The hotel was comfortable, the staff were kind and helpful, and the location was phenomenal. The island is beautiful, and the friendly rabbits are truly endless. The island features nice hikes, beautiful scenery, and is a tranquil and natural place to relax in. I could have stayed there for many days and enjoyed every second.
If you want to swim at the beach there, remember to come during the summer season. Rabbit food can only be bought at the port, not on the island, so it is easy to run out. Buy enough before you embark.

It’s the only hotel on the island and it’s worth to spend a night there to take in all the island has to offer. Half board is included with lots of options (no western food though). Staff was really nice and they offered some optional entertainment. The hotel is a bit dated but it’s clean. We enjoyed the onsen (which is also where you have to shower since there are no showers in the rooms). It was great to spend the evening/night and early morning on the island.
Although the hotel is a bit dated and clearly has some history, the room itself was surprisingly spacious. There is a private toilet in the room, while for showering, you need to use the shared public bath/onsen.
Lovely room, beautiful location, absolutely exceptional staff!
Guests should be aware that there are sadly no showers available in the rooms. :(
I loved that it was close to the ferry and the wee beach where we had a gorgeous swim. It was a place we felt we could relax in for a couple of nights after our full on travelling itinerary in more built up areas. We had the most incredible view from our room. The onsen was great and so relaxing. Food was excellent. Bike hire a bonus. Close to rabbit interaction enjoyment too. Staff were so kind and helpful in every way.
Don’t let it out you off but it is a little tired in terms of decor and needing a little investment in doing it up. However I still loved it and loved the character of the place. It wouldn’t put me off going back personally because of everything else positive it offered.

Second time staying here. Dinner and breakfast were amazing. The rabbits are awesome. Would love to stay here for a few days.
Hallway is a bit musty. Hotel a bit dated but is really cool.
Very nice people working here. Evening event at the hotel was a nice touch.
The food really was mediocre at best.
This is a special hotel where you can watch the island rabbits from your room and also enjoy an amazing ocean view at the same time. The rooms are charming and spacious with tatami floors and ample amenities. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, and the breakfast and dinners were delicious!
The hotel was what others described. We were looking for the experience of being on the island with the rabbits and that’s exactly what we got! The shared onsen (only toilet and sink in guess rooms)was great, very clean, with amazing views of the ocean. With everything you’ll need amenities wise. Having laundry was very helpful. Dinner and breakfast at the buffet was very good. Staff was very helpful in making sure we got the shuttle to the ferry to make our Shinkansen connection. Amazing views from the room as all rooms face the ocean. There was ice water, octopus crackers and bags of tea to make. We stayed in a traditional style room. We booked to have attendance come in to roll out our beds. They were very fast. Everyone was so kind and helpful. Met a wonderful older couple that have been coming to the island for 15yrs that made sure to tell us to get rabbit food from the ferry terminal shop in Tadano-umi. When you return the empty bags you get a little gift. There was also a stamp campaign the kids had fun collecting for another little gift once you return from the island to the ferry terminal shop. The history was also very interesting and the views spectacular. It’s an easy walk around the island. Also a few hiking trails with cute rabbits everywhere! The ferry over was super kawai! All pink with a rabbit theme. We did prefer the ferry on the way back as it was the big one that transports vehicles also. Overall it was an amazing experience!
Pool was unfortunately still closed (told it opens in July) Was very dated. Maybe don’t have the same level of tourism they once had. Tennis courts looked to not be maintained anymore. Air conditioning was neat to figure out, but we did. The clothes dryer was very slow to dry.
Our visit to this island (and hotel) was one of the highlights of our trip. The island is beautiful and staying in the hotel gave us a better perspective. The meals provided were delicious and the staff was very helpful in communicating with us.
Nothing!
Bunnies are very cure and run to you for food. Seems like a few more rabbits from one-year ago. Stayed overnight in the comfortable, spacious tatami room. Buffet dinner and breakfast in the restaurant was good.
Room windows were not clean so it was hard to see the rabbits playing outside. Gas museum information would be more interesting and worthwhile if English translations were included next to Japanese written text.
The hotel is located on the Rabbit Island, therefore there are rabbits everywhere- you can feed them, pet them, they are following people everywhere. Really nice place for people who love rabbits. Dinner was exceptional, breakfast was good. Staff does not speak much English but we were using Google translate etc. We booked a traditional Japanese room and the staff made the beds for us. I also tried the spa. Overall it was a great experience in a nice hotel, surrounded by rabbits. We are happy with the hotel and services.
Everything was perfect.
Comfortable rooms and adorable bunnies. Very accommodating staff who were very helpful in giving us directions to get there and in being gracious with us throughout our stay.
I had a very comfortable stay as a solo female traveller. The staffs were very friendly to me and was willing to help me out even though my Japanese was limited. Room is clean and spacious. Food was excellent.
The rabbits! If you like bunnies then this is the hotel for you. They are everywhere and happy to be your best friends if you feed them. The hotel is classic Japanese - slightly austere with an Eastern bloc vibe, but that suits the environment well (as the island was once a poison gas factory). Rooms large and comfortable and food good.
All closes down pretty early in the evening.
We had a fantastic stay on bunny island. The dinner and breakfast selection was great, our room was lovely with a small sitting area, and the onsen was very nice. We were grateful for the shuttle to the ferry as well, which was great with our luggage. We found the island itself to be mysterious and haunting. We loved hiking through the forest to the ruins, but of course most of all, we loved the bunnies. They were so friendly and cute. We would highly recommend and would stay again!
Location and rabbits shuttle bus cafe
Being forced to eat in horrible filthy hall instead of the glass seating area with a nice view I thought there would be a swimming pool it was 31c Maybe an idea to have outdoor seating eating area And I can't believe you dont sell RABBIT FOOD on rabbit island ? You'd make thousands in money 🤷🏻♂️ Ps at the lifts there's a glass panel that I hit my head on why is it even there ?? Some people are tall Please take it down before someone gets a head cut open 🤕
Relatively inexpensive, staff were nice and helpful
Considering they're the only place to stay on the island, the building seems quite old and the facilities seem a bit dated. Things worked, but like just bare minimum, which I suppose is why it costs what it costs.
The site in general.
The hotel is old and some zones are very rundown ( lots of stains in the corridor carpet, metal windows in bad shape due to corrosion)..
located in rabbit island! very good food
outdated facilities. bunny food not available for purchase.
Króliki i brak towarzystw w małym onsenie. Było super, hotel ma swój unikalny klimat.
I love everything about my stay. I want to specifically acknowledge Haruta-san for making both our dinners and breakfasts very enjoyable. He recommended delicious food and was thoughtful during the food service. I'm very happy we got a photo with him!! I also want to acknowledge Tanigawa-san for making our check-in and check-out process seamless. I apologize if I mis-spelled anybody's name! The venue was bright, clean and quiet. Perfect to celebrate our honeymoon together. I greatly appreciated the futon set-up service. It was impressive to watch the skill of the employees who set up our futons efficiently and comfortably. The food was all exceptional. I loved every bite. Of course, I loved the bunnies as well.
I could not think of a single negative aspect about my stay.
If you want to spend more time with the rabbits you don't really have another option - but the staff was very friendly, the meals were good and it was excellent value for the location
The facility is dated but it is the only accommodation on the island, and the rooms are clean and well maintained
BUNNYS
It’s a little bit old but understandable
It is the only hotel in the island. If you want to stay overnight, you'll stay here. I think it is worth staying for the rabbits. The dinner and breakfast buffets were actually large and quite high quality, but...
as vegetarian, the buffets unfortunately had very little for me. Still, they were better than I expected, but not something I'd pay much for. The rooms are quite barebones and cold in the early spring. No rabbit food to be bought.
Friendly, personable staff. Wonderful traditional room and onsen in superb location. Great little nighttime sea firefly demonstration.
This is the only hotel on the island - the island is such a sweet place on account of the rabbits. The island is lovely besides the rabbits, feeling pretty tropical and great views. Dinner and breakfast had great variety in offerings and tasty food. Onsen was nice. Overall we super enjoyed this place. Room was clean with a good ocean view.
The futons in our traditional room were not super comfortable but ok.
We really loved the location! We were able to wake up and go outside to feed and watch rabbits. The food was also great, especially considering its the only available restaurant on the island. They do a great job including foods that Hiroshima prefecture and the surrounding areas are famous for. I also enjoyed the onsen available at the hotel and the roomy Japanese style tatami room.
I feel like it would be helpful if the island also sold some rabbit food. Some people appeared to visit the island but didnt have any food for the rabbits. They looked especially hungry because it was raining that day and not a lot of people visited. I know that there's no food on island so I prepared, but it might be useful to have small bags of food ready just in case other visitors don't realize they need to buy food before taking the ferry.
Stayed here as halfway point on Shimanami kaido bike ride. Had Japanese room. Comfy futons. Dinner and breakfast were amazing, lots of choice and well managed, we chose what time to eat so maybe this helped spread people out over the time. Onsen was good - indoors one. We had no shower in our room so had to use it. Lovely facial products and hair products to use in onsen area. Lots of rabbits around, a few with injuries or sneezing but pretty healthy for a wild rabbit population. Very friendly rabbits. Ferry easy to catch and runs regularly. Interesting history museum of the island.
The hallways could be updated. Maintenance work could be done on some areas of the island.
De unieke locatie, het eten.
Eigenlijk niets
Dinner buffet was great. The bunnies everywhere was so wonderful.
Bunnies… obviously! The room was bigger than we expected. And nice traditional Japanese style. Yummy dinner with lots of options
Nothing
The staff, in particular Fujimoto, were very helpful and kind
Obviously the charm and novelty of this resort is The Rabbit Island, so being surrounded by the rabbits as you walk the area is one of a kind experience. The view of the ocean with the hike of the nearby area is wonderful too! Night time was so quiet and away from light pollution so it was beautiful at night too.
It is not the property’s control but the timing for us was that the some of the hiking areas were closed due to Landslides and such. There are a few things that could be updated like the facilities - something just seems older, but still functional.
