The room looked to have recently been decorated and everything new. Breakfast was nice also and the view from the restaurant was lovely.

No complimentary shower gel or shampoo/conditioner. Did not get a room with a view, despite been told this was the case.

We loved the rural location. The staff were extremely welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The bedroom and bathroom were modern and lovely and clean with plenty of room to move around and the bed and pillows were super comfy. We both had an excellent night's sleep. We had a meal and drinks on the evening of our arrival which was very good value for money. The breakfast the next morning was very good and there was plenty of it. We were surprised at the amount of traffic that passed The Gunn, it is on quite a busy road, but the double glazing is superb and knocks out all of the traffic noise. We would definitely stay again.

We loved everything about the place. This is our second visit. The staff make a great effort to ensure everyone has a wonderful stay, the place is very clean, the rooms are well decorated and the beds are very comfortable. The food is delicious, definitely try the haggis & black pudding bon bons, and the Beef Stew 😋. The views from the pub garden and dining room are stunning. Close enough to visit Corbridge and Hexham.

Our room was really fab! The bed was so comfortable and cosy! Bathroom was lovely, shower great! All the staff we came across were really great. The food was great, also breakfast, both plentiful. What a stunning location, we just sat looking at it, enjoying a few drinkies! .

Stairs from accommodation to bar area, at the bottom was very awkward with 2 doors to negotiate. Not easy for those of us of a certain age, particularly when handling luggage as well. (Although staff did assist us).

De locatie was geweldig! De B&B was voortreffelijk met de gezelligheid van een Engelse pub, netjes en schoon! De eigenaren/personeel was aller vriendelijkst. En het eten was ook nog een heerlijk! Kortom alles was TOP!

The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were in Room 1 which is a great size. The room and en-suite bathroom were lovely. We found the bed and pillows very comfortable. I like a big mirror with a plug beside it - a lot of hotels don't have this! Tea, coffee, biscuits and big mugs were great. Fabulous views. Proper coffee machine in the bar for cappuccinos and lattes.

My scampi and chips for dinner were great - a good sized portion and piping hot, but my husband's steak was poor. Lots of grizzle and not cooked as he had asked for. The mushrooms were overpowered by the herbs and the pepper sauce was one big blob in a jug - floury and claggy.

Fantastic clean room. Breakfast was really nice, with really good quality products. Couldn’t have asked for more.

The location & the views of the open countryside. Reasonable prices for a very good quality (and quantity!!) of food. We arrived a little early but we were accommodated without hesitation. The staff were all brilliant.

Friendly community pub with comfortable clean rooms, great staff and good food. Great breakfasts and car parking. A little off the beaten track but good location for Hadrians walk, Hexham, Vindolanda and Roman forts. Beautiful view from the dining room. All in all a great stay.

Couldn’t really find fault. If I was being super picky the shower could be a little hotter but this didn’t spoil our stay and we will definitely be back.

The barmaid was so nice upon arrival..really friendly. That was the young dark haired one. The. Later when we had tea the older lady was absolutely lush. We really enjoyed chatting with her about her family etc .I'm so sorry I can't recall either names. But you will know who you are. Big shout out to the local couple who sat at the bar all night and we played guess the year game about all the tunes belting out of Alexa. We loved our stay and will definitely return! We did miss breakfast as the clocks went forward an hour but we just know it would have been nice . Great drinks selection. Probably the best place we've stayed and we have stayed at loads of random village b and b's.

Location was great- we visited Hadrians wall and Hexam the next day and both were within a reasonable distance. Also had been at Keilder forest the day we arrived which was also not too far away. Food was good, the rooms were very impressive and a very good size compared to the pub we stayed in the previous night

The heating controls in the room weren’t set properly

The stay was exceptional with no issues whatsoever. The pub downstairs was very welcoming. The evening meal and breakfast was excellent. The hosts that served us for both meals were very friendly. The room was clean, comfortable and warm with good amenities such as; kettle, tea and coffee. We both slept very well. Parking was to the rear and very easy to find of the main road.

I stayed here with my husband this New Years Eve. We had a lovely time! Everyone was super friendly, we had a meal on the evening and it was incredible! The breakfast also delicious. Rooms were spotless, lovely and spacious and warm. We had a lovely time and would definitely return! Shout out to the lovely lady who made me a fab hot chocolate on the evening!

Not the first time we've been to The Gun & it certainly won't be the last. The staff as always are very friendly & helpful. The room is spotless & the bed is just so comfortable. The food is absolutely tremendous & if you can, definitely try the Cajun prawns.😁

This is one of the friendliest places I have stayed. All the staff were as accommodating as they could be. The room I had was modern and in faultless decoratiove condition. Everything was clean and fresh. The breakfast was freshly cooked and faultless and also hearty. The evening menu was unpretentious and as a result perfectly cooked. (Having said 'unpretentious' for desert they came up with a homemade strawberry cheesecake that would not have been out of place at a restaurant charging three times as much.)

On arrival the staff member who met us was friendly and helpful. The room was first rate; clean, tidy and welcoming. Dinner exceeded our expectations - we both had the lamb stew - which proved to be exactly what we wanted after a few days of restaurant dining in Edinburgh. A delicious breakfast was served by an equally friendly and cheerful member of staff. The Gun was a brilliant place to stay and provided the ideal place to rest and recuperate before heading back to Cornwall.

Some of the fixtures and fittings were starting to show signs of wear, but these did not detract from the most enjoyable, welcoming and friendly experience overall.

Breakfast and evening meals were excellent with great caring service. Staff were lovely and proud of their place. Quite rightly. Community pub saved from the hands of developers. Made for the best experience. Unfortunately a car problem meant I couldn’t do what I wanted to in the area but staff were really sympathetic and helpful
