Lack of soundproofing combined with location of room meant that you could hear the person talking at a normal volume in the next room, then ontop of that the outside drinking area for the pub is directly outside the window meaning if people are out there, you will hear it. This may not be an issue if you are a deep sleeper or have noise cancelling options.

I didn't know they stopped serving food by 7 on Sunday evening so unfortunately had to leave the hotel again to find evening meal.

Room was very comfortable, exceptionally clean, well equipped with beverages and biscuits, very nice to have the radio on calming Classic FM when I arrived, lovely handwash/shampoo/bodywash etc in bathroom I was only staying for one night after a wedding and didn't book breakfast as didn't want anything big, but there are nice coffee shops nearby and I think I would return for a stay to explore the area another time. The hotel is so central and parking easy

My room was on the ground floor, and looked over a car park, so it was quite noisy with traffic - I arrived late at night so didn't realise this when I checked in It is summer but the duvet was quite a thick winter one, so I did feel quite hot! Perhaps a summer duvet would have been more suitable - with optional blankets rolled up for the cooler nights.

Ein angenehmes, ländliches Hotel in der Nähe des Flughafens Stansted und doch weit genug entfernt. Am Parkplatz kann es eng werden. Ansonsten unbedenklich weiter zu empfehlen.

Moderne Einrichtung und großes Zimmer. Frühstück war mit Buffet und persönlich ausgesuchtem warmen Essen. Das Ambiente ist wirklich "Old school English". Richtig schön.

Ein wenig persönliches Gespräch wäre nicht schlimm gewesen.

Car parking was tight and spaces difficult to get into. There were also spaces unable to be used as cars would be blocked in. DIrections to the car park were very poor, especially as there roadworks just in front of the hotel. Although there was a sign next to the hotel, it was not clear how to enter the car park via the road.

Staff and service were good. Breakfast was good. Room was comfortable, clean and a good size.

Room was not as we had requested, and certainly not like photos on website. A wedding was taking place on the day we arrived - noisy and disruptive. Room was above courtyard and kitchen - noisy and disruptive. Window panes missing, although secondary glazing present. Shower controls temperamental.

The Saracen's Head — exceptional stay! I got the warmest welcome from the moment U checked in— genuinely friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean, with really nice amenities. It’s the little personal touches that make it special though: a handwritten welcome note, a rubber duck in the bathroom that made me smile, and plenty of tea and coffee, so you never run out, with the option of fresh milk from the bar if required. Great location and free parking. Lovely bar and the food looked delicious. Felt cared for from start to finish. Would happily stay again.

The addition of air conditioning would be a bonus, but there was a fan provided and the curtains were closed to help keep the room cool.

We really like the village of Great Dunmow and the Hotel. We stayed there as we had to get a flight from Stansted the next day. Very easy access with a bus stop very close to the Hotel. The room was very clean and comfortable. A lot of amenities close by the Hotel. We'll definitely stay there again in case we need it.

La chambre était tellement chaude que j'ai eu du mal à dormir. La plupart des fenêtres ne s'ouvrent pas, et la seule fenêtre qui s'ouvrait ne le faisait que par quelques centimètres. Il fallait même laisser couler l'eau dans la douche pendant plusieurs minutes avant que l'eau coule un peu plus fraîche. La chambre n'est pas faite pour la chaleur que nous avons cet été.

Generally the staff were lovely and the bed was comfy. Clean and tidy.

I stayed on a Saturday night, and there was a wedding on. The rooms are situated around the courtyard/car park out back, and there was no escaping the noise. DJ till midnight, then people sat outside chatting till gone 1 - until I asked them to go somewhere else. Noise from people getting picked up in taxis, general sounds of people having a good time, which is great except when it is outside your window on a hot night. Last straw was the DJ loudly dumping his gear in the van at 1.15 right outside my window. Night manager couldn't have cared less. Avoid if you want a decent night's sleep.

The room was excellent with, for me, the added luxury of a bath. The garden area provided shade and a pleasant place to sit.

The only disappointing thing was the overcooked fish and chips which were inedible when I had been looking forward to enjoying them in the pleasant surroundings. When I complained I was brought some substitute chips, but still charged the full price. There is no need to cook and re cook chips three times!

Did not know what to expect upon arrival. Car park was a little difficult to locate as the only sign was a tad faded. Car parked ok and upon entering reception we were greeted by pleasant staff . Room was outside not inside the main building and from the outside looks like it needs a spruce up but all was good on the inside. All staff were attentive and dinner was very good. Breakfast the next day had a good choice and was speedily served. Coffee was good as well.

Perfect location for Stanstead Airport and we prefer staying in an independent or small chain to an airport hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful and there was free parking directly outside our room.

Live band were a bit noisy whilst we had dinner but the layout of the place did not allow them to be separated off. They were good for a pub band though. Room was clean but could do with a redecoration/refresh.

החדר היה גדול ומרווח וכך גם חדר הרחצה (רק הכיור קטן). הצוות היה ממש חביב ועוזר בהכל. ארוחת הבוקר טובה וגם האוכל במסעדה בערב היה טוב. היה חניה בחינם במלון והיה נחמד לשוטט בעיירה הקטנה. המלון נמצא כ10 דקות נסיעה מהשדה.

המלון נמצא במבנה ישן שזה מאוד נחמד אבל החדר לא ממוזג. בכל מקרה אנחנו הסתדרנו עם המאוורר הקטן שהיה בחדר.

The bedroom exceeded my expectations. Good bed, plenty of pillows, touches of art deco in decoration (my favourite style). The Roberts radio with soft classical music was an excellent touch. Great bathroom, excellent powerful shower plenty of hot water. Nice products. Very clean. Nice staff, pleasant and accommodating.

Only negative was I wanted a sandwich and light supper. I looked at the lunchtime menu and was told it wasn't available. The evening menu was not what I wanted. Anyway the following morning chef said they could have provided for me. So to sum up a bit more can do would be appreciated, even if they just asked the kitchen. I would have moved to.a 9 or even 10 score.

Rooms were all ready on arrival. Clean and spacious, with requested bath, not just a shower. Arrived in time for dinner for 16 in private dining room. Had pre-ordered from menu; all dishes were correctly delivered, no issues, everyone enjoyed their food. Retired to bar after dinner, where England 1st round World Cup match was on in neighbouring rooms. Enjoyed full cooked breakfast next morning.

It was a rather humid evening, so Air Con would have been useful but many electric fans were provided.

Good cooked breakfast but pricing not clear. Had the same breakfast on two days but was charged different prices. Whilst there is a continental buffet on the upper level of the eating area you are not told about it.

Parking was horrendous. Spaces were small and priority was given to locals eating and drinking in the pub/restaurant who leave their cars there overnight. Quite noisy from car park and poor windows, and whilst the bedroom we stayed in was large the bathroom was tiny. We booked well in advance and requested a walk in shower but our room had a shower over the bath. The reception does not seem to be manned all the time. When I asked if we could extend our stay by one day we were charged far higher cost for the extra night on the Monday compared to the cost per night for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Extractor fan in bathroom works at night but not in the morning so if you have a shower in the morning the smoke alarm goes off as soon as you open the bathroom door. We picked hotel because it has parking but could have done with some details from the hotel prior to our arrival on how to get to the car park as it’s not straightforward if you are not from the area.

This was a convenient location for an overnight stay before an early flight from Stansted Airport. Our room was comfortable and clean. The hotel has it's own car park.

When we went to bed there was some noise below our room from people sitting outside the hotel. The extractor fan in our bathroom was on for hours and didn't cut out. There were only a few parking spaces remaining when we arrived and these were very difficult to access.

Fabulous, from check in to check out. Everything was high quality and the staff were very friendly. We loved it.

No plug sockets by the bed which is slightly odd but apart from that it was damn near perfect.

When I booked a single room at this hotel 17 days prior to my stay I requested a quiet room on the top floor. I did receive this response to my request: "We are pleased to let you know that the accommodation has confirmed they will be able to arrange this for you. There will be no extra charge for this request. " When I arrived i discovered I had been allocated a single room on the ground floor outside the hotel, next to a parking area and reverberating with the sound of the extractor fan above the hotel restaurant. The opposite of quiet. The manager did not check to see if the hotel had responded to my request, just insisted all the single rooms were on the ground floor and that was what I had booked. When I pointed out my request and said I would not be able to sleep in the room I had been allocated due to position and noise and lack of fresh air - could not open a window and no AC I was begrudgingly offered another room on the first floor of the hotel but still overlooking the yard with the extractor fan. I had to pay a premium of £10 for what I already considered an over-prived room at £69. As I was travelling for work the next day and needed a good night's sleep, did not have time to find alterntive accommodation I had to accept. I felt the manager's attitude was unsympathetic and his feeble reason for being compelled to charge me an extra £10 was pathetic.
