a rum tour, paid for it but they put a 1000 dollar credit hold on my card. When I asked why the hold was still there they said it is policy to hold for 10 to 15 days. This makes no sense and they would not remove the hold.
Property is nice but service is very hit and miss, rooms are tired and bed was extremely uncomfortable. We raised the bed issue as soon as we checked in and was promised a mattress topper that evening. Despite lots of promised and chasing, it eventually arrived on night 3 and didn't make much of a difference. Rooms are also very noisy from neighbours and outside as the bathrooms have vents you can't close - so enjoy the shows while in bed... We expected much more from a Sandals property and would not return.
This is how all “All inclusive”’s should be!! Not only was everything included, premium spirits as well, but there was so much choice. 20 places to eat at meant in the week we were here we didn’t try all of them. Quiet and Lively areas to suit all tastes. Shame the sea was choppy all of our stay but it didn’t really spoil much. And the staff (all staff!) were just so friendly. Big converts to the Sandals concept.
The property was beautiful, and most of the time we were able to access everything.
I didn't like the fact that the room was dated and I couldn't update to a better room. Service was mediocre.
This is my first time staying at a Sandals resort and visiting Barbados and it was disappointing. I do not think I would go back. I felt like it was a waste of money. The positive side is staff were very friendly except for one of the ladies working at the main pool bar. Overall I feel this was over advertised. They say there’s a lot of restaurants but not really. The good ones is only available for dinner. If you want to make reservations you have to go to the desk, which they leave so early. The breakfast is horrible. We ate once and never tried it again. Lunch there’s not many options open. As far as the liquor it felt like it was cut with water. You can drink all day and never feel drunk. Entertainment completely horrible. There’s barely anything to do. Especially at night. The beds are way too firm. I’ve stayed at lower scale resorts and had a wayyyy better experience. It’s also disappointing because this was the first vacation my boyfriend I took together and we honestly both felt like we wished we picked elsewhere. For my first time staying at a sandals I am really disappointed and don’t think I would be likely to book again.
Property beach and food were amazing! Staff was terrible. Very rude and slow, not accommodating!! Would not return to this specific sandals.
We enjoyed our stay at Sandals Barbados Adults Only. The property is beautiful and well-maintained. Plenty of dining options and lots of pools. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The property is convenient to the airport, so transportation was a breeze. Plenty of activities for the choosing. We would definitely return!
It is
Love the property
- Airport pick up and Check in went well. - The food was excellent and restaurant staff was exceptional. - staff around the grounds were very pleasant and always said hello with a smile. - Upon arrival had to wait approx 1 hr for luggage to be brought to the room. - Housekeeping was an issue as 2 days clean towels were not provided by housekeeping and one day our room wasn’t cleaned at all and we had to call for someone to come up (6:30pm). - They weren’t enough towels at the pools or beach. Guests had to walk around the grounds to find towels.
Loved the pools and the restaurants. Wish the swim up bar was staffed, was never open.
Exceptional grounds, gardens vegetation, lots of eating options, beautiful pools, swim up bar and rooftop eternity pools, beaches, patio bathtubs, rooms were nice and comfortable, all inclusive! Very nice overall, however I would like to have seen a more cultural diversity of entertainment, I. e, Barbados “Basian” art and dance. Recommend, Yes!
Access to both resorts with a number of pools to choose from! Great night entertainment and warm staff like Krischan! I was very disappointed in a big resort having no coconut water readily available to guests in a tropical island. Overall experience was enjoyable
The property was great. The wait staff were polite but some staff appeared somewhat bored and some staff were difficult to understand as they were mumbling. The housekeeping did a good job of cleaning the room but were not always consistent ie one day our room did not get cleaned until evening. Getting towels replaced automatically was an issue but housekeeping were willing to deliver towels upon request.
This property is designed for an older crowd. 40 age group. The staff was just okay not terrible but not great. Butler service was pointless. Dinners close too early. For an all inclusive resort the room service is only available if you upgrade your room and even if you do the room service stops at 11 unless you have a butler room. God forbid you call and need water since they forgot to fill the complimentary mini fridge the entire stay. Food is a 10 though even though the Sushi place serve us raw chicken in our spring rolls. Bars try to close up hours before their scheduled time and make you feel as if you are disturbing them to ask for a drink. Couples massages were amazing. 1 out of 5 days the DJ at the main pool was on point. There’s not a lot of shows or activities. Like I said it’s designed for those who wake up at 7am on vacation and eat dinner at 5pm. No clubs or parties or entertainment on property. Pools are jacuzzis are 24 hours but they shut off all the lights and shut down all bars to deter you from going including underwater safety lights. Plenty of food options and walk up snack places. Pizza shop was amazing. Not somewhere we would return to but it’s a stamp in the passport.
This was not a luxury experience. Overall, quite poor value for money. Very nice grounds, pools and beach. The food was very mediocre, no great meals. The hotel infrastructure has no spare capacity--restaurants are full and you must reserve and sun chairs are impossible to find after 8am. The only point of the butler service is to help you reserve chairs early in the morning. Otherwise, I found my interactions with them kind of exhausting. The staff were generally nice and helpful, but it is a slower paced Caribbean vibe so be patient. I imagine they have a lot of turnover and have to train new staff every week.
The resort is beautiful, the food is excellent & varied but the jewel in the crown is without a doubt the staff. Everybody is friendly beyond belief, helpful and just plain fun. Special mention needs to go to: Makayla of the donut shop with whom we had a wonderful chat sitting outside during a lull in business. Ryan, Ken and Tory at the dive shack who made my first dives after many years worry free. Maxwell of maintenance who dropped everything he was doing to help us with our room door that locked us out. Rhea of the Cafe de Paris who was a picture of efficiency, making crêpes, dispensing pastries, coffees & ice cream nonstop, always agreeable, never flustered. Thanks to all!
Loved it.
Hotel is beautiful, staff is friendly (if you don't ask any questions), food is good. Service could be much better for the hotel of that level and price. Bar should have a little more choices.
Several things didn’t go as planned. The staff was rude a couple of times. The beverages were not always stocked. Had to hunt for outdoor towels almost every day.
Our first time at a Sandals resort, and it was fabulous. Plenty of excellent restaurants to choose from for dining, multiple pools with plenty of sunbeds, and a lovely beach area. Jamisha from the wedding team was fantastic and made the whole process of a destination wedding very easy. Highly recommended.
This is a great resort! Read some negative reviews, but we had the best time. Yes, things move slower, but you’re on vacation. Sit back and enjoy this beautiful resort!
Overpriced in comparison with other similar properties.
Perfect experience. Thank you to all the staff!
Staff was amazing. Felt very safe and welcome. If I had a negative, it would be the on site shopping....would of like to of seen more variety of things to buy for children.
Limited by Hotels.com word limit on reviews - I had an essay ready on how bad this place is! I’d just say it’s so bad for the price you pay. Don’t go!! No good service or food or drink. Total waste of money!!!
Beautiful place. Clean and friendly staff.
The staff was friendly and reliable. I really appreciate Simone, Natasha, Patricia, James, Tunishia, and so many others were very helpful in showing us around and just making sure that we were accommodated during our stay.
We loved the swim up rooms! The grounds were beautiful as well!
The staff is the most unique thing about this property. Second to them is the variety of amenities, you are never bored. Although the Spa is an additional cost, I recommend you try at least one service with them. We hope to go back some day.
Sandals was amazing, loved the ambiance, food, amenities and entertainment. Truly a relaxing and carefree hotel.
Stunning resort. Friendly staff. Bartender Sherika and waitress shanicia made it that more memorable and enjoyable by providing excellent customer service. Thank you so much
All around very enjoyable experience, a great place to relax, and pleasant staff. Covid rules a little confusing
Sandals Barbados offers just the amount of quiet needed for a relaxing vacation. The room was clean, but not spectacular in terms of pure extravagance (noisy ceiling fan, issues with daily towel replacement, showing a bit of wear) and fell short of what we experienced at the La Toc Sandals in St. Lucia. We loved the quiet of the European pool. Service was okay for the most part but again lacked the energy and attentiveness of a past Sandals trip. That being said, some individuals merit acknowledgement including the shuttle driver Courtney, the young lady who works the bar at the front entrance nightly, and Shamya, our fabulous waitress at the Greenhouse restaurant. Food from Butch's Chophouse, Kimonos, Bombay, Potofino's and The Greenhouse was excellent. The same cannot be said for Neptune's unfortunately, as it was just average. Overall, a fine relaxing vacation, but a bit short of our expectations for a five star resort.
Services is horrible they take until 2 hours to service the food , the pool service don't exist and they have dirty our room without service 2 times i want to say that for the price that i paid is horrible
The property was beautiful. The food was delicious. We ate in most all the restaurants and had not one complaint. The staff was by far the friendliest of a lot of other place’s we’ve been. I am looking forward to trying other Sandals resorts.
Property was lovely, some good amenities, rooms just ok. Rooms were not cleaned during our stay, beds were made and towels refreshed, mini bar serviced on occasion but that’s it. Sinks, tubs not cleaned during our entire stay. Asked for 3 days for face cloths and hand towels before receiving. With the exception of a few lovely and helpful staff members, service was slow and truculent. We were Club service members and every time we went into the Club Lounge we encountered apathy and attitude, and were made to feel like our asks were putting out the team, for things like dinner reservations, check out clarification, etc (save the last time we went in, for check out - which took forever but the associate was at least helpful - after refusing to check us out initially). Service in restaurants, with a few exceptions, was same. Staff seem disengaged and bothered by guests. In La Parisienne we had a sweet breakfast server who got our order wrong 4 times. We actually were willing to play along and continue to repeat our order because she was one of the few pleasant servers. I also know we are coming out of a pandemic and supply chain issues are abound, but food was mediocre at best, and claims of premium liquor (in mini bars, available throughout the resort for a club members) were just untrue and when we tried to order bottles of wine (at our additional expense) from the wine list, all three options were unavailable. Very disappointed and will not return to Sandals.
Gorgeous property, amazingly friendly staff, and food offering was high quality. The only negative was they didn’t have a customer experience plan for when a bunch of us arrived and our rooms weren’t ready. No worries on the room not ready, just let us go enjoy the property. So the first hour or so wasn’t great, but then the week was tremendous thereafter.
Great time with amazing food.
the service was horrible we had to wait hours on food everyday... the front desk never answered and it was hard to contact anyone via phone from your room...The servers wasn't friendly at all in the restaurants and it was the worst experience I had... This hotel is way overrated an I will not be going back here again...
Beach and ocean are great. Spending a vacation lining up for everything is offensive. Supply chain issues are evident some days no water or something else Everything is very slow and inefficient.
The staff at the concierge were rude and inattentive. Whenever we called the front desk, we often did not get through. It took us 2 hours past check in time to get our room. We heard from multiple people at the resort how unhappy they were with the service. On the other hand, we loved our room. We chose the room with the soaking tub and swim-up pool. Thank goodness for the room and the all inclusive benefits which made our experience at this Sandals resort enjoyable.
Arrived at reception where they had no record of our booking. Waited three hours before this was resolved then we had a multitude of problems for the 4 nights we stayed. No sunbeds available unless you get up at 6.30am to claim one. No towels available. Issues with getting into restaurants and not only the bookable ones. Extremely rude staff especially the barmaid Cathy at the courtyard bar, the hostess at Bombay and the hostess at Schooners. So much so that we actually couldn't believe it. Some staff are helpful but others shouldn't be working in the hospitality industry. Will never return and will tell everyone i speak to don't ever go to a Sandals resort. Glad we were only there for 4 nights. Some people we spoke to where there for 10 nights and were so upset
Positives-Friendly & helpful staff. Clean & well maintained property. Food-ALL DELICIOUS Negative-hard to get beach & pool chairs. IMPOSSIBLE to get specialty Restaruant reservations.
A 5 star resort with 2 star (at best) service. 1st time Sandals guests, decided to treat ourselves to 3 nights for birthday celebrations & 4th wedding anniversary. On arrival, no welcome drinks, no acknowledgment of our celebrations, (or throughout the rest of our stay for that matter). We were quarantined for our first night (although fully vaccinated & negative tested), we did not receive room service as offered, no food or drink (other than mini bar). So from 5pm through 7am the next morning, we didn’t eat and we hadn’t eaten since breakfast on morning of travel due to flight times etc. Reception staff extremely unhelpful, no accountability, no management and no resolution or effort to make up for the terrible treatment and service, even though we were assured (3 times) that the ‘incident’ would be investigated. Which it wasn’t. We witnessed other couples complaining at reception too, so not just us! Vegetarian food was served with shrimp, even though expressly ordered as vegetarian, chef thought it was ok to pick out the shrimp and reserve cold..as if we wouldn’t be able to tell. Tennis lesson booked with a pro, but cancelled the night before with no explanation. Basically, if you want to have a great time in Barbados, don’t stay here, stay somewhere cheaper & go support local restaurants, where the service is way better, people much nicer and appreciate your custom.
NOT WORTH THE MONEY! The food was delicious, but that was about it. When we arrived the place was dirty right from the entrance. Beach covered in red tide/seawood and unusable. Service was mediocre at best. There was a handful of employees who were fantastic but the rest of the staff were rude and dismissive. Drinks were weak - had maybe a half of shot per mixed drink. When i asked if they could make it stronger the bartender rolled her eyes at me. Multiple restaurants were closed and the ONLY option for lunch on our side was pizza which took 25 minutes to order. On our first day they served us the wrong pizza. When we returned it, we then watched them serve it to another table. Given that they couldnt keep the towel racks full “because of COVID”, this seemed quite unsanitary. COVID excuse was used often, although couldnt understand how it applied to many things including availability of their usual late night menu. We have been to other resorts for less than half the price where the entertainment, cleanliness, and service is was 10x better. Would not go back.
We love this resort. Amazing service and delicious food - lots of variety so you don't get sick of the same food everyday
After a decidedly stressful check in we had a great time. Great food, nice room, great staff who helped show us how to sail and free scuba (if you’re qualified!) If you’ve already had your second COVID test make sure you email them your results in advance so you don’t end up in the old sandals resort doing quarantine!!
The service in all of the restaurants was ridiculously slow. Pool bars normally only had one bartender, but several guests just waiting in line to get drinks. There was nowhere to get a quick burger or hot dog without sitting down in a restaurant. It may be due to covid 19, but I was not impressed with my first visit to a Sandals resort.
The hotel was fine just lacking management training for staff who in general were good. No napkins, cocktail sticks or drinks mats on any of the bars you spill a little of your drink you have to wipe/dry your hands on your pants or shirt never known this anywhere
Liked the location and setting of the property. Room was as pictured on line. Staff were friendly and helpful as could be. Only minor complaints were there were never the proper number of towels and rarely any wash cloths left... we had to call for additional almost nightly. Also the music throughout the property always seemed a bit too loud (especially in the restaurants) and we missed hearing more steel drum/island style version, especially of holiday music.
Pros: clean, friendly staff, quick room service, facilities and pool were nicely kept. There is a bowling alley, games, shuffle board, etc. - things to do was plentiful. Cons: the food was sub-par and at times disappointing (stale cereal & crackers, watery eggs, mostly bland, the sushi tasted like grocery store sushi); we felt for the amt of $$ we spent, the food should be a lot better. Also, at times the food staff gave us attitude (we received a couple of eye rolls). The entertainment can be better as well - we went to a Christmas play and the performance was cringeworthy. Over all this place was very nice, clean, welcoming and we found things to do. But not worth the cost. We most likely won’t return.
The overall staff was pretty good, we had problems with room services every night ( no clean washcloths ) also had problems getting into restaurant(s) that didn't take reservation...Treated people with butler services, first priority on restaurant, pool service, etc... Had to call manager at one restaurant because we were told we have over an hour wait time ( it was 10 or more empty tables in plain site that was empty. At another food place food was cold , brought out soda with no ice.....Some resort staff walk pass us without asking did we need anything.....Every night I had to call housekeeping for washcloths..every night ….. Last night at resort bed wasn't turn back, dirty towels left on bathroom floor....this is a 5 star resort, didn't seem like one....Some.people are treated different than others.....Some places we wasn't even asked to be help after standing there we had to ask them for help but others walk up after us they were asked can they help them. Don't know if I ever revisit this resort hope management will see to things getting and people treated the same.
Food was very good but service at restaurants was very slow - breakfast and dinner took 2 hours. Never got refills on coffee and sometimes had to beg for it repeatedly. Air conditioning was so so (did not go below 68) and some of the rooms smelled moldy. They did move us to a new building. Beautiful water and beautiful resort. We had a great time.
The food was excellent. Staff was very friendly. The property grounds and property itself is a little warn. Needs a facelift
The resort was absolutely beautiful, clean, easy to navigate and had everything you could ever possibly want. I’m talking you can even have a butler if that’s what you like! Multiple huge wonderfully kept pools, hot tubs, a spa that allows you use of The saunas and steam rooms of services are used at all through the week. The only complaint I really have is that my doors to my balcony in my room (club level oceanfront) wouldn’t close to make contact with the device that triggers the ac on when it is closed. On the last day I couldn’t get the door working at all. Maintenance came at 9pm though and did what they could do the ac was put into an auto mode but it wasn’t the best. Also they never had vanilla ice cream when I was there!!!! They were always out at the cafe de Paris (a wonderful little treat but open from like 8am-10pm). But I left here literally booking another trip to another sandals location and I intend to revisit this location.
Amazing food, drinks, activities, staff and facility. The food in particular was exceptional - SO many different options and types of cuisine and it was all delicious. We are already planning our next visit.
Extremely understaffed and even though it’s an all inclusive we were not able to obtain reservations at the better restaurants, even though the hotel was only about 50% booked. Also, our reservation at the spa was not upheld due to the barber being “out to lunch”, in addition we ended up walking out of one of the better restaurants after we were not seated at 10PM for a 9:30PM reservation. Very disappointed with everything to say the least. We ended up checking out of the hotel 2 days early as we felt the resort ruined our honeymoon.
For years, we have seen the television commercials advertising Sandals Resorts, with 'unparalleled five-star service' and the exquisite accommodations, locations and magazine worthy actors. We were lured in by the promise of an unforgettable vacation where you are treated so special, like royalty - because you deserve the trip of a lifetime. We met many lovely guests while at the resort - from Canada, England, Michigan, Texas, Kentucky and many other places. All traveled far, and many have been to multiple Sandals locations. They ALL agreed that this was, by far, the worst service they ever received. It is a shame, because we saved and waited a long time to go to a Sandals. Property is pretty and well maintained but a little tired and in need of some renovations. Service at this Sandals resort is NOT five-star - lots of grumpy, grouchy people that seemed annoyed to be working there. Service across the resort is inconsistent as is drink choice/quality/preparations. We would like to try some of the others (Antigua, St. Lucia) but are hesitant now. It is not inexpensive and for what you pay, you shouldn't need to purchase the Butler level to feel like you are an important guest. ALL guests should be important and made to feel special for what you spend to stay. We still made the very best of our trip and enjoyed ourselves. After all, it is a week off from work, in a resort on a Caribbean island. Just don't expect Five Star Service at this Sandals as advertised.
This property was overrated for the amount paid for the stay. Rooms were dated and in need of repair. The food was 3star.
The property was very well maintained and clean. There are numerous free activities and many other exciting options to choose from. The restaurants are awesome and the buffet has a lot of great selections. Everyone is always friendly and the service is great. The only thing that I would change is it would be helpful if the stores or lobby could provide change for US dollars when reguested. We had the need for some smaller bills and it was even tough to find change for a $20 or $50 dollar bill.
Amazing perfect
The resort is absolutely beautiful: from the moment you walk in every person says Good Morning, is checking in on you go make sure you are having an amazing experience. Definitely one of the most clean cut resorts that I have been to. The food is excellent, and you have so many choices! Room service and housekeeping are literally a button away. Our room: GORGEOUS! Thanks to Cristal, Keron, and Carol Ann, also Brian and Ms. Barrow at the poolside Bars. There was also a woman who worked at spices with a yellow shirt, love and glasses. Those are just the names I remember from my trip, but EVERY STAFF MEMBER made my stay incredible!
Beautiful property. The attention given to us by the staff was superb. Everyone on the resort was very professional and welcoming. What a great way to celebrate our 10yr wedding anniversary.
Excellent stay. Food was great. Very friendly staff. Very clean resort. Highly recommend
Check in time was confusing and lengthy, Butler service was very good after we showed some frustration, some restaurant and pool staff were very unfriendly and to top it off housekeeping stole the envelopes with our Butler's tips (marked with their names on all three)!
Absolutely gorgeous hotel. Food and bars are great. Hotel staff is awesome. Only downside is the locals walking up and down the beach trying to sell you things. Somewhat aggressive and was actually cornered and encouraged to pay money. Didn’t give in and told them to back off. Also offered drugs by one passer by but other than that absolutely no complaints about the hotel. Sadly, you can’t own the beach in front of the resort but the hotel does have security that patrols and encourages them to leave.
I really enjoyed my stay in Barbados. Great weather, food and people. The Sandals concept is well worth the experience but a bit pricey. The staff was very friendly, kind and considerate. Most importantly no hassles, trying to sell timeshares like other resorts. Liked the fact that you could use the Royals switching back and forth with both properties. Decided to just stay on the grounds and relax.
The service was outstanding. The staff was pleasant, fun and made you feel right at home. The food was unbelievable, totally gourmet and delicious! The resort was clean and very well maintained. Overall nothing to complain about. So much to do and something for everyone. Thank you Sandals!
This Sandals in Barbados was recommended by a friend. The room was clean and spacious even for a standard room. It had a nice balcony with plenty of room to stretch out.The A/C unit kept the room cool but not cold like some others. There was a nice choice of restaurants. Be careful when ordering a steak because they are a little thinner and well done was very well done. Kimono's, the Hibachi place, served up a very good meal. Chef was very entertaining.Their buffet for breakfast had a lot of choices. Their omlet chef-Anthony- was both entertaining and a very good cook. Highly recommend getting an omlet. They offered many different healthy choices as well. A very good mix of fruits that were very fresh. They even have a fresh juice machine where you can watch your juice being squeezed. Never seen that before. The grounds are very well kept. There are plenty of lounge chairs along the beach but the pool gets crowded early so get out there to stake your chair. This was a very relaxing vacation for both my wife and me. We joined their Sandals club and do plan on returning.
Drive from the airport at 11:00 pm was like a ride on the "wild mouse" roll-a-coaster. The ipad check in was too long and unnecessary. The music around the old pool was for employees not the guests. Entertainment microphone was too loud. The food at all the venues was very good. Birds at the breakfast dining was annoying and unsanitary.
Room was a lot smaller than the picture, paid extra for concierge service Not worth it, room was stated beachfront not so, all beachfront was overlooking the pool and palm trees then beach so ask before you pay extra, and pool music starts at 7:00 Loudly. The beach needs umbrellas, all they have is a few cabanas and the butlers grab them all at 5:30 am for the clients no shade on the beach, asked why no umbrellas they said too windy, but all the other hotels on both sides of Sandals have them with on problems.Could not get reservations in there famous(haha) steakhouse because once again the butlers take all the reservations for their people, so call asap when you walk on property if you want to eat at Butches. Went in to see the famous(haha) steakhouses was greeted by the rudest person Dawn was her name all we wanted was to have a drink and see this place she asked us more than once if we had a reservation we said no but would like to sit at the empty bar for a drink she reluctantly And rudely said ok. The bartender was so sweet his name was George. My advice is aks a lot of questions before you book Sandals
Room was not ready until after 4pm. We were not given the type of room we paid for. Air Conditioner made the room smell mouldy. The bathroom had stains across the floor that hadn't been cleaned. The sofa was badly soiled and could not be used. Luggage went missing. Only 3 out of more than 10 restaurants open each day. Staff could care less.
From the time my wife and I arrived at the resort, the service was excellent. We came to the resort at 9:30am and were allowed to partake immediately even though our check-in time was @ 3:00pm. We booked the Caribbean Village Grand Luxe Room. The food was great, the the performances were excellent, the facilities were on point and the beach was perfect. We were very lucky to be there when Sandals Royal Barbados opened. When I thought the resort couldn’t get better, they proved me wrong. The restaurants and bars were outstanding, the landscaping was beautiful, the pools were gorgeous. Don’t even get me started on the bowling alley. There were a few issues we encountered: 1. The bed- The blanket didn’t reflect the sandals warmth and comfort. The mattress felt a bit lumpy. 2. The air conditioner- When it was on, the air was very dry and caused my wife and I to get sore throats. We had to turn on the hot water in the shower and leave the shower door open to allow the moisture to go through the room so that it would be more comfortable to breathe. 3. The reservations- We made reservations for Kimonos for the 19th of December. Upon arrival at the restaurant they couldn’t find our reservations but they still allowed us to dine. We made 2 other reservations but one of the restaurants was not ready to be opened on the Royal Barbados resort and the other had the wrong date registered.
A really nice hotel, staff were fantastic. From the moment we arrived, we were pampered. The restaurants were top notch. Rooms were cleaned, and restocked daily. The beach is nice, they were in the process of constructing a life guard station. The only negative experience we had was being conned by a cab driver. That doesn't reflect bad on the hotel, it certainly wasn't their fault. But travellers be aware. Set an agreed price on your cab ride before you get in.
We really enjoyed our first stay at a Sandals resort and have already booked to stay at another one. The accommodation was very new and clean and the staff almost always so helpful and friendly. I would particularly mention the quality of the restaurants and food/drink - first class and as good as anywhere in the world I have stayed when in 5* all inclusive. For us tho there were 3 negatives to consider. The noise from the building work next door could be awful on the beach - but that hotel is due to open in less than 3 weeks so that should end that. The beach is standard gorgeous Caribbean but because there is little shade everyone huddles with their sunbeds under the few trees - a bit sardine like. I have asked why there are no shade umbrellas on the beach and they are going to reconsider this. Lastly the music is often played loudly by the pool during the day - not for us but others may like that. Overall a good positive experience and as I said we have already booked to go to another Sandals next year.
Sun bed problem with lack of sun shades. Plenty of sun beds on the beach but no umbrellas making it totally impossible to use for the best part of the day. They need to purchase some umbrellas. People were burning unnecessarily due to lack of sun shades
The hotel and overall property are amazing. I can't think of a bad thing to say - food, restaurant variety, staff, grounds, room, beach, water, etc.- everything is excellent. Don't listen to any of the poor reviews for this property. I guarantee anyone who has a problem here caused the problem themselves or is in general a chronic complainer for the sake of complaining.
Overall very happy with my trip. Terrific hospitality, very friendly and customer oriented staff.
Everyone at this hotel was extremely rude and condescending at all times. The staff were lazy and looked annoyed to do their jobs. We had so many issues with our rooms and they overcharged us for a spa treatment. 3 facials ended up costing us $1475. When we challenged the charge their answer was, if you don't pay it we call the police and they'll throw you in prison, I told them I would not pay it until I spoke to the manager and then the police showed up and told me my options were to get my credit card and pay right now or they would take arrest me, my wife and my mother right then and there. Wow!!! The guy even showed me his gun. Do yourselves a favor, avoid this place at all cost.
Stayed 5 days/4 nights in September. The free shuttle from the airport was great and the wait was short. The staff greeted the shuttle with a welcome song, nice touch, and then handed out a glass of champagne while an individual member checked us in. The resort is lush with tropical plants that is well tended and is very scenic. The room was clean and nicely decorated. The pool water was clear and the swim up bar a plus. The white sand beach was beautiful and the Caribbean water was warm and inviting. It obviously wasn't at peak capacity, which made it easy to obtain beach/pool lounge chairs and there were no lines at the restaurants. The food quality was high and there were so many restaurants to choose from that we didn't get to experience them all. The entire staff were extremely polite and friendly. One of the main gardeners (Markson-sp?) even spent 20 minutes with my wife and I pointing out and discussing the flowering plants, which we both enjoyed. We had two days of rain when hurricane Maria passed far north of the island but we never lost power and it gave us time to relax and enjoy the drinks by the main covered bar. Had a fantastic time and would gladly stay at another Sandel's resort if they are all like this one.
This was my 2nd Sandals Resort and 6th all inclusive resort overall, and I must say that the food was by far the best food that I have ever had on an all inclusive resort! Kimonos was the best of all, the service and the flavor of the food was amazing. We wanted to of back the next night but we had already booked a candlelit dinner on the beach for our anniversary which was very nice as well and the food provided was top notch and well worth the price. The only restaurant that we did not have enough time to visit was Schooners which we heard was very nice as well. The Italian restaurant servers the best breakfast (omg the omelets)! Our room was just the garden room but it was clean and spacious for my husband and I. One thing that I must warn anyone that is reading this about is the mosquitos... Bring lots of bug spray! we had mosquitos in our room and couldn't really utilize the patio area because of it. The only thing that I didn't like about the resort was that they are adding a phase 2 and they start construction every day around 8:00 so I couldn't sleep in at all because of the noise. The construction is supposed to be done by December 2018 so after that the noise level should be fine. Still 5 stars given because I was absolutely blown away by everything from beginning to end. This resort also has pretty cool entertainment.
Room was very comfortable, Wi-Fi worked well even by the main pool, food was very good in all restaurants, Overall a very good place to stay, would definitely stay again.
Amazing experience....staff were all very friendly. Felt like we were famous- always getting treated and waited on. Food and drinks were very delicious and plentiful. Even lying on the beach you get drink service! Our room was cleaned multiple times a day, with constant fresh towels and cold water bottles. This was our first Sandals experience and we are hooked!!
The accommodations were well spent for an adult resort but had trouble with mosquitoes and sand fleas which were not expected. Overall a great resort experience.
It was disappointing to arrive and see that construction was taking place right outside our balcony and no one mentioned this to us at checkin. We tried to ignore because we wanted to have a good time. Before arriving, I called & emailed them to make them aware of our anniversary and to try & reserve dinner. They wouldnt let me prebook Butch's but when we got there told us it was full! After several calls a mgr somehow squeezed us in & we arrived to an almost empty restaurant! The server told us the restaurant is only full at 7:30! We moved past that as well. We initially chose Sandals b/c snokeling is included but they told us it was cancelled b/c the bridgeworkers were on strike but to check back everyday. Turns out it was cancelled everyday except Friday & they were full! A mgr somehow got us in again. Still very dissappointing to only snorkel once when that was the main reason we picked Sandals. Lastly, be prepared to wait for any food outside of the buffet. We waited almost an hour for every meal that we had to order! We were patient and understanding with Sandals because we really wanted to enjoy our vacation.(they didnt offer any concessions or anything!) The staff was friendly and helpful for the most part. We spoke to another couple who assured us that Sandals Barbados is not the best Sandals so dont be discouraged but they were frustrated with the wait times as well. They recommened a few other locations that we would love to try in the future
The hotel has great pools, amazingly delicious food, and great room service.
Arrived 04/22/17 and departed 04/30/17. Currently expanding and construction is in progress on the Sandals next door. Starts around 7 and stops around 5. Some staff members are amazing especially Ken Thomas in the dive shop. He taught my group in the pool and got me certified to dive and came in on his off days to dive with me. Staff is helpful and cheerful. The gardens are perfection and rooms are very comfortable. Great variety of food available.
The hotel staff were very rude unless you provided a tip. Also, even if you had concierge service, it was delivered with attitude or sarcasm. It was difficult to get assistance with anything. Minimum wait time for anything was one hour. We were not impressed!
After over 5 months of planning to surprise my wife for our 20 years anniversary, I can honestly say this experience was the worst ever. Starting from staff being really rude, to customer service being substandard, to even a lack of effort on orders for room service.
The welcoming to the hotel was surprisingly fantastic. The staff at the hotel especially the Director of Guest Services were very friendly, kind and accommodating as they went out of their way to make our vacation a memorable one. The food, drinks and entertainment was excellent. We will definitely visit Sandals Barbados again and choose Sandals as our home away from home.
Very beautiful location for a Sandals Resort in Barbados. Unfortunately there were a lot of downsides to this resort. All beach's on island are Public! So forget about just relaxing on the beach with no interference of people trying to sale you something. Also they are doing construction on 800 new rooms etc. False advertisement on the actual rooms themselves. No fancy anything in the rooms unless you spend every dime on the top dollar rooms. Pool area was small and crowded and not much to do during rain storms. Not wanting to say it was all bad, just highlighting a lot of the things that you should be aware of if visiting.
