Pros: Beautiful quiet and relaxing resort, very clean, 3 pools including a children’s pool. Cons: Far from everything, the road to the hotel is a dirt road that’s very bumpy, beach is not swimmable.

Great resort we loved our stay!

You have to remember this is an underdeveloped area. It’s quiet, uncrowded, with an awesome restaurant ( Ernesto), and beautiful view. Serene, surrounded by mango groves, cattle farms. But you can’t bathe in the ocean ( currents too strong), can’t go anywhere in town unless you spend 50$ for 25 min back and forth trip.

Beautiful property. We stay here from time to time. It is secluded. 6 or7 miles of dirt road to get there.

It was a great place. They have different activities and amenities (yoga, exercises, gym). The food was great. Awesome customer service. A really great place to stay with family.

My stay at the Vivo Resort was amazing, the only slight inconvenience was the road to get there was a bit confusing and a little bumpy. However overall the staff was very friendly, the food was quite delicious, the rooms are amazingly beautiful and clean, the private beach was very calming and gorgeous, and I felt very safe during my time there.

This property is an area that has no developed road. It is hard on a compact rental car to get to it. No wifi available even though they state that they have. It’s nice in the sense that it’s right on the beach. But the beach is not a swimmable one. The waves are too strong. In addition, they overcharge at checkout then state it’s a WiFi issue. But to not worry it’ll resolve. Nope. Months out and they refuse to return the $300 overcharge unless I give them bank information despite having paid with a credit card and asking them to please return it, the same way they charged it. Service was horrible. Would not recommend to fellow travelers.

The resort is really nice, but it is in the middle of nowhere with a 25 minute drive to get to town, and half of that drive is on a dirt road. The wi fi was terrible, and the cell service was also terrible. The food was excellent in the one restaurant, and less expensive than most resorts.

It was away from other places to eat...or walk.

Simply stated: this property is very peaceful in a beautiful setting. We had the 3 bedroom palapa room, which was nice. We had 3 kids, 10,11,13 yrs. The blinds were in need of replacement, the palapa was in need of daily cleaning, but overall the room was comfortable & had what you needed. Bring boxed food, it helps. You can order groceries and have them brought to you at the resort. There’s a small store on site. Restaurant is good, but limited and does not change daily. The pools are nice, lots of chairs in the off season. The beach is serene and beautiful. The hotel location is amazing, especially if you enjoy less populated. With the visit.

Good in general, there was a power outage and we did not have energy one day and internet did not work during the week we were there.

Hotel is nice, Rooms are more like condos with kitchen. Hotel is quiet and far from downtown. Bad road from the main street to the entrance of the hotel is long and pretty bad. Hotel is good. Food was good.

Property is nice. Pools and everything clean and good. Service is ok. The front desk person needs to be more pleasant. Perfect place to stay and like to chill. Quite a drive into town to the clubs, but worth it. The drive back late was very safe.

Everything it was good the only bad it was the way to the hotel they should fix the street but other then that it was perfect to a getaway with family

El complejo esta muy bonito, muy bien mantenido, con acceso al mar, la comida del restaurante esta muy rica, solo le faltaría tener mayor variedad.

To far from town and the beach isn't good for swimming at all anytime, to dangerous. I will never go back just because i can't swim in the ocean. Very clean place.

I had 3 issues with the resort 1) Road to resort has bad, bumpy, rough and was very worrisome driving thru it at night. 2) ALL personal at restaurant and the Bar always looked mad and it seemed like they were forced to be there. ALWAYS looked mad. We had to ask the waitress several times for anything we wanted because she kept forgetting. 3) Restaurant opens at 8am. they would even give us a glass of water. Their response was we had to wait until 8am to ask for anything.

Great property!

I was placed in a room my first night and construction was being done around 7:30am after a long late night of travel . The noise was so loud I couldn’t rest . After going to the front desk and asking for a different room I was told they would call or email me when they found something similar . They never called . There was no hot water shower 1 out of the few days I was there . The food and the staff for the restaurant were amazing and the food was amazing. The prices were not expensive very reasonable. Only reason for not getting 1 star . Over priced for not having anything near by to do . You have to get a taxi to and from town .

Good getaway from the city. Hard to find it though.

It was relaxing to stay at a resort. The staff was very friendly. We loved the pools.

We got VIP but they didn’t treat us like VIP because we wanted to play tennis and they wanted to charge us for the racks and courts and we asked to play basketball and they didn’t have balls

Beautiful property, I would definitely go back. The only con is that it is far from town accessible by a dirt road. Not complaining, this makes the place so special, however you need to either buy plenty of groceries for your entire stay on your way from the airport (which is what we did), or depend entirely on the one restaurant on-site. Round trip taxi to town is about $65.00 dlls so be mindful of that. There was one day that the building we were staying had a problem with the water supply and there was no manager in charge to update us on status. The very courteous front desk person was unable to answer our questions and no one else to support her with answers. I believe we had one of the best units in the property (4 bdroom 3 ba beach front - ground level) and we fully took advantage of it. Steps from the beach and pool. I am sure you will enjoy your time as we did. Thank you Vivo for your hospitality, we will definitely be back.

This place is in the middle of nowhere about 4 miles down a dirt road, good and bad? The place was nice though, but pool was dirty and stuff was a bit expensive for the area.

Property includes individually owned units available via rental pool. Ours was minimally furnished; showers didn't drain well and the dryer didn't work effectively. Property is scenic but very remote from any town areas and airport. The only food&beverage option was at the hotel. Limited convenience store onsite. Taxis from airport are under tight control with a surcharge at least $300 pesos higher than the same ride back to airport. Not impressed.

Very friendly staff.

The apartments are very nice. New. Clean. The property as well. The problem is the service at the bars and restaurants. Extremely slow. For some French fries we waited more than an hour. Any meal takes 1-2 hours. I also became very sick on my secondary from food poisoning from something I ate at the restaurante. To get any service it is very hard and limited.

The only issue we had was I reserved 3 rooms and the hotel said we had 4 reservations. Please confirm we only had 3 reservations and the not paid for 3 reservations. Thank you

First let me say that we spent a lovely 3 days at Vivo Resorts. The location is stunning - the massive expanse of almost private beach with crashing waves will stay in my memory a long time. Most of the staff are super and the resort, being all apartments owned independently and then either with owners residing or people on vacation, had a really friendly vibe where lots of people obviously knew each other and participated in activities (yoga , volleyball, etc) with plenty of open and free space. There was a whale swimming off shore on one day, and participating in the turtle release one evening was a real joy. So if there hadn’t been a few negatives , it would have been 5 stars. But here are the negatives- - the room we booked (one bed penthouse) wasn’t available - they had overbooked. The alternative, whilst bigger, did not have the view or feel of the penthouse, even if it was priced slightly higher. The most annoying part was the staff were trying to make out that were giving us what we booked - in the end I took screen shots to prove something they absolutely knew (and eventually admitted). So the check in was incredibly annoying. - WiFi was out for nearly a day - Cleaners’ cleaning cloth was found inside my wife’s case. The case was open and it doesn’t seem that anything is missing , but a wierd occurrence nonetheless Other than that, the food was excellent and most of the staff were lovely.

We love the place, the rooms are very nice, the view of the ocean is fantastic! The pools are very enjoyable and the food at the restaurant was amazing. The staff at the restaurant are vey kind. We were really hoping to make Vivo are oficial place to stay in Puerto Escondido but the staff at the front desk lacks training, our room was cleaned everyday but the living room wasn't. For the price you pay we would suggest that coffee, shampoo and soap would be supplied daily, because it's not. The first day there were two conditioners instead of one shampoo and one conditioner, we reported it and nothing happened, so we had to go personally to the front desk to ak for shampoo. Instead of a customer service attitude we got a "it will be taken care when possible"....Not enough sun chairs by the pool taking into account the number of rooms. Very limited options for happy hour. On January 1st the restaurant service was very affected: few waitress, some kitchen staff didn't show up, they had ran out of certain food supplies, etc. We understand the challenges but it would've been appreciated if there had been a sign explaining the situation of the manager walking around the tables to explain the situation, but when we suggested this, we were told she was on vacations! During high season? Please know we do care for Vivo Resort to be successful since it is in a unique spot and so much investment has been made. So in few words we suggest hiring a manager that will make it so!

I have traveled all over Mexico, and for a resort to provide a level of food quality was particular the staff was always very friendly, providing that typical Mexican hospitality of service

IT WAS VERY RELAXING ,VERY NICE VIEW TO THE BEACH ,AND CLEAN, VERY VERY ATTENTIVE PERSONAL PLACE.

The property is located in a restricted area meaning that you have to drive 20 min in an uneven dirt road. The road is full of bumps rocks and is not of easy to access with a small vehicle. If you are considering this hotel defenetely consider in advance to rent a 4x4 vehicle otherwise you will be stuck at the hotel or will need to pay around 50 dlls (one way) per trip.

Hotel is very far from anything and there are no activities there. The beach is not swimmable. The road to get there is very bumpy and takes 20+ minutes to get down from the main road. Very expensive for what it is.

This resort was a complete disappointment. A complete lack of services and bare minimum effort for guest care. The children’s club was closed, and only one restaurant was open during our stay due to ‘low season’ that isn’t mentioned on Expedia. Swim up bar closed at 5pm..seriously. We stayed at a beautiful but expensive villa. We arrived and it was nice but nothing was there, no coffee (basic for any hotel), no drinks, no laundry detergent, no fruit…definitely not VIP. We called in advance and were assured the store on the resort had what we needed…nope! The worse part was phrasing the resort as rustic..nope just not developed or finished. It is a 30 minute drive to town on dirt roads, parts of which were floaded and had crocodiles in the water. $50 USD to get to town each way but definitely not safe to leave hotel at night to take advantage of activities in town. A ridiculous and disappointing waste of a trip.

The most relaxing vacation of my life! The timing was perfect. We got extremely lucky!

The hotel is beautiful, the staff is friendly, I dont have anything negative to say about the hotel or it staff. On the contrary only positive things to say about hotel and staff. The issues I had was that the hotel is not conveniently located. Its far from everything. Second is no one or nowhere was it mentioned when we booked that the beachbwas off limits. Its seemed like we would have unlimited access to our own private beachbonly to find out you're not allowed to swim in it. I understand safety concerns, but this definitely changes our consideration for staying there. Overall great stay, but those 2 factors will definitely keep me from possibly returning.

Fabulous resort, everything is first-rate. 5 stars. Two downsides: the beach is rough, not usually good for swimming, but gorgeous to look at; second, it’s far from town, so you’ll either need to take taxis or rent a car to go do things. Favorite activity was the baby turtle release, right in front of the resort 2x a week.

It is an amazing place and wonderful service we had an awesome experience there.

The hotel was beautiful, rooms very clean and beautiful views. If I can suggest something it would be restaurant service was very slow and not a lot of options.

The property is beautiful. Staff is great. Paolo whom was the pool bar bartender was great!! He gave us great information on places to visit. He was very attentive and treated us as if he knew us forever.

Loved the hotel and experience. The restaurant/bar has great food and drinks. Excellent customer service and beautiful place. My only complaint would be the WIFI service. My guests and I had issues connecting to the wifi.

The resort is very nice. The room was comfortable. Our main complaint was that it took the food roughly 40 minutes each time to be delivered from the kitchen to the table at the restaurants. The staff was pleasant, but they obviously have a problem in the kitchen.

Nice hotel at a beautiful beach. Far from town. There is a 10-15min on a dirt road on poor conditions.

It would have been nice to have been told before hand that some of the facilties were closed due to covid. There weren't to many people there, so if you are looking for a quiet, secluded place, this is it. But, really a lovely place

We have one of the big condos, the attraction was the beautiful view from the Penthouse on the top that was included, the personnel from the Hotel said we can not use the barbecue grill and not possible to turn on the big jacuzzi

Don’t ruin your vacation. I hope the condo owners read this. The property is not a resort. Let’s begin with that. It’s a bunch of private condominiums managed as a resort. If you’re planning on using WiFi at any point during your stay - RUN AWAY. Seriously. The internet is practically not existent here. At <3mbps you’ll be lucky if your text emails even load. When asked about this to the lobby personnel they suggested I work out of the lobby. Interesting as all their advertising states high speed internet in the rooms. Let’s continue… There is also a tremendous amount of deferred maintenance at the property. You can see this from the flaking mirrors, yellow/stained towels, rust, etc. We stayed in the penthouse suite at the price ($300 per night) we thought the property or at least the suite would be well taken care of. It wasn’t. The view was nice but for the price I would have definitely stayed at Hotel Escondido again. Upon arrival at the Vivo Resort lobby they provide you with a whatsapp number in case you need anything. Once we started reporting problems they literally stopped responding our messages or calls. The staff obviously knows about the issues and prefer to avoid the issues all together. Not the property I want to stay in again. If you’re a property owner here, I highly suggest you take a trip to see how your investment is being run into the ground. Most of the guests we spoke with were having the same issues/complaints. It’s sad no one is doing anything about it

Plenty to like. Beautiful grounds, pools, beach. Nice, clean, modern room. Pleasant staff. We purchased a room with a Queen bed, but only had a matrimonial. The food wasn’t disgusting, but wasn’t great. No tortillas for several days in a row? But the worst part? Really spotty, super slow internet access. I wouldn’t think this should be such a problem these days. Rather frustrating. 😑

Was definitely not what I expected... very far from puerto Escondido... not at all a a Mexican experience and more a tourist place what looks like Orlando, Florida. Staff was nice... rooms not worth the cost. Only stayed one night.

Es el lugar ideal para descansar y desconectarte de todo. Albercas grandes, playa limpia aunque con mareas fuerte. Estas alejado de todo, si piensas usar la cocineta hay que comprar alimentos antes de llegar al hotel. Cocina 100% equipada. Las comidas del restaurante muy bien servidas. El internet es un poco lento en varias areas del hotel

Property had ocean view and was nice. What was kind if a bummer is in order to get to resort it was about 15 minutes away feom town and then you had to hop off the highway and add another 20 minutes worth of a bad dirt road with terrible washboards. On top of terrible commute in order to do something outside of the hotel because their menu was soo limited. From my understanding if you know your people staying from your hotel are far from everything at least stock up the hotels restaurant with food. We had a group of 13 people and for everytine someone ordered.. “ohh were out” “can’t order that due to not having this” was just a pain not being able to satisfy cravings after reading a menu if good food and then be limited. On top of that the Guy that was in charge was never there even after requesting to talk to him through other front desk people. Would not recommend staying here. Good hotel but its in the middle of no where and the higher up people dont care about how your stay was..

Vivo hotel y really nice! Front beach, the rooms are very big, they have kitchen and refrigerator, the showers are very spacious too!! Really clean rooms and amenities, and the staff is super friendly! I will come back soon...

The staff was fantastic the room was really nice and spacious and we had a washer dryer in our suite! Also cannot beat the views, the ocean, the pool, the weather...

The staff was very friendly and efficient!!! The resort is a great size, not tiny, not huge. The food was fantastic! The condos are do much more comfortable then regular resort rooms. We loved it! We’ll be back!

The best part were the beaches. Beautiful beaches. No phone in the room, i asked for a bottle of Perrier and the bartender gave me with blame excuses. For this kind of hotel i was expecting way way more. Staff at the Thai restaurant not friendly.

The hotel was amazing - the release of baby turtles was incredible - the dividing of pools for adults only was excellent. A large bottle of water should in each room! The only negative for me was the food - it was marginal at best. The staff were super friendly and welcoming!

Excellent location on a beautiful deserted beach. This was our second trip to VEVO, we really enjoyed our first stay, although the kitchen sink trap fell out while doing dishes, flooding the floor. It took hours for the guy to fix it.(it’s not a very complicated task) Buildings are new (<10 years) but the maintenance/upkeep is a problem. The wading pool in our penthouse condo was not ready (cleaned and filled), it took a worker 4 hours of our private time to get it where we could relax in the sun and enjoy it. By then the sun had moved past and we were in the shade. Once he left, without being able to get more than 2 of the 12 jets working the waterfall stopped. This continued for the duration of our stay making the extra cost of a penthouse suite with a jacuzzi tub pointless. The was no wifi and the mellinials at the front desk just rolled their eyes when we told them. Yes, there is wifi at the front desk but not in the suite. The tv didn’t work and the service guy said he needed a password, left and never came back. There was no coffee filters which we didn’t notice until the morning when we were desperately in need of a caffeine fix. They are building new units but appear unable to keep up with the ongoing daily maintenance of existing condo units. It is entirely possible the owner of the unit we rented hasn’t been there for some time and is unaware of the problems. Great location on a wonderful beach, beautiful buildings but poorly maintained. Caveat emptor!

A beautiful place to stay with top notch service. Great for all ages and families. It’s a bit farther from Puerto Escondido and the beach at the resort is prone to rip tides so be careful.

Nice new building with really nice condos. The drive out to the resort is the worst. Long sandy windy dark dirt road that takes you to the middle of nowhere. Nothing surrounds this resort besides another building next door where construction was happening while our stay in feb 2019. There was little to no cell phone reception and internet was down when we arrived. Hence no WiFi. When we went to complain the manager he lied to us and blamed it on the Mexican telecom, said it was down all weekend and nobody (even Puerto Escondido) didn’t have internet, which wasn’t true. We managed to get out of our Reservation after one night, but with lots of arguments. The entire resort had only a hand full of people staying there which were mostly seniors. Would never stay here again, even if they had the fastest internet in the world. Just too far away from everything.
