Tubo Tulum Hostel - Unique Stay

I really enjoyed my stay at Tubo Tulum, especially thanks to Richie, the manager. He is such a beautiful soul : incredibly kind, welcoming and genuinely helpful. He gave me lots of great recommendations and tips that made my time in Tulum even better. And his coffee was honestly the best! The Tubo rooms are really cute and make for a fun and different experience. They are quite small, though, so I would recommend bringing a small bag rather than a big suitcase. The hostel also rents bikes, which was really convenient and made getting around Tulum much easier. Breakfast is quite simple, just toast, but there is a supermarket nearby where you can easily buy other food if you want more options.

A couple of things to keep in mind: towels are not included and need to be rented separately. Also, I found the air conditioning a little tricky, as it was either very cold or, once turned off, became quite warm

“Breakfast” was coffee and toast

Really nice room with strong A/C. The common areas were really nice and kitchen well equipped. It was nice that they have complimentary coffee and toast in the morning. Everyone that worked there was really kind and helpful.

キッチンには電子レンジはありません。コンロを使用することになります。 自然の中の部屋なので夜に電気を付けたまま外に出ると一瞬で部屋の中が虫だらけになります。 冷房があるのは快適でしたが、お部屋が狭いので温度調整がとても難しかったです。

Very friendly staff! They were exceptionally helpful with recommendations. Unique rooms. It was nice to have some privacy with hostel prices. The location was great for accessing so many things. It's a small hostel but all other guests were friendly and happy to chat in the common spaces.

Mosquitoes!!! So many it was uncomfortable to hang out outside of the tube. The mosquitoes were many in the bathrooms making showers a hasty affair. And facilities were a bit more run down than the photos on the website.

The service was just unacceptable. We booked through Booking.com and were surprised to be asked to pay additional fees upon arrival that were not clearly disclosed in the listing. When we politely asked what the fees were for and why they had to be paid in cash, the receptionist could not provide an explanation beyond repeatedly saying, "It's not my rules." Asking reasonable questions about unexpected charges seemed to irritate her, and her attitude quickly became aggressive and confrontational. Instead of addressing our concerns, she told us to leave if we did not want to pay. The issue was not the amount of the fee but the lack of transparency and the way we were treated for simply asking questions

The front lady for confrontational, rude, and very hard to get information from. As soon as we had questions about extra fees that weren’t mentioned during reservations - she became aggressive and basically told us that she doesn’t allow us to stay there. I would like Booking.com take this action into consideration.

Het personeel was vriendelijk, open en behulpzaam. De faciliteiten waren hygiënisch en werden goed bijgehouden. De gedeelde ruimte was mooi ingericht, open en comfortabel.

Omdat de cabine niet zo groot was, maakte de airco de ruimte al gauw te fris.

Tube floor took some adjusting too, but not bad at all!! AC was wonderful.

Had an amazing stay! The staff were friendly and very helpful. Good location for walking to find food and bicycles for rent are a great deal. Very safe and comfortable stay.

Only downside was our door had a couple holes in it so some mosquitos found their way in, but that really wasn't a bother.

Endroit charmant, pour le prix ça fait le job largement. Calme et reposant. Tout est a disposition pour se faire a manger si besoin.

Sur booking, l'heure d'arrivée est prévue a 14h30. Lorsque nous sommes arrivés il a fallu attendre 15h00 l'heure d'arrivée pour l'hôtel voir même un peu plus le temps que la propriétaire règle un problème alors que les chambres étaient prêtes. Je trouve ça un peu juste. Il y a bcp de moustique. Prévoir l'anti moustique.

Amei o local! Ótima localização e instalações, funcionários muito prestativos e nos deram ótimas dicas para aproveitar o local, além da vibe do local ser muito boa :). Recomendo

La disponibilité du personnel. Plusieurs toilettes et douches communes propres. Salle à manger sympa avec les tubes. Situé à 5min à pied d'un immense centre commercial.

Le déjeuner compris était très basique: lait, céréales, pain carré, thé, café. Taxe sur ajoutées à payer en plus à l'arrivée. Les vélos loués pour une après-midi et ils n'ont pas fait de geste commercial pour un prix réduit vu qu'on ne les utilisait pas 24h. De plus, les vélos étaient un peu vieux et ma selle tombait toujours. Un peu loin à pied de la terminal de bus.

Watch out when you book at this place. We ended up in a TENT, not in the tubes displayed in the pictures … There is free water available to drink in the kitchen and a fridge if you need. The wifi was perfectly working (in our tent).

Well, I booked a « room » and ended up in a tent which was completely overpriced. Felt a bit of a scam as you have to pay an obscure tax supposedly to the government. But this government only accept cash (weird), and does not provide any paper or proof of payment. There is a hand-written paper at the desk for sure — although with 30 pesos erased to become 35 pesos. When I did the booking I already paid this amount in « tax and charges » and was not supposed to pay anything more. When we arrived in the night we had to organise everything around getting to an ATM to withdraw money to pay this as the lady refused to give us the keys otherwise. We are now in another place and they never mentioned such a tax. Just to let you know, if you sleep in the tent you are right beside the common area, so everyone can pass during the night and the lights are never switched off ..

Por confusiones en la reservación, terminamos pagando por una carpa en el patio. Amanecimos todos enrronchados por los mosquitos. Durmiendo al lado de un gringo borracho. Otro fumando marihuana inundando el lugar. La reservación incluía un "desayuno" que terminó siendo pan con margarina y mermelada (que había que esperar que desocuparan para raspar el pote), café y te.

Le concept est original. Il permet d’avoir une intimité en Hostel. C’est très chouette. Le personnel donne de bons conseils en fonction de vos envies et budgets.

Je ne vais pas dire que je n’ai pas aimé car c’est normal. Cest assez naturel comme endroit donc il y a pas mal d’insectes donc prévoyez des anti moustiques. Prévoyez des choses pour le petit déjeuner en fonction de vos goûts car ça reste très simple.

Notre auberge coup de cœur de tout le séjour au Mexique ! Surtout grâce à l’accueil exceptionnel de Richie, qui a partagé ses meilleures recommandations (plages, cenotes, snorkeling avec les tortues, ruines…). Location de vélos sur place à prix abordable — parfait pour explorer facilement. Les espaces communs animés sont à l’avant, tandis que les chambres à l’arrière offrent un calme absolu. Emplacement idéal près du terminal d’autobus et des collectivos, avec une foule de restaurants à proximité. Grande cuisine conviviale, installations sanitaires (toilettes et douches) spacieuses, et petit déjeuner inclus pour bien démarrer la journée. On recommande les yeux fermés !

The hosts made our stay perfect! The amount of recommendations and information is wonderful! I stayed in the room. The bed was huge and the aircon great. Bathrooms are tidy and sowers have their private toilet and sink. Breakfast is basic but with some eggs or avocado from Chedraui you can easily upgrade it yourself.

Amazing place! It’s a little jungle sanctuary. The owner is very thoughtful about the environment and animals. Richie helped us to navigate in Tulum and also for next travels.

The hostel is actually OK, I would have given it a higher score, but...

...but the owner is so rude, even offensive. She communicated with us quite aggressively about minor things. I can not believe that a hostel owner can do that to her guests.

Alles war sehr sauber, die Badezimmer wurden mehrmals täglich gereinigt, das WLAN war fantastisch, mein Bett war bequem und das Personal war freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Das inklusive Frühstück war sehr minimalistisch. Aber das ist anscheinend normal in Quintana Roo. Tagsüber war es mir zu laut, aber das liegt daran, dass zur Zeit viel gebaut wird in Tulum.

La gentillesse du personnel et le lieu très très bien . Les chambres atypiques mais super je recommande fortement cet établissement.

The atmosphere is very welcoming and Joel made us feel right at home. He showed us around and the process to check in was smooth.

The tubes are thin so you can easily hear people outside when they pass by. We didn't mind it.

The central garden surrounded by units was like an oasis. The mattress in my room was very comfortable. Homey feel, given the resident.friendly cats and dogs. Staff were almost constantly sweeping and wiping and scrubbing.

A few more padded seats would have been nice.

Que si bien el impuesto al turista que hay que pagar ( 35 pesos por huésped por día y por noche) lo establece el municipio para absorber del turismo lo máximo, este debería estar incluido ya en el precio final de la reserva, y no enterarse por mensaje una vez que ya compré la reserva, porque si lo quiero cancelar ya pierdo dinero, hay una jugada media tramposa por allí.. Por esto pongo 8 y no 10

Excelente lugar para hospedarte, la ubicación, el lugar en la naturaleza y la atención del personal es muy buena, siempre atentos y brindando recomendaciones, tendrás cercanía del centro y la zona hotelera, es mi segunda vez hospedándome aquí, sin duda volveré.

Everyone here are so friendly and very helpful with any questions you have, we quickly hired bikes from the hostel, cycling is a great way to get around Tulum. The hostel is a treasure and in my opinion should be utilised if you are on a budget. In the future it could be difficult to find gems like this one. Breakfast is decent, bring your own and cook it up if you like, or choose from the coffee and cereal etc on offer, there is a huge new supermarket minutes up the road where you can purchase anything you require. The guests and staff are very welcoming, if you are social you can hang out in the communal areas where there are sometimes gatherings and language and culture classes, or just swing the day away in a hammock!

Turbo Tulum was the best! Ritchie, Joel, and Yvonne were all very helpful with friendly, practical advice for food, activities, and transportation. My room was so clean, comfortable, and cozy! I recommend the partial day trip to the underground cenote, which they sell admission for — amazing underwater views of the caves, and reasonably priced. Easy to walk to El Jaguar Park beach (about 30 minutes to park entry) or catch transportation. Biria restaurant just a small walk away had good food.

Excellent rapport qualité prix, accueil au top, auberge de jeunesse vraiment super, très bien placé, et je tiens vraiment à souligner la propreté des espaces communs et en particulier les sanitaires.

A lot of thought went into the design of the tubes. All the things a person might need were there: air conditioning, storage space, hooks, lights, outlets for charging. The greater space had a nice garden with seating, cooking and meeting space. The staff were helpful and friendly.

Le personnel très sympathique et à l'écoute. La chambre est conforme à la description et heureusement qu'il y a une clim. Les espaces communs sont très charmant et propre. Je recommande les yeux fermés.

Le petit déjeuner est simple mais bon. Les poubelles ne sont pas fermés donc il y a une odeur de caca dans les toilettes et sdb.

The only thing that made us give 7/10 was that the tent we stayed in smelled like piss unfortunately, which made it very unpleasant. Maybe because of the roaming cats, not sure. Easy fix by cleaning out that area tho.

Looks exactly like the photos. The vibe of the hostel is incredible, everything is clean (including common areas, WC and showers). The staff is very friendly, big up to Richy who was the nicest, the best with his recommandations and good plans. The kitchen is big and functional, you can store your food in the fridge. The location is very good, although you need a bike or a scooter to visit Cancun (no uber). you can rent a bike at 150$ at the hostel. There’s a big supermarket nearby, the public beach is 15 min by bike, and Pueblo neighbourhood is 18 min walk.

Be aware that the Tube is really tiny. You have to store your luggage under the bed. And too much mosquitos, don’t forget your spray !

Das Hostel ist eine kleine grüne Oase inmitten des trubeligen Tulums! Das Personal war immer mega freundlich, jederzeit ansprechbar und hat uns gute Tipps gegeben! Es war außerdem super sauber, ein großer Supermarkt war nur einen kurzen Spaziergang entfernt und auch die Hostel Küche war super! Wir würden immer wieder kommen :)

Der Raum hat etwas feucht gerochen, die positiven Dinge des Hostels haben das aber mehr als aufgewogen :)
