Beautiful hotel. Clean and spacious rooms with fantastic views. Amazing facilities ... the pool/spa/sauna complex is incredible. Excellent location right on the beach and near shops, restaurants and entertainment. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

This was our second time and the hotel remains comfortable and well located. The Chinese restaurant stays open until 10pm, handy for later arrivals and is excellent - try the mixed crab and duck soup. The evening buffet restaurant offers a good spread with very friendly staff. The jacuzzi, gym and swim facilities are excellent with sauna. The balcony with sea view is very relaxing. Cleanliness and decor.

Despite the busy breakfast, juices took too long to replenish. WiFi very poor.

No English speaking channels at all on TV, not even CNN or HBO...poor for a 5* international hotel.

I didn't like the deposit. It wasn't written about anywhere in the booking. It would be fine if it was small, but it was 50% of the cost of accommodation. I don't mind the deposit as such, but it would be better to warn about it in the description. Plus, the money was returned to the card for a very long time, more than 5 days

To call this a 5 star Shangri-La is a not accurate. After checking in to our paid upgraded room we noticed the AC wasnt working in the bedroom (had a big room with seperate living room). the engineers arrived and quickly fixed so that air was coming out, however we notice that it was not cool air but just natural air as they call it. keep in mind this is in end of May where temperatures are between 22-28 degrees outdoors with the sun constantly on the rooms. I was told that cooling would not be turned on until mid June or later, which is insane. After several calls and threats to leave the hotel they finally agreed to turn on the AC (big thank you to miss Kong in the receptions, without her this stay would be a big disaster). the cooling was however not too powerful since other guest might "find it cold". So naturally the hotel lobby was never cooled either. The breakfast downstairs is OK at most, but definetly not worthy of Shangri-La, there are not even enough seats for people to sit. the lounge room on the top floor only had breakfast during weekends, which was also poor quality. The AC in the gym was always turned off so you need to tell them to turn it on, and it takes forever to cool down. The indoor pool had rules that you need to take shower before going in, yet it seems that nobody cared about those rules. the hotel area is a garden with some kids zoo which was too small for the animals. there are no sunbeds in the area and no beach that belonged to the hotel.

De hal was niet echt verwarmd, zodat het een 'koele' entree was en het welkomst-gevoel ontbrak. De dag erna hinegen meerdere mensen met jassen aan in de steoleln, wachtend op een conferentie of een huwelijk - leek meer een stations hal. Vriendelijke staf, vlotte afhandeling bij inchecken en uitchecken. Ruime kamer, met balkon, uitzicht over strand en zee. Schoon. Prima bed. Heerlijke warme douche. Snelle liften. Het hotel is niet gericht op buitenlandse bezoekers: zeer beperkte kennis van het Engels, geen internationale tv zenders, ontbijt vooral chinese gerechten (met een paar internationale gerechten, zoals yoghurt en eieren en brood van een paar dagen geleden), buitengewoon onvriendelijke bediening (op het groffe af) aan het vers-station, gelukkig wel hele vriendelijke dames die de tafels afruimden. Het was fris binnen, zodat meerdere bezoekers met dikke jassen en petten op aan tafel zat - geeft niet echt een gevoel van een vijf sterren ambiance. In de lounge hele beperkte service, ook weer gericht op Chinees publiek, dat bovendien op de gerechten 'aanvalt' zodra het happy hour begint. Mooie selectie van verse thee-soorten. Al met al is dit geen 5 sterren hotel, eerder 3 sterren plus.

It is really nice and the service is beyond perfect.

By international standards it is a very different beach hotel :) Expect no beach facilities, not even a place to sit and enjoy the beach in the garden, no facilities to dry your swimwear… really surprised the hotel on the beach does not have basic beach services )

Outstanding service

I like the position and decor of my room and the great view from the windows looking at the beach/bay and garden. The staff were helpful and courteous. I and my elderly mother enjoyed our stay.

I recommended to the Customer Service that there should be a sphygmomanometer should be available for Emergency Help, due to the fact that the society is becoming an elderly society and more elderly people may have the need to help them monitor their health during their stay at ShangriLa.

Location is excellent for the beach. Room had sea view and garden view, which was special and very relaxing.

Room carpet could have been hoovered more regularly. The Hotel should have a sphygmomanometer available for guest ms in case of emergency.

The location

Staff do not speak English, you can't even order food. I have been to Shangri La pre covid and they were very welcoming, friendly and you could communicate with them. This time it wasn't possible to communicate even during check-in, as most of their staff do not speak English.

The hotel property is stunningly situated with great views of the ocean and the room was airy and pleasant. I enjoyed a walk in the hotel gardens in the evening and a drink in the lobby lounge afterwards. I opted for in-room dining at dinner and had no complaints for the promptness of service or quality of the food. The service at Cafe Qin though almost makes me want to never revisit this hotel. I observed the chaos from the first moment - more than could be blamed on a typical weekend busy morning. The buffet layout made for long lines with items being hard to reach because of the crush of people waiting, dawdling, or seated too close to make passing by easy. Food signage was almost non-existent and with staff ignoring my attempts to get their attention, I was unable to ascertain which items did not contain pork or order a custom vegetarian omelet. As a solo traveler, there is always a moment of trepidation on returning to the table after getting food and sure enough, the staff had removed my belongings and given my table to other guests. I was reseated with another family. The overall quality of this restaurant experience, from the food (I ended up getting some baked goods and on the second trip to the buffet, fruit) to the dine-in service, was so bad that I highly recommend the management to review their practices and ensure that this hotel remains worthy of being deemed five-stars. I would like to revisit if I'm in the area, but will likely stay clear of Cafe Qin.

Super location, lovely clean spacious room, staff welcoming and spoke good English. Breakfast buffet was excellent and the view from the balcony was beautiful!

Unfortunately, I got disappointed with my experience. Hotel rated as 5 star... and it probably was like 10-15 years ago. Now it looks worn, I found chops and defects all around the room. Same about swimming pool. Hotel located in front of the public beach. There no umbrellas for hotel guest's only in there. Roof in one half of the children's playground was leaking during the rain. It wasn't what I expected for the price I paid.

My experience at this hotel was amazing! The staff is highly professional, the food was delicious and the room was very spacious and clean! all the staff were on point. They were friendly and helpful, and most of them can speak English. One outstanding member of staff named ZARA ZHAO the front desk manager She greeted us upon arrival and made our stay comfortable and relaxing and helped me suggest some good places in the City to go.

Travelling for business in China these days is tricky, the english agent Lulu went above and beyond her role in assisting my efforts to be present in Qinhuangdao for my client. The hotel itself is great for business meetings and also has a good family atmosphere with lots of activities available for children of all ages. As I was restricting my travel around I only ate at the restaurant and top floor members lounge that has an amazing view. All Chinese and Western meals were above industry standard. I highly recommend opening the balcony door just enough to listen to the ocean, it has been a great escape from my typical business travel in China. David

As of my loyalty program, I choose this hotel, not knowing that it’s not at all the same place as Aranya. We stayed 2 days, tried to go to the beach, but it was just an insane chaos of people. Hotel staff are not well trained. Will never return. Finally moved to Aranya and it was a different world.

We are a family with two kids for vacation. The staff knew my wife is having birthday the hotel front gave us a birthday cake. The room is very clean and decent. Breakfast is decent with variety. The hotel is very kids friendly, providing baby bed and equiped with a lot of kids programme and facilities.

The hotel is beautiful.The foods are delicious . The service is very good.And especially, Lydia Li help us to introduce Qinhuangdao view.I enjoyed it. The bed is big and soft and I don't get up every morning. I want to live here again if I come to this city again.

I went to this hotel with my friend and we ordered a double-bed room. It’s really good 👍🏻. The best part is the view. Because it is near the sea and we had a wonderful view and every day we could watch the sunrise and sunset🌇.

Excellent position brings a wonderful view for travelers!!! I would say this hotel is the top choice for the people who wanna have an in-depth tour in this coastal city. During this stay I was pretty impressed by the tasty local food and high quality service. Anyway, highly recommended!!!

总体上讲还是不错的，但和好一些的香格里拉酒店比，管理上还是有差距的。体现在早餐上更明显一些。疫情期间可以理解。大堂早上6点以前竟没有人值班，需要客人大声呼唤。

We visited the hotel for a weekend trip from Beijing. It's nicely located at the beach with balcony rooms offering excellent views. Staff is tremendously friendly even if all procedures in the covid 19 times are a little cumbersome. They are always kind a d friendly. The one thing that's out of the ordinary impressing us the most is their Japanese restaurant. The food and service is simply amazing. Food is fresh, beautifully presented, promptly served. Staff very attentive and quick. Great value for money. They have all you can eat order from the menu promotions starting at rmb 198 per person including drinks. Fantastic. Highly recommended.

The Shangri La Hotel really is the best hotel I have ever stayed in, I am there as I am writing this review, Room is superb, The staff are extremely helpful, The restaurant has something for everyone, Nothing is to much trouble, So anybody thinking of a holiday to China which is also an experience you will never forget, Need look no further than the Shangri La Hotel, Your holiday will be enhanced by this superb Hotel.

Great ambience and excellent service by Wang Yan and Chen Boxin. Good job and keep it up! I really enjoyed my dining experience on this special occasion, Christmas eve. The spread of food here is great, with delicious desserts.

Great stay as always.

We stayed as a family of three with a two year. The hotel is perfect for a family, so much to do and next to the beach. We enjoyed the buffet dinner every night, and it had a play area so we could relax, eat and watch our son play. Excellent service. We will be back again.

Came here for 2 nights for a business conference, was a very wonderful experience. Nice Hotel on the beach, great service, clean rooms and nice welcoming staff. Would stay here again definitely next year when I return.

We, my fiancé and me, both only ate at the hotel that day and had dinner at the Chinese Restaurant. We got food poisoning and stay in room for almost two days to recover. We had to stay one extra night because we where too sick to travel on. Although the hotel offered to bring us to hospital when checking out they refused to acknowledge anything wrong with their food and the manager on duty just said maybe we got a cold and should drink more hot water. No apologies. When asking if they at least can deduct the dinner from invoice (not even the additional night) they were dragging on for about an hour and kept us waiting. So appalling, just unbelievable for any hotel which would claim any star.

This hotel was fantastic minus the heat in our room. We had it set at 5 degrees C and it was still sweltering. The food and the staff were top notch. The staff was beyond helpful in getting these non Chinese speakers anything and everything we could possibly want including a personal taxi to The Wall who stayed and waited 3 hours to drive us back. The views can’t be beat either!!

This is a great hotel. From the vast, spacious, three story high lobby/lounge to the welcoming Shangri La fragrance being pumped through the AC, the amazing view of the beach and bay and on to the sumptuous rooms- this place has it all. Easily one of the nicest hotels I've had the pleasure of staying in. The whole hotel is just plush. Great rooms and big comfy beds with excellent pillows and bedding. lots of outlets for recharging phones and tablets. Breakfast is amazing with a wide array of Western, Chinese and Euro cuisine. The fitness center is one of the best in China and there is a great running/walking path along the beach front that is accessible directly from the hotel. This will be my go to hotel in China in the future.

Top Hotel direkt am Strand. Im Januar zwar nicht zum Baden geeignet, dafür eine sehr schöner Spazierweg am Strand entlang. Falls man nicht im Hotel soeisen möchte: Die nächsten Restaurants liegen ca 20 Minuten Fußweg entfernt. Vielleicht besser mit einem Taxi fahren.

The hotel was nice and comfortable. The area is also nice although the beach had a lot more f seaweed in the water. Good location but we did not find too meant places to eat outside of the hotel restaurants. Good stay overall.

The Shangri La Qinhuangdao has definitely lived up to everything of a 5-Star luxury hotel. It is a brand new hotel with stunning views of the shoreline. We had two executive rooms with sea view and the moment we stepped into the room and out to balcony, we knew we chose the best hotel in the area. The rooms were clean, luxurious, and had the most comfortable beds. The bathroom was huge with everything you can wish for and more. The shower area even has a bench which came in very handy because I have elderly parents that really appropriated the facility. What made this hotel stand out and exceeded our expectations was the excellent staff. Check-in was quick and we were greeted with smiles everywhere (special thanks to Vicky). It was our first time to Qinhuangdao and the hotel staff/concierge provided us with very detailed information/maps of the area and gave us excellent tips of best seafood restaurants that were conveniently located, very reasonably priced, and had awesome seafood (special thanks to Edward and George). We even got help getting train tickets to Panjin to see the Red Beach and hired the hotel's vehicle to tour of Shanhaiguan and Laolongtou after we returned from Panjin. The weather was not cooperating and rained (with hail too) everyday when we were there. However, with the assistance from the concierge, we were able to tour all the attractions we had on our bucket list.

Stayed 4 nights in this hotel in June with great seaview and balcony. The hotel is right on the beach so excellent location but nothing else around the place, at least 10mins walk to any town or shops. It is very new hotel so everything is excellent condition. However... The place is ran by a team of inexperienced staff, especially in the few in-house restaurants and the Horizon Club Lounge. Restaurant staff appears to be day-dreaming on the job with long waiting time for food and just walking around without any attention to the customers. During our times in the restaurant, many people complained. Prices are reasonable. The room is actually very good, clean and bright. However the controller unit for the TV is actually hidden in the back of the set, which is all good and well, EXCEPT the sensor for the REMOTE is also on the controller unit. To change the TV channel you will need to aim and point the remote from the side into back of the TV set. This is not ideal when you are watching TV on the bed!! The breakfast in the Horizon lounge is fell far sort of our expectation with long wait for food and lack of choices available. The staff in the lounge are friendly. The water temp in the shower is not constant and can expect HOT, V HOT, WARM, COLD during your shower time. Overall is the best hotel in Qinhuangdao but I suggest ALOT more staff training required, especially in the restaurants!! Finally, leave quite a lot of time as the checkout took almost 20 mins!!! REALLY?
