The room was fine—clean and quiet The food was basic but fresh and delicious, and the staff were welcoming and friendly.

The hostel entrance smelled of urine; it was a very unpleasant way to arrive. The bathtubs weren't very clean, and there was no bath mat or towel on the floor to soak up the water when stepping out.

Rien de spécial, peut-être un manque d' ascenseur car nous étions au dernier étage mais après nous ne sommes restées que une nuit. On entendait le bruit de la rue durant la nuit mais ça va quand même, on a réussi à dormir.

I didn’t dislike much, just wish they had a to-go option for the west coast trail people since so many of us were leaving before breakfast and got back just after dinner had ended. Also, maybe it should be noted somewhere that there is a charge to stow any bag in between stays.

The location was very rough and too much traffic. I woke in the morning to a room full of gasoline fumes.

Worst place to have booked till date. Worst customer service from the property and Booking.com. Property had a REALLY BAD ODOUR and reserved beds (dormitory) were unkept. No proper instructions/signage on how to access the beds. Front desk was rude and put a charge on CC without approval (FD rep Jannat took our IDs and started insisting that we pay to get our IDs back). Only took the keys around 6pm to hand them back and just checkout at midnight without spending a single minute in the property. PURE HARASSMENT BY THE PROPERTY STAFF AND BOOKING.COM (to not respect & respond to my queries on the app). Not recommending this property at all and not recommending Booking.com ever going forward. CC charge is being disputed.

Very tasty dinner and nice breakfast. Good location.

I had a really nice stay. I appreciated all the included stuff (breakfast, dinner and a drink at night). There were many bathrooms such that the shared bathrooms weren't really a problem. A really great place to meet people, even if you are staying in a solo room! The location is super central. You can also store your luggage for free (they lend you a lock with a 10 dollar deposit).

The dinner was a bit basic (but again: free). Some homeless people battling addiction nearby (they don't come up to you or anything, but it can be a bit intimidating at first).

Blisko do centrum miasta. To w zasadzie jedyny plus. Chłopak ostatniego dnia na recepcji podniósł naszą ocenę bo był bardzo pomocny i życzliwy. Śniadanie też ujdzie, skromne ale przynajmniej nie carry jak ktoś tu pisał. Bezdomni narkomani nie wchodzili do środka i nie korzystali za wspólnych toalet i darmowych śniadań.

Nie będę się skarżył na otoczenie hostelu bo o tym już wiele opinii było. Na ulicach Vancouver narkomania i bezdomność jest powszechna i pod tym hotelem też przesiadują ludzie z marginesu. Pokój był brudny, duszny, śmierdziało z toalety obok, mieliśmy kołdrę ze śladami po wylanej zupie czy innym jedzeniu (wolę nie myśleć że było to coś innego). Obsługa była opryskliwa, jakby uważała że za takie pieniądze nie mamy czego oczekiwać. Pokoik miał 6m2 ale na to się zgodziliśmy.. Części wspólnych w tym podłóg chyba nikt na codzień nie sprząta. Ogólnie syf i smród. Chcieliśmy się wyprowadzić już pierwszej nocy ale jakoś daliśmy radę.

Because it was in downtown

Its wasn’t clean, food was below average, breakfast was cold, frozen eggs everything frozen,rooms were like living in a prison., they even didn’t provided a hand towel or tissues in the room, no parking nothing, washrooms was okk but they didn’t provided anything to wipe your hands no towels.

La implicación del personal es que se esté lo mejor posible. El desayuno está bien pero es mejorable. LA cena aunque con poca variedad está bien. La cama me pareció cómoda. El baño está limpio. Hay buena atmósfera y buen ambiente. Genial la facilidad para chek-in y poder dejar el equipaje tras el check out, genial. Muy bien ubicado, se puede ir andando a todo lo céntrico.

Que no haya leche líquida en el desayuno. La hay en polvo.

Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Mir hat die locker Atmosphäre sehr gefallen und das Frühstück und ein einfaches aber sehr leckeres Abendessen im Preis inbegriffen war. Das Zimmer war einfach aber ich brauchte eh nein Bett und eine Dusche. Zu den Serviceleistungen, wie Wäsche waschen oder Gepäckaufbewahrung, kann ich nichts sagen.

Leider mir erst beim packen aufgefallen das an meinen Sachen überall lange Haare waren. Meine sind kurz. Bis auf die Haare war es aber überall sauber.

I stayed at Queen Island and would like to acknowledge that several staff members were kind, friendly, and helpful. Unfortunately, my final interaction with one staff member, Maryam, was disappointing and raised a serious concern. While I was waiting in line to check out, Maryam asked the guest behind me whether she could assist her first because the guest needed to collect a key and retrieve her luggage. I calmly explained that I was first in line. Maryam proceeded to assist the other guest without explaining the situation further. Although I found this frustrating, I accepted it and did not pursue the matter. Discriminatory Comment: When I later returned to complete my checkout and provided my name, Farnaz, Maryam said, “Oh, you are Iranian. Is that why you are aggressive? We have lots of guests, but none of them are aggressive like you.” I found this comment inappropriate and offensive. Rather than addressing the situation professionally, she attributed my behaviour to my nationality and made a personal judgment based on my name. Regardless of any disagreement or misunderstanding, staff should communicate respectfully and avoid making comments that stereotype or demean guests. The fact that we are both Iranian made the comment particularly surprising, but the issue is not limited to that circumstance. No guest should be characterized as aggressive because of their nationality or background. In my view, this comment was discriminatory and inconsistent with the standards of professionalism I would expect from a hospitality establishment in Canada. I am sharing this review not only to express my concern, but also to encourage the property to address the incident appropriately. Mistakes can happen, but staff should be expected to recognize inappropriate conduct, take responsibility, and learn from it. Although other staff members were helpful during my stay, this final interaction left a negative impression and significantly affected my overall experience.

Quasi nulla, completamente sconsigliato per soggiorni con famiglie, l'unica cosa buona era il letto molto comodo e la stanza che era ben insonorizzata (c'erano avvisi ovunque di rumori molesti fino a mezzanotte invece noi abbiamo dormito indisturbati)

Sicuramente una scelta errata per soggiorno con la mia famiglia (e noi abbiamo soggiornato in altri ostelli nel mondo, in Canada e in buona parte di Europa), posto sporco, (non abbiamo fatto la doccia da tanto era lurido il bagno e la doccia piena di capelli), cena orribile (scelta tra sole 2 pietanze piccantissime ed immangiabili, tanto che ci siamo arresi ed andati in altro posto), colazione un pò meglio ma da rivedere comunque. Attenzione perchè questa non è una bella zona della città, è piena di senza tetto e drogati che circolano anche alle 9 di sera in condizioni più che pietose: noi quando abbiamo lasciato la macchina (ad un solo isolato di distanza) al parcheggio multipiano vicino all'ostello e siamo dovuti tornare a piedi, non ci siamo sentiti per nulla sicuri. Questo ostello va bene solo se sei uno studente squattrinato in cerca di compagnie serali (anche di dubbio gusto), ma per le famiglie assolutamente no, noi non torneremo mai più

Hat alles gehabt, was ich brauche, Zimmer hat gepasst und Lage war grundsätzlich gut, nahe am Hafen.

Leider in der Nähe relativ viele Obdachlose, ich wurde nie belästigt, trotzdem einfach auffällig muss man sagen.

The free breakfast and dinner is where the real value is at. The dinner is phenomenal and super filling especially if you were just backpacking. There is also a currency token system in the hostel for laundry and stuff and you can win tokens at trivia Thursday nights. Definitely brush up on your mid 1900s facts.

The free breakfest and dinner and the free drink every evening. The staff was super friendly and the rooms clean and nice.

The lockers were made out of wood, so it wasn't as safe as metal boxes but it's alright.

I really liked the staff members that I interacted with. They were caring and kind. The room was pretty good overall and cleaner than many hostels I have stayed at.

Some of the other guests were inconsiderate and difficult to be around. There were also some that were great. Unfortunately the difficult ones made the stay less pleasant - the guests that left big messes in the bathrooms, loud, were pushy in common areas, and smoking marijuana brought down the value. The breakfast was a nice touch, although at the time I was there, that was where I experienced pushy guests and it got a bit chaotic. I didn't bother coming back for the other meal and drink options, because there were just too many people at breakfast pushing people, etc.

Great location if you arent intimidated but the local unhoused population. They keep to themselves.

Some of the staff were... a lil spicy. Im gonna chalk it up to a busy tourist season and patience wearing thin. Hostle living is different, a lil orientation for the unititiated upon checkin before other staff get mad at your for just being a lost tired tourist would be greatly appreciated.

Free breakfast, free dinner and one free drink included! Remember to do your dishes! There were many washrooms with showers on each floor, I never had to wait to be able to take a shower. There are lockers in the rooms where you can put your luggage, bring your own lock or rent one to lock it. Room also included a fridge. Location can be reached by bus from the ferry terminal for example and there are many stores nearby.

The common bathrooms are private which is very valuable in a hostel. The staff was very friendly and nice. I asked one of the workers at reception to help me plan my day because i was on a quite tight schedule and she was very happy to give me all her suggestions! Very helpful. Free dinner, breakfast, and a drink included. I only had the breakfast which was quite good, and i had dinner outside, but it's good to know we can always eat for free at the hostel if we are on a tight budget. The location was perfect i could walk everywhere, didn't have to use any public transportation.

The dorms are a little small for 4 people. The building is quite old (but still confortable).

Freundliche Atmosphähre, einladend. Wir waren in einem 2-er Zimmer, nicht im Dorm. Darum hatten wir mehr Luxux, als die anderen. Die Zimmer soind aber doch auch sehr klein. Das Abendessen war fein, und Free Drinks macht, dass man sich mit den anderen im Aufenthaltsraum trifft, was toll ist. Ausserdem wurde uns auch per SMS geantwortet, als wir nach der Suche nach einem verlorenen T-Shirt waren...

Dass es beim Morgenessen keinen guten Kafe gab. Dass man mir keine genauen Angaben gegeben hat, bezüglich der Parksituation rund ums Hotel

The meal was very good, thanks to Mohammed and many thanks to the bartender for his service and the ambiance. I had fun and met interesting travelers.

Pasta night prior to Tour de Victoria on Friday. Lots of clients were part of the event and could have benefited from some carbohydrates! Breakfast is super. Perhaps offering a milk product for coffee would be appreciated. Wooden dorm doors are making noise while closing, perhaps they are too tight and should be sanded down a bit.

The bathrooms were dirty and had mold in the doors. The beds were a mat that was 2 inches thick. No AC only a fan. No elevator. Food was not very good. You have to pay for the whole time you booked for when you get there at check in before you see the whole space and offer no refunds whatsoever! Even if you have a medical reason for not staying! Felt scammed.

Free drink and dinner and breakfast, greatly appreciated. It was centrally located, close to the city center. I enjoyed the 10% discount at BC Cycle.

The smell of cleaning products lingered in the corridor. The bathroom was not super clean, and the communal areas were not the most comfortable or cosy.

Good location close to downtown. The provided breakfast was a nice bonus. The room was very small but comfortable, and the included fridge was good to have. Having multiple toilets and showers nearby the room meant we never had to wait to use either. The locker storage area was useful to store our bags for the day after we checked out.

As to be expected there was quite a bit of traffic noise from the street below, the fan in the window was great to cool the room, but as it props up the window it meant noise was louder than it would be if the window could fully close. However it's obviously a much simpler solution than having a separate fan or AC unit.

This is a well run hostel. Staff. Central. Easy to find. In newly renovated dorms - bedside light/plugs, bunk beds sturdy. Clean. Bear in mind this is a listed building, so some renovations not allowed.

No lift! However, staff will help. Great hostel! It would be nice to have a comfortable lounge area.

My friend and I stayed over last weekend, and it honestly turned out to be a great experience—especially since it was both of our first times staying in a hostel. We found ourselves accidentally chatting with other travellers during meals and really enjoying the social vibe, while still feeling comfortable and not forced. The staff and everyone there were incredibly friendly, which made the whole stay feel welcoming from the moment we arrived. We were also impressed with the facilities—there are shower and washrooms with five per floor, and you can use them one person at a time, so privacy feels well protected. On top of that, we slept really well (no snoring from anyone all weekend!), everything was quiet, and the place was kept clean and well maintained.

Friendly staff

This is more of a backpacker hostel and the overall atmosphere reflects that. During our stay, we encountered a number of guests who appeared to be in difficult circumstances, which made the environment feel uncomfortable at times. The breakfast was very basic, and the dinner was far below what we expected. The options were essentially a bowl of vegetarian pasta of rather poor quality or a bowl of rice with stew. Considering that we booked half board, the meals felt more like a marketing feature than a genuine half-board experience. We booked a private room with a bunk bed for two people. Unfortunately, the bed was very basic and noisy, while the sheets and blankets appeared worn out and were not particularly clean. Overall, the hygiene and cleanliness throughout the hostel were also disappointing. All in all, we did not feel that the experience was worth the money. Based on our stay, I would not return and would recommend looking for other accommodation options.

The room felt very cramped, this is definitely more of a "party hostel" as a it does have a bar attached. Its one of only a few options for cheap accomodation in Victoria, but still felt very expensive compared to other hostels i have visited in the past.

Der er parkering på stedet som ikke kan bookes. Da vi ankom var parkeringspladsen tom på nær en bil der var ude af stand til at køre. Vi ville gerne parkere der men fik at vide at alle pladser var booket (?) - Vi måtte finde anden parkering ude i byen. Den inkluderede aftensmad ser fin ud på billeder, men var ikke særlig appetitlig. Af samme grund sprang vi over morgenmaden.

Pros: AMAZING FREE BREAKFAST!!! Eggs, bread, jam, peanut butter, honey, yogurt, juice, fruit. Stellar. Good location a short walk from the harbor and attractions. Also, it's literally a block away from a main bus stop! They have good size lockers.

Cons: First of all, it's the only hostel in Victoria, so I shouldn't complain too much, as I am grateful they exist. Victoria is wildly expensive, so you'll have to pay a lot to get just a little. Cons: Rooms rely on an antique old time key, and so most people always forget to lock the door after themselves, leaving the room exposed to theft. No soap, no shampoo, and $10 deposit for a towel. Only 3 bathrooms per floor, and the showers are combined with toilets so people can get really territorial when they have to go. No privacy curtains on the old bunk beds, not even on the bottom bed. Very small room so it's not easy climbing to the top bunk. Very old rooms, haven't been remodeled in decades. Also, it's very annoying to be charged $5 CAD if you want a bottom bunk. No common quieter areas to work. No wall sockets, but they have little extension cords sockets that are zip tied to the beds.

The location was about a 20 minute walk from the FRS clipper ferry terminal.

Overpriced. The private room was very hot and stuffy, the fan in the room didn't help. The window was not able to be closed and there is a lot of street noise throughout the night. $10 deposit required for a towel, only returned in cash. Free breakfast and dinner are very basic. No frills, rundown.

The location couldn't be beat. I could walk to downtown, Chinatown and the waterfront easily. It was also close to the bus stop that takes you to Butchart Gardens, if you want to visit the garden.

The breakfast and dinner was very bad, no cream for coffee, dinner was a bowl of slop both nights. The "deep clean" and having to vacate the room for a whole day, why book out the room? Seemed greedy to me. The temperature in the room was really hot, the quilt was so worn and thin. I stayed there 6 years ago and it was much better.

Sehr freundliches Personal. Sehr, sehr günstig und super Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Gutes Frühstück war dabei und sogar ein veganes Abendessen. Bett konnte man mit einem Vorhang etwas Privatsphäre erreichen. Super Lage, mitten in der Stadt. Parkmöglichkeiten, entweder direkt am Hostel und in den nahegelegenen Parkhäusern (in der Nacht gratis). Gratis Welcome-Drink. Kleine Bar, angenehmer Aufenthaltsbereich. Handtuch gratis, aber 10 Dollar (nur bar!) Depotgebühren. Abschliessbare (Schloss selber mitbringen) Fächer in den Zimmern. Viele WC‘s inkl. Duschen auf den Etagen. Jeweils in einem Raum kombiniert.

Leider nur eine Person an der Reception. Das Auschecken dauerte fast 30 Minuten. Zimmer eher klein.
