Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Arrived at check in time of 4p. The front desk only had one person on and it was busy. Took 1/2 hour to get to thru the line. Lady at the desk said the room needed to be checked for cleaning. We were asked to take a seat and they would text us when our room was ready. An hour later, no text, got back in the long line, got to the desk and she acted like we had never checked in. Definitely need more front desk help!!
The entire experience was amazing, from the views to all the amenities the hotel had to offer was fantastic!!
The distance from the room we stayed in was extremely fair away from the pool and fitness area. so lots of walking. But even that was still a good experience with all the painting to look at in the hallways!
service excellany
At check in time they only had one person at the desk
Top 3 clam chowder we’ve ever had (we’re from Boston).
Farm friends feeding hour - we got here and it was a nice time to see the animals but there wasn’t any feeding happening. The farmer ended up going away eventually and my kids were so disappointed so I found her in an office area and had to ask about the feeding part - she seemingly begrudgingly gave the 3 of use a couple carrot slices to share and said we could feed the goats those. (Then of course other people asked where we got those, etc.) 2 days in a row the afternoon cookies ran out within 10 min. My kids of course were upset and we kept checking back but they were not replenished. These seemingly small incidents sound ridiculous but it’s what the kids remember, of course… I have a distinct memory of this from our last visit there as well - the carpet on the second floor off the elevator was absolutely filthy then and absolutely filthy now. Time to clean more often or at the very least put a patterned rug there! Really kind of gross to see in a high-end resort. We needed a rollaway bed. I asked for it for the first time at 4:00pm. I had to ask 3 more times - it didn’t arrive until 10:00pm. [Which means my youngest didn’t go to bed until after 10:00pm.] No shower hook to hang your bath towel up outside the shower is a little thing that adds to the ease of your day. PS: Where are people supposed to put their towel while they’re in the shower? On the floor? Very disappointing a mores only go until 8pm. We had to leave our dinner unfinished to make sure the kids were able to get there in time. And obviously people also have to choose between the evening movie OR s’mores - can’t do both. It’s not even dark out by 8pm for most of the summer. Also the front desk person told us they extinguish the fire at 8:00pm. When we got there the employee at the fire told us they just stop adding wood at 8:00pm but it would keep burning. ? Would be nice to know which one so we could have planned better.
Gorgeous property Very clean and quiet Great customer service
Breakfast was not included ($26 per adult)
Beautiful mountain setting. Lovely, historic property that I enjoyed with my two children for a end of summer getaway.
A few more hooks in the bathroom would have been helpful
I had no idea what to expect when booking this hotel. Trip advisor can make everything sound awful, but reviews on other websites were less polarizing and it’s the main hotel close to Santa’s Village so we gave it a go. The TLDR is we had a perfectly pleasant time! The grounds were stunning, hard to describe the feel of the expansive greens and gardens with the quiet of the mountains. We enjoyed every second we spent outside, whether it was 6am rocking on the deck with my baby while the rest slept in our room, or 7pm while my preschooler and her new friends attempted corn hole and bocce. Check in will be chaotic, if you are lucky you will have your room ready on time but I have a feeling they (gratefully) give out same room type bookings based on order of arrival, so we got there several hours early and enjoyed the club house pool, playground and barn animals prior to our Room Ready text at 3:30, whereas those arriving at 4pm had to sometimes wait. The hotel is understaffed, but I imagine it is not easy to find seasonal staff in such a quiet area as compared to North Conway, so I am understanding of this. There were some room service items left on random tables in halls (by guests, no doubt) that were never picked up during our stay but this made no difference to our experience. I’m guessing understaffing plays into housekeeping too, Note to management, your staff all around is lovely and you should get all of them more help!! From the front desk to the waitstaff/bartenders to housekeeping. The hotel room was clean enough that I felt fine having my young children sleeping in the beds but I did wipe down some drawers before unpacking their clothes, and recommend showers instead of tubs for littles. We stayed in a two double bed room, it was tight but again, perfectly fine for sleeping. the closet was large and we put our pack n play in there with the door kept open. At check in we were told the deck was first come, first serve for dinner but when we got downstairs an hour later they changed it to hostess seating and the wait was an hour. The restaurant was not full, they just did not have the staff to fill every table. We decided to order takeout food and drinks at the bar, and enjoyed everything outside on our own. We loved this so much we did it the next night too! Great for the kids to run around and adults to fully enjoy the scenery. Bar tender will give you drinks in plastic if you ask, and our food was totally ready in 25 minutes versus an hour wait for a table. We had pizzas, pasta and chicken tenders that were reasonably priced and plenty tasty. The clubhouse menu was a bit overpriced, somehow two drinks, one mediocre sandwich and one burger was $85? We got an extra meal and two more drinks at the bar and it was only $20 more… There was a breakfast buffet for $25.99 per adult and $18.99 per kid, but we decided to drive to Dunkin Donuts (4 mins away) one morning, and enjoyed an amazing meal at Grandma’s Kitchen (3 mins away) the next morning- highly recommend but be prepared for a bit of a wait as it was a small restaurant with two servers. The barn was such a fun addition and kids can help collect eggs from the hens in the mornings. The outdoor pool and clubhouse were a nice place to relax- although chairs were hard to get, the high tops helped. There is also an indoor pool but we never experienced it, basketball courts, playground, etc. If we come back to Santa’s Village, we will be repeat customers
Las increíbles instalaciones y todas las actividades que ofrecen. La amabilidad del personal
Beautiful view. This old hotel has lots of character. Very expensive including a $40 resort fee that does not offer any benefit (except the pool), as all activities are charged for. Seriously? You have to buy a s'mores kit! The staff were friendly and kind. They are seriously overworked and understaffed. The carpets were disgusting. They should be replaced with a product that can be cleaned. The rooms were clean and comfortable.
The location and views were amazing. Lots of lovely spots all around the property to sit and enjoy. Really beautiful and peaceful property. Lots of activities available. Staff at front desk was friendly. Fresh water easily accessible in lobby area.
Carpeting was worn and stained in stairs and hallways…could have used a good shampoo! The room we had was older and had stains on ceiling. Could use some updating in parts of the hotel. Some of the activities could have been included in the price of the stay.
Relaxing, inviting and beautiful. This gem gives me similar vibes to The Claremont (SW Harbor, ME), Broadmor (Colorado Springs, CO), Sagamore (Lake George, NY) with its charm, oil paintings, ribbed wainscoated hallways and customers who come back year after year. Often compared to the nearby OMNI Mount Washington Hotel , this place is less commercial and more chill. I have had the rare pleasure of being able to stay at the Grand for the whole summer. Stand out qualities include the mountain view from the porch, a gorgeous blooming flower beds and the friendly staff: Sarah, Rosalind, Justin, Leah, Theron. Mid summer the guests are a mix of young familes, hardly any tween or teens who travel to Santa's Village during the day or go to look at the farm. The 2nd largest group of adults seems to be older adults and as I said many returnees. Another plus of this place is its proximity to the Weathervane Theatre for summer plays.
I've heard of paying for the experience, I never imagined how much I'd pay for such a horrible experience. A few of the staff were very nice and as helpful as they could be, the rest need to get some training, fast. Enjoy your dinner on the veranda? Not really, ordered on the bar and asked if we could take it out side, get out there and get ignore and then get asked to leave, apparently since we didn't tip the person out there he didn't want us out there. Paid nearly $500 and that included nothing, not even breakfast, lol. At check out we were asked if "today's resort fee should get charged to the same card?" We are checking out and leaving, why would we pay ANOTHER resort fee?
Nice view
Hallway carpets had stains all over them
Beautiful!!!
So beautiful and everyone was so friendly
L'emplacement et la gentillesse du personnel
L'air climatisé qui faisait trop de bruit
The view is great. Staff were trying their best though staffing levels were way too low).
Very understaffed. Breakfast was chaos. Food was not very good.
Love everything about this property. Location. Staff. Amenities. Welcoming spirit.
Good menu
Have stayed at the Grandview in the past Terrific for families with children Many activities including golf The food is another story Had lunch today in the lounge bar Server was Miles Not impressed waited ten minutes to be served Dr Carol got espresso martini, small pour just average Both got lobster rolls, scraps no chunks, terrible 😢 Wouldn’t recommend, diet soda $100 with under deserved tip Absolutely gorgeous views and setting, Would not recommend
Beautiful, a lot of activities
Needs a little updating (carpets, showers)
Room and bar staff were great
Asked for an early checking understand they can not always honer arrived at 1 saw many people check-in early. Check in is at 4 our room was not ready still fi ally at 4:20 they texted. Inexcusable
The positive aspects of our stay. Our room was immaculate, thanks to the excellent work of the housekeeper. I also appreciate the young man who assisted with our luggage despite this was not apparently being his regular duty. Not having assistance with luggage was a negative.
Our disappointment regarding our recent stay at the resort in the White Mountains. As a returning guest since 2002 and previously enjoyed the high-end experience your establishment is known for, I was shocked by the significant decline in standards and maintenance. Several issues marred what should have been a pleasant stay: 1. Elevator floor and hallways carpeting were not only filthy but also extremely worn, giving a poor first impression upon arrival. 2. Room doors showed obvious neglect with missing paint, suggesting a lack of basic maintenance throughout the property. 3. Luggage assistance is apparently unavailable. Though your front desk staff did manage to find a young man wiling to help my husband, this service should be standard at a high-end resort, not an exception. 4. Room amenities were substandard, with the throw blanket on our bed having hundreds of pulls, indicating either age or poor quality. 5. Lobby decor was particularly disappointing. The current IKEA-style furniture feels completely inappropriate for an old New England inn. On previous visits, the lobby featured high-end furniture that complemented the age and style of the hotel. The current furnishings diminish the historic character that makes your property special.
The view, the location, the amenities
The service.. staff seemed to be overwhelmed all the time. Dishes were left on veranda overnight and far into late morning (for new guests I imagine it did not send a very welcome air to see dirty dishes and empty drink glasses). Trash cans were overflowing. Sometimes details are important (picture is of the heater which obviously has seen better days) We love the family feel, but as a couple getting away for a few days it was hard listening to the children crying in the room next store at 6 am, crying at the bar (why are kids sitting at the bar in the evening?), and on the front porch…. …
In a world where service seems to be declining as prices climb, the Mountain View Grand felt genuinely invested in the guest experience. They were clearly well-staffed—and seemingly paid well, because everyone was committed and engaged. From the front desk to breakfast to front porch service and even the s'mores and the farm, staff were everywhere, and they were proactive, kind, and patient. The hotel itself is beautiful and comfortable. The lobby is lovely, the front porch has tons of seating, and while the rooms are a little dated, that's part of the charm—I wouldn't want a fully modern renovation. Everything was clean and comfortable. We tried both the bed and the sofa bed (traveling with kids), and both were great. They even provided a crib for my daughter. At $500 a night, I expected something nice, but this went beyond expectations. I've paid the same elsewhere for places with half the amenities and staff. A really clean, comfortable experience with lots of activities to choose from.
A few small things kept it from being perfect. Our in-room phone didn't work to reach the front desk, which was a challenge the first night when we needed to confirm they were bringing a crib. I'm not sure it ever got fixed. It also would have helped to know upfront that the breakfast buffet only charges for kids over five. When I asked, the front desk told me it was $18 per child, and with two small children I was nervous about the cost—but we ended up not being charged for their food at all. Finally, I believe the s'mores used to be included. If there's a set time when everyone does s'mores, why not fold it into the experience? It seems like such a low cost that I'm curious why they changed it, or whether it was just a way to trim expenses and make a little profit. That part felt a bit odd.
Fantastic massage and food! The staff was very nice but we eat at the wine cellar one one and it was a fixed menu and we were not told when we booked that would be the case. Also we were the only people in the restaurant which was kind of nice but the server had to keep running up and down the entire time because she was also working upstairs. She also knew absolutely nothing about wine which was weird for a wine cellar. She didn’t even pour out first glass. Overall I love this hotel but that was a weird experience in the wine cellar. And the hot tub was closed the 3 days we were there so that was disappointing.
Its just a beautiful property!
Well I could have and should have booked a room with a Mountain View and a bit larger room, but thats on me
My daughter and I went up to the white mountains to celebrate her graduation from elementary school. The hotel and grounds were absolutely beautiful and the staff was extremely nice and accommodating. The spa services were wonderful and really made my kiddo feel special.
This isn't even a real complaint, but the website (and QR code in the room that links to it) had some pretty outdated menus. Obviously not a huge issue or disappointment, but they advertised some pretty fancy hot chocolates and my daughter was definitely a little bummed that instead of the one with rainbow whipped cream and edible glitter - it was a regular hot chocolate like from a dispenser. We also went down to breakfast expecting to be able to order some of the amazing items that were listed and instead were met with a buffet. It was a good breakfast buffet - but the web menu had bananas foster French toast... so getting basic eggs and a pastry was also a little bit of a bummer.
The views were beatiful - the food was very good.
It was expensive but at the same time the property was great so it was worth it.
It’s a beautiful location with spectacular views from the front porch
The actual menu for dinner and breakfast was not what was advertised on their website! I thought the prices out of line for the items on their menu for dinner! Breakfast was a buffet and nothing special for the price! Activities advertised included biking-they had none on site! Had to ask for hangars upon arrival, room only partially cleaned first day of 2 day stay. The pool area grass not mowed .This is not what one would expect from a “Grand hotel” and this is the third time we stayed here, much enjoying the 2 previous visits.I doubt we would come back!
Beautifully maintained property. Great location.
Hakgala mount view paradise Before going there, we discussed the facilities with the owner. However, once we arrived, we realized the claims were untrue, the place did not have any of the promised amenities. The cleanliness was unacceptable, the rooms were filthy, there was a major power outage at night. The staff promised to turn on a generator, but they never did, leaving us completely in the dark. The view only aspect is us to stay. When we politely brought up these issues, the staff became incredibly rude. They told us it wasn't their problem, no one else had ever complained, and blamed us for causing trouble just for asking for basic amenities. This is not about revenge. We sharing our experience to protect others from facing the same challenges.
Grand building with superb views
I stayed at the Mountain View for three days with a work group. It's a great hotel. The building is grand, but inside it's not at all tired like you might expect. Everything is recently refurbished in an old but not fussy style. It's like stepping back in time. We played 9 holes of golf, which was fun. I went for some hikes on the trails on the property. The fitness center was nice. I would definitely go back.
The arrival was easy and easy to find. A big plus was the barn that is attached to the hotel for children. They have a big activity center with pick a ball in tennis. The food was delicious, although sometimes a little bit cold. Breakfast was excellent. Overall it was very clean. We had a special spring deal which was good value for the money.
The room is rather old compared to other hotels. We did not bring a charger for the sockes since we assumed there's usb charging. I would suggest adding more hooks in the room to hang towels. Upon arrival, we found a cockroach in the bathroom. We wanted to have dinner, but we're not able to be seated since we did not have a reservation. And there were low staffed, however, I think they suggested in the email to make a reservation for dinner. Unfortunately, we had a room next to the exhaust of the kitchen which was loud and smelly. The hotel was not fully booked, it was a pity we did not get a better room.
Friendly staff. Comfortable bed
Room and restaurants overpriced
The buffet on Sunday, the food was cold
History, animals, and pizza!
Nothing to note
Was kid friendly with walking trails and the farm.
Took my girlfriend up to Mountain View Grand for her birthday weekend, which coincided with Memorial Day Weekend. We had a great time and great experience overall. The staff are fantastic, the location is incredible, views are amazing, and the atmosphere is pretty tame. There was a wedding on Saturday though and welcome drinks on Friday - so a pretty raucous crowd at the bar and throughout the hotel the entire weekend. It sounds like this is a pretty regular occurrence as a staff member even asked "have you been able to relax? sorry for how crazy it gets on weekends...". While there are three restaurants, there is only one bar which is open to the lobby and entire first floor where all the common space is - so once the bar is full with a wedding party the entire first floor feels like a loud bar. Additionally, don't select a Queen bed if you are traveling with your partner - its actually a full, which has to be false advertising. Go for the King. The rooms were nice, though small. We had a Queen Room with the mountain view and it was literally a bed, one nightstand, a chair and table tucked into the corner, and a minibar credenza. Not much space to move. The room felt that of an inn or a guest bedroom. But the bathrooms were beautiful and seem fairly newly renovated. We loved walking through the halls which are adorned with antique paintings of landscapes, bird dogs, and nature. What makes this place a must are the views and the endless list of amenities. We had a great time just bouncing between one amenity to the next. The Tennis courts could use a little TLC and new clay laid but served us well all things considered. Yoga was good Saturday Morning. We loved the barn and checking out all the animals. My girlfriend had a massage at the spa and said it was amazing. We ate at 1865 for dinner, which was great - very intimate and quiet so was a nice little romantic escape to a quieter basement wine cellar for a set menu dinner. There are trails on property but you are also close to both Crawford and Franconia Notch for some higher altitude White Mountain views. Overall, the Mountain View Grand was great! Good value overall, far cheaper than Mount Washington Resort with more amenities on site. Just keep in mind that it is also a venue, so maybe not the best if you're looking for quiet, tranquil solitude in the mountains. But its great if you're looking to stay active. It is also great for families, probably is primarily a family spot. There were a few young families with kids - many more amenities like a game room and movie theatre for them! I hope that this hotel could get horses on property for trail rides. We ended up going to Mount Washington Resort for that. But I know Mountainview Grand could have them beat if they got some horses with their trails, land, and views.

It’s absolutely beautiful and so much to do.
The food wasn’t great. Admittedly we didn’t get to check out the Wine Cellar but the Harvest restaurant wasn’t great.
The inn, staff friendly.
No more piano man, no complementary coffee on weekends? Nickel and dime for some items.
I went on a "girls weekend" with 7 other women. I shared a room with 2 others. The beds were listed as queens but they were full (room 256). That being said, the beds were super comfy. The carpets could be replaced in the hallways, and the stairs were a tad dusty. We had breakfast included and it was a disaster the first morning. I had a spa appointment at 11 and ordered my breakfast before 10 am. I had to ask repeatedly when it might be ready. I kept getting "I'll check", but eventually had to leave for my appointment. My spa session (deep tissue massage) was fabulous! It was a little chaotic in the check in area and I had to find a staff member to help me. She was lovely and apologetic and said it was quite busy. After my treatment, a staff member came up and presented me with my breakfast that had been delayed. I thought that was terrific! We had cocktails in the bar area, which were wonderful! The grey goose dirty martini is to die for. The lobby is cosy and welcoming, and I was told by my mates that the pool and sauna were lovely. We had dinner at the restaurant that Saturday evening, and I loved my meal. I had the scallops and crab cake. I just want to end this by saying that none of the faults I thought this resort had were the fault of the staff. They were, bar none, AMAZING. They were all thoughtful, helpful, and went out of their way to make our stay fantastic. The property is lovely, and it's in a one of a kind location. I think that the management needs to reevaluate how many staff they may need, even during a shoulder season. They also need to gussy up the carpets, and such.
The location. The “things to do” was what attracted us. But when I asked about certain things that were being marketed they weren’t actually available…like yoga or anything else on the offerings.
No ventilation in the bathroom.
It was comfortable

My husband and I stayed at this resort for Valentines day 2026. We were traveling on a ski trip and decided to have a nice night at a resort. It was far from that. We got to the hotel, and it is a beautiful classic building with great views. Unfortunately, the maintenance on the building is in disrepair. The paint is peeling off the walls in the pool, the plaster is chipping off the pool lining, the hot tub is boarded up, and the floor in the sauna is not attached to the joists. My husband stepped into the sauna and the boards fell out from under his feet. We read in reviews that the food and beverage service is extremely slow. Which we figured okay, we will just get a drink at the bar and order room service and wait. We weren't in a hurry so no big deal. We sat down in the bar area, and the tables have all the finish peeling off of them. We got our drinks in a timely manner and they were good. That is the only good thing I can say, the bartenders were working hard to make up for a poorly managed establishment. We called room service around 7pm to place our order, they informed us that they have nobody to make the food and the kitchen is closed. That is 3 hours before the advertised time. We then tried to order food from the bar, starting with some bread just so we could eat something. The appetizers, including a bread basket, took well over an hour to come out. Our entrees never came out. We waited two more hours, and then with enough questioning, we were given 3 microwaved kids hamburgers (?). I went to the front desk to find the manager, however nobody could locate him. They said they found his wife and they were trying to find him through his wife and that she was going to come talk to me. I told them that unless his wife is also a manager, she isn't relevant to this complaint. They finally tracked down the manager, he came out and said that his entire team walked out and he could not find any of them. He also had no idea that the kitchen was not taking orders. The manager walked me over to the restaurant with the promise of refunds, and we were met by 3-4 other families in the same situation. They also had been waiting hours in the restaurant with no food and drink. It was then determined that we would all have to order McDonalds in order to have at least something to eat. The manager promised me a refund for all food and drink and printed the receipts. Fast forward to today, all the charges have hit our card, nothing is refunded. I have been trying to get ahold of the resort, leaving multiple messages and even having the front desk try and transfer me to management, but there is no response. Nobody ever answers. Please do not stay here. We have stayed all over the country skiing, this is an expensive hotel room, and it is by far the worst experience we have ever had. It is an embarrassment that they call themselves a "resort" with motel level service.
The location and atmosphere.
Unclean and the service has severely deteriorated compared to past visits. It took 2 hours to recieve dinner once seated and the bar service was very slow. It took 20 minutes just to be acknowledged at the bar and another 15 to order a drink. Bar tables and the counter were very unclean, including the next morning. None of the bar tables had been wiped down from the day before. The room smelled musty and bathroom was unclean with mold on the ceiling and wall. There was some sort of splatter on door of bathroom and bathroom mirror. The back splash of bathroom sink had so much toothpaste splatter as well that was not ours. I am not one for writing reviews but this trip to what was once a beautiful hotel with fantastic service was a disappointment during this trip.
Run down hotel- pool is dirty and coming apart at the seams literally It was once a beautiful hotel - now not so much! Dingy lobby and dates worn carpets rude employees !!! We were shocked ! We have come for years …never never again Cold food that took 2 hours Dirty bathrooms !!!!!
Nice location and views of the mountains.
We had one of the worst dining experiences at the resorts main restaurant. They seemed to be vastly understaffed. It took 20 mins for a server to come to our table, another 20 minutes to get drinks and another hour to get our food which came out cold. Highly disappointed and decided it was best not to eat on site.
Amazing views, outdoor pool, restaurant, and overall vibe as well.
Valet parking
Location, facility and cleaning
Small feel of the lobby/bar area. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. Food was excellent.
Lack of toiletries in the spa
The facility was very under-staffed. The staff that were working were great, but we had to waited for pizza at the bar for over an hour and there was often a line at the front desk.
Beautiful & disappointing at once. This is my fourth time here and I keep coming back like a gluten for punishment. This place has such beautiful character, lovely people, scenery wow! The food is decent overall. They are super accommodating for kids and dogs. They are somewhat higher priced but not unreasonable. There are all these amenities but half the time they are not open or cancelled without warning. The hot tub is closed permanently and the ice skating which is listed is completely gone. The other activities are not coordinated very well by any staff. My biggest issue is there seems like nobody is in charge and the limited staff they have is over worked. The coffee is already run out, they often don't know what people need. The bartender is fine and all. It is the weirdest things because it really is just understaffed and nobody seems to be running the join in a cohesive way. If I am honest I totally plan to come back because its so beautiful and fascinates me that nobody in their town wants to work. I spoke with an older lady who said the town is mostly retired or elderly people and most of them do not want to work - even though its decent pay. They often have foreign and friendly staffers in the kitchen but it's hard to communicate sometimes. They used to let you order breakfast but now its a limited buffet. I just wish I knew what I knew coming in - I even CALLED and asked to be sure everything was open a month before booking. But they probably change hands. They actually cancelled all outdoor activities due to SNOW? Lastly we had a special needs kid and she could not wait to show her the barn we loved enjoying but when we went inside nobody was working it and a turkey was chasing me harassing me and my kids. We got chased out and she was sobbing. We have chickens and roosters and live on a hobby farm - animals do not usually spook us! For most people if you are a relaxing, skiing or hiking family its an easy yes but if you are relying on the place to provide more entertainment you need to call ahead and get details. Oddly we will probably come back! Also the spa is beautiful and just very high priced.
We have been here in the past and loved it. Not sure what is going on now though. Checking was extremely slow. Yes it says 4pm but inthe past we have arrived earlier. Not this time . Girl at the desk was rather rude in fact. No smile either. Seemed like she didn’t want to be there. I went to the desk again at 415 after patiently waiting 3 hrs. Again no help and rude service. Even though i had called when making reservation and explained i had limited mobility we were on the 3rd floor down 2 or maybe 3 halls at the end! Oh well. As others stated food service was VERY slow. The AM buffet was good( although I couldn’t drink the super strong coffee ). Got a latte at the little store but you might have to wait for a person to appear to serve you. That was good but you were out of luck if you wanted decaf. Machine was and had been for a while broken. The one at the bar was also broken. As others stated the hot tub has been closed for two years. I had booked a room for two nights but later wanted to add a third. That was a big issue. I went to the desk after two nights to get a breakfast voucher since they didn’t give me one at the start for all days.(?). Yes two different reservation numbers but couldn’t they combine them? Guess not here. Anyway made sure they activated the new key but when i went to our room the new key didn’t work. Fortunately my husband still had the first key which did work. Went our for a bit and got back at 11am and now neither key worked! Back to the desk. The girl there said we did something wrong! Really?! New key did work. The barn was consistently good. Pool and game room were good. Dinner was MEH. No vegetarian options. The one thing that was on the menu they didn’t actually have. My son had pizza AGAIN. The rest had salad so not really filling. The menu needs a little redoing. Possibly our less than normal experience was due to the fact that new management was taking over but still…… Might try again in the future but not right away.
No pizza because “dough didn’t rise.” No coffee because…just because! Opps! Don’t try to get any coffee at the gift shop because…well the door and shop is open so, you can’t! What’s going on with this place? At dinner order some patience, you’re going to need it! You can’t try the restaurants and coffee shops down the street if you would like. Sorry, there aren’t any! In the meantime, go watch the chickens and ducks!
We had a really lovely stay at the Mountain View Grand Inn and would absolutely return, especially as a family with young children. This would have been a five-star experience if not for some operational inefficiencies, primarily around food and beverage service. The biggest challenge was the bar and casual dining service. On multiple occasions it took 30 minutes or more just standing in line to order a drink or food. The staff themselves were incredibly kind, hardworking, and clearly doing their best, but the resort felt understaffed, and the systems in place did not seem well organized for the volume of guests. With a bit more staffing and improved flow, this would make a huge difference. Room service was overall solid and very convenient with two young kids. There were a few misses (the bucatini pasta was not great), but several items were winners—especially the chicken fingers, pizza, and chocolate cake, which our kids loved. The convenience factor alone made room service a big plus. The pool and sauna were the biggest highlights of our stay. We spent a ton of time there. The pool was heated to about 86 degrees, with depths ranging from roughly 3 feet to 5.5 feet—perfect for families. There were always plenty of towels available, which we really appreciated. Other family-friendly touches stood out: • The small on-site shop was great for snacks and essentials. • We loved that they gave us free milk every night for the kids (we got it from the shop!) • The game room was fun and well used. • The grounds are absolutely beautiful. • Snow tubes and snowshoes are available to borrow, which is a great perk (though the weather didn’t cooperate during our stay). Our room was comfortable, the bathroom was nicely done, and the mini-fridge was well stocked with reasonably priced snacks and drinks. Tip: Book directly with the hotel to receive free breakfast—it was a really nice breakfast and felt like a nice perk. Although we spent most of our time indoors due to weather, this property is a fantastic base for winter sports and outdoor activities. With some improvements to staffing and food-service organization, this could easily be a five-star resort. Overall, a very enjoyable stay and a great choice for families. We will probably be back because our kids were really enchanted by the hotel.
We've been visiting this hotel for the past 10 years. I miss the guys at the door who help with luggage and general chit chat. The bar service is bad....sat down at 3, didn't get waited on until 345. Ordered salad and pizza. Didn't leave until 530. Still paying prime prices for lousy service. This place is capable of so much more.
Family friendly with lots to do. Great location and the staff were all amazing! Dinner was delicious and a great kids menu. We will be back!
This was my first time staying at MV, and I was very excited about the experience, especially over Thanksgiving. Check in was smooth. We enjoyed the sauna, pool and relaxed in the room with a beautiful view. The hot tub was not working and didn’t look like it would be during our stay. Unfortunately, dinner did not go as planned, and we were quite disappointed. There seemed to be a misunderstanding, as the staff was unaware the restaurant was open for Thanksgiving dinner. This created a lot of confusion. My meal (scallops) was cold and dry, and I had to send it back, though the short ribs were good. Breakfast was mediocre. The fruit was fresh, but the French toast and scrambled eggs were cold, making it feel like a typical hotel breakfast rather than what I expected from an upscale inn. At checkout, the desk attendant didn’t ask about our stay, so I requested to speak with the manager. The manager understood our situation and comped the rest of our dinner, which was appreciated. Overall, aside from the dinner experience, our stay was good. However, given MV’s reputation as an upscale inn, I had higher expectations.
This hotel used to be one of our favorites. Regrettably it no longer is. The service and dining is horrendous. The selections are limited and take forever. 22 minutes before anyone even came to the table after management was alerted. Following night we figured give room service a tire. Rings and rings. Front desk doesn’t answer and when they do we are told they are not offering room service. Simply not enough staff. You can’t charge resort prices and not give resort service. Beyond disappointed. Resort itself is beautiful. Spa is great. Activities are nice. Service has gotten worse year after year. Totally bummed loyal patron who won’t be back. Save your money and book elsewhere
Mountain View Resort is set in a gorgeous mountain area. Beautiful views! The hotel is a classic old style resort reflecting yester-year. Hence, the bathrooms are small, but the rooms are comfortable. The restaurant morning buffet and lunch and dinner offerings were excellent and delicious! Our only issue was that it is not handicap friendly to enter the hotel. Many steps in the front to get in with luggage. We had an a family member in a wheel chair. There is a ramp, but it is quite a push up a long ramp with a cart full of luggage and the wheel chair. There was no vallet to assist. And the parking is a good distance away in the back of the hotel.
Stunning property with so much to do!
Amenities were great. Since it was the slow season we got the run of the area without a huge amount of people.
The room we were in was massively slanted and it literally was walking up hill to go from one side of the room to the other, very odd. The other thing was breakfast, absolutely delicious, however we had to pay which was off putting. With the price we paid you figured a complimentary breakfast was included although it was not.
The woman at the front counter - not friendly or helpful at all
Mountainview Grand never disappoints. Lovely rooms. Gorgeous views. Lots of options to keep you busy from their game room, farm visits, movies and other choices. They have the best staff! We always enjoy the staff at the bar. Very personable and friendly. Enjoyed the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner. Not our first time. Certainly won’t be our last!
My husband and I, along with two other couples, spent several days in Whitefield, New Hampshire, at the Mountain View Grand. Our stay was wonderful. It was off-season, so the weather was unpredictable, but we were never at a loss for fun things to do right at the hotel, surrounded by spectacular scenery. The food was excellent, and the restaurant staff made the experience even better. Grace, Duta, and Nikki, in particular, were warm, attentive, and professional. We look forward to returning and highly recommend the Mountain View Grand to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway.
Der Blick war grandios. Die Athmosphäre war super. Es gab tolle Angebote- Trails, eine kleine Animalfarm…
Alles sehr gut. Der Spa-Bereich ( Schwimmbad und Sauna) könnten renoviert werden.
Our recent stay at the Mountain View Grand Lodge was a very pleasant experience. The grounds were beautiful, the hiking trails were gorgeous, and the barn with all the animals was a wonderful touch. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, courteous, and attentive. The spa team was excellent—our therapists truly seemed to care about our well-being. We also appreciated the rich history and architecture of the building. During our visit, we enjoyed two dinners and two breakfasts at the bar and the Harvest Tavern. The dinners were flavorful and perfectly prepared. One small suggestion: we would love to see a few à la carte breakfast options in addition to the buffet. We travel often and make it a point to try Eggs Benedict wherever we go! Also, while your website mentions a “farm-to-table” concept, the breakfast offerings didn’t seem to reflect that as clearly—though the food was still satisfying. We had hoped to visit the wine cellar as well, but decided against it since we hadn’t packed the more formal attire it requires. Perhaps on our next visit we’ll plan ahead for that experience—it certainly looked inviting. Overall, we had a wonderful time and are already planning to return this summer. We can’t wait to see a sunset from that beautiful porch!
Our experience at Mountain View Resort, New Hampshire was truly disappointing from the moment we arrived. The customer care was extremely poor — staff were inattentive, dismissive, and even arrogant at check-in. We felt ignored rather than welcomed. For a resort that claims to be four stars, the service was shockingly subpar. The golf course was in terrible condition — dry patches everywhere, zero maintenance, and no attention to detail. It honestly looked abandoned. The rooms were another major letdown: very small, outdated, and with a terrible odor that made the stay uncomfortable. Everything felt old and neglected rather than “rustic.” Adding to the nightmare, it took multiple phone calls and days before anyone bothered to locate a simple item we accidentally left in the room. The lack of urgency or care from the staff was unbelievable. Overall, this resort seems focused on weddings and events, not on the quality of stay for regular guests. It’s very misleading for travelers who drive long distances expecting a relaxing vacation. Warning: Don’t be fooled by the online reviews — our stay was far from exceptional. Poor service, poor maintenance, poor management. One of the worst “resort” experiences we’ve ever had.
Everything, the location and view were great, rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. Plenty to do for families: indoor pool, playground , farm with animals and LLAMAS!! Lots of seating outside for a relaxing view of the mountains.
Breakfast could have been more family convenient and affordable.
Beautiful Mountain View’s
床很舒服
房间隔音差,设施陈旧,地毯很脏,酒店用餐很贵。
Beautiful period hotel. Up in the mountains surrounded by forest.
The location and the grounds were outstanding. Beautiful sunset/sunrise views and a lot of comfortable seating areas outside. The lobby was nice and welcoming.
The restaurants left a lot to be desired and for the price we were paying, we expected a higher quality of food and service. The room was fine, but again, not at the price we paid. It didn't offer a proper dresser or even hangers to hang clothes so we mostly had to live out of our luggage. We often had to wait well into the afternoon to get the room serviced. The service overall was slow and many "offerings" were either poor quality (like the food) or not working (the espresso machine).
Fantastic location and facilities and room quality excellent however the dining experience was very poor although not the fault of the staff on duty that were very stretched with little or no help The restaurant was like a kindergarten with children running all over the place - we left unserved
Want to come back!
The facility is well maintained. The food is excellent, and pricy. The views are what make it all a great value. If you want a view of the mountains, you want a room that faces south. I very much enjoyed getting a favorite beverage and sitting on the south porch. This is a historical landmark. The floors will creek a little.
