The New Inn

We had a wonderful stay at The New Inn in Cerne Abbas. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. They were incredibly warm, friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience feel personal and relaxed. The rooms were wonderfully cozy, with a charming character that suited the atmosphere of the village perfectly. It was the kind of place where you immediately feel comfortable and can truly unwind after a day of exploring. The location is simply beautiful. Set in the heart of Cerne Abbas and surrounded by the stunning Dorset countryside, The New Inn is a fantastic base for enjoying the landscape, picturesque villages and peaceful atmosphere of the area. A lovely combination of traditional charm, comfortable rooms and genuinely welcoming people. We would happily stay here again

Lovely traditional pub in a beautiful historic village - perfect for a romantic overnight getaway. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and the kitchen is several cuts above the usual pub fare. Lovely room - very comfortable and peaceful. Onsite parking. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again next time we're in this (very pleasant!) part of the world.

Lovely property with a nice room and very friendly and helpful staff. Full English breakfast was substantial and delicious both mornings. Room was set up as a twin as requested, The beds were comfortable and the shower was good.

Location. Nice small, quiet village. Staff. Very friendly and helpful. Tastefully renovated and comfortable rooms Excellent breakfast and evening desserts. We didn't have dinner as we were still quite full from a lunch stopover on the way here. The meals served looked very nice. Nice private car park. Attention on parking as it is compact.

Not necessarily a dislike, but good to be aware. Due to heatwave, rooms were uncomfortably warm and fans only served to push warm air around and not ventilate. It should be noted though that these were period style buildings and apart from this point, very well renovated.

I did not find the bed very comfortable… perhaps too hard, and better pillows would have been welcome.

Zimmer sind neu hergerichtet und sehr schön gestaltet. Abendessen und Frühstück war sehr gut. Haben die Unterkunft von einem Bekannten empfohlen bekommen und die Entscheidung nicht bereut einen kurzen Abstecher in dieses schöne Örtchen zu machen.

The staff were great. We were brought fresh milk for our tea in the room as soon as we arrived and were given help with going to view the Cerne Abbas giant. The room was really comfortable and warm; the breakfast was excellent. All round a lovely stay and we’d definitely return there if in the area.

Everything about the New Inn was fantastic the staff were amazing! Couldn’t do enough for you, the fresh milk in the fridge on entry to the rooms was a great touch! The inside and outside eating facilities were amazing! Decor was amazing! A wonderful hidden gem in the countryside!

Great location for wedding at Minterne House, lovely staff, great welcome and lovely food.

Beautiful 16th century coaching inn with so much history in and around it. The room we were in was a deluxe double and it was well set out and was very comfortable. We had breakfast with our booking and it was excellent local fare. So was the dinner the night of our stay with local produce cooked to perfection. Cerne Abbas and the surrounding village is gorgeous too with many historic sights.

Food in the restaurant was excellent, great cooking, well presented and good value. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Staff were exceptional.

Parking was a little trick depending on time of day

As base for sightseeing a visit it couldn't be more perfect. Parking space is always a boon and the breakfast (included in the deal) really was top tier. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Beer is supplied by a local brewery and the IPA was very good, possibly too good... There are also two other pubs within throwing distance, which is handy if there is a function on as there was when I visited, but the staff were most accommodating and perfectly friendly despite being extra busy.

Lighting in the room not bright enough to see to do make-up. Because the bathroom was set for differently able people the shower was a bit low and came out at an angle rather than falling vertically.

New Inn was fantastic from start to finish. Breakfast, dinner, drinks all delicious, and we were made to feel very welcome. Comfy room in a lovely part of the World.

Die Zimmer des alten Gasthauses sind in einem Nebengebäude ebenerdig untergebracht. Man muss kein Gepäck schleppen. Die Atmosphäre im Pub ist außerordentlich. Das Essen ist sehr schmackhaft.

Direkt vor der Zimmertür verläuft ein Fußgängerpfad, das ist etwas gewöhnumgsbedürftig.

The breakfast is superb, with an excellent choice of cooked dishes, plus superb pastries. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. .

This is a little gem .. one of the best places we've stayed in for a long time .. exceptional value and the food is superb. Staff are just wonderful and go above and beyond ! We are already planning our next visit .

Kein Negativpunkt für uns, aber man sollte wissen, dass die Zimmer ebenerdig direkt am Biergarten liegen. Wasserdruck der Dusche etwas gering, aber es sind natürlich auch alte Gebäude.

Beautiful apartment to stay in with lovely welcoming touches. The food in the restaurant was of a really high quality and all team members were friendly and welcoming.

The breakfast was very tasty and filling, all ingredients were to a high standard and locally sourced. The room we had was 'Piddle' and was kept to a very high standard of cleanliness, roomy, extremely comfortable and we slept like logs. The location was superb in a very quintessential village. The locals in the village were all very endearing and knowledgeable. The 'corner' shop was like walking into a time warp of times past with a vast supply of goodies. We will be back sometime in the near future again.

There was nothing not to like. We enjoyed every moment of our stay, one night wasn't long enough to fully take in the beautiful surroundings.

The New Inn is exceptional. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, the food is very tasty, the room we had (Tadnoll) was spacious, clean and very well appointed and the bed was extremely comfortable. The prices felt rather high, but they were probably justified by the comfort and the imagination of the arrangements. This property is hard to fault.

The bathroom extractor fan was not strong enough to prevent all the mirrors misting over quite dramatically and a second chair would be appropriate in a room for the disabled, but otherwise there was very little to detract from the property’s good points.

I've wanted to stay here for a while now, and I'm glad we have. We loved the style of Wrackle, beautiful. The shower was the best we'd ever used! The attention to detail in the room was perfect. The bed was comfortable. The seating area was useful and welcome. There was fresh milk available in the little fridge outside the room, which is shared with the upstairs room/s. The breakfast on our first morning was amazing. We had the choice from the menu and also a continental buffet. Well worth the price, although we had to ask for our toast, which came out when we were literally eating the last bite of our breakfasts. This is such a lovely village, an idyllic location, we come every year to visit relatives so know it quite well now.

There wasn't enough privacy as the room looked out onto the road and could have done with the bottom half being total privacy glass due to the fact that you had to close the curtains to get dressed etc which meant using artificial light. I personally prefer natural light. There is a large frame around the bed, which we both ended up hurting our legs on. We were covered in bruises. The door closer didn't work, so banged very loudly all the time. The breakfast on our second morning was lacking the buffet. I asked and was told that they only provide it when the hotel is full. I feel that this hotel is trying too hard to be more than it is, and it really doesn't need to. It's a 3 star hotel, a historic pub with rooms and it's beautiful. It just needs to concentrate on making what it already has perfect for guests, not trying to be too pretentious or up market.
