De airconditioning die in het huisje ging deed het niet super goed. Maar het was ook ontzettend heet, de nacht dat wij er waren.

Disappointing stay, not as advertised Unfortunately, our stay was very disappointing and did not match the expectations created by the Booking.com listing. One of the main reasons we booked was the breakfast. The listing advertised “Superb breakfast included with all options,” specifically “Continental • Full English/Irish,” and stated that Battens Farm offers “hearty breakfasts” using its own produce and delivers it to the guest’s door. However, only the day before our stay, after the cancellation/refund deadline had passed, we were informed that cooked breakfasts were no longer available. We expressed our disappointment but were reassured that continental breakfast would still be provided. Unfortunately, even that did not happen. In the morning, there was no prepared or delivered continental breakfast. Instead, we found a note telling us there were fresh eggs in the fridge, along with bread and a jug of milk, meaning we were expected to prepare breakfast ourselves. This was very different from what we reasonably understood from the advertisement. There were several other disappointing issues. The accommodation was very cold and the heating did not appear to be working. We tried calling the host but received no answer. The property was also extremely dark at night with inadequate outside lighting, and we had to use the torches on our phones to find our way. We arrived at around 9pm and nobody came to welcome us. A gentleman simply opened an upstairs window, pointed us towards our accommodation and then closed the window before we had an opportunity to ask questions. The following morning, a lady went to the different cottages approaching members of our party for payment without first establishing who was actually responsible for the booking. This was uncomfortable and could easily have been avoided by dealing with payment appropriately with the person who made the reservation.

Posto da incanto, farmhouse all'interno di una fattoria per vivere l'autentica esperienza della campagna inglese. Totale autonomia nel checkin e nel checkout, proprietari mai incrociati ma indicazioni chiare e precise su come gestire tutto da soli. Casa ben tenuta, bellissima e caratteristica.

Purtroppo la colazione lasciava un poco a desiderare. Consiste in uova e pane che trovi al tuo arrivo in cucina e burro, marmellata e latte già presenti in frigo. Purtroppo il latte (che riempiva un quarto di una borraccia, quindi probabilmente già utilizzato da altri era gelatinoso e impossibile da bere). Sarebbe stato più carino trovare le cose fresche al mattino. Anche la pulizia ha lasciato desiderare.. oltre alle numerose ragnatele e ragni (sì è un posto di campagna, ma sembrava fosse tutto lì da parecchio), la pulizia era passabile. Dato il costo e la bellezza della struttura, una maggiore cura sarebbe stata apprezzabile.

The location was great, being on a farm so close to horses and cows. The cottage was very spacious, plenty of room. The owners were very helpful and although they lived, they did not intrude.

Maybe the bed? A little firm for me, but this is purely minor.

Great location to visit local villages in a peaceful setting. The owners were attentive and always happy to help. So private with beautiful horses to wake up to. Really enjoyed staying here.

Perfect location for us as we were attending a wedding at nearby Grittleton. Comfortable cottage with two bedrooms, nice bathroom and good range of equipment in kitchen etc. nice addition of breakfast food, bread, butter, eggs etc. Friendly hosts. Lovely to see the horses.

Property is advertised on being on a working farm which we expected however weather was very hot and we were unable to open the windows in the cottage due to horse flies. Couldn’t seem to get air conditioning in living room to work. However, none of this bothered us that much as we were only staying for one night. Although nothing to do with the property or the hosts the booking.com system does not accurately advise the property as two bedrooms. It’s called ‘one bedroom apartment’ on the booking system which is not correct! Property has two bedrooms, one with a double bed in and a second bedroom with a single bed. We also did not receive any access instructions from booking.com. We phoned the hosts who were very helpful and sent us clear directions and how to get into the property.

We wanted to experience a farm, so we were happy to be able to see some of the farm animals and chat a little with the family members, who were very friendly. The house was large, clean and comfortable and had two good shower rooms. Ingredients were provided for breakfast, which we cooked ourselves.

There were not a lot of cooking utensils/pots and pans in the kitchen and no kitchen towels for drying dishes or hands. The house had a washing machine, but no detergent and no hairdryer. Access to two of the bedrooms was through other bedrooms, which was not a problem in our case, but may be for other people. Some of the windows didn't completely close, but as it was a hot summer's day, it was no problem for us.

Owner swapped us into the disabled access stable cottage, which was perfect for us,as all ground floor . Nice and spacious, lovely looking out onto stable yard and field beyond with beautiful horses . Comfy beds, great shower. Good wi fi . Great that we could book for one night. Highly recommended.

We were expecting a breakfast to be delivered ( as stated in info ) but they’ve had to change the system due to new regulations - instead we found fresh eggs, sour dough bread, butter, jams , milk to make our own.. This was fine , just need to change on info supplied.

Die Lage ist wunderschön, auch das kleine Cottage ist gemütlich eingerichtet und man hat alles was man braucht. Der Betreiber ist sehr zuvorkommend und hat uns ein leckeres Frühstück gezaubert. Gerne wieder!

Excellent breakfast brought freshly cooked to door at time chosen. Both hosts were friendly and easy to chat to. Great location and easy to find. Hot powerful showers in both bathrooms. We didnt do any cooking as out all day every day but there are plenty of facilities. Use of tennis court if you play. Free fast wifi.

The place was an absolute dream. It was very spacious and beautifully decorated. We could see the horses just by looking out the window! The breakfast was delicious, and the hosts were incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive.

Maybe we got the wrong impression from the photos showing sheep, but since it’s a farm, we imagined we would be closer to the animals and able to see different kinds daily. Except for the horses, which we did see, the rest of the farm isn't accessible to guests. So, if you're looking to see animals, keep in mind you'll only see the horses and, if you walk a bit, a couple of cows. That being said, the location, hospitality, and comfort of the place make it truly worth it

Hosts were nice and location was great.

The whole place could do with a good clean and a bit of TLC. There was no air-conditioning in the bedroom and the a/c in the lounge needs gassing it just blew the warm air around the room and most of the windows didn't open as they were either painted shut or screwed shut. I know its a working farm but the flies were constant and the dead flies when we went in were everywhere, a fly screen on doors and the windows that actually opened would have been beneficial.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Battens Farm B&B — truly a 10/10 experience from start to finish. The place itself is incredibly charming and peaceful, with one of the most beautiful sunrises we’ve ever seen. Waking up to soft morning light over the countryside was something really special. The owner was exceptionally warm and welcoming, making us feel at home the moment we arrived. The hospitality here is genuine and heartfelt — the kind that makes your stay memorable. Breakfast was simple yet hearty, and honestly felt like a home-cooked meal. It had that comforting, familiar quality that reminds you of your mom’s cooking — wholesome and satisfying. One of the most magical parts of the stay was the setting itself. There are horses right outside the property — it’s a real working farm, which adds so much character and authenticity to the experience. Everything about this place felt thoughtful, peaceful, and beautifully done. We would absolutely return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a true countryside escape.

The cottage was such a unique experience! The cottage is well maintained and had all the required facilities. Breakfast was delivered hot and right on time and was delicious. Since it is on a farm, we also saw horses and cows. Overall a lovely experience.

Too many flies. Totally appreciate that this is a working farm. I grew up on a farm and am very used to flies and bugs however, there were upwards of 40 large bluebottles buzzing around in our bedroom when we arrived. We opened the window and encouraged them out, clearing the room and closing the window. When we came back in for bed they were everywhere again so I slept on the sofa as there were less flies in the living area. Appreciate that this is a working farm, but this was an uncomfortable amount of flies.

We loved Battens Farm Cottages. We stayed with our 3 children and they really enjoyed the farm, especially seeing the cows and horses through the window whilst eating our lovely traditional farmhouse breakfast cooked by Farmer Mike. The cottage was really clean and had everything we needed for our stay.

We loved the property, but it could probably do with some darker curtains in a couple of the bedrooms. Otherwise perfect.

Perfectly located B & B, very quiet with a great breakfast. The hosts had left contact details should there have been any issues but I did not need to contact them during my stay.

Hacía un poco de frío en la habitación. Pusimos la chimenea, pero no se notaba mucho. En Booking debería indicarse que tiene cocina, porque de haber sabido que había fuegos, horno y nevera, habríamos llevado cena a casa. En las fotos y en la descripción no pone nada de ello. No queda muy bien dejar los jabones usados de los anteriores inquilinos en el baño o que dentro del microondas haya una taza con bebida que no ha sido limpiada. Denota falta de limpieza. La colcha de la cama pequeña es de un tamaño un poco justo.

Loved the remoteness! The beds were super comfy. Breakfast was incredible! Best bangers ever 😋.

Nothing. Only negative would be not enough hooks to hang clothes, towels. Not a huge issue. The flies were a pain though. Inevitable on a farm but maybe some sort of fly catcher could be used??

Cosy cottage with a wood burner .Perfect for friends get together, where we could chill in the cottage for the evening. Good cooked breakfast brought to the cottage at our chosen time. Quiet location apart from the odd sound from the horses. House was centrally heated, so warm.

Kitchen was not as fully equipped as listed, no bowls ,dessert spoons, short of some glasses. As using also the Stalls cottage brought some over from there. Owners didn't respond to messages prior to the stay re information that wasn't listed in the description.i.e Would there be milk , tea/ coffee supplied. Were there supplies for the log burner or did we need to bring our own. Were towels provided. Doors to the bedrooms in the main cottage didn't close. Needs some TLC in places but this reflected in the price.

The location was beautiful- a wonderful farm cottage experience with lots of fruit trees and farm animals close to the house. Breakfast was really nice and the host was very friendly and quick to respond.

We found it a bit too chilly, but I guess that is expected in a farm cottage.
