Castell Son Claret - The Leading Hotels of the World

Great hotel, but ultimately it depends on what you’re looking for from your Mallorca stay. We really enjoyed our stay at Castell Son Claret. The hotel design is beautiful, and the property has a wonderful sense of character and tranquility. Breakfast was excellent, and the service in the restaurants was consistently very good. Sa Clastra, the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant, was a particular highlight and a memorable dining experience. The spa was also very nice and added to the overall feeling of relaxation. There were, however, a couple of things that kept it from being a 9 or 10/10 for me. First, the arrival experience could be better. When we arrived, there was no one at the entrance to welcome us or assist with our luggage. I had to park the car and go inside to check in before someone eventually came out to help. For a hotel of this level, I would expect a more seamless and attentive arrival. The hotel’s location is also quite secluded. While this is part of its charm, the road back to the hotel isn’t the easiest, particularly at night when parts of the road have very little or no lighting. My biggest disappointment, however, was the gym. Given the size, architecture and overall standard of the property, I expected a much better fitness facility. Unfortunately, the gym is very small and has minimal equipment, which was a letdown for me. Overall, Castell Son Claret is a beautiful hotel with excellent restaurants, great service, a lovely spa and fantastic design. I would recommend it if you’re looking for a peaceful, secluded luxury escape in Mallorca. However, if having a well-equipped gym, easy access to the surrounding area, or a more polished arrival experience is important to you, there are some shortcomings to consider.

The hotel was lovely and very well maintained. The areas for breakfast and dinner were beautiful and the pool was lovely. We enjoyed both restaurants although the Michelin starred restaurant had a quite a long and complicated set menu so would not plan to eat there more than once. Everyone was asking to take dessert away! The bar was nice and the service from the bar manager and breakfast manager was excellent but this was in contrast to reception and some waiting staff.

The service was very mixed and this definitely affected our stay. The 'welcome' was cold and indifferent and we had to show ourselves around the hotel, ask about meal timings, spa facilities etc. When we asked reception staff to arrange a taxi to eat elsewhere one evening it was difficult to do and when it did not arrive, staff were not interested in helping or following up. There were a few very lovely staff, including the bar manager and a young porter who helped us with our luggage on the last day, but these stood out as overall the service was well below expectations for a hotel like this.

You would not expect that in a 5 star hotel Restaurant: apparently two stars - would not go there another time

The property was beautiful! It was a bit isolated, and there was nothing walkable, but it was absolutely breathtaking

I wish that there were shops and restaurants within walking distance. Everything involved driving.

The excellent staff and the breakfast was to die for. The building conversion and extension exhibit a lot of attention to detail.

Das gesamte Hotelkonzept ist großartig. Das Personal ist außerordentlich freundlich, hilfsbereit und zuvorkommend, jeder Wunsch wird erfüllt. Wir haben das Abendessen und Frühstück sehr genossen, lokale Produkte und feinste Zubereitung. Die Zimmer sind wunderschön großzügig eingerichtet, wie auch das gesamte Hotel, und blitzsauber.

Awful service, hair in food on two occasions, food very poor quality, apple juice costs the same as beer, over priced. It’s represented as 5 star luxury hotel but we got 3 star experience at very best. The he entire staff and hotel has a culture of poor customer experience and lack of follow up. Do not stay here it’s way over priced

Dinner was disappointing. My husband ordered steak and it was tough and full of gristle and he couldn’t eat it. Also I informed the hotel that it was my birthday and they didn’t acknowledge it at all.

Herrlich gelegenes, ruhiges Hotel

Top tier hotel. The property and grounds are beautiful. The service is attentive and responsive. Room was spacious and quiet. I would visit Mallorca again to stay at this hotel because it was so relaxing. The only "downside" is that there is not much of a town nearby so you either need to take a taxi or rent a car if you are interested in surrounding nearby areas.

Bien trop cher à notre goût. The service at dinner was slow. We was sat down and took 15 minutes for water, it took over an hour between our starter and mains.

We booked 2 rooms - 1 for the kids - and asked to be placed close together but ended up in completely different locations. We were very surprised that for a 'leading hotel' there was no night-time turn-down service.

We stayed for 6 nights at Castell Son Claret and were blown away by the beautiful surroundings and amazing service. From the moment you drive through the electric gates you are greeted with manicured gardens and view of the stunning period country house. The pool area overlooks the countryside with staff at hand to meet your every need and ensure you have a quality relaxing experience. This hotel is perfect for couples who want to unwind and recharge.

Great hotel. Fabulous setting bedside a national park and a small village. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Very peaceful place. Breakfast was excellent.

Beautiful property - wonderful sound of silence other than the crickets/insects humming. Incredible staff - so polite and helpful so 10/10 to them! Breakfast was wonderful and had no dairy milk plus the most delicious almond croissant they grow their own lemons and offer trails around the huge property. we have ever had. Some other observations; - hotel is 30-40 mins from Palma town and is very quiet. So not for a big group wanting to party hard I’d say. Perfect for chilling and romantic getaways - hot breakfast ordering little slow/confused so had to reorder and not always correct. - night 1 couldn’t work the AC - not sure if us or it but others in our groups struggled too. Perhaps an explanation is needed when showing us the room initially - no hot water in last morning hotel wide. One of those things with Spanish islands perhaps but a shame as really wanted one - the trails are on a map but no signs so you can’t really follow to easily. We gave up as only had an hour. - didn’t have a spa treatment as quite pricey but the indoor pool looked lovely Overall if I wanted a quieter getaway and happy to chill by the pool /play tennis then this is beautiful. The distance from Palma and beaches etc may make those more ad hic trips rather than daily excursions so something to think about depending on the type of trip you want and if you have a car or not.

This was our second time staying here, It’s a beautiful property and the gardens are gorgeous, The pool areas is nice and staff is also very friendly. Only price wise I don’t think it’s worth the money and we would definitely choose another hotel next time. They charge you for water at the pool, Although you pay just once and it is refillable, I do think it’s a bit “cheap” considering we paid almost €700 a night, Also prices for the minibar are too expensive, I noticed other people made this comments and management replied that they think it’s “ in line with a 5 star hotel and other hotels” but I don’t share this opinion. We had a room which was in the garden, Very beautiful but the room was a bit tired and “smelly” ( I think because it doesn’t get much day light ) Also a lot of bugs in the room, We kept the doors and windows closed but still we had 5 mosquitoes in the room, And several other bugs.. But well hello, That’s nature right? Overall beautiful place, But Mallorca has so many nice places. Food at the pool is good and prices are also reasonable, Also the cleaning staff gets an 11, The rooms are very clean which is very important for me.

At one night we had dinner in the restaurant Olivera, The sommelier was quite “pushy” from the start and we asked for the wine menu, He only showed bottles so we asked for the menu for wines by the glass as we weren’t feeling to have a whole bottle that night, He replied that they didn’t have a menu for wines by the glass and he said I have 2 options for you if you want red wine, So he named two wines and asked us to choose, It was a bit strange as I don’t like this, I want to see a menu and choose myself, Also do I want to see what I pay for what I order, I chose one of the two wines he gave as an option but I felt uncomfortable, So when he came with the glasses I told him I always want to know the price for what I order, He just looked at me and shrugged and didn’t reply and just walked away, It was extremely awkward and uncomfortable and that’s the reason why I don’t like this. Just make a wine list with wines by the glass instead of making it uncomfortable, Also now they could just choose what they were putting on the bill. Also the food was good but the portions are so small it’s ridiculous for that price point. The gym is to be honest not very good, They have some techno gym equipment but it’s not looking very “fancy” there are also no pictures almost to be found of the gym so I guess that’s the reason.

Exquisite hotel, decorated with impeccable taste, located on a beautiful site and managed by attentive, highly professional staff We had planned to stay three nights and extended for two additional nights because it was so restful and conveniently located A must if you are looking for an elegant retreat to recharge your batteries in style

We were recommended the hotel by friends and very much looked forward to the stay. The rooms are nice. Spa is also decent (Heidi and Clara are great).

Two things in particular were unsatisfactory: 1) Every so often, the hotel has a classical music/opera dinner, which is attended by outside guests although hotel guests are invited to attend. As a result, all the hotel facilities are shut down to cater for this event, including the hotel bars and restaurants, and guests are told that they can eat/drink in their rooms. We were only notified about this event after we had booked our stay. For those guests who do not wish to attend this event, it is extremely unfair to be confined to one’s room (we went out for dinner and returned at 10:30pm, where we were told that we had to go to our room). If the hotel continues hosting these events, we would strongly encourage it to think of hotel guests who are not attending the event. 2) On one of the days of our stay, there was an issue with the outdoor pool toilets; there was a smell of sewage and flooding of dirty water. Unfortunately I unknowingly walked in this water in my flip flops. When I alerted the pool staff, I was told that a maintenance guy had been alerted and that ‘this happens when 20m tourists visit the island each year’. Although I don’t dispute that this could happen anywhere, what was frustrating was that i) some of the staff knew about the issue and hadn’t closed the toilets and ii) certain staff demonstrated insensitivity towards guest concerns. Although worth clarifying that once this was raised with hotel management, a sincere apology was provided, as well as a complimentary massage. Some other small complaints; bedroom shower was hot and cold, not enough sun beds for guests at pool and pool decking is aged and out of step with rest of the hotel quality.

The property looks nothing like pictures ! And the stuff - the receptionists were so rude and they even tried to charge us twice for the same service , thinking we won’t see it in the receipt . It’s really spoiled the whole impression about Majorca , they really abused my trip and I hope no one goes through the same . 0 out 10 and - out of 10 for the service . Leading must know this hotel only leading to depression hotel , not leading hotel if the world !

Our stay was amazing and the staff was exceptional with their attention to detail. The only recommendation we have is to have a dinner menu that is more extensive including tapas or pállela.

Loved the secluded location, the pool and the courtyard where meals were served.

There is very little not to like. More vegetarian options at dinner would have been appreciated.
