Great facilities Good yummy breakfast Comfortable room Ample parking Convenient location near to m18
Very old and out dated
Needs doing up
On beautiful grounds, well presented. Fab fitness centre.
Checkout is 11am. First cleaner knocked at 10.10 and second cleaner just walked in at 10.30. Both were polite and said they’d pop back but felt rushed out. Bathroom floor wasn’t cleaned properly, hair clips and dust left in corners
The staff are very friendly and professional. Should be more signage to find rooms. Also coffee and tea in cupboard with no way of knowing.
The room was clean
No bathrobes No wi fi No shower gel shampoo or conditioner all these was included in the price The prices of the food was extremely expensive Water was cold Would not recommend
Lovely stay ,friendly staff
Unfortunately the people beside us started to argue after midnight which woke us all up but was especially upsetting for my grandson who has autism n it took till nearly 4am to get him back to sleep
10 out of 10 everything
The waitresses and bar girl were very friendly. The evening meal was nice
The general feel of the hotel it didn't feel clean throughout the furniture carpets and it had a musty smell
Clean room
Kids running around slamming doors late into the night
The staff were good although did inform us breakfast was 7am and it’s wasn’t till 7:30 and we had to leave
Hotel is very tired
Gorgeous hotel. Team on reception were lovely.
WiFi signal so poor wouldn't connect. Stained sheets. Small double was more like generous single. No warning about the extremely low ceiling. No plugs near bed. Hooving and staff shouting in the hall way started at 6.30 am
We were guests for a wedding, very pleased with the rates and venue overall. Bedroom was clean, nicely decorated and well maintained from what we could see. Mixing the age of the hotel and theme with the modern style and amenities you’d expect.
Nothing we didn’t like but found the overall hotel layout a bit peculiar, various sets of stairs to access the different areas. That’s purely due to the age of the building and where / how it was built. Nothing to warrant a dislike or to consider avoiding the hotel. We would certainly recommend the property and venue if asked.
Pretty gardens. Places you could sit with friends. Building had character. Enjoyed it as was able to catch up with lovely friends.
Bed v uncomfortable, think mattresses and rooms might need a bit of updating, no aircon so rooms hot. Staff on arrival not very welcoming, helpful or informative of facilities. Maybe because v busy with weddings. Unsure whether I would stay here again.
All good, as always
Room was good
Hotel was understaffed so service was non-existent. Food, dinner and breakfast, was disgusting. Dinner poorly cooked and expensive for what it was and breakfast was cold.
Beautiful old hall, clean with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was good.
Nothing
Perfect stay, great breakfast and lovely setting !
Staff were really friendly and ever so helpful. The facilities on site, including the pool and gym are great and free use of these makes it really good value for money. The restaurant was also great and really tasty food. The furnishings are a bit dated, but the room was really comfortable and, even though there was a wedding on while we were there, quiet too.
Our room had a limited view, but it was quiet.
Pool was lovely. Clean bedrooms. All comfortable.
Everything were amazing

Very friendly, nice breakfast.
Housekeeping could be better.
Lovely stay as usual. Friendly staff, large comfortable rooms, enjoyable free leisure centre, large safe car park. We didn't eat at the restaurant this time but the menu was interesting as always.
The jacuzzi was not as warm as it has been before. The pool was actually warmer! We've not tried the outdoor hot tub as we were not aware of it!
Everything
It was excellent
Easy access and clean
Good value for money for a hotel with leisure centre. Spacious room. Staff at the restaurant- breakfast.
Upon arrival, being asked for £50 damage deposit. When challenged, reception said it’s a new policy just introduced day before. I offered to pay by cash, but they refused. Not a good start. Room service lady opened our room door without knocking (before check out time).
I like the location.
The showers was filthy, the staff was very abrupt and rude
Access to spa facilities, ample free parking
Dinner was very limited and closed very early for an hotel
Location was great, the room was fantastic for the price. Staff are very polite and helpful. Special mention for Claire and Harmony, I hope that's the right names but they will know haha. Good breakfast.
Upper management should consider a better staffing structure, whilst the staff were all brilliant they all looked tired and overworked. Seems to me there are more managers than staff? Jacuzzi in the spa needs the temperature turning up.
Clean and helpful staff
Some areas need improving looking a little seedy in places stair wells etc.
I went to a wedding and the staff did amazing setting everything up. I loved the dance floor
There wasn't much choice in lagers
Great facilities and gym
Not much needs a good clean
How dirty it was and very loud plus checking out they just took card never asked anything pretty rude if you ask me
Room windows filthy & had moss growing on the outside of them. Light in entrance not working. Central heating not working
As above
It needs updating the rooms are really old
Excellent location just off the motorway, made for an easy stay with nice big parking area on site.
Wasn’t clean. The bin in my room had hair coming out of it, as well as some in the bath (see pictures). The extractor fan sounded like someone was drilling the wall. Receptionist just blurted as much information as she could at me in the shortest time possible without actually engaging with me or making sure I understood how to get what I needed from my stay…. TV was total rubbish and outdated, I couldn’t watch anything or change the channels properly. No fridge. WiFi was terrible. Breakfast £16 if you don’t book ahead. No plug sockets or charging ports near the bed so you have to leave your phone on the other side of the room to charge over night….
The Hotel was clean smelt amazing. Beautiful derail m, staff all helpful and friendly and our room was clean also smelt fab and just as on pictures
Nothing we did not like
Horrible room
Poor furnishings
This hotel was amazing value you for money. We stayed bank holiday weekend and looked at prices in Sheffield and they were almost double to what we paid. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. The spa was such a bonus. The staff there were lovely too. We stayed in a family room that was so spacious and really comfortable
Breakfast
Staff on the day. Paid for a exclusive king room.Got degraded to standered room because had dog with me and thy still made me pay KING ROOM PRICE
The location was great for us and the entrance was lovely. We enjoyed using the pool and the room we had was large enough to fit our whole group....
Unfortunately the room was really not what we were expecting. We were booking another hotel nearby but this hotel allowed us to stay in a room together so we went for this. We think the room is maybe not often used, there were a few broken things (blinds/bedside lights/sink blocking) which weren't deal breakers for us as the hotel grounds were lovely and the room was large...however there were really issues with cleanliness. There was a strange smell in the room, food left on the floor from previous guests, milk marks down the side of the kettle and sugar and crumbs over the tea tray. There also wasn't enough mugs etc provided for our group. I did quietly mention it in the evening but sadly nothing was said or done about it. We had been given lots of recommendations to stay here so hoping this was just a one off!
It was nice and secluded.
The last. Night of the stay had to go and get the duty manager as the room above the tv was so loud it needed to be turned down so went to see the duty manager
It’s a beautiful building with lovely grounds
Clean hotel
Shower didn’t work
Bed was comfy and clean. Access to pool. Good breakfast.
Rooms were dated, rotting window frames.
Excellent location friendly staff big room
Was told would order food in the bar then when we ordered was told too busy and no food available terrible service as was travelling with children . Arrived for breakfast 8.30 limited hot food by 8.45 this was not replenished no sausage beans or mushrooms available . Was told by staff not more cold pastries available although a few more were supplied .
Had a lovely stay for my sister 60th birthday.
Breakfast was very nice.
room was very clean and tidy. Loved the leisure facilities.
Good breakfast but could do with more choice of fruit in fruit salad. Bonus was great swimming pool. Good sized room and comfy bed. Definitely stay there again.
The only negative was getting out onto the main road if going right.
Great historic building, great staff and the SPA Facility
Went for breakfast @ 10am it was quiet, but if quiet or busy customers need the same service. Limited fruit on cold counter, fresh juice pots low to empty, coffee canister had cold coffee in it, had to ask for eggs as none available and no chocolate spread the staff member said it ran out the other day.
All suited my needs. Was clean and food tastey

Friendly staff, comfortable rooms and nice swimming pool.
The whole place a bit tired and seemed a bit chaotic. The staff were friendly and helpful, but sometimes didn't seem to know exactly how things worked. The whole place feels like it could do with a bit of love and attention.
Nothing people waz so rude
Evreything was horrid
Location was perfect for us. The hotel was very clean ,couldn't fault any of it. Staff very friendly and helpful. Added bonus of use of swimming pool, steam room and sauna. We will definitely be going back.
Nothing really .
The pool was warm and nice to swim in. The staff member at the pool was very helpful and friendly. In fact all staff aside from one were very nice.
The room decor was a bit tired. There weren't enough towels laid out for the 4 of us. There was a random chip on the floor, and the room had a stuffy and musty smell. It was fine. It just looked tired. There was no soap dish for the soap, and the taps in the bathroom seeped a bit rickety. At the sports centre, the hooks in several showers were broken, leaving nowhere to hang one's towel, and nothing seemed particularly clean. Finally, the breakfast was woefully over-priced with no option to have a cheaper option, but that's our own fault, we knew this and had it anyway.
The receptionist was lovely, staff in the pool area was helpful and friendly & food was very nice.
A staff member (Darren) was very rude that was working in the bar/restaurant. I felt like an inconvenience just trying to get a drink.
Friendly staff, comfortable beds, spacious family room and our 5 year old loved the swimming pool
Exec room was very spacious.
Breakfast
The staff were amazing. The were great with young children. Couldn't do more for you if they tried. All very friendly and for this reason I highly recommend this hotel.
Some of the rooms slightly dated
The hotel room Morrell was amazing the views were beautiful you could see the rabbitts from your window on the fields the staff were always happy to help and friendly.
There could of been a bell at the bar as was waiting there half hour one night. Had to walk to reception for service which is a walk in the rabbit warran hotel.
Handy for M18 Spa facilities good. Room was nice. Night staff really friendly.
All ok.
Friendly staff Felt welcoming and warm Spacious room well equipped and comfortable Plenty of parking Good that pool use was included
A bit dated in places No plug sockets or charging points near bed
We stayed here for a wedding, so didn’t spend much time in the room or the facilities. We did take a little sneaky look around and they have a great pool and spa centre, which we definitely would have used if we had more time! The room was quite large and very comfortable, but a little outdated. It was clean, but it felt as though it had been used many times before. The breakfast buffet was fabulous and the staff were very friendly!
The room was dated and needed a good update, but overall it was very clean and comfortable!
This is at least the 5th time I’ve stayed here. Location and price are enough to bring me back again. Breakfast was great, very well presented and freshly cooked.
Evening meal wasn’t great and overpriced. Fish and chips were overcooked. Prawn and pasta sauce had split and wasn’t served hot. There was plenty of food on both dishes - but sadly it wasn’t tasty or cooked well enough to match the price tag.
All staff we encountered were friendly, helpful and professional. The room was a great size and mostly clean. We found a champagne cork on the floor from previous guests, the duvet was badly stained and the shower curtain smelt slightly. Otherwise everything else was clean. The swimming pool and changing area was clean with excellent showers. The hotel is in an excellent location with easy driving access to local facilities and attractions.
My companion is vegan, there were no options on the restaurant menu for them, we were even told that the advertised vegan starter was actually not vegan. Could do with a few more tables and chairs in the outside bar area.
Location was very good for our visit
Very dated and had a few house keeping issues. Bathroom mirror lights not working and a few of the ceiling lights were out. No air conditioning, understandably it’s a listed building. A fan was in the room but was very dirty, Old Cobwebs on dressing table. View out of window looked on to bin area which looked absolutely filthy. Doesn’t give a good look for the rest of the hotel unfortunately.
Very helpful staff friendly and nice good parking
The cost of drink's was very high not a cheap place to stay
We received a friendly welcome on arrival and were given plenty of advice regarding facilities, location of bar and restaurant and room. The swimming pool was very much appreciated as the weather has been very hot and, although we didn't use it, the gym looked very professional. All staff from reception to bar and restaurant were friendly and helpful and the meal we had in the restaurant was very tasty and well presented.
As the weather has been very warm it would have been nice to have air conditioning in the room but at least there was an electric fan which proved invaluable. The paint around the windows was in poor condition and ready for a new coat of paint but other than that the room was clean and well presented.
Stayed here many of times for meadowhall and Gulliver's valley. Pool is quite cool but in this heat it was welcomed. Staff were very helpful, especially when we had to keep asking for help with the heat in our room which they went above and beyond to make us comfortable. Pool area is clean and kid friendly. It's just very Ideal for a mini vacation vibe.
Nothing not to like. The rooms are not air-conditioned, which is hard in this heat but let's be honest many hotels/b&bs aren't so you just have to cope.
Lovely place to relax, even with children, after a day at Yorkshire wildlife park. The grandchildren5 and 9) loved the pool do much they got up early to swim before breakfast.
One table light flickered when turn on but we just reported it .
Facilities were good and the room was massive
The room wasn't clean.
The spa facilities were amazing.
The room wasn't very clean. Walls are thin, we experienced a very noisy overnight stay as there was a wedding at the hotel, so the noise was going on late into the early hours. The lights kept crackling and turning on and off.
Lovely place to stay.
Room ok
Poor restaurant nothing ready and gresdy
The location was absolutely perfect for what we needed and where we needed to go.
The key card kept disconnecting so we had to go back to reception to get it rescanned.
The meal we had in the restaurant was very good, and the staff were very pleasant and attentive.
Nothing springs to mind.
All good.
nothing
Well situated, just off the motorway, but down a lovely quiet lane. Easy to find… Easy access into town/city…
Nothing… Lovely property…
Lovely setting and very helpful and friendly staff
The pool area and sauna looked a little tired and the steam room was out of action. The pillows on our bed weren't great.
Fantastic staff, location, facilities. Staff happy to above and beyond. Beautiful hotel.
Walls a little thin, so could hear other residents. Tv a little small for family room.
Staff were friendly and professional. Breakfast was poor. Dinner poor.
Little choice at breakfast and poor quality.
The outside and surrounding areas
Small room. Marked sheet on the bed. Unable to open a second window for air.
Loved the setting of it - loved the pool area and little cafe
Bedroom was comfortable
People walking through restaurant to bar. Busy wedding meant we felt sidelined. Rushed out of dinner as busy with wedding meal
This was my first stay in Hellaby Hall hotel and I must say this was one of the best hotels I have stayed in UK. The hotel has a beautiful lawn, unique architecture and excellent facilities. The family room size was quite good and we had a excellent stay. Its a value for money and would highly recommend this hotel.
We liked the charm of the old buildings. We appreciated the late check-in option. The pool was great!
Our shower drain overflowed if you let the shower run more than 20 seconds. Our room had no towels. They were brought quickly when we alerted the front desk.
Breakfast was really good.
Hotel is a little tired in places - but overall a nice stay
Lovely pool and facilities. Really cosy and smart room.
Noisy people outside my room at 1230am, but this isn't the hotel's fault.
The location where its based The staff were amazing and friendly to talk to The bed was comfortable The gym manger was so polite and helpful, greeted me as if we was friends, such an amazing person
There was no tea and coffee in the rooms Didn't have any shampoo when they topped it up The bed sheets were the same sheets I had the day before (I accidentally spilt food on the sheets, and it was there throughout my stay) Need more signs on the entrance as I got lost and weren't sure where I was going, I thought the swimming area was the entrance The lamps in the bedroom wasn't working Also took awhile for the main lights to come on
Staff were pleasant enough but that’s prob where it ends
Very run down, grubby, dirty, blood stains on the shower curtain, smelt of smoke, half the plug sockets and lights in the room didn’t work. No aircon.
The facilities are the best feature for me, they have a lovely leisure centre available to use
The rooms are slightly dated but still nice & clean
Staff vary good, nice cook breakfast ,pool and spa facilities are good
Property is very old very tired bit worn out
Everything. Loved the setting, the gardens, the hotel, the pool. Best night's sleep ive had in ages. Loved watching the rabbits our of the window. It was really good value as well!
Can't think of anything really.
Location Grounds Pool Breakfast
Room bit outdated Not very clean bathroom - found bits of rubbish on floor
Clean and comfortable, staff very friendly and accommodating as it was a late booking for work travel
N/a
It was close to the motorway
Not 4 star at all, shower didnt work properly, had to get up twice through the night to run taps and flush toilet as we were met with loud plumbing humming. Staff were unpleasant
Good location, lots of parking
Very strange layout, lacked any atmosphere. Staff need to learn how to turn off door alarms at 6am
The staff were all absolutely lovely xxx Top marks!
Bed was worn out and uncomfortable, the room furniture was shabby and some of it broken, the carpet was stained. Evidence of thorough cleaning, but black mould still evident in shower.
