My wife and I stayed here for our wedding weekend and were thrilled with the experience. The staff was very warm and welcoming, and our room was spectacular. It was large enough for us to have guests over to hang out or help with wedding prep, but also cozy enough for us to rest and recuperate in.
We used the St. Paul Hotel as our headquarters for a family wedding and they took great care of us. The hotel is an older property that has been modernized beautifully. The location is excellent. The service by the staff was terrific. Only slight criticism is the Grill restaurant seemed a little expensive, but the food was excellent.
Great way to spend our anniversary getaway. Everything about our stay was perfect. Great view of the city from our room. Enjoyed the over all atmosphere & latte from their cafe.
We really enjoyed our stay! The location is perfect for events at the arena, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff were all helpful and friendly. This will be our new go to place for downtown events.
We love this hotel as it is so close to everything. The Christmas tree lighting was also going on so we were able to watch in our bedroom window.
One of our favorite places to stay in St Paul. Extremely friendly, amazing service and love the atmosphere. The rooms are beautiful and beds super comfortable. We have never been disappointed with our experience.
Excellent location. The staff were very welcoming and it's a charming and historical hotel. It brings a unique vibe and history you can really appreciate if that's your style. I will happily return as we were treated very well. This isn't our typical type of hotel but I loved it and we were made to feel special.
Best hotel experience in memory. Excellence all around , from service, to staff welcome, to lobby warmth, to the room itself. (Including the espresso at the lobby bar in the morning). Highly recommended
This is a gorgeous hotel! We loved our short stay. There was a welcome amenity and a well stocked mini bar. Gorgeous space!
This is a lovely hotel. Staff is great throughout. The food at the Drake and the St Paul Grill was wonderful. We will definitely return.
We had a great experience for a trip to the Minnesota Wild game. Super cool that we didn't have to go in to the cold using the skyways and tunnels.. Very Nice hotel with wonderful location.
We spent a couple nights at the St Paul hotel just as the Winter Carnival was starting. Bad planning on our part with -20+ F temperatures outside, nearly everything was cancelled. But, it was warm and toasty inside. The hotel was a buzz of activity. So many places to cozy up and relax or have spirited fun. Our room was amazing, just what we expected. Clean, roomy and plenty of amenities, and honestly, with so many guests having fun, we hardly heard a peep. I would highly recommend.
Every visit to the St Paul Hotel makes it feel like you are special and valued. Love, love the return to elegance and great customer service!
When we drove up to the St Paul Hotel, we were greeted by a professional doorman who opened my wife’s door, unpacked our bags from our car, and offered their valet parking service. Another doorman carted our bags and opened the door to a spacious, beautifully decorated lobby. We were cheerfully greeted by check-in staff who happily checked us in a bit early, without shaming us for trying to check in early or telling us that early check-in would incur an additional charge. Our 10th floor room was clean and spacious, with an amazing view of the Rice Park, Landmark Center, Ordway and the St Paul Basilica in the distance. We enjoyed cocktails and appetizers at the classic St Paul Grill bar, wine from the Lobby Bar (which we enjoyed in comfy chairs next to the fireplace) and breakfast at the Drake. And we were able to walk a block to see a show at the fantastic Ordway.
Person at front desk was curt when we asked if we could have room facing park Rooms are dated. Bathrobe felt like cardboard
We got married on January 10th. We had a fabulous experience, from the dinner at the Grill the evening before to the hospitality of staff during the day of. The expert planning of Selin Miller and staff was appreciated more than I can say. The whole wedding experience, from the ceremony to the reception, dinner and dance was beyond our expectations. And my husband said Sunday morning we had the best breakfast he'd ever had in his life. Thank you, Saint Paul Hotel! It was a once in a lifetime experience.
This hotel is highly overrated and honestly, I'm surprised they get any good reviews any more. I prefer historic hotels and stay in them often. I have stayed at The St. Paul quite a few times over the past 30+ years and it was always warm and friendly. However, I never will stay again. We just completed a two night stay there in a premium suite. The room itself was dingy and very poorly lit. The drain in the tub was so slow that you had to stand in water during your shower. The bathroom wasn't clean. The furniture was literally so dusty that my black pants had visible white dust on them. The whole room smelled dirty and musty. There was also not a single time during our stay that anyone at the reception desk greeted us, or acknowledged us in any way. The check-in person was curt and dismissive, and the checkout person didn't inquire about our stay, look directly at us, or really say anything to us aside from the bare minimum. There are a myriad of clean, beautiful, and welcoming hotels in the Twin Cities, but this is no longer one of them.
We chose this hotel as a special place to celebrate our 50th anniversary. The hotel was festive and vibrant, the room was lovely and service was perfect. Our room was on the 7th floor overlooking Rice Park. We had drinks & appetizers at the bar and then dinner later in the restaurant. Very happy with our stay.
We had a wonderful stay at The St. Paul Hotel. The setting is beautiful! We had a great view of Rice Park and the Christmas lights there from our room which we requested when booking. We dined at The St. Paul Grille and had an incredibly kind server and wait staff. The room service staff and valets were quick and helpful. We truly had a luxurious stay and would recommend this hotel to all of our friends and family.
Great historical hotel and Great Service. Thanks for the nice visit. Was in St. Paul to see friends and family for Christmas and to take in some entertainment. The hotel is 👌.
Our experience at the St. Paul Hotel was wonderful, however... This hotel is awesome! It's old yes, but rooms were very clean, staff was friendly - especially valet services. The show we saw (It's a Wonderful Life) was wonderful! Almost every experience we had was top notch. The only "bad" experiences we had were the prices of various things: the worst was the bar prices in the lobby (and probably in the main bar, too). You are given this small menu to order drinks and some small food items from. There were 3 drinks featured on the front page, along with prices ($11 - $14). We drank some of these and the drinks were wonderful and at a good price. The ladies in our group each asked for a glass of red wine. Our server brought pinot noir and it was delicious. However... there was no price in the menu and when we received the bill - we found that EACH GLASS cost $24! Our bill for 2 of us cost more than our stay in the hotel for the night. Shame on us for not asking the price of a glass of red wine. Buyer beware!!
The Christmas ambiance made our stay magical! Great atmosphere and clean hotel. Great staff and valet service was wonderful!
This is a historic, charming albeit outdated hotel in the heart of St. Paul. I was having a relatively good experience except tonight I called the front desk because we had been here three days and yet the hotel had not once replenished our room bottles, and I politely asked them to bring up two bottles of water. The hotel desk said they'd bring it up. At no point did the lady I spoke to allude to the cost of the bottles: I assumed they were complimentary given the omission but was nevertheless ready to pay a reasonable price. When the water arrived, the charge was $30. I kid you not, $30 for two 20oz bottles of water that each costs less than $3. I was and remain flabbergasted, except to top things off, I called the front desk and politely told them I had not opened the water and instead did not want to be charged for the bottles, though I kindly offered to pay for the room service charge and tax ($3). The lady at the front desk snarkily and abruptly said "ok", before proceeding to hang up on me. The charge was still there when I checked out. It is a shame that this hotel gouges and treats its guests this way.
Always love staying at this historic hotel. Very comfortable with amazing staff and food! Highly recommend this excellent hotel.
Had some Expedia credits to burn so we decided to take a local break at a wonderful Hotel 🏨……but it was a little cold the day we picked 🥶🥶👀
I love, love staying in St. Paul as opposed to the Minneapolis! And in big part because I try to stay at The Saint Paul Hotel... Classy with old style elegance is the name of the day there with a well trained, professional and courteous staff. And what a bonus having the St. Paul grill right as you come in the place for beverages or dinner. A true win-win!
What a great getaway stay! Enjoyed the old world style and service. Had a great lunch at the Grill and breakfast at the Landing. A perfect place to stay when attending an event at the Grand Casino arena or the Ordway. We highly recommend this hotel!
I stay there whenever I have a concert or a doing in downtown St Paul. I absolutely love it there. The staff is incredible!
Hotel is beautiful, rooms are outstanding, a very friendly helpful staff. Brunch was excellent. Parking was pricy. We did not know ahead of time that it would be $40.00/day. We needed our car numerous times during the four days and tipped the valet each time.
Location was excellent - just walked about 3 minutes to the arena for the concert. Nice bar/restaurant next to arena as well. Room is large for a older hotel and the fitness center was well equipped!
Beautifully appointed rooms, attentive and professional staff, and a less than 5 minute walk to the Excel / Grand Casino Arena. Appreciated the 24hr valet service, the luxurious decor, and the food (and cocktails!) in the restaurants was superb. It was all perfect, and we look forward to staying with you again!
Dozens of stays at The St. Paul and never had anything but the best service and the most attentive staff. The food is always great and the location makes all of downtown St. Paul walkable.
We stayed at the Saint Paul Hotel in order to attend an opening night of the opera. It was directly across the street from the Ordway, so it was super convenient to attend the opera. It was a nice hotel and we had a wonderful meal at the Grille downstairs.
The room was comfortable and the beds were absolutely great. The valet service is courteous and convenient. The food (steaks) was very delicious and the wait staff were friendly and helpful.
We stayed here for my daughter's wedding. It's such a beautiful place and the service is great. We were able to use a separate room to get ready for the wedding - it was perfect!
We stayed in a Landmark King Suite on the 10th floor for three nights while in town visiting family. The views over Rice Park were fantastic, from the beautiful St. Paul Public Library, the Mississippi, the old Schmidts Brewery, to the James J. Hill House, to the Cathedral, to the Landmark Center, to the partial view of the State Capitol. The room was lovely, with a very comfy bed and premium amenities, but it is a bit tight for the amount of furniture in the room. Need to be careful not to stub your toe or hit a shin when moving around. The bathroom was not up to 21st Century standards, with an old bathtub and a toilet that must hold three gallons of water per flush, but everything was spotlessly clean and in good working order, with a solid Speakman shower head with excellent water pressure and plenty of hot water. I was impressed with the elevators: only two, but very fast, never had to wait more than a few seconds. And of course the St. Paul Grill is fabulous. We had been there several times before, so knew what to expect, and ot didn't disappoint, whether for a family luncheon in the dining room or drinks in the bar. As the younger man in the elevator said to me, "Kinda bougie." Yes, definitely bougie, but in the very best sense if you can appreciate it, as we do.
We had a delightful stay at the hotel after visiting family and a delicious dinner at the St. Paul Grill. It was a fantastic night out!
My room was on the street side which I have never had it was very noisy kept me awake
Overall great location, clean and nice staff! Food and drink options have limited hours so had to go outside the hotel to restaurants.
The staff is just outstanding at every turn. Helpful doesn't even begin to describe them!
Excellent location for our event! Great staff & service.
Great stay
loved it
Cool old hotel
Great food at the restaurant
Great hotel and an ideal location cause us to choose this hotel above the dated feel and amenities.
This hotel is in a great location to be able to easily access various venues. It’s so nice to just park the car for the night and walk to a concert. Great restaurant right in the hotel as well! Hotel staff are helpful and polite and just make you feel welcomed. Rooms are clean and very comfortable! I will definitely stay here again!
Beautiful facility and excellent service. The staff is professional and friendly.
Beautiful stay, charming rooms an exquisite hotel. Highly recommmend
Great place in a great location in downtown St. Paul, across from a nice park and beautiful buildings. Restaurants were great and service was friendly and attentive. Our room was very comfortable.
This was a beautiful upscale hotel near the Ordway with restaurants nearby. Loved it!
Very nice upscale atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable
Lovely stay at the hotel! Will stay again!
The historic charm+
Staff was always cheerful and helpful and knowledgeable.
Central location
Staff were very polite and respectful.
Great location! Beautiful property
Staff is welcoming, efficient, and quietly taking care of everyone. Clean room. Decor is tasteful. Comfortable bed. Great quality of bedding. Great restaurants onsite. This was a real treat staying here. Thank you.
very nice room....were upgraded to a king room. super convenient to see an event at the Ordway. Great view of the river.
We stayed for a concert and it was perfect. Great area, safe for walking and hotel had everything we needed!
Na
Amazing (as usual). My hotel of choice for a pampering nights stay. Staff was friendly, hotel was comfortable and the filet mignon was exquisite. The perfect night away from home.
My husband needed to be downtown for a hockey coach workshop. The St. Paul Hotel was perfect for the both of us. Excellent service, and staff. Beautiful grounds and architecture.
It’s all around a great place to stay. Walking distance to most things in the area, staff was wonderful, and the food was great. As a once professional cleaner though I felt our room was dirty, there was Cheeto dust on a pillow, dead bugs on the wall and around, things were dusty, windows were very dirty, and there were a lot of finger prints on everything. Cleaning process must have been rushed or short handed.
Really beautiful and clean hotel.
Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was excellent. Room was clean but somewhat dated.
Cleanliness, easy to make changes, very helpfulstaff.
Valet parking and historic building in downtown St. Paul. Very nice!
Is one of the hotels that has demonstrated the most consistency for cleanliness and friendly staff. It is our “go to” hotel when we are in the area.
Old-fashioned charm, large, comfortable lobby, lovely and generously-sized room, excellent staff. Dinner at the St. Paul Grill was delicious and I spent every early morning in the Lobby Bar. Our experience could not have been better,
Really enjoyed our stay in every way!
Very nice stay - very quiet. We enjoyed
such a beautiful hotel
Clean, comfortable
Friendly staff, made it all seamless. Room was clean! Beautiful hotel.
Beautiful old hotel! So much charm and convenience of valet parking. Will definitely stay again.
Nostalgic elegance with great staff and central location.
We have been coming and staying at the St. Paul Hotel for the past 8 years. It’s conveniently located to restaurants and coffee shops. The food at the hotel is also very good. The front desk is friendly and helpful. The valet personnel are engaging and do a great job. We will be back next time we are in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
A very short stay but I would stay here again. Staff is extremely nice , while the hotel room is a bit dated, it maintains a historical feel and it is very clean. We opted for valet as parking as there didn’t seem to be any parking nearby due to events around the hotel. The bartenders at the primary bar were great.
Always a pleasure staying there.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. The main lobby was a nice place to hangout by the fireplace.
Fantastic experience. From arrival to departure every aspect of this stay was all class. Beautiful room, beautiful view, beautiful experience.
nice
A one night stay for business. Great bar and servers. It could not have been any better! Bravo to this jewel in St Paul for their rooms, service and people!
Great hotel and staff!
The staff at the restaurant could have been a little more professional considering the status of it.
Beautiful hotel, but extremely expensive. Only parking available is 45$ valet parking. Not a Fan of spending my money on frivolous things if possible!
St. Paul Hotel was a very nice hotel. The guest room was exceptionally clean and well appointed. Dinner in the hotel was very good and the wait staff very pleasant.
Great place to stay, but hotels.com got me another rooftop view so I was looking at the AC units out my window again. Always, bad views using this app. This hotel is always nice and it’s a great location. The bar/restaurant closes at 11 is the only thing they need to change.
This is a classic property with modernized rooms. It is right in the heart of downtown, near to many venues. While they have no self-parking on property (valet available) there are several structures nearby that are connected by skywalks.
Wonderful location and fantastic service by the staff. The restaurants are excellent and the food is very good. Unfortunately the lobby and guest rooms are very tired and are in need of a major remodel. It is a Grand Dam hotel that is very clean but the interiors are quite dated and feel old. Missed opportunity to revive it up to current luxury hotel standards. Wish the owners would invest in her future.
A truly great hotel. Excellent, well maintained room, great staff, a top quality restaurant and elegant, excellent in room dining. My wife became ill during our stay and the staff could not have been more helpful, concerned and engaged. The valet and bell captain service were truly excellent and always helpful.
Exquisite dining, fabulous scotch/whiskey bar, a Maxing staff who were so nice! Would highly recommend!!! Great stay. Would definitely come back.
Lovely hotel, great location but you may want to call them before you go. My room had an unpleasant odor; they tried to spray but it never really went away. They didn't follow up either. It wasn't unbearable, just unpleasant. I booked 2 rooms; they put us on floors 2 and 10 . . . why does that make sense? The hotel says it is because they only have 1 of the suites that I booked on each floor. I asked for any regular room closer, they said they didn't have any but were able to move the room on 10 to 5. I booked the suites because that is all that was available. I wish I had known the issue before I booked. It really makes no sense to be that far apart when you are traveling in a group - that changes the dynamic. Finally, I don't ride elevators because I am claustrophobic. This hotel has no public stairs. Each time I entered the hotel I had to get an escort to a private stairway. The staff was pleasant about it but it was an issue. Other than those things, the hotel is lovely, and the staff is nice. The bedding was very comfortable, and the shower pressure was amazing.
Yes, there was very nice. Super helpful. Would recommend staying in. Will stay again.
Great stay! Very nice property. Staff was absolutely fantastic. 10/10
Lovely hotel! Very clean and quiet!
The Saint Paul is my favorite Twin Cities hotel. It’s beautifully appointed, the front desk and valet are always very pleasant as are the staff at both The Saint Paul Grill and The Drake. The grounds are lovely and the park across the street is very nice. The views of the capitol building, the Landmark Center and the River are picturesque. Within walking distance there are several very good restaurants in varying price points with diverse cuisines, as well as coffee shops bakeries, breweries and live music venues. The hotel offers a fitness center but there is a nice path for running along the river for those who abhor a treadmill like my husband. For me it’s really an ideal hotel.
The people here are the best. The Drake in the basement for breakfast is an absolute must! So good. While the decor is not modern, nothing appeared threadbare or worn. Lovely experience.
