Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Upon checking in lift not working and we were in 3rd floor , NO water or drinks in room , mouldy shower area . Went to the bar and was told they have no bar ! Er yes you have what’s this , cat just get a drink as no area . Only food and can get drink with food . Never heard of it . Free parking was the only good thing
The reception staff were really helpful. All went smoothly and great that is has a 24 hour reception.Room was very comfortable and we slept well even though we were close to nigh clubs it was very quiet. The breakfast menu seems luxury however when we mentioned we were vegan the staff member seemed put out (huffing, sighing and rolling eyes) she asked if we ate eggs??? Then proceeded to say we could have the Mondo breakfast without eggs, sausage, bacon etc. As our life choices seemed to be too much for the staff member we opted take dry toast and beans, so not so luxury at all. I accept that catering for vegans may be outwith the norm, but this is a hospitality hotel / restaurant that has a lovely separate vegan menu for lunch and dinner. It wouldn't take a lot to add this to the breakfast menu. The staff attitude however is something that really needs t be addressed. We should have not been made to feel that we we a nuisance because of what we choose to eat or not eat. If this was a religious choice would the attitude be different? We will be visiting again as have family there but because of the staff attitude at breakfast we will think twice about booking, which is such a shame. Hospitality staff should be just that, this staff member was not nor were they professional.
I was in the area to watch local football team Albion Rovers Fc and chose this hotel as was only 1/2 a mile away from the ground (just my luck however that the match was called off due to poor weather!!) I missed the hotel at first when following sat nav but turned around and found the car park on the upper level ( not sure how to get to lower level) The hotel is great. Friendly welcome from reception (entrance isn’t on main st as that’s the mondo restaurant but done a few steps to the side is where the hotel entrance is. Room was clean and comfy bed ! I was on the 3rd floor and like other reviews have stated, there is a nightclub nearby but I wasn’t disturbed by it all and I’m a light sleeper !! En-suite clean and decent walk in shower. Tea/coffee and kettle (found inside the wardrobe) was fine. I booked direct with the hotel so got breakfast as part of the stay. You can help yourself to coffee from flasks which was fine. Breakfast wasn’t buffet but service from a waitress who was really pleasant. Food was a little on the small side tbh (one sausage, one bacon served on toast) but I’m on a diet so no probs lol! It did say on the menu for extra items there would be an extra charge so I didn’t bother. I would stay again and thank you for a pleasant stay at an affordable rate
Great Staff excellent service. Nice and tidy hotel. Would have given 5 stars but felt it was let down by not having a rest bar/Lounge
Overall a good priced hotel slightly out of the city with free parking. Rooms are small but clean and comfortable.
The staff - particularly the evening clerk who checked me in was a pure delight. The pillows are very flat. The hotel is nice, but on first arrival felt a little sketchy. There are a couple restaurants in the area, but they weren't good. It's convenient to the rail station so easy to take side trips.
Clean rooms and friendly staff - plus the restaurant onsite has everything you need.
Spotless and quite
Nice hotel.
Stayed for 1 night. Nice hotel. Restaurant was really good for dinner and breakfast.
Food was excellent. Upgraded shower room was lovely but I prefer a cake of soap and not liquid soap. Door hook for towels was loose as missing a grub screw (Room 311).
Location was great. Staff were so friendly and pleasant, really nice receptionist was super lovely and welcoming. Breakfast was lovely, really nice coffee food was super, staff again lovely. The room itself decoration a bit tired and in need of a thorough clean the coffee machine was dirty where you open and pop in caps and generally the carpet required a thorough clean around edges, as there was a build up of edge dust. The decorational throw at the bottom of the bed was in need of an iron. The shower is where it was really bad, there is a build up of mould in corners and and along seals where tray joins tiles, and just needs a thorough clean with a corner bristle brush it was disgusting to be honest.
Wonderful stay Gorgeous food
The bedrooms in the hotel were good quality but I booked because it says there is a bar and lounge area and there isn't, you can only get a drink in the restaurant and only if you are eating. This needs to be addressed as it is misleading and I wouldn't stay again because of this.
Staff was exceptionally accommodating
Only stayed one night - very clean and comfortable.
Great hotel unfortunately right next to a busy roundabout, so had traffic noise early in the morning, but staff and facilities are excellent.
Good location, Sunnyside Train station a 15 minute walk and goes to Glasgow City centre. Lovely breakfast.
Very good
Regular staying here on business, Always clean and comfortable. I tend to travel solo and its reassuring that the restaurant is accessible through the hotel without having to go out so everything is there that you need. Easy and parking, even better now the EV stations are fitted. Shout out to Toni Marie - so helpful, nothing is ever a problem - THANK YOU !
Great night’s stay in Mondo. Difficulty with finding how to drive to the lower ground car park but once parked we entered hotel and had good service. Room was great and comfortable bed. We were on top floor so didn’t hear much noise at all. Luckily we had booked restaurant prior to staying as it was fully booked. Food very good. We went with friends but Sadly there was no bar or lounge to go to so we all had to go back to our bedrooms early. Breakfast choice very good but again busy. We visited the summerlees outdoor museum which was 10 minute walk from hotel. The museum was well worth going to and was free!! Would stay again.
Brilliant stay from start to finsh cant fault anything will definitely stay again
Great place, good location
Poor, rooms in poor condition. Staff didn’t seems to know what they were doing and you can’t get a cup of coffee, soft drink or wine in the attached restaurant unless you have booked a meal. Will not be staying again. Hotel badly needs an upgrade
Not great for the price. Hilton a few miles away, same price bracket but with a lot more facilities. Room was tiny-yes it has a king size (and comfortable) bed but literally no room to move or even store your case also not particularly clean. Lights beside bed literally hanging off and the toilet didn’t flush properly-was told to keep trying by staff. Wall have holes and the bathroom radiator was not actually connected. Hotel in general in need of a major upgrade as very very worn and tired-which the staff did acknowledge when I discussed being disappointed. Staff friendly but did not inspire confidence. I have a email from the hotel linking my two nights to stay in the one room- check in knew nothing-meant to fix-didn’t so had lots of problems following day. Hotel facilities are not great the onsite restaurant isn’t owned by the hotel and you aren’t allowed to have a drink at the bar or even a coffee without booking a table and ordering a meal. Location of hotel is good within walking distance to town and in my case function however will not stay again unless it has been refurbished and at least has facility to get coffee (even takeaway coffee) in the onsite restaurant. Would rather spend a few extra pounds on a taxi. This was booked for my 50th birthday as a treat and did not meet expectations only plus is it’s walkable location.
Small rooms. Terrible coffee at breakfast (though staff enjoy special coffees), small rooms, very limited bathroom space in bathrooms
Stayed here now on and off for past three months, staff are pleasant and helpful, always been on the 3rd floor no complaints but 1st and 2nd floor all the tv's in the rooms are dated, no Netflix apps don't load, ok if you want to watch stuff from the 80's or 90's,especially when they charge enough for the rooms.
The kitchen is situated above room 103 and is really noisy, otherwise everything else was great.
Very nice clean property, Sharon on the front desk couldn’t have done more she was amazing! Thank you again :)
Ive just come back from a weekend stay at the mondo in coatbridge unfortunatelyi had a bad fall not long after arriving and booking in as soon as i was able to inform reception what had happened i cannot say in enough words the aftercare owas given by all the receptionstaff at the hotel was second to none they went the extra mile insure my aftercare and my needs becausei was bedridden were taken care of regards that there was perodic checks done by the staff to make sure iwas
Stayed in the mondo again consistently good service
Tired hotel in need of a make over
The hotel is quite nice but be aware that the restaurant and bar closes at 8.15 even thought reception says it 8.30 They would not let have a drink or anything at all. Very disappointing and we won’t be using this hotel again
Nice room with kettle and Nespresso machine, slippers and dressing gown. Comfortable bed and nice linen. Restaurant was also good.
I would recommend this hotel. Great staff. Handy to transport to Glasgow. Room and ensuite spacious. Bed very comfortable. Restaurant very good. Cleanliness very good.
I didn’t like the area, I was put in a room in which was extremely noisy, under the restaurant and right beside the lifts and stairs, it didn’t feel secure and I asked to be moved, I got moved but only once I packed my stuff and got the key did she say “your new room is a downgrade” which I thought was so poor. Overall wouldn’t stay again or recommend to anyone.
The ambience was good. Neat room Good customer service
Excellent staff Very comfy beds Ideal for visiting central Scotland Close to major roads
Great Hotel and bed was very comfy
Only complaint was as a hotel resident could not sit and have a drink in the bar/ restaurant when we came in at 9pm even though there were empty tables. Could only take drink to room. Not convenient if there are a few of you staying!
A lovely overnight stay. Parking was available right at the door and was free, staff at check in and checkout were lovely also. Room was modern and very clean, the new bathroom was also very nice. Great for one night and would definitely stay again
Was nice but did not realise there was a dance hall next to it so trying to get to sleep was hard
Hotel was nice and clean but our room was very small. We had to put our suitcases on the bed in order to open them. Bathroom was updated. A little noisy with the window open. No air conditioning so needed the window open to get some fresh air.
Booked a single night. Tried to go through the doors marked Mondo at street level to be told there was no access - go back outside and then down outside stairs to reception - in the rain! Reception pretty efficient. Took a room on the second floor. Room nice and clean as was the bathroom, only issue was the bedroom door that literally slammed shut with a bang loud enough to wake up everyone! Plenty of power sockets although bedside lamp was not working or at least I could not get it to work. Tea/coffee making facilities and complimentary soaps etc in the bathroom. There is no catering. Breakfast and other meals are served next door in the Mondo restaurant. Remember the comment about not being able to access the hotel? Well you can get to the restaurant from the hotel- strange although the access route is via a corridor adjacent to the kitchen and as it stored boxes of potatoes was not in keeping with the fire escape rules seen in the lift. Parking is available - the top floor is at street level and was full. Perhaps you can publish how to get to the bottom floor to avoid the stairs with luggage. Despite the foregoing I would stay here again but would go somewhere else for breakfast, as I thought it was not in keeping with a normal hotel breakfast.
Not amaizingly clean, everything else was ok.
Do not stay here unless you like the idea of lying awake until 3am and the feeling of your bed being inside the nightclub next door. Walls are paper thin so to top it all of could hear the couple next door - not what you want to hear. Please don’t book this hotel and put yourself through the same ordeal. Oh and charged us £20 to check in early. Photos are deceiving and hotel is bog standard at best, pillows are horrific. Don’t waste your money, I’ve stayed in better tents.
The food was amazing in the restaurant.. the steak pie 👏👏👏
Our stay at the Mondo was exceptional. The staff was friendly and helpful to answer all questions we had about the area and EV charging for our car hire. Many restaurants and grocery stores nearby within walking distance from hotel. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay again.
Stayed here umpteen times, love it , great place, great helpful staff 😘
Lovely hotel friendly staff
Stayed here several times, staff are pleasant and helpful, restaurant food is lovely, close to all amenities so all good
Easy parkingm convenient for electric car drivers. A few ports available and easy application to set up charging. Room was clean and tidy and provided all the amenities you could need for a short break. Bed and pillows were very ocmfortable. Would highly recommend as staff were fantastic!
Ideal for our overnight stay clean and comfy bed tea and coffee provided also bottled water and two Tunnocks caramel wafers plugs by the bed small wardrobe and decent sized bathroom with decent shower only small issue was the netflix on tv wouldnt work
very friendly staff, nice and clean, no problem with check in / out
Great hotel .Rooms very clean and the staff were lonely
Perfect stay, I was myself meeting up with old friends, staff bent over backwards, to ensure I was ok, and had everything I needed.
I lived in this hotel when working in Coatbridge in 2018 and felt very at home there. It is still great place to stay.
Good stay . The receptionist was good and gave us the room we preferred with no issues. Easy car parking . Central to shops ,restaurants etc.
The receptionist was nice and friendly
I think the relationship between the hotel and the restaurant is unclear I was unable to have dinner there though it was open for breakfast for guests only!!!!
Freezing cold rooms, where radiators don’t work. Rooms are not cleaned properly and constant noise throughout the night. The staff were really nice and the food was at the restaurant was good, but there is no bar area to relax in. This is not a hotel I would recommend if you want to unwind and relax.
Stayed here many times . Was down visiting family nearby so really only used the room for sleeping . Comfy bed and black out blinds gave us a good sleep . Handy for the town centre pubs and takeaways . Shower and amenities in the room are good with decent size TV.
Would recommend to anyone. Enjoyed my stay and had a lovely meal in Mondo's Restaurant
Had bad experience with a member of the restaurant staff. She told me I had to sit in the middle of the restaurant, surrounded by diners, to drink a beer. She explained that they do not have a bar area for hotel guests after informing me that the restaurant kitchen had closed at 8:30pm (it was 8:35pm). I just wanted to sit away from the diners but she insisted that I sit at the table she had chosen.
🌻 Great central location, bit noise from the clubs if you get a room that side but wasnt too bad
breakfast was poor
I arrived at the hotel really late in the evening and the reception was lovely and very helpful. First impressions when you walk in reception are it’s lovely, go through the door and it’s just not as nice. It’s def needing a good clean/hoover. The lift is a bit slow and takes its time, once in the room it was def cleaner however there was quite a few marks on the duvet cover, not sure if it was mould or something, bed was comfortable enough, tea and coffee stuff in the wardrobe but no fridge or water in the room, however I did get couple of bottles after asking at reception. The bathroom is nice however the plastic bath Matt was really dirty/stained so I never used that and the shower which is over the bath wasn’t that good. The hotel is off the restaurant which is lovely. The hotel is in right in the centre of Coatbridge perfect walking distance to train station, shops, pubs and restaurants which are near by. The hotel would do well if it was taken care off and re decorated. Staff are fabulous extremely helpful and really nice.
Lovely stay and staff went over and above when our car wouldn’t start the next day
Nice hotel in Coatbridge town centre. Lovely staff at reception and in the restaurant
Clean, quiet. I had good quality sleep after long travel.
My trip was for personal reasons, and the hotel was in a convenient location. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Two carparks, one is easy to get into and has a height restriction on it, the lower carpark is around the back of the hotel. Both good sizes Quick check on all information given Lift to all floors The room was a good size as was the shower room. Bed is super comfortable Wifi excellent Shower was hot and powerful then ½ though just lost power and it just dribbled out. Evening meal was good, tad on the pricey side, service was excellent. Location in the center of town, lots of nice walks close by. Would definitely stay again but definitely check the water situation first! And the biscuits as it was an opened packet with 1 eaten!!!
Staff were wonderful , room very clean , shower was great , breakfast was delicious , definitely going to stay here again when i am in Coatbridge.
We had a lovely time and we would recommend this hotel to family and friends 😊 thank you.
I cannot say enough good things about this hotel . The food is amazing and the dining room is extremely welcoming and cozy but classy and fun. The staff were extremely accommodating and kind . I was blown away by the kindness of the ladies (and Declan) who ran the Mondo dinning room. The front desk staff - the two Sharon’s and the lovely Sam took excellent care of me - even helping me with my shopping from the taxi to my room. More located in the center of the town and walking to anything needed . If I’m ever near I willl absolutely return !
I got there around 1330,Room was not Ready but I knew that might be the case, the receptionist was very helpful, she tried to get the cleaners to try and get my room ready,as she knew I had traveled 7 hrs,I went out for some food came back room was still not ready, but that’s ok,it’s the fact Sharon F Went above and beyond to help, thank you so much, all were helpful very impressed.i will be back at some point.
Nice Hotel, excellent restaurant attached. Unfortunately the cleanliness of the bathroom Shower area in particular was poor
Awful hotel, images on the booking are deceiving. Car parking has a number of stairs down to the hotel so wouldn’t be great for people with mobility issues. The room itself stunk of smoke, hairs in the bed, and the shower temperature was lukewarm at most (literally took your breath away trying to get showered). Honestly one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in, the area it’s located is also really run down and deprived, it didn’t feel safe at all.
Very friendly and Helpful staff, a number of restaurants and bars within walking distance.
Four stars no way. Basic room even though claimed to be upgraded one . bit tatty. No shampoo or conditioner. Hard bed hard pillows. Basic tea and coffee. No breakfast included Loads of stairs hard with bags. Like a very basic 2 star. Noisy from above next door rooms doorss slamming and road noise Had ground floor actually below ground so dingy couldn't open window .no air-conditioning. Weedy shower. Booked thru booking com and listing was misleading. Not impressed but cheapish
We stayed overnight at this hotel. Reception staff were pleasant and friendly. Our room was adequate and cosy. Breakfast in the morning was ok, We both opted for the full Mondo, staff were attentive, however the sausages etc could have been warmer. Point to note if you are a light sleeper then ask for a room as far away from the main road as you can hear the music from the nightclub until 2 or 3 in the morning!
Co
Well placed, 24hour reception.
The property was old and very dated. The pictures arent a true reflection of the property. Staff were very helpful.
30 of us arrived for 2 nights stay and on both nights the restaurant couldn't cope so many of us dined elsewhere. It's quite a small restaurant with a breakfast area for guests in one corner. Check in, staff and rooms were fine, and so was breakfast for all of us all served quickly. Found out restaurant only has alcohol licence for diners but plenty of pubs near by. From main road a number of steps to get to hotel entrance from main road, but better access from car park. Better than trying to find a hotel in Glasgow with 2 railway stations nearby and major roads.
Everything was perfect. No clock in room though except for tv.
We stayed at the mondo hotelfor 3 nights.for a 4 star hotel very basic.premier inn would be more luxurious. Sorry about this but wouldn't stay again
Positives: large comfy bed, nice shower Negatives: awkward parking (no clear signs), hot rooms with a fan in the wardrobe, needs updating as large dents in the bedroom wall and tatty paintwork in the corridors, took out the hairdryer and it was covered in dirt!
Stayed at this hotel after Expedia cancelled our booking 11 months after it was made and 3 weeks before we were due to visit Scotland. This was the hotel offered even though it was miles from where we wanted to be. The area of Coatbridge is very tired and rundown and even though the hotel bed was comfortable with clean linen there were aspects that let it down. Mould around the edge of the bath, bedside light not working, bathroom extractor not working, no prices on the breakfast menu. Things that could easily be fixed and make a huge difference especially at a £700 cost for a four night stay. All things were reported whilst at the hotel and only the fan issue was resolved.
Good stuff.
The people at the hotel, specifically Sharon and Colette whom we encountered most, were so kind and friendly. We absolutely loved our stay. Note to other people who may not be accustomed to a more quaint style stay, this hotel does not have any fridges or ice so keeping food or drinks cold is not going to happen. Also, no air conditioners. We happened to stay during a pretty warm time so our room did get a little hot but the staff was very accommodating and found us a fan to use for the extent of our stay. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The town was quiet but still lovely and commuting was fine because the train is within walking distance. Make sure to grab food at The Mint if you’re in Coatbridge because it’s the best food you’ll find in all of Scotland from our perspective. Sorry Scotland, your food is terrible. Would I recommend the Mondo Hotel? Absolutely!
Great staff, very clean and comfortable hotel
The property is clean and is close to glascow so easy for travelling around
During my stay i had to endure all level of noice from the corridor as people marched up and down. The hotel room door was made not up to the job in terms of blocking this noise. May as well of being a sheet of paper. Also the first floor restaurant was above my room and provide constant noice from water and movement. Really not a pleasent and relaxing stay.. sadly will not return..
Nice hotel with very friendly helpful staff. Bed comfy. Shower good. Restaurant exceptional food wise. Could do with decorating, communal areas a little tired, especially the hallways. Nothing to do in town at all, very run down area, not hotels issue just worth noting.
Staff was awesome and very helpful. They gave us lots of tips to
The hotel and staff were lovely. The area was great too, lots of pubs and places to eat
We arrived for a 2 night stay whilst seeing family. We had a warm, friendly welcome on arriving. The room was great, and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was spotless, and WiFi was available if required. We will be booking again in the future.
Hotel nice enough and good location for our needs, staff nice and helpful. A nightclub next to the Hotel made it a very noisy Saturday night/Sunday morning so not the best nights sleep.
After a wonderful experience last year we decided to book again this year. The rooms are lovely & clean, comfortable beds & very quiet. We especially love the breakfast & being served by Jennifer. She is always bubbly & an excellent waitress. We hope to see her again next year 🇨🇦
