The customer service was great.
Staff was okay, water pressure great, otherwise, run the opposite way.
When we arrived water pump is broken. The water smells bad after it was turned on.
Not recomended .. Booked two room for 7 people when we arrive in the place after 5 hour of drive the staff said only one room available so mad we all tried and the room smell pee and insect and mosquitos I complain in expedia however no available hotel in the area. imagine 7 people in room . The next day they give us another room on the top of the Property called straiway to heaven to go up there is so scarry . When time to shower the Water is smell sower. This place is discomfort only the best in this place is a front beach view
Great place, great staff, great location. The only issue I had was the noise of the dogs barking way too much at night. They had some house dogs that they should really put somewhere else besides, let them walk around at night because the other dogs on the beach will try and out bark them.
Not much available in town. Nice staff. Bev is friendly and helpful. Our oceanview room was spectacular due to the view. The room itself is a conglomeration of what ever materials they had laying around.
What a find !! Paid a tiny bit extra for the beach view, and it was well worth it. We also had breakfast included, which was basic, but delicious.
Very charming , laid back relaxing place. Right on a nice beach and close to shopping and entertainment. Not an Upscale 5* but certainly comfortable and clean.
Right on the beach and quiet
The only thing.we.did not like were the mosquitoes
Fantastic value for money stay in El Nido. Make sure you get a room overlooking the beach. Cleanliness could be better but everything else including staff helpfulness is first rate. Don’t be picky and you will really enjoy your time here.
The room #1 was great for the view and the bed was comfortable, however, being next to the restaurant sucked! People were loud until after midnight and the staff were nowhere to be found to complain to so I had to tell others to be quiet myself. The water in the bathroom stunk like sewage and the room needed repair as it was old and dated. Furthermore, with breakfast included, it was not good and the staff would either knock on your door late at night or early morning waking you up to ask for what you wanted to eat the next day only to be met with a cold meal when you got up to the restaurant. Lastly, the dogs around in the restaurant stunk and caused fleas to be around. Like I said, the location right on the sunset beach is amazing, but the place needs serious attention to look after their patrons…hopefully the nice front desk lady sees this and makes it better for others. There are many other properties close by that we would stay at next time
Really enjoyed the stay. Just enough out to main town so you can detach but still within walking distance to everything. Breakfast was good and a great cup of coffee to aid a hangover.
We liked the beach view from the restaurant and super friendly and helpful staff. Easy access to the beach. Our breakfast was included, however the options weren't great and portions were small. Our room was nice and spacious, good AC ,however the shower was not great, on one or two occasions we had no water at all. Overall we had a very nice stay!
Staff are great, view beautiful, clean room, great food, ,i would book again highly recommended
So when I first got here, there was so much wrong with this place that I was leaning toward two stars, but then overtime, the view and amazing staff won me over. So let’s touch upon some of the bad before we can focus on the good. First, my check-in was delayed until 4 o’clock. Not a major thing, but a little annoying. However, something that was really annoying was the construction that went on all day long. Oh, and on the note of construction, I got trapped in my first room (the moved me to three rooms throughout my stay) when the lock seem to break for no reason. One of the hotel workers heard my cries, and we were able to free me by slipping the key out the window. So how does this place rate four stars. Well, the view for one. It was so relaxing to get away from El NIDO proper, and just spend the day looking at the waves and those giant rocks off shore. The area of success was the staff. Everyone was so nice, and so friendly that I soon forgot the negatives. In fact, when I got sick, the manager sent her employees out for medicine and supplies. The genuinely concerned for my health and that means a lot So would I stay here again. Yes.
It's a Filipino resort that looks and feels like it was built and furnished from leftovers found at the salvation army store. It definitely has character! The beach and sunset are awesome. The wifi is really horrible. And the cell signal is terribly weak. If they only fixed the wifi it would help justify the room rates they charge. And breakfast could be also be improved. But chill out and enjoy Palawan 🙏
I like this place. It’s not perfect like other modern western style hotels. But it’s the imperfections that make this hotel perfect for me. The cottage has character. The garden is so peaceful. And the beach is literally 4 steps down from the patio. Can’t say enough about the staff. No uniforms here. Just friendly and accommodating people that treat you like family. And they have puppies! Yes puppies! Two adorable and very friendly puppies. My son loved them. We’ll be back!
Sunsets at our balcony were great. Our room is in disrepair. Cracks on the wall, tiny roaches scrambling, water was brownish...yes, as in rusty and smelly too. AC was working but filter is full of dust. No soap or anything in the room. Breakfast reservation was at 7am, nobody was there. We had to wait for 15 or more minutes before someone greeted us to check in. They were painting the walls, great. But, more than that they should deep clean the rooms and rstaurant. Overall, the place can be in a much better shape if managed properly. Will I recommend Island Front? No!
Quited place and Good even old wood style room
Stayed there for two nights. They have a nice garden & good view of Corong-corong beach. Flooring & walls are made of wood and obviously old.
I found this accommodation to be surprisingly good. Front desk was very nice and helpful. The room was clean, beds were comfortable, and we had a balcony overlooking to the sea. The beach right in front of the hotel is beautiful and quiet and there is nothing more relaxing than sitting there during sunset. Breakfast was yummy with three different breakfast options: Filipino, American and Continental. A good sign of appreciation towards their customer is that upon check-out they greeted us with some cookies. Definitely this accommodation is underrated on Hotels.con
The natural and wooden style is very nice. However internet was not working at all, my deluxe room also did not have hot water in the shower (got hot water once, other times it was either warm or cool), at times there was dirty water coming out of the shower and the sink. Also breakfast are very small, monotonnous and overall quality is just bad. Generally I don't think this place is worth the money.
Islandfront was ok for the few nights we were there. The breakfast was very poor as very little options and even though there were two signs to say coffee and tea there was no tea. The WiFi wasn’t connected when we got there so the staff had to go and buy more data and then when they did that it only lasted ten minutes so we had to go to a cafe to check emails and book other accommodation for our trip. The room was nice and had a lovely view but very basic and there was two power cuts which made the room very dark
At fisrst when reading the reviews from prior guests, i was a bit skeptical....but then when we arrived, i seriously didnt knkw why there was so many bad reviews! We checked in and within 2 minutes, everythin was sorted, from room, to van back to Puerto Princessa and even tour A for the next morning. The young lady took us to our room, and the photos did not do it justice at all. The view was just amazing overlooking the entire bay and the sunsets were mindblowing. So i would reccomend paying a bit more to get the better room, but totally worth it. The room itself is very basic, but everything you need from fridge, ac, bed with net. The restaurant staff is very friendly and goes out of their way to help us. The knly setback was the wifi....but if you go to el nido....you dont need wifi. Overall a fantastic couple of nights and we will reccommend it for sure....but remember, book the better rooms for beach front view!
Very little water; breakfast poor; customer service poor; bed uncomfortable.
Hotel staff was nice but bathrooms could use some work there is no water pressure but the most amazing view you’ll ever see anywhere it was awesome
Where do I start, upon arrival I was greeted by a very unfriendly reception person who was more interested in being on the Internet on her phone and answering to her 2 children. I was showed up to my room on stairs that were positively dangerous to find I had no hot water as soon as I checked. They said they found the issue but the water wasn’t very hot (stone cold in fact). Changed my room up more stairs with broken handrails and when they were checking if it had any hot water the tap came of in the house keeping staff’s hand, who incidentally was barely old enough to be out of school. ( this time I got a Luke warm shower came out into the room and turned the air conditioning on to find blood smeared in the outside of it. Then there is the wifi which only works in the reception area but due to the staff being on it all the time it was next to useless. Then there’s the non existent buffet breakfast due to be open at 7.00 but because the staff were feeding themselves it didn’t even start to come out until after 7.30 and was terrible and that’s being kind. The photos on Expedia are obviously photo shopped because the view was nothing like what is seen in the photos. If in el nido give this place a big miss. Absolutely terrible.
IslandFront Cottages, El Nido, Palawan, Philli service sketchy at best when someone was around however most of the time, no one was around. no hot water, no refrigerator, no phone, nor housekeeping. asked for housekeeping on 3 different days, not once was it done. AC works most of time when generator doesn’t kick off, tv didn’t work. Thin walls and can hear the next room’s conversation. steps or stairs uneven height and not to code. Resort of last resort. Quiet location and sunset view’s incredible from our room patio.
Great little place with friendly and helpful staff . Tasty breakfast included was a bonus . Each day there was a different choice of traditional Filipino food . Location great - close to town but still away from the tourist crowd . I highly recommend this place and definitely will come back .
This is the worst place i have stayed in my whole life. I had a horrible experience. The place stinks it smells like sewage and there are stray digs all over the place. Not to mention that the room was very dirty, the sheets were filthy and there were insects inside the room. There was no hot water for 3 days and of course no wifi. We also couldn't sleep at night as there was a chicken cage just right behind our room, the hens started making sounds from 10pm till morning. They said they offer free breakfast but the breakfast was really so bad so that we were going to have breakfast every single day outside. It was really a horrible experience and i wouldn't recommend it to anyone
Our room was very nicely decorated, you could see they put a lot of effort on it. The hotel was just at the front of tbe beach, however, for swimming is a bit shallow, but there is another beach to swimm very close. The staff is helpful, they book us other tours and transport. The only problem was the water, sometimes run out and they have to wait a bit to fill up the tank, but this only happened once and it seems to be a general problem in El Nido, same as the slow Internet.
Only place in S E A that knows how to cook bacon. Great food all round. Highly recommended hotel
Apart from the fact that I had a beach front bungalow and I just stepped out onto the beautiful beach from my room.....that's the only good thing I can say about this hotel. Firstly even though requested my room didn't get cleaned for the 3 nights I stayed there. There was no wifi to the rooms and even in the reception the wifi was very poor. No hot water from the shower and the breakfast buffet was very avaerge. Lack of helpfulness from the staff and went to hire a motorbike from them and took one look at the quality of the bikes and walked away and hired from another place 100 meters up the road. Not the hotels fault but be warned on this beach there are also residents houses who keep chickens and dogs. Therefore had dogs barking until about 2 am and then the cockerels crowing from about 4am. Suffice to say I didn't get much sleep for the 3 nights I stayed here.
We prepaid for a 3 night stay and were pleasantly surprised the first night. Amazing views!! Unfortunately our daughter got sick and the water to the second floor was not pumping which made for a very difficult situation... vomiting, diarrhea and no running water. "walang tubig." We asked for a refund for the other nights and after much negotiating got most of it back. "walang tubig, walang bayad" - "No water, no pay." The manager was not sympathetic, almost argumentative and had an attitude.
Don't expect a lot but you get all you need here. I had a suite with balcony which allowed me to see the great sunsets. But even if you don't have one of those the out door public dining area has amazing view. The buffet breakfast is great to start your day and is included. You're only a short trike ride into town from here. The staff are great and if your not fussy you'll enjoy it
the bathroom are dirty full of dust bugs every where their some sort of dust on the bed when I get to the toilet sit it's wet n dirty the furniture are dusty n dirty but I will say the stuff are friendly and accommodating it's just their room are not pleasant to sleeping n staying not worth the money
The only bad points for me were that, like in all El nido, the water will make you sick even if you brush your teeth with it. Also watch your food etc. Don't have any ice. Just be sensible or you will be ill. My balcony door wasn't secure and there were some ants in the room. Shower wasn't great. I'm sure a fruit smoothie there gave me a bad stomach but not sure. Many people had bad stomach illnesses in El nido. The view at sunset is lush. The restaurant service is slowwwwww. But the staff are nice and the woman at reception helped me with my bad stomach with advice on what to take. The beach is OK. Most hotels in El nido are not amazing but the views etc make up for it. Just be super careful what you eat and drink
The staff was amazing. They always had a smile on their face and helped in any way they could. Amazing views from the room. Breakfast was ok. Room was cute and spunky but not over the top. Loved it here.
Great stay here! Got a room right on the ocean front with a private balcony and hammock. Breakfast could be better but could be gotten as room service which was nice. The staff was extremely helpful and kind in assisting any needs we had. A quick tricycle ride to town. There are a couple restaurants and stores near by. Had a great stay and wish I could go back.
Staff was exceptionally accommodating and friendly, location was excellent. Room was well kept though bathrooms were mediocre at best. Definitely worth considering.
We stayed at Islandfront for three nights and had a good time. The place has a nice atmoshpere and the staff is very nice. It's not in the centre but town is only 10 minutes with a tricycle.
Island Front has a quaint, rustic charm about it. It's by no means a 3 star hotel, more like a guest house. If you want 3 star go somewhere else. The location is quite good, half way between the town and one of the best beaches. The food and service seemed a bit erratic. Breakfast is free but you might have to wait for it. There is hot water but you might have to wait for that too. But if you are the easy going type it doesn't really matter. The rooms are small but if you have a sea view room you also have a large terrace/balcony. A great place to chill out and admire the view. Would consider staying there again but only in a sea view room. By the way Expedia like other on line companies force you to answer questions that you cannot really answer. Would I recommend this to a friend? I would not recommend it, just describe it and it's for others to make the decision.
They always forget that we booked tours with them and can't follow through with their promises. The breakfast selection was terrible!! We also had to move to a cheaper room because there were so many flying insects, not sure if those were termites and they promised they will contact Expedia but until now, we haven't gotten a refund of the price difference between our original room and the other room we had to transfer to.
Alot of style and fun in the decor for the bigger rooms. Some crazy touches like separate hot and cold showerheads(!) - but come on folks smile! If you are used to an Asian scooping water bathing it doesn't matter. Many reviewers note the cottages have thin walls, but note that ours were separated by about 1'. Didn't have any noise issues - very silent by 11pm, even the road except for the occaisional passing trike. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Jake especially who is in charge during the day, and his boss (missed her name). Basic breakfast of eggs and toast or a couple of other options. Always offer hot and cold filtered water, with teabags or nescafe. The tour we took from the hotel (tour C) was great - 4 guys on the boat worked their backsides off all day. They cooked a delicious grilled fish lunch, and took us to all 5 stops in the tour. Best it leaves directly from the hotel, no transfers. They make next to nothing - give them a tip. Corong corong is much quieter than the main town. Neither beach is good for swimming, but Las Cabanas is 1.5km by trike and is perfect - visit the beach shack for lunch. This is a fun place to stay if you can relax and appreciate it.
The hotel's overall compound looks rather small. However, it houses an onsite restaurant, short stretch of beach front, small garden, lobby and waiting area! Breakfast was provided in our room price. Walls were too thin. Could hear the entire volumn of TV programme coming from the next room. However, there was a notice which states that sound proofing is being implemented. located right next to a huge provision shop and pharmacy. Good for buying daily food and drinks.Tricycles are easily available which take us to El Nido town daily.Hotel staff are very helpful. our van transport did not arrive. The staff went the extra mile to get us an alternative transport company.
Poor service. Staff act aloof and almost defensive at simple requests. Asked for towels twice one night, instead had a two piña coladas arrive at the door twice insisting we ordered them. No toilet seat (seat, not seat cover) on toilet. Huge holes in mosquito net. Internet only worked at the crack of dawn but promptly stopped working once 3+ users were connected, despite sitting next to the router. The pros are a decent breakfast and beautiful sunset on a gorgeous deck. All in all, would never stay here again.
They mishandled a bed bug issue and were unhygienic about it. I did not enjoy dealing with this hotel.
This hotel mismanaged a bed bug situation. I don't blame the hotel for getting bed bugs - that can happen. But I thought their handling of the situation was awful. This is what happened: I was waiting to check in. A guest came to the desk, covered in bites, complaining of bed bugs. The hotel promised they'd change the mattress. I got paranoid, asked if I could check my future room and when I got there, there was no mattress. Then suddenly the maids were carrying in a mattress. I asked what room they got it from. Then I found the bitten man in the courtyard and asked what room he was in and he said the same room number. So basically they moved a bed bug infested mattress around the hotel rather than correctly address the problem. Then, the hotel wouldn't let me cancel the room, even though it was unfit to stay in.
Islandfront Cottages was a very pleasant suprise. My girlfriend and I spent 3 nights at Islandfront and really enjoyed our stay. We had a great view out of the water and one of the mountains on a nearby island. The restaurant had great views of the water and was a nice spot to see the beautiful sunsets in El Nido. The service at Islandfront was very helpful, as they helped us book our island hopping tour and when they did not have any motorcycles left for me to rent they helped me acquire one from somewhere else at a really good deal. They also set up our bus ride back to Puerto Princesa by getting us two reserved seat in a van. This may not sound like much, but when they are trying to stuff the vans with as many people as they can and you have the two best seats reserved, it makes a big difference. The only negative was that the wifi is not really the fasted, but still fast enough to upload pictures to facebook and instagram! All in all, it was a really nice stay and we will definitely be back!
Very nice place. ..very nice beach and the staff very nice the restaurant in the hotel very good
this place looks nice on the pictures but when you actually get there you will soon realized that its different from your expectations. Forget about the restaurant service and the "Free Breakfast". Coffee is hot water and some cheap instant coffee which does not seem to be made of coffee beans. Ride to El Nido is PHP 50 (100 to go and come back). Staff is not helpful at all, they wanted to charge PHP 100 per passenger to call the van company to pick us up (Van company provides free pickups from the hotel and even drives by on the way to Puerto Princesa)
when I looked at the pictures of the nice patio at the beach I thought that we could sit there and have a dinner. Actually, they don't serve anything at the patio and I never saw anybody sitting there. I also never saw anybody eating at the dining area except the "free breakfast". Basically what you get for breakfast is an eggplant omelette and some hot water for the instant coffee. No Wifi on the room and at the dining area there are no outlets, so you can only work there until the battery of your laptop is dead. I would not recommend this place. Receptionist not helpful at all even for the smallest favor like calling the van to go to Puerto Princesa he wanted to charge us 300 pesos extra (the van picks up the passengers for free from the hotel). They offer tours (big sign) and there is also a sign showing that they accept credit cards. When I asked to use my card to pay for the tour receptionist told me that they only accept cards for the accomodation.
