Reviewed Aug 10, 2026Geweldige locatie en een bijzonder gebouw met prachtig uitzicht. De architectuur heeft verassende elementen en je ziet het gebruik van lokale natuurlijke materialen terug. Op het balkon was er een hangmat. Heerlijk.
Er was geen airco, maar wel ventilatoren.

Reviewed Aug 2, 2026Lo ecológico y Natural que estaba sin perder la comonidad, y el disfrute, además de lo tranquilo que estuvo y lo bueno que estuvo las piscinas naturales.
A la hora de hacer el check-out hubo una confusión, la aplicación mencionó a las 3 pero nos dijeron a las 1, además cuando hicimos el check-in un personal en específico pareció un poco desorientado y no nos supo explicar con claridad.

Reviewed Aug 2, 2026El personal es muy muy atento, nos encantó el servicio, camareros, recepción, limpieza, todos son un encanto. El alojamientos es muy bonito, en plena naturaleza y tienes acceso a las piscinas naturales. La comida es muy rica y estuvimos muy cómodos, sin duda repetiríamos.

Reviewed Jun 3, 2026Me gusto mucho el diseño. También su ubicación con respecto al parque nacional los Haitises Buena comida, varias veces toco buffet y todo super bien. Logramos ver varias de las aves endémicas de la zona. Nos hizo un excelente clima, perfecto para visitar el parque nacional los Haitises y estar en las piscinas.
Lástimosamente para personas adultas mayores hay muchas gradas y cuestas. El parqueo de arriba estaba ocupado por un grupo de carros Buggy de arena que llegaron justamente los días que estuvimos.

Reviewed May 20, 2026Vue à couper le souffle. situation au milieu du parc des Haitises avec une " piscine" qui est en fait un jeu de bassins avec la rivière: chutes d'eau et éclairage de nuit féérique. Accueil du personnel et du guide agréé aux petits soins. Nous avons même joué aux dominos avec notre guide! Nous étions seules dans cette hôtel qui reçoit jusqu'à 200 personnes. Grand calme avec le chant des oiseaux au petit matin. Une très belle étape nature sauvage.
L'accès une piste de 25+42 kilomètres avec la route en construction et des déviations pour 4*4. Voitures basses s'abstenir. SUV OK!

The hotel also put us in touch with their guide Wilfried, with whom we spent a nice day in the national park. I definitely recommend this place!

Reviewed May 1, 2026A Hidden Paradise in Nature We spent two unforgettable nights at Altos de Caño Hondo, nestled in the heart of Los Haitises National Park, and it truly felt like stepping into a hidden paradise. The setting is simply breathtaking, surrounded by lush jungle and spectacular natural pools cascading down the hillside. Our room was spacious and full of rustic charm, even including thoughtful touches like a bathrobe. I especially loved relaxing in the hammock on our balcony, taking in the beautiful views of the savannah, forest, and distant sea, while listening to the soothing sounds of birds, the river, and waterfalls. The architecture is a work of art in itself — natural, unique, and perfectly integrated into the landscape. The staff were incredibly humble, kind, and attentive, which made the experience even more special. The food was delicious, and waking up to the sounds of nature each morning was pure bliss. Being in such a pristine forest environment, it’s only natural to encounter lizards, butterflies, insects, and mosquitoes — all part of the authentic experience of staying so close to nature. The hotel also kindly put us in touch with a taxi driver, Mr. Edwin, whose service was excellent and highly recommended. He picked us up from Punta Cana and later took us to Santo Domingo, making our journey smooth and stress-free. If you’re looking for a unique eco-lodge experience away from the crowds, this place is truly something special. Highly recommended — a magical escape into nature.
What I didn’t like On one night of our stay, the owner of the neighbouring hotel, Paraíso Caño Hondo, was celebrating a birthday. As part of the event, there was very loud music, including both a DJ and a live singer. Unfortunately, the noise continued late into the night and was so loud it felt as if it were inside our room. My husband, myself, and other guests at our hotel were unable to sleep. It felt quite inconsiderate and disrespectful to those staying nearby, especially in such a peaceful, nature-focused setting. While lively celebrations may be part of the local culture, the property also promotes itself to international visitors who may not expect or appreciate music at that volume until 3am. Apparently, this is not an isolated incident, and even the management of Altos de Caño Hondo has raised concerns with the owner of the neighbouring property, but it seems little regard has been given to resolving the issue.

La nuit du 29 il y avait l’anniversaire du propriétaire de l’établissement voisin. La musique était très très très forte jusqu’à 2:15am impossible de dormir. Le pire s’était que les gens de la place s’avait que cette fête allait avoir lieu. Comme prix de consolation on nous a crédité le petit déjeuner alors que c’est l’équivalent d’une nuit qu’on aurait dû recevoir.

Despite being surrounded by nature, the rooms are very clean and we didn’t encounter any animals inside. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent, and the restaurant offers a lovely view. The hotel is also very conveniently located, just a short distance from the pier where tours to Los Haitises depart.

Reviewed Apr 5, 2026La vista de la habitación es espectacular, balcón grande, la hamaca y lo aislado para la tranquilidad. El embarcadero para tomar los botes a los haitises es muy cerca El toque rústico está perfecto porque se siente campestre, pero hay mucho descuido en general.
No hay atención a los detalles: los Avisos a las habitaciones son en papel, llave de la habitación es una taza oxidada con el nombre de la habitación escrito a mano, hacen retoques de pintura y dejan manchas de pintura y barniz por todos lados, manijas de habitación y duchas en mal estado. Lo peor de la propiedad es que Permiten daypass y el área de la piscina se convierte en un colmado con musica muy alta. Imposible ir durante el día si buscas tranquilidad. La atención al cliente en recepción, debe mejorar: ni ellos mismos se toman el tiempo de leer las condiciones bajo las que reservó el huésped, y si no les demuestras que estás en lo correcto, te hacen pagar por cosas que ya incluyó tu reserva. El internet es fatal Los colchones son muy incómodos, no hay caja fuerte, no hay nevera en la habitación y tampoco te permiten tener una neverita portable. (En ningún lado dice que no es permitido) La comida en el restaurante no es variada, lo limitan la mayor parte del tiempo a buffet y es muy malo y caro para lo que es.

Reviewed Mar 30, 2026Wer die Natur liebt, findet hier einen fast schon magischen Ort der Stärke, an dem sich das Hotel wunderbar harmonisch in die Landschaft einfügt. Besonders hervorheben möchte ich meinen Guide Mr. Wilfred, den ich wärmstens empfehlen kann! Da ich ohne Auto reise, hat er mich freundlicherweise in Sabana de la Mar abgeholt und trotz meiner einstündigen Verspätung dafür gesorgt, dass ich die Tour noch machen konnte. Die Tour durch die Mangroven und Höhlen war extrem informativ, voller Vögel und wurde perfekt durch eine Erfrischung in den wunderschönen, naturnah gestalteten Pools fußläufig vom Hotel abgerundet.
Ich würde empfehlen ein Zimmer mit Balkon zu nehmen, um die Traumaussicht besser genießen zu können.

Eigener sehr guter Guide für den Park (Winfried), Naturpool ANMERKUNG: Eigenanreise zum Hotel nur mit SUV empfohlen
Vor 30 Jahren, als die Lodge gebaut wurde, waren Ventilatoren noch an vielen Orten in den Tropen Standart. Heute ist man das nicht mehr gewohnt. Die Zugluft wird als störend empfunden, morgens läuft die Nase. Bei der nächsten Renovierung empfehle ich dringend den Einbau von Klimaanlagen, auch wenn die Zimmer dadurch ein paar Euro teurer werden. Die Gäste zahlen das gerne...

Food is restaurant was ok but could be better, apart from restaurant there isn’t really anywhere to sit and have a drink.

Les 10 km de piste pour atteindre l'hôtel depuis Sabana de la mar sont très pénibles Le confort des chambres est un peu rustique (pas d'eau chaude, pas de clim, drap du dessus à mettre soi-même, ...)

… but when I checked in they demanded $60 for my kids. I had booked a room with 3 beds, max capacity 6 adults. I was traveling with my husband and kids, ages 8 and 11. And when we checked in, they didn’t honor the price I paid on booking.com but instead demanded $60 extra for the kids, for one night!. And food and drinks were not included, so there is no reasonable excuse for this. Just $60 extra to allow my kids to sleep on the beds in the room I had already paid for.

La cucina sia per orari che per qualità dei piatti. La struttura appare lasciata andare nonostante il potenziale evidente. La pulizia in generale ok ma abbiamo trovato in paio di dettagli su cui è meglio sorvolare. Manca, a volte, l'acqua calda; si può comprendere vista la posizione ma dovrebbero avvisare.

Especially great for birders, since the rare Ridgway’s Hawk and many other interesting species can be seen easily around the lodge. The food is great for a good price and the staff super friendly. Of course you have to expect difficulties if you don’t speak Spanish, but if you try enough, you always get what you want. Also I have to mention the amazing views from the rooms and properties!
There was no AC in the rooms, only a fan. Hot water was not running.

Reviewed Aug 28, 2025Buen personal y gerente. Todos sonríen. Hay muchas prohibiciones. Nadas hasta las 6:00 y luego te echan. La seguridad es buena.
Por la noche, en el bar, no beban ron. Echan veneno y químicos en botellas caras que pueden matarlos o volverlos locos. Llaman a la policía. No hay descanso, muchos policías los esposan. Mejor en Bávaro. Ya no quiero estar en este lugar aterrador. No es para turistas de otros países. Cuídate, quédate en Punta Cana en buenos hoteles con buena comida y alcohol. Que tengas unas buenas vacaciones sin sangre y lágrimas.
