Choophorn House

Lovely cheap and cheerful family run place. Stayed a month. Will do so again next year. Recommended.

What a great place ! Superb value and great food . 99 bhat for a Mojito 🤯. There’s also a free pool table making it great if taking kids . The location is on the quieter end of Kata which is great for getting some peace from the Main Street . Please try !

Nära stranden, restauranger, tyvärr ingen pool

My parents booked this hotel as part of a dream, multi trip Thai holiday that they had saved up for years to enjoy. Sadly my mum had a stroke on Thursday and is unable to fly for 6 weeks so unfortunately had to cancel. They had pre booked 4 other hotels in Thailand, 3 of which gave full discounts, including the airline which was appreciated and helpful given the circumstances. Despite giving over 3 weeks notice this hotel flat refused to offer any kind of refund, or explanation and will now most likely sell the room again to line their already greedy pockets. If you’re considering this hotel I would think twice, if this is the way they treat people in my parents situation imagine how they’ll treat you during your stay. Absolutely disgusting.

We thought this hotel would be better than what it was. A lof of amenities were old, and some not working. It wasn't conveniently located and it was always noisy (despite stating 'soundproof rooms". The staff were great though, so that was a positive.

We stayed at this hotel for 17 nights over the Christmas period. We had a superior room on the second floor which was very good . The room & bathroom was spacious with a lovely balcony. Room was cleaned every day to a good standard. All the staff were very friendly & helpful with a lovely bar & restaurant below. Thank you all for a lovely holiday Bev & Mark

Veldig hyggelig personell. Veldig hjelpsomme. God service, fin beliggenhet, rent og fint rom.

Better find in kata best to see Thai culture and best ever Thai dishes . I have been try many time positive creative and friendly talk with owner family. Especially Khun Jeab also room rent great opportunity. I love this place with nice music and variety country talk

Nice family run hotel. Good valye for money. Nice area, near to the beach, but quiet village vibe.

We had booked Superior room but got a room from the ground level that was not near what we paid for. The room smelled so much mold that I got an allergic reaction after a few hours in the room. We asked to change the room but all rooms were full that night. We had to pay another hotel in the near to sleep that night. Next day we were able to change to Deluxe room on the 4th floor which was much better. The hotel is in good location near the beach and the main street in Kata beach. But in overall, this hotel is too expensive for it’s quality and services.

The room was clean, ac was cold, staff were friendly. The restaurant was very good. Great location with lots of dining options and about a 7 minute walk to the beach. I would recommend staying here as I thought it was good value for the money.

We were looking for somewhere to eat and stumbled across this place. My husband had the cheeseburger I had a cheese and ham sandwich both with fries. We had 2 cokes and I also had the mojito cocktail which was on offer for just 89 Bahts. All was delicious and well presented. Service was excellent too and always with a smile. Thanks again for a lovely experience.

Excellent structure, really nice welcome, I had a great time before the renovation, really good like all the Thai people ❤❤❤moped rental safe breakfast amazing beautiful environment all clean with attention to detail wonderful really wonderful excellent

Fantastiskt boende. Bra mat.

Personalen var fantastiskt vänliga och serviceminded!

It was a very nice and proper accomadation next to the Kata Beach. The manager of the hotel is very helpful and interested for the concerns of the customers. Also the staff of the hotel were very friendly to us.The food in the restaurant where you can eat traditional Thai food for a good price was very tasty. Thank you very much for the great time and the feel in the accomodation like home in Thailand.

Three nights in the superior room on the 3rd floor of the road. The car making a lot of noise and orher noises. Breakfast is not eaten because it is just toast. Convenient because it is close to the beach and convenience store is right next to it. The bed shakes like a water bed and feels dizzy.

Stayed here for 2 nights. The location was great, but the room itself, not a nice. From reading other reviews you’re better off staying in the better rooms and not the standard first floor rooms that need upgrading. The A/C is great and mini fridge works well. Beds were comfy. The door to the room doesn’t even close properly allowing bugs and extra noise in. So so many bugs. The towels we were given didn’t even look clean, mine had marks on it (refer to pictures) and they went even white anymore. The bathroom was in need of a renovation, in fact the whole bottom floor rooms are. The toilet gun was rusty and so were the sinks and shower head. Overall, I probably would stay here again, opting to stay in the better deluxe rooms for a bit extra. But the standard room I wouldn’t recommend

I stayed here for 11 nights it's located on a quiet street in Kata within walking distance of the beach, shops restaurants and bars. The breakfast is good, whatever you do, do not ask for bacon...! You'll get a shock...! The restaurant also cooks delicious Thai food. This hotel doesn't have night time security but at no time during my stay here did I feel unsafe. I'd stay here again.

Thanks madame Suppatana. Love it. I want come back. My best kind regards. Give a kiss from me to my girlsfriend Ky because i love shi. Drink watermeloon for me in the beach Ky and make party i hope togheter. I hope the best for Thai people.

Service was great. Owner arranged for transportation services from airport to hotel (for cost) when requested. It helped us as we were not clear on options. During the stay host look after well. No complaints. Location of place is nice. Close to Kata beach. Transportation in Phukett was not great (not issue with hotel) Hotel is old and room are very outdated. The rooms had some strange smell. Amenities wise not so much.

För MIG perfekt. Reser för stranden, maten o folket. Hotellet har mat o bar. Oerhört tjänstvillig personal. Inget ” sitter fast” .

Alles was man braucht ist vorhanden, Parkplätze, Moped, Auto, Restorante, Bar... einfach sehr gut.

First came here in 2011 when it was just a house and the front area was converted into a little restaurant. The food then was fabulously authentic Thai so we thought we'd try and find it again. We did, yes it's now extended and most of the reviews are about the accommodation which we can't vouch for. But dinner -- amazing ! Nothing has changed on that front but don't come if you don't want authentic Thai spice at authentic Thai prices ... go down the front and eat with the masses bland watered down food instead !! Highly recommend the Thai staples of Red and Green Curry (soup) Pad Thai and loads of beer and rice !

We booked standard rooms with breakfast included. The room was not fancy but OK, with a rather big balcony facing the garden. The room was cleaned every day nicely. The locations was perfect, close to both Kata and Kata Noi beaches and some very good restaurants. What we missed were the shelves and the hand towels. Despite we booked the room with one big bed, tehnically they were just 2 small beds put together. We also highlighted that very good wifi connection is essential for us (as we had to work from there), but it was disconnected many times, there was a half day outage, we don't know why... and lastly the breakfast... On the first day we went down to the restaurant (leaving our key on the table so that they know we are house guests). A Waitress came and handed over a menu (A,B,C) with breakfast options without price and asked which one do we want. We made our choices, got 1 toast with jam and a small omelette + 1dl orange juice (from syrup) and finally they charged us for the breakfast. We asked why? Breakfast should be included in the room price! They said well, yes, except the egg! So basically we got the breakfast for the same price as restaurant only guests... and what they call as breakfast includes: 1 toast with jam and 1 dl orange syrup. This is a JOKE, you should stop calling this breakfast... charge more but do provide a proper breakfast OR do not say that breakfast is included in the room price as this is pretty much misleading!!!

This hotel is a very good budget option if you would like to avoid the busy hotels in the main street. It is not fancy at all, very basic, but have everything. I think standard rooms are the best choices as the superior and deluxe rooms are very similar, only a tiny bit bigger, but much more expensive. With that money, you could have a more fancy hotel as well. Most rooms look to a calm garden and some to the hill behind (the hill with the Buddha statue). Most standard rooms look to the garden and it is really nice. You can hang out on the terrace and see some birds and listen the frogs at night. You can also see the sunset. Much better than the traffic and loud music on the main street. They clean the room every day, very nicely. Much better than some hotels in the area. Staff do not speak very good English, but they very polite, helpful and friendly. The location is very good also. Not on the main street, so very calm and friendly neighborhood and everything is still reachable. Both Kata and Kata noi beach are within walking distance and also there are lots of good restaurants and shops in the area. So far it is a 5*rating, but there are few things for what I can not give them 5*. 1. We booked the room with breakfast included. First morning we went down to have the breakfast. We ate 1 toast with jam and a small omelette + 1dl orange juice (from syrup). They charged us 138THB. This is exactly the standard price for this breakfast if you walk in from the street. As it turned out, the included breakfast is the 1dl orange juice + 1 piece of toast with jam. :D If you order anything else, like an omelette from 1 egg as we did, they charge you the full breakfast price as you were a total stranger from the street. When I book the room with included brakfast, I expect that I can have a normal breakfast and don't need to pay for it. 1dl orange syrup + 1 toast does not qualify. I think this is a simple lie. I don't get why they do that, as their price is really competitive, even without the breakfast. We would have booked the room anyway and would have come down to their restaurant for breakfast and dinner. However, after this first morning incident we never came back to their restaurant anymore. There are plenty of good options in the area. 2. There is not mosquito net, but there are plenty of mosquitoes. As I mentioned earlier, the view and atmosphere is nice, but you can not really enjoy it for too long with the mosquitoes around. The net would do wonders. Also I think it would be financially good for the owner. I personally prefer to sleep with no air conditioner and open windows. Here without the mosquito net, I was forced to close the windows and use the A/C all night long. I'm not sure it is good business for the owner. 3. There is no packing space in the room at all. No cabinet, no wardrobe, no shelves. You have to live from your bag during the whole time. 4. Wifi is not bad, but it disconnects very frequently for no reason. Sometimes it is good for hours, but other times it disconnects every half hour. It also happened that it stopped working for the whole evening and next morning, only coming back by next day's afternoon. 5. You can ask for the big bed, but it will be just two small ones pushed together. It is not the same thing.

I stayed in the new part of the hotel, the room was clean and the bed comfortable. Good bathroom and nice balcony. The breakfast was alright- one egg choice (omelett, scrambled eggs etc), toast, juice and fresh fruit. 5 minutes walk to Kata Beach. Close to many restaurants and supermarkets. Fast and easy check-in/ check-out.

TUtto bene buona posizione Buone camere considerando il prezzo. Da migliorare la colazione un po’ scarna.

Litet familjärt hotell, med trevlig personal

Mukava hotelli, hyvä wifi ja palvelu! Sängyt aika kovat ja aamiainen suppea, muutenkaikki kunnossa!

Stayed at hotel nearby and ended up here 3 times in 2 days. Lovely food. Huge selection, very difficult to choose and very reasonable price! Be sad to move on!! Wine only B110 which is ridiculously priced!

This hotel have everything you need and short way to the beach. Nice clean big rooms with wifi. The staff is superfriendly and the food are amazing. You can also rent bike here. Absolut value for the money.

The rooms are pretty big and clean.. Housekeeping is done daily. The room price is economical and budget friendly.. It is just 10 minutes walk to Kata Beach. Downside is it's hosts. They are not so polite and friendly.. They are very professional but quite rude. Another complaint is the complimentary breakfast.. I expected a kind of buffet spread, but the served breakfast was very limited.. Couple slices of bread and juice..

This is a review only of the restaurant - it is pretty bad! I often walk past and some dishes with photos looked enticing, so I walked in. The portion was small (very little seafood in seafood stir-fry), but what is more important is that the taste was horrible. I had to eat something else just to change this taste in my mouth - no excuse for such quality in a place like Kata beach which has so many better options.

Stayed here several times. Nice and friendly staff, rooms are nice and clean and spacious without any luxury. Walking distance to Kata beach. Free wifi and also motorbike for rent. Good value for money.

Well the place is nice and quiet.. the food is ok with price mostly like other places around. The WiFi is ok but why to charge for electricity?? This is ridiculous! I ordered a meal and brought a laptop for work. When I plugged it I was asked to pay 50 bath for using the electricity. 50 bath when a monthly electricity payment is about 400 bath. Isn't it too much? Seems that they don't really welcome those who stay for longer time and order more then one meal!

Nice atmosphere, good food. Staff is great. Make you feel like you are part of the family

We had a good stay at this hotel. Our room was cleaned every morning and one of thre staff members cleaned our clothes for us, as an added service. It's very small and maybe understaffed. The receptionist is also the cook. Their English is limited too which made for some awkward wait times. But otherwise we had what we needed (except shampoo). The hotel is in a good location and the restaurant serves good food. I think most visitors stay for an extended time. Many older couples know the staff at the restaurant and were greeted kindly. Then owner (or manager?) speaks better English and checked us out, served at the restaurant and got us our cab when we left. The breakfast was minimal and they charged us 60 baht for 4 slices of bread. I didn't like that. Everything else was fine.

We booked this hotel for 5 nights commencing 2 February 2015, we arrived approximately 10.30pm on the evening on first sight we wondered whether we had been taken to the right hotel as it did not look the same as the photos it looked nothing like we expected. A member of staff from the restaurant told us where the reception was, we have never seen a reception like it, it was an office behind a small glass sliding door in the wall. When someone finally came to see us we where asked if we wanted a room on the ground or first floor. As it was dark and dismal on the ground floor we agreed to take the first floor room. The stairs up to the first floor was open to the public as they were on the outside of the building and unclean with no one manning the reception anyone could have access. We were shown to our room which was along a corridor which also was dark and dismal and resembled a prison block corridor. When inside the room the member of staff tried several times to put the power on by the key which appeared faulty and very temperamental. The room looked as though it needed a complete refurb, however the bed and sheets were clean. It was when we walked into the bathroom that we decided we could not stop in this hotel any longer than necessary.

Very friendly staff! The resturant had very good food and the scrambled eggs for breakfast were very tasty. Location good, the rooms could benefit from a renovation but it doesent matter if you are looking for a simple room. I will come back.

I've stayed in Kata Beach every year since 2002 to participate in the King's Cup sailing regatta.During this time I have used six different hotels and Choophorn House is definitely my favourite. It has recently been significantly rebuilt and refurbished and the original facility housing a mixture of standard rooms offering fan or air con now boasts 24 air conditioned standard, superior and deluxe rooms.
