It was good value for money. Could have been a little better service and smiles. But the stay was great, could easily have come back to this place
Perfect location for what we needed. We stayed in a sea view family room which was two interconnected rooms with balcony. Hotel was not busy and the pool was quiet and refreshing. 10 minute walk into centre but we took the 15 minute scenic route down to the bay and Along the seafront. Staff super friendly and helpful. Would return and highly recommend. Thanks to all that made our stay very enjoyable.
Pros: Jist outside of main area so parking available. Good sea views and a small balcony to sit out in main building. Air con. Staff try to help best they can. Bungalow buildings have larger balconies but rooms same size as sea view rooms. 10 minute walk slightly downhill into main town. Cold shower and toilet available next to pool for late leavers. Cons: Small rooms needing tlc. Bathrooms tiny with shower curtain very close to toilet that cannot be moved / set to side. Fridge iced up and too compact for anything substantial. Mattress lumpy with one pillow each. Pillowcases missing from spare pillows. Air con leaking onto only desk/ table in room. Limited storage space for clothes. 2 towels in room for 2 people. No handrails on higher floors stairwells. Stairs / flooring inside marble tiled. Pool tiles dirty and pool floor painted which rubbed off on feet. No pool towels - sun loungers material worn through and tatty. Toilet / shower by pool door does not lock. Paid more for bottled beer in hotel than in chic town centre. If paying card then have to pay at reception as only have one card reader machine. Cash preferred but no cash kept in til so have to go to reception to pay. Cannot consume own products at hotel unless in room despite being room only and no cooking facilities. Paid more here than I would have liked considering all of the above.
Very friendly and helpful staff, nice breakfast with hot and cold options, pool is nice, limited parking, 10-15 min walk to town. Property is older, rooms small and average quality.
Luckily we were there for only one night. Older hotel- pictures don’t match. Minimal. Nice people but the manager smoked in her office which made the reception area smell. Good parking. Blood stained pillow. Bed hard. Water in shower slow drain. Chairs on the small balcony was one of the worse chairs I’ve sat in. Convenient restaurant & bar there though we didn’t eat there. View from the balcony 2nd best part
Hotellet var fint og personalet var veldig hyggelige. Hvis man leier bil er det enkelt å parkere utenfor hotellet. Det tar 15 min å gå til sentrum.
Hotel was friendly and welcoming. A few issues with insects but were dealt with straight away. Big clean pool and spacious rooms
Too expensive for what your got. Beds are HORRIBLE. Hard, like sleeping on a boxspring. Rooms are minimal. We didn’t even have a blanket. We had a bed spread which only covered half the bed. The toilette seat cover would fall down constantly when your going to the bathroom so either you had to hold it up if your were a man standing or it leaned against your back . The pool is a saltwater pool and not chlorine, which is nice, but you had to pay $2 for a pool towel which seems ridiculous when your paying to stay at a place with a pool. The breakfast was huge. Pastries, fruit, meats, cheeses, cereals, eggs, juices, etc…
It's not a safe place: the front door and the main door remain open during the nights, even when the personnel is gone. And an unknow woman came into our room at 7AM when we were sleeping! Unacceptable. No enough parking slots for all customers Pool is nice. Also the room. No elevator (3 floors). Breakfast, nothing special.
A bit tired. Small bathroom and bedroom, balcony looks over the generous pool, buffet breakfast was passable. No lift - our room was on top floor. Good spot to visit Spinalonga leper island by boat. Good restaurant selections in Elounda but you need to drive there from the hotel.
Very clean. Very friendly staff. Nice room. Out of the way location requiring auto or lengthy walks. Breakfast choices poor. Probably worst of our month long trip.
Exceptionally special experience.
Very accommodating staff.
The service was fantastic, but the bathroom was rundown; the shower leaked water all over the floor, and you couldn’t close the door without either stepping into the shower or stubbing your toes. Worst of all, I cannot overstate how awful the beds are. You might as well sleep on the floor because the springs in the mattress were stabbing us all night. There was absolutely no way to get comfortable. For the life of me, I cannot understand why the hotel would subject their guests to such beds. I have no doubt that you could find more comfortable beds in a prison cell — even an inflatable pool raft would be preferable to these. I don’t know how this hotel has such good reviews — if they renovated the bathrooms and got even semi-decent mattresses, it would be alright, but we were sorely tempted to check out after the first night because of the beds.
We had a nice one night stay as we were in Elounda to try out some restaurants and a boat trip. The Krini was an ok option, very reasonably priced and they provided us with a family area which was 2 rooms which shared a private corridor which was great. We never used the facilities or ate at the hotel so I can’t comment on those but they looked ok.
We were welcomed very warmly, perfect hotel for our needs!
Extremely clean hotel , tables constantly wiped, rooms immaculately clean, makes you very confident that everyone is doing their utmost to keep COVID safe. Breakfast was table service in open air , Staff went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay
Welcoming and professional staff. Pool was a hit with the kids. Breakfast delicious
Clean, inexpensive (considering the area), and comfortable hotel with basic amenities. Perfect for the one night stay we were seeking..front desk was kind and welcoming. Basic but adequate included breakfast. Very little on site parking.
It felt like a very relaxed hotel , I can’t fault any of the staff , they were all very helpful, kind , nothing was too much trouble. The pool was cleaner every morning , pool towels are available. Plenty of food choice at breakfast time. Room was cleaned everyday. Wonderful hotel , Thankyou Kristina & all the staff.
The only issue I had was that the hotel was in Elounda not Agios Nikolaos despite the expedia app telling me the hotel was "in the heart of Agios Nikolaos" and showing a picture of the famous lagoon in Agios Nikolas. The hotel was on the outskirts of a different town (Elounda) about 6-7 kilometres away and although the town was beautiful and perfectly fine for our holiday it was not where I had been led to believe I had booked.
Staff were so helpful. Had a late check out for free, leaving gift and a farewell drink from the bar. Aircon, safe and fridge provided free of charge. So peaceful and loved Elounda.
The staff were very friendly and exceptionally helpful. When our air conditioning stopped working they moved us to a better room for the remainder of our holiday. It was nice area around the swimming pool. The air conditioning stopped working during the night but we were moved to another room. The swimming pool was cleaned very much from leaves and the sun loungers were not very clean but would still recommend this hotel to others
We arrived late and the staff were friendly and helpful and we found a bowl of fruit and a bottle of wine in our room. In the morning we found the beautiful outdoor pool area. Breakfast or swim? And in which order? It was slightly out of the centre of town which we liked because it is quieter. We also had a hire car and there was parking within the hotel which made life simpler. We loved it. Our kids loved it. We'd like to have stayed longer.
Very friendly staff , clean rooms excellent service!!!
The staff especially Maria were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble and always done with a smile. Location isn't too bad just 15 minute walk from town. Rooms are of a good standard, a few little minor issues like plug in wash basin didn't work as it should but they are minor things. Overall well worth a visit.
Would highly recommend this hotel. Staff were amazing and always there with ideas and suggestions.
Charming and peaceful hotel. Short walk down into the town, lovely hosts. Fruit and wine on arrival is a lovely touch. Thankyou!
We booked this hotel based on good reviews and we ended up being disappointed by how over rated it is. The room (sea view) was at most 2 stars hotel standard. Cheaply decorated , old and noisy air con , super noisy bathroom vent , and electrical board in the room that was old and noisy too. We couldn’t sleep at night because of the noise and the uncomfortable bed. Other wise, the lobby and the swimming pool are very nice and inviting . The breakfast was good and the people who work there are lovely and professional . Just the bed room was the worst in our trip to Crete and one of the most pricy ones
Nice place, friendly staff, nice breakfasts. On the bus route. very convenient
The Krini was just what we were looking for. It was beautifully kept and stylish. Rooms were immaculate and staff friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend.
Really enjoyed our stay in this hotel - it’s in a great quiet location, with easy access to excellent restaurants and beautiful views. It’s a small hotel which generally attracts couples, so the poolside was quiet and relaxing. Some nice beaches around - Elounda and Plaka were pretty good but we also hired a car to check out some other beaches and explore. The staff made our stay great! Very welcoming and always happy to help :) Agios Nikolaos is 15min drive away, but we only went there once because we were so happy in Elounda.
Thoroughly enjoyable -greeted with a bottle of wine and bottle of water in fridge. Towels and sheets changed regularly during 10 night stay. Daily unobtrusive housekeeping. Good breakfast including buffet and individually cooked. Given a leaving present also
A small, friendly family hotel. Christina the receptionist was warm and welcoming. Our room and bed were very comfortable. A lovely touch was the bottle of wine and water in the fridge plus a plate of fruit. The staff were calm and efficient, the food was abundant, home-cooked and tasty. On checkout we were presented with yet another gift, a bottle of olive oil, packet of Cretan herbs and a bar of lemon soap. Very generous and quite unexpected. All in all, a most surprising gem of a hotel with excellent hospitality.
Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Everything from the spotless rooms, superb views and fantastic staff exceeded expectations. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome .Absolutely lovely , will definitely be back.
What an eye-opener! Cretan hospitality is legendary, but the Krini staff go above and beyond. From the arrival present of chilled wine and fruit, to the departure present of local produce, nothing was too much trouble for them. Christine on front of house was so kind, even when we changed our minds, several times over! She organised trips, car hire and so much more. The breakfast was the very best of Cretan food - fresh, local, traditional, plentiful, but with European options too, and as much as you could eat, which was a lot in our case! The position of the hotel was lovely, great views of Elounda bay, Spinalonga, Olous and the surrounding mountains and just a short walk down to Elounda village for tavernas, shops, boat trips etc. We were close enough to get where we wanted, without being in the middle of everything, The hotel rooms are small but adequate, clean, fresh, lovely balcony, fridge!!!, coffee and tea making, toiletries, plentiful towels and even a personal safe. We were also given beach towels for the hotel pool, where we chose to spend quite some time lounging in the sun, often with free taster drinks brought round by the bar staff. I already love Crete, but the Krini made for an exceptional week for myself and my daughter and far exceeded her expectations. We would highly recommend it as a package or self-book and would happily go back if we could.
‘The reception and cleanliness of the hotel was excellent. Breakfast was plentiful and very good. Our bed was very uncomfortable and they were very apologetic and assured us that it would be checked into, which I don’t question. We only stayed 1 night as were passing through. )
Great value for money, clean rooms, pleasent decor, friendly staff.
Great value for money, clean and friendly
Great hotel where NOTHING was too much trouble. At first I thought the location was too far out of town and reviewed it as such. This view was unfair as I had only been at the hotel one day and was asked for first impressions. In actual fact the location is ideal, far enough away from the hub bub but a short stroll along the water edge to get to all the waterside restaurants..at most a 10min walk and my husband is a VERY slow and reluctant walker! Lovely family run taverna just beside the hotel, great family restaurant just a moment away on the road opposite and also a bakery that makes sandwiches to take away or eat in. Elounda itself is the best location in Crete. We had a wonderful week there. Thank you Krini.
The hotel is located just outside Elounda in a perfect location. We encountered extremely friendly and efficient staff who really wanted to make our stay an enjoyable one. It is very clean all round and obvious that they owners take a pride in keeping high standards. breakfast was varied and plentiful. Upper floor rooms had fantastic views across the bay and to the surrounding hills. The pool area is very relaxing with plenty of sunbeds and sun or shady positions. It was also interesting to note that many guests we spoke to all said that they would return. We certainly shall!.
The extra touches this hotel provides -- the welcome fruit & wine on arrival & a local gift as you leave -- make this a truly special small hotel. It's within walking distance of all the local facilities. A very special find.
Lovely hotel, staff super friendly & helpful and hotel/pool very clean. Great location 5-10mins from main streets & 15mins to port. Elounda a great place very chilled, lots of great restaurants.
The hotel was well maintained with very friendly staff. Beaches were only a short walk with some good snorkeling opportunities and whilst the town centre was a bit further, this was still a comfortable walking distance along the water front. The hotel was well equipped for both families and couples. Agios Nikolaos was only a short bus or taxi journey away.
Shower is not up to standard . Even when I brought to their attention they couldn't fix it and looks like just roughing was done .
Fantastic trip. Hotel 15 minutes walk into the centre, lovely harbour walk! No complaints with the hotel at all. They go above and beyond.
Great location, lovely hotel with great staff. Make sure you do the breakfast included option. Food available throughout the day either in the small restaurant or poolside. Pool is a decent size and has lots of loungers with straw umbrellas. Short walk to a couple of local beaches with the main beach about 15-20 minute walk into the centre of Elounda or a short drive. Loads of restaurants and bars in town - go to Babel for drinks and snacks, especially crepes, and the pool table in the back. Eat dinner at Olondi and Lotus Eaters on the harbourside in town and Melissos on the front near the hotel - go easy on the free raki after dinner at all three of these - plus Thea restaurant which is just two minutes walk on the road into town from the hotel. Getting the boat to the old fortress and leper colony on Spinalonga is a must - €10 for the boat from the centre of town plus €8 admission once you get to the island for adults, under 12s €5 on the boat and under 18s are free on the island. Agios Nikolaus is a short drive south from the hotel. Other sights including Knossos are easily driven to.
My family ( 2 adults, 1 teenager (18) and 1 child (12) have just returned from a fortnight's holiday at this hotel. Small hotel with excellent service from staff. Rooms really clean and towels changed daily. Fridge and tea and coffee making facilities in room along with glasses. However no cooking facilities, crockery or cutlery as not self catering apartments. Just to be aware of that. Hotel about 15 min walk from centre of Elounda so we were glad that we upgraded to breakfast option. Pool quite small and perhaps not really anything to occupy a 12 year old as no pool table or other activities but we knew that when we booked.Breakfast great. Loads of choice. Snacks and drinks available all day. Kristina at reception really friendly and helpful as were all other staff. We would definitely return.
The staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them. Ignateous and Helen were particularly helpful. Pool and all facilities were always clean and the food was good too. We stayed half board - the selection of evening meal was a little limited. Overall a great hotel and would stay there again
The hotel is perfect. The staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Plenty of choice for breakfast and there are bars and restaurants within a 10 minute walk. Highly recommended.
We stayed here for a night after we flew in late, before going to a luxury hotel for the rest of our trip. The staff were very pleasant and the room was comfortable (although the bathroom was a bit small - we did only pay for the "basic room" though, so hardly surprising!). The hotel was clean and tidy and the breakfast was good, with a wide variety.
Everything about the hotel was a lot more than I expected: delicious breakfast, superb view and -since I am not much of a swimming-person-, I literally LOVED having dinner by the pool: the best way to finish a full day! Of course everyone was super-friendly and helpful adding extra points to an already excellent hotel experience. Highly recommended for a long-stay, I regret not having discovered this facility earlier.
In my opinion The Krini Hotel gives you 5star service! We booked a room with sea views we were not disappointed, the view (just breathtaking) as for the room very clean and comfortable pleasantly surprised how large the room was with an excellent ensuite with a super powerful shower just to my liking! The restaurant provides eating inside or out by the pool ( by the pool every time) try the scrambled eggs just amazing. Christina and her staff cannot do enough for you they make you feel at home wonderful stuff. If your going to Elounda I can't recommend the krini enough if you want a real and relaxing holiday enjoy
Great little place with friendly staff. Excellent breakfast, snacks and evening meal if you don't fancy going out. Close to all the bars and restaurants in Eloúnda and only a short walk to the beach. Beautiful views. Rooms clean and very comfortable beds. Bathroom small but got everything you need and a good shower.
Krini is the hidden oasis of Elounda. The apartment and pool area were spotlessly clean and modern. Our room was cleaned every day, but this was brilliantly timed as we were never disturbed.Christina and her team couldn't have been more friendly and helpful during our stay. We would definitely recommend it and we are looking forward to visiting back our hidden gem.
We really enjoyed our short vacation here. Our room, with lovely terrace overlooking an olive grove the see and Spinalonga, was very comfortable and spacious.
Excellent hotel - the only criticism would be and its not the hotels fault - in October the sun is not so high in the sky so pool did not warm up. The sea however was warm!
High grade taste in a modern aesthetic setting, excellent view in a stunning landscape whichever direction you are looking, everything works in perfect order, convenient walking distance to town centre (10 m easy walk) and 4 different beaches though located at the outskirts, comfortable swimming pool, excellent service from a polite, smiling and ultra-effective staff, high quality home-cooked cuisine upon request, good filling breakfasts with fresh local products, nice atmosphere among customers who want to chat and socialize a bit, relatively spacious lounge areas. In the midst of an olive grove, close to the picturesque fishing town of Plaka with one-of-a-kind world-famous never-to-miss fortress island of Spinalonga (8 m drive). Easily arranged trips to lovely central town of Aghios Nikolaos (10 m drive) and a good depot for organizing exploring sites and important historic spots of Eastern Crete.
Plenty parking space, very helpful and smilling stuff, comfortable room with coffee/ tea tray(unique for the Greek standards), extremely comfortable beds, very good free wi fi and amazingly clean! In walking distance from the village center and the beach. Great breakfast!
I had the joy and luck to make a reservation at this wonderful xrnodocheio! my choice is based mainly on that I wanted a quiet friendly environment so that we can be glad the real beauty of this unique place! From the first moment the sweetest Christina greeted with the warmest smile and the most cordial service! the rooms Fantastic, scrupulously clean, the personnel beyond the appropriate very friendly, the food simply wonderful! You have the opportunity to taste the real Cretan hospitality with a more modern touch of her! recommend it even harder to suspicious customers! Believe me you will enjoy your stay and will look forward when going back!
It was a perfect stay again. I've been here the third time and I will come again. The staff is so friendly and it Comes from there heart. There are a couple of Things, which bedame better since last year (I couldn't belive, that this is possible :-)). The new coffee machine at the breakfast buffet - perfect coffee!!!! Breakfast buffet with more selection. New bath rooms. Water temperature at the pool perfect. Not to warm, not to cold!!!!!
great stay, good value for money, easy parking
The hotel which is family run was great. Nothing was too much trouble and the breakfast was cooked to order. We would not hesitate to stay there again. To all the staff thanks for a wonderful stay.
Hotel was very easy to find and very convenient for Plaka, Elounda village and Ag Nik.The staff were really lovely, exceptionally helpful.
Very good experience. The poeple were caring and very nice. The place is clean and comfortable.
We stayed for our final week after visiting 3 other places with higher rates hotels, this why by far the best out of them all. We stayed in a family suite with a sea view . Basically it was 2 seperate rooms, linked each with its own bathroom, fridge and balcony. Perfect for us with 2 teenage kids. Staff were impeccable, breakfast great with lots of choice of hot food also and everything was perfect, would highly recommend and would stay again.
A brief stopover on our journey from West Crete and was relatively pleased. Very relaxed atmosphere, sometimes a little unnervingly quiet though. Bed was a little lumpy but other than that relatively impressed. Good service throughout the stay with little touches here and there.
We had a great time at Hotel krini. Kristina and the staff made us feel very welcome. They were very helpful. Service was great.
Hotel room very small. No tiles in the bathroom - just concrete. Very loud road noise from the pool and room. Views not very good.
Christina and the hotel staff were very obliging and friendly. The hotel was in a great location, about a 10 minute walk to the centre of town by the sea. The only negative was the bathroom which was pretty small. We had a great stay and would return.
Stayed for one night, the staff was lovely and helpful, the room was clean, and breakfast was Ok
Our stay at the Elouna Krini was superb. A warm welcome at check-in with a complimentary bottle of Greek wine in the fridge set the tone for the week. All members of staff were friendly and helpful and between them speak numerous languages to cater for nearly all guests! The room was beautiful - simple but elegant with beautiful views across the bay. There was a good selection of breakfast options available. The Krini is a little walk out of the main town, however we found this to be a good thing - it was peaceful and relaxing. There is a path into the town as well as a walk on the main road. The main beach is a 15-20 minute walk away, but there are plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants to stop at on the way. Overall, I would highly recommend a stay at the Krini and would return without hesitation. We did pay a little extra for a room with a sea view and it was certainly worth it.
Good location about 5-10 minutes walk from Elounda with nice good sized pool. Main gripe is the bathroom - shower is tiny - impossible to use without touching the curtain and water gets all over the floor every time it's used. Thankfully the room is cleaned every day. Sink is virtually unsable as it is very narrow and the shelf above it obstructs access. Despite this still worth the price.
This hotel was a real gem, with super-friendly & accommodating staff and finely finished rooms. I'm assuming that because our stay was during the low-season, we were offered a complimentary bottle of wine and plate of fresh local fruit; we enjoyed these on our balcony that overlooked the beautiful landscape - the highlight of the trip. The hotel was a ten-minute walk from the main part of Elounda, which we didn't mind. We travelled around Crete by bus, so it was additionally convenient to find that there was a bus stop just outside the hotel.
Nice rooms, lovely view from Balcony and good pool area. Welcome fruit and bottle of wine was a lovely touch. No English literature in rooms, seemed to cater only for the Russian Tour Operator. Bathroom very small with useless shower curtain but adequate for short stay.
