Breakfast was lovely. Happy hour is a nice touch. Cookies and milk at bedtime—yes please! Perfect location to walk the city! This inn is 152 years old and it is charming, peaceful and everyone is welcoming. The courtyard is divine. Look no further…you have found THEE place!
Could’ve been a bit cleaner.
Charing rooms, lovely outdoor courtyard, great location, great breakfast
Nothing
I have nothing negative to say. It was a wonderful experience all around. Every single employee went out of their way to make sure we were happy. Genuinely friendly folks, wine and cheese, the cookies and milk, breakfast: All the food was excellent. We could literally walk out our door and be at the City market, carriage rides and anything else we needed. One block away was target for the last-minute things you forgot. Perfect experience. Bravo- we will be back.

Goed hotel, midden in de stad!
Central
Very very old - we had to go up stairs with suitcases - weird smell
Quaint property in.a.grewt location.
Not a good property if you have troubles with stairs or tight spaces, unless you specify a room close to the check.in area.

The friendliness of entire staff!
Next door to a Ritz Carlton being built might be e noisy during weekdays

Great historic building. The rooms were updated and comfortable. Housekeeping was a daily occurance. Breakfast was good with a variation of items that changed daily. The location was convenient to the historic district.
Parking was Horrible!!! We had to park over a block away. Parking was very tight and the cost was $25.00 per day
Location was excellent for what we wanted to see and do in Charleston. Breakfast the first morning was not so good, but mornings 2 and 3 they offered several kinds of fresh fruit which was much appreciated. The room was well appointed and comfortable.
There was not much we didn't like. Two suggestions are: put a bench in the shower and put a small mirror with a long expandable arm near the sink.
location was great, and the breakfast, wine and cheese and cookies were great!
Location was very good. we could reach all the major destinations on foot. The breakfast (7-10 AM) was very helpful too since most places seemed closed until 10 AM. The main floor staff were super attentive and kind. The room was good but nothing amazing. The bathroom was nicely renovated and the shower was very nice with a good water pressure. Very clean. The water in Charleston was really good. Anyone wanting to have a spa experience should come to a place like this where the water itself is super soft. My skin glowed (It could have glowed more if I were 20 yrs younger) The desk by the window (facing the gallery, so no view) was helpful of course. The tea table (?) with two chairs were nice but since it is located right in front of the bathroom, we did not get to sit there often. Overall, nice enough.
The room was DAMP as if we were in Venice. The sea is close by, so maybe it could be the reason? I brought a few pairs of cotton slippers from home and they became damp quickly. A few spots on the carpet were really really damp, but probably the same was true in all other, much fancier hotels. It was not a problem of ventilation. Due to the heat we came back to the hotel for a siesta and some days we came home at around 7 PM, after early dinner. We hoped to have Netflix or something to see a movie before going to bed.
The Meeting Street Inn is centrally located in downtown Charleston! You are almost directly across the street to the entrance of the market and right around the corner from King Street. If you’re really into walking, The Battery (White Point Gardens) and everything in between is within walking distance. Our room was clean and well appointed. I was very excited to see that we even had a sound machine (white noise). The bed was ok, but could have been more comfortable. The pillows were definitely not my favorite. I ended up buying a pillow at the Target to use on my trip instead. The bathroom was nice and had everything we needed. We appreciated having the mini fridge and the steamer for our clothes. The property felt safe as well. The breakfast was great with different things served each day. The evening cookies were delicious! If you’re looking for a place to stay downtown - I would recommend.
The location of the inn was really great and the location of the room was great too! I liked the ambience as well, it had a lot of southern charm.
The noise level in the room above was above normal. Lots of stomping and pounding late evening and early morning hours.
Miserable my first night. Had to clean the filter in the AC. I took it downstairs to show the guy at the front desk. He said that is not okay and said he would let his manager know. I did not hear a word from anyone for the duration of my stay. Not an offer for another roomor anything!!
Very nice and friendly staff
Perfect location! Absolutely adorable.
The location was close to the market. The rooms were quiet, the AC worked really well, and I loved the lobby/outdoor seating where you could enjoy breakfast and coffee in a real mug!
Valet parking is available, and the people were friendly, but the lot where your car is parked is pretty far, and the process is slow. They don't park cars quickly after they are dropped, and it causes a traffic jam in front of the hotel. Overall, it's a very minor issue, and with a little improvement in timeliness, it could be fixed.
My family and I recently stayed here, and there were several issues that I don’t think anyone should have to deal with on vacation. There were suspicious stains and particles on the headboard and bed frame, which are made of a velvety fabric. The air conditioner is extremely loud, sounding like a B-52 bomber every time it turns on. It’s a wall unit, and they should really consider installing two mini-splits per room instead. I’m highly sensitive to mold spores, and there was visible mold in the air vent of the wall unit. I’m actually sick as I’m writing this review because of my mold allergy. The bathroom was not air-conditioned, which I understand given that it’s an older building, but it became very steamy due to the lack of ventilation. The shower design is also problematic. It has a half-glass partition, so water leaks out and gets all over the floor. The bath mats do not help and end up completely soaked by the end of a shower. On top of that, the shower does not drain well, so you’re left standing in pooled water. Overall, the contracting and design choices seem questionable. It’s disappointing because this historical building has a lot of character but feels like it received a “landlord special” rather than thoughtful restoration. That said, I will note that the space itself appeared to be generally clean. The breakfast was good, and both the staff and cleaning staff were very kind and accommodating.
I could not ask for a better location in historic area of Charleston. It was right on point for everything we needed.
I liked everything about it. It was nice quiet comfortable felt safe.
Staff was nice, room was very nice and clean.
Great location
Would have loved to have a restaurant on site but the happy hour was nice.
We had a wonderful stay at Meeting Street Inn! The location is perfect, making it easy to explore historic Charleston on foot. The staff was warm and welcoming, the courtyard was beautiful, and the complimentary wine and cheese at 5 pm was such a lovely touch. We truly enjoyed our stay and would happily come back!
The location was excellent. Super close to the Market and very walkable to many of the restaurants and sites we wanted to visit. The 5:00 wine and cheese was a very nice touch, as was the cookies and milk at 8.
Breakfast was ok. It was more like what I would expect at a chain hotel.
continental breakfast wine and cheese at 5 P{M
left bolt on toilet seat needed tightning 1 of 4 bulbs over vanity burnt out
We recently stayed at The Meeting Street Inn for an extended long weekend. We were there with family, all of us seniors. We found the inn to be comfortable. The location and the atmosphere were great. Our room was very nice, although more attention could have been paid to vacuuming the carpets. While breakfast was just adequate on weekdays, we found that it was much better on the weekend with many more offerings. All in all, we would definitely stay there again.
Great location. Clean and good service
No water provided guests for our whole stay. We shouldn't have had to purchase it. We were in a double room, 110 back in the employee laundry bin area which was dark and crowded with the bins, and very hot vs. other double rooms across from the pool that per a maid, were open and unused. Limited/difficult parking in front of hotel to check in/out. Challenging to navigate through courtyard with luggage caddy. Staff cleaning up after breakfast and wine/cheese presentation need to stop slamming dishes in general into and out of the dishwasher. On a positive note, we thought the breakfast and wine/cheese selections were very nice. Suggest self park for $25/night. Lot is uncovered and unguarded, approx. 3 blocks away but walkable. Overall good location for dining/shopping/historic sites.
loved the hospitality, room was always clean and very comfortable, loved it was easy access to all we were there to do and great selection of restaurants in the area.
too hot the week we were there for a hot tub. but loved the atmosphere of the courtyard.
Prix totalement excessifs par rapport au confort de l'hôtel. Mais je ne sais pas si c'est une arnaque de booking ou les prix de l'hôtel. Il semble qu'une réservation en direct est moins chère. Fini booking
L'honnêteté de booking
Excellent location, near several attractions including Rainbow Row, shopping, restaurants, and the City Market. Lovely 5 p.m. wine and appetizer hour. Easy check in and check out.
There is major construction happening just beside the property (which is obviously out of the hotel's control.) The construction starts early in the morning, so prepare for site noise and dust. The hotel room was dark (lacking natural light) and the temperature/thermostat was difficult to control (hot and then very cold). The hotel lobby had a funny odor, too.
Great room - spacious, clean , great bed and nice bathroom. Close to all the main sights downtown
Be nice if there were some drinks or snacks in minibar on arrival
I can’t say enough good things about the Meeting Street Inn- we arrived on a busy Friday afternoon to check in, only to be told that there was no reservation for us. Turns out, I mistakenly booked a room for the prior night. Fortunately, the receptionist was able to get us a room for that night at the same rate. The wonderful manager, who was standing by, waived our “no show fee” for the prior night (cost of one nights stay!). The manager even managed to secure us a dinner reservation at a nice restaurant for that evening as mis-scheduled that one also! The hotel is very clean, in a great location, and had a wonderful evening cocktail hour with wine, cheese & even craft beer!
This is just a glorified motel with a major construction site right next door. It is extremely unfair not to mention that prior to booking.
Big noisy construction site right in front of our windows.
Wine and cheese social. Location. Staff was wonderful. But was charged accidently for the room deposit. They said they would take it off and didn't. They said booking charged us and has to fix it. We were there 3 nights and it cost us 1309.62. We didn't sleep because the old fashion air conditioner kept us up and we had to drive back to Florida. Still begging for our 359.00 back.
Very loud air conditioner. Old fashion kind out windows. Charging us a deposit when we left the room clean as a whistle.
Second time staying at the Meeting Street Inn and it was just as great as the first! It’s an ideal location with a great happy hour and breakfast. The best staff ….Julia, Ty, Bella, Ms. Renee …to name a few, are always willing and able to help. .
We booked the King Suite on the second floor; our first time visiting Charleston for a five night stay. .The Inn was walking distance to some of the places we wanted to explore, and to the four restaurants we had made reservations for dinner. Their parking lot was convenient, a brief 3-minute walk from the Inn. We were impressed by the variety of quality breakfast choices provided, different every morning, and their yogurt reminded me of the kind served in the Nordic countries, creamy, light, and fresh-tasting. Everyone on staff was naturally cordial and most welcoming.
The location was key.
It's a little antiquated. For example, no electrical outlets to plug in a computer and work outside.
I liked the close proximity to eating and shops. The parking is a bit of a mess. I recommend paying for valet. The room's outside sitting area is not clean. The bathroom was updated and clean. The bed not too hard or soft. We loved the old charm the hotel had.
We wanted a little privacy well sitting outside our room, however, the outside space was dirty and had no chairs.
Great location
Nothing.
Great location and the complimentary cheese, wine plus milk and cookies were a lovely addition to our stay
Nothing I didn’t like
Location. Huge construction site below our balcony.
Construction ruins courtyard Also the wood railings have finish nails sticking up and the need paint. Those nails tear flesh
Nice accommodations .. friendly and helpful staff .. good continental breakfast and cookies and milk in the evening. Valet service was excellent .. hotel is very charming.
Molto bello hotel proprio in centro. Ottimo aperitivo e camera spaziosa. Letto molto comodo.
Costo molto alto.
The bathroom in the room we had (214) was very nice and obviously a fairly new renovation. The condition of the room overall was that of one that is well kept with investment for the long term. Very nice!
The breakfast was not at a level I would expect for a downtown Charleston hotel. We had a better breakfast at the Holiday Inn express in Camden, SC the night before. The pre-made omelet's were a great example of this. Also, a Kuerig in the room is pretty much standard for all hotels in this day and age.
Great location, everything within walking distance. Nice and clean room. Friendly staff. Always a great place to stay when we’re in Charleston.
Great location. Loved the breakfast, happy hour and evening cookies. Beautiful historic property.
Great location in the historic district, walking distance to restaurants.
1) Hotel failed to notify us of the massive construction project and noise opposite the hotel until a day before arrival. Fortunately workers weren't working during our stay, but not warning us at booking was DECEPTIVE. There was a white sound machine in our room so obviously management is aware of the problem. 2) No coffee set up in the room. This is standard even in lower price chain hotels. 3) Bathroom design makes it impossible to turn on and adjust shower without standing inside, risking freezing or scalding. Bathroom floor gets soaked. 4) Bathroom has handicap bar out of reach, and slippery floor. 5) Bathroom doesn't have a single towel bar! Just a few hooks. No place to dry a towel or wash cloth, so you are forced to get new towels every day and waste water/laundry. Less critical but extremely disappointing: parking is an inconvenient walk from hotel, and overall the hotel exterior and common areas are tired-looking. Staff is hit-or-miss with breakfast staff very friendly and helpful, desk/managers less so. In summary, a disgracefully overpriced hotel for inadequate and even hazardous facilities.
The Meeting Street Inn exceeded our expectations. We knew the location would be perfect for being able to walk to most of the places we wanted to visit. The room was lovely and we were pleasantly surprised it had a small refrigerator and a safe. Housekeeping came every day to freshen the room and replace the towels. Our biggest surprise was how generous the continental breakfast and the daily wine and cheese reception were. Staff was always pleasant and helpful. Even though there is a construction project next door, we plan to stay here again next year.
Great location. Close to everything. Charming hotel. Loved breakfast, happy hour and cookies and milk.
Nice place with friendly helpful staff. Nice welcome cocktail hour at 5 pm. Nice breakfast in the am. Good coffee always. Hotel is old, room was nice. Wall unit AC - didn’t work great. Overall- great location- nice place and staff.
The Meeting Street Inn was a clean hotel with clean rooms, ample space, a friendly staff, and most importantly, convenient to dining, sightseeing and everything you need to see in the French Quarter of Charleston
Room was great, everyone were very friendly and professional, nice to have free breakfast everyone morning and wine and cheese in the afternoons with cookies at night, inn was close to everything you were looking to visit, will be staying there again.
Don't stay here. I spent $500 to write this post I take one vacation a year, and this hotel looked good from the photos. When I arrived to the location, it is about the same quality as a motel 8. Rooms have a cold feel, are very old, with the stale smell of cleaning product Unfortunately for me, I booked 3 days here in advance, and was only able to get 2 of those days refunded. I would have gladly stayed for the 3 days I booked, but I was catfished. When I arrived, the hotel was not as advertised. I ended up staying at another hotel for a little bit more cost, and a 10 X better experience
Lovely old fashioned inn. Good breakfast. Large room.
Next to a construction site; also felt like it could use a refresh for the price.
Etablissement de charme, idéalement situé.
Bien qu'étant bien situé à Charleston, le rapport qualité-prix est moyen, l'établissement étant cher, confortable, de charme mais non luxueux.
The location is great and courtyard is lovely. The rooms were spacious and had a great little fridge and safe. They had a nice complementary wine and cheese hour each night.
It was hot in the room and the AC clicks on regularly to compensate but it’s very loud and doesn’t stay on long enough to make a huge difference. There was continental breakfast but the only hot food was powdered or boiled eggs.
The breakfast was "very" continental. Could have been better.
Back again - was a bit worried about construction next door but it wasn't bad at all. You just cannot beat the central location & the Inn itself. Our favorite place to stay in Charleston. And PLEASE do not EVER eliminate the lovely hot tub like Elliot House Inn did!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great spot. Fine comfortable rooms and great service. Thanks Johnnie, Walter, and Miss Renee are super friendly!
Perfect location, central to everything. Comfortable room, exceptionally friendly staff. We had a problem with the AC in our room; it was dealt with immediately. We made regular use of the water filling station, and the lovely courtyard.
Breakfast included, wine and cheese happy hour and milk and cookies at night. Nice touch.
Air conditioner was loud and constantly cycled on and off.
The hotel was in a great location, and the room was a good size. The car park wasn’t too far from the hotel, and it was convenient enough to drop luggage at the hotel then drive to the car park. The happy hour/free cookies were a nice touch.
We were quite disappointed by the breakfast at the hotel, which had quite limited options (even for a continental breakfast). The staff seemed less welcoming than others we’d encountered during our trip, and like others have said, the construction work was noisy from 7am onwards (though of course that’s absolutely no fault of the hotel!). If we returned to Charleston, we’d probably choose a different hotel in the same price bracket, as this felt overpriced for what it was.
Location, breakfast and cleanliness were good. The staff was great! Very efficient, responsive and friendly. They had a nice happy hour every evening which was very nice.
The AC in our room was loud and we used ear plugs.
Everyone was very helpful. Lovely happy hour! Denise and Elena are so sweet and kind!
Location
Location
Hard to park
Convenient location; coffee in the lobby
Shower has a half door so bathroom floor was flooded. Had a small private balcony but no furniture and wood railing was rotted and seemed extremely unsafe. Checkout was at Noon yet housekeeping was pounding at the door at 9am (no communication on what rooms are ready to be changed over)
Location was great...very close to the market and within walking distance to many stores on Meeting Street and King Street.
Construction next door (I know it's temporary) but it was very noisy in the mornings. Offsite location for parking and $25/day fee not included.
Most of the tours we wanted to do were close to the hotel. There were ample good restaurants that were close as well as good shopping close by. We enjoyed the large breakfasts and the evening wine and charcuterie very much. The staff was very friendly and personable and quick to help. The beds were comfortable.
The air conditioning unit was very loud.
Lovely experience! I love this hotel so much and it has such a beautiful Charleston feel! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone, especially ig you are looking for something in the French Quarter.
I would like to give this hotel a positive review because of its history & location, but I don’t recommend it. They don’t tell you this on the website when you book, but there is demolition going on right outside your door/window/room beginning before 7:00 AM. It’s insanely loud & shakes the building. They’re demolishing the site next door to begin construction on a Four Seasons, so who knows how long the construction will go on. No compensation is given for the inconvenience. They didn’t inform me of this until they sent the confirmation a few days before arrival. This should be a disclaimer on their website until construction is finished.
The noise from the construction site fifteen feet from our door was intolerable. You should warn potential customers about the noise for $500 a night.
La posizione e la storicità della struttura
Letto piccolo materasso morbido
Location, location, location. It's situated in the city center, close to everything. They offer cheese and wine daily at 5pm and cookies in the evening.
Breakfast options are limited, and the carpeting looks outdated.
Great location and courtyard. The rooms were clean and staff was courteous.
They tried hard with evening appetizers and drink- and breakfast But didn’t make up for the 7am wake up call of building next door being demolished
Construction noise at 7am
The hotel was charming and clearly reflected its history. Unfortunately, a major hotel was being rebuilt right next door and despite the front desk manager’s assurance that the construction only took place during main business hours, we were woken up at 6:20 each morning to loud construction activity with bulldozers, moving trucks, etc. our room actually shook with the construction each day. In my opinion, the hotel should have disclosed it and at least offered some sort of retribution to compensate for the disruption. If you have a visit soon, you may want to rethink this choice.
