We loved the experience of the traditional breakfast and we tried most dishes. Loved wearing the yukata and the whole experience.

Reviewed Jul 6, 2026Location was excellent, a short walking distance to Konpira where all the shops and temples were. The entire staff was excellent. Most were non-Japanese, multi-lingual, spoke,Japanese and English fluently and were extremely friendly, personable, respectful and attentive. I had a rental car so the ample parking that they had was very helpful. The gardens on the premises were beautiful and although I was not in the season to see the Azaleas, I can tell that they would be awesome in season. I enjoyed walking through the mountain path that leads from the hotel to Konpira. The hotel was large and the rooms were very comfortable and clean.

The front desk staff were exceptionally helpful—one young lady with glasses even ran to our room to help resolve a taxi issue when transportation options were limited. Service like that was truly appreciated. Transportation in the area can be a bit tricky, so it's worth planning ahead.

Ce Ryokan est superbe, niché dans la montagne, on y trouve de vieux cottages style japonais qui donnent sur un jardin magnifiquement entretenu. Les inclusions de la chambre sont remarquables ! Boissons froides, chaudes (thé et café), verres de vin pétillants de bienvenue, séance de Onsen privative et de multiples attentions. Un établissement incroyable !

Reviewed Apr 24, 2026Un ryokan qui a un peu le charme de l'ancien même si rénové. Labyrinthique car très grand, il offre de beaux bains et sauna, prépare de très bons kaiseki. Les herons nichent dans les arbres en face. Le Konpira-san est à 5 minutes à pied.
La ville elle-même n'a pas de charme, hormis le complexe sacré.

浴室内に錆びたくぎが一本落ちてた（恐らく露天風呂かの板材を止めていた釘が外れたものかと思うが）ので、安全配慮にはくれぐれも気を付けて下さい。 浴室はチョットした突起物等がけがの原因となります。 勝手ながら脱衣室内のトイレからトイレットペーパーを少し頂き、それで釘を包んでゴミ箱に捨てさせていただきました。 ただ、こういう事は絶対にゼロには出来ないので、花壇のお客様はクレームを言う前に進んで対処してくれるお客様で溢れることをお祈りします。

Reviewed Mar 6, 2026Kotohira Kadan has a lot of potential. It has a good bath and sprawling location with good views (for those who have rooms overlooking the valley). The special single bunglows looked great as well.
I thought the service was inconsistent. There were moments that were reminiscent of a high-end ryokan and others that seemed completely out of place. It seems like there were a lot of staff who were in process of training or something. I appreciate their effort but it is noticeable that they're training / junior staff.

お部屋の照明を落としてあり、とても落ち着くのですが、字を見たり化粧をしたりするために一箇所だけで良いので明るくなる箇所があればありがたかったです。

Reviewed Feb 13, 2026아침식사 매우 좋았습니다. 직원 분들도 친절 그 자체였고요. 온천 물은 붓쇼잔이 훨씬 나았던 것 같습니다. 셔틀을 타야 되는 게 약간은 불편해요. 그리고 셔틀을 전화로 요청해야 하는 것도 조금은 불편합니다(메일을 보낼 거면 좀 여유 있게 보내는 게 좋습니다. 방문 전날이라던지). 날이 좋으면 걸어갈 만한 거리인 것 같습니다. 추운 겨울날은 셔틀 필수!

Reviewed Jan 21, 2026We received the shuttle service to and from the Hotel. Grounds, and buildings were excellent. Well heated, but not stifling. There was a very comfortable lounge that was ideal for relaxing. Bedding was futons, made with a flourish by the night staff. We had the outdoor private onsen, which was absolutely superb. The breakfasts of a morning were sublime; some of the nicest we have ever had in Japan.
