Beautiful property Great customer service
It’s a nice old place, it does not matches the picture in the website. The restaurant food is great and the costumer service outstanding. The price was more than the one I was quoted when I made the reservations. Too expensive for the value of the rooms. The place is under remodeling
The property is very well maintained.
I stayed with my family this past weekend and was very pleasantly surprised. The facilities were very clean and the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. My only "negative" is that the restaurant was a bit overpriced for the offerings. I was told (and saw) that the restaurant will be getting remodeled soon as it does need some updating. I look forward to hopefully visiting again.
Excellent hotel. I will come back definitely and recommend it to my friends and family.
Room was excellent!! I was disappointed with the check in process since the check in desk is the same for lot buyers who are making payments and/or servicing their contracts. I had to wait long time before I was attended by someone. Other than that everting was great and our stay was very pleasant
Several of the photos are perhaps fraudulent or very outdated. The broad description of the facility is I think not accurate. I wish especially for the price there was hot showers.
It was very peaceful around the ranch and the hospitality was incredible!
Lo único que no me gusto fue los muebles de el restaurante, pero solo eso todo lo demás excelentemente incluido la comida
The property is nice. We didn't get to use the pool but it looked nice. The room can use some upgrades. The furniture, the walls, design were worn out and a bit beat up. Other than the room itself, the place was nice.
Great place to have a relaxing time. Very clean, nice and we got complementary coffee and bottle of wine. Very nice and probably will stay there again soon.
Wonderful classic Mexican resort with great architecture and furnishings, manicured grounds, and luscious pool area. Our go-to location when driving north from the wine country.
Great customer service
Beautiful stay, location and staff were great. The problem was that I did not get the room I paid for. When I booked I requested a room with vineyard view, and agreed o pay the additional room fee. Ion check in I was told that there were no rooms with such views. I want to be charged for a regular room. And that option should be removed as it is deceiving to your clients.
Awesome Place 😎
Very clean and quiet place, great views of the mountains with a lot of outdoor activities and good food
Property is beautiful. We need more time next time to enjoy.
Lovely property. Peaceful and quiet and away from the road. Would love to return another time.
Beautiful ranch and excellent service.............
Large room; excellent food at restaurant; great staff.
Rancho Tecate offers peace and relaxation. The surroundings are gorgeous and I enjoyed my strolls around the property. There are vineyards, mountains, palm trees and a lake. So beautiful! The pool doesn’t close and there are comfortable cabanas. Just wish the pool was heated at night. The staff is very friendly.
property was great, nice quiet. I loved the rustic look. I justed wished the roads would have been paved. We stayed in a Villa which had all the amenities, very confy beds got great sleep.
Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Beautiful land overall and great experience. Overall price should include breakfast or at least continental. Great time and will definitely come back again.
We stayed at Rancho Tecate, as a family friend had their wedding on the grounds. We decided to make it a weekend get-a-way, and stay over night. Although the room itself was fairly nice, it definitely did not warrant the price-tag it came with. We seemed to be the only one staying on the premesis, which made it nice and quite, but almost too quite. We're hoping it was because it was off season. Upon arriving to the building where our room was located, the windows of most of the rooms either had sheets hung up to serve as curtains or old 1970s draperies with white crumpled vinyl backing; making it feel like something straight out of the movie Psycho. No chance of getting killed in the shower though, as there was no hot water to take a shower. Without a hot shower, I decided on a hot cup of coffee to wake up. Unfortunately, the coffee maker was broken. The "free WiFi" was spotty, and we were not able to stay consistently connected in our room. The only saving grace of this resort is the food at the restaurant on the grounds. Everything else was sub-par and creepy. I would not recommend staying here.
I was never able to check in, the entry gate personal did not have my information as the receptionist disk did not updated it for the day therefore I was denied access Unprofessional and worse experience ever
We always enjoy visits to this unique property and hotel. Very traditional Mexican style hotel, staff have always have a smile and do everything to make your visit great! The property has some interesting history and even more potential.
Amazing weather, beautiful mountains ⛰, welcoming staff, delicious food and drinks. Great getaway from the routine 💗 Highly recommended to anyone who wants to experience old western style hospitality. Oh, their massage service was definitely worth it 🙏
Absolutely amazing! Gorgeous place to stay!
Rancho tecate is a nice place. A bit expensive for the quality of rooms and service. Rooms are spacious and clean comfortable beds. But walls are way to thin. I got stuck with rowdy neighbors heard them all night and early morning definitely didn't get a restful night. Besides that hot water wasn't functioning, called front desk was told they would send someone right away and no one came. Went to front desk to let them know my stay wasn't a 4.5 star service. I would say it was 2 star over their nonchalant attitude.
We met friends at the site to further travel south in Mexico.
I dont do a lot of reviews but I had to do this one first my hat off for the staff very friendly and helpful but as far as the facilities I mean our room rate was high, very high for the lack of quality per night and the condition of the facilities are not worth it period tv did not work, the bathroom door would not close ,the water pressure was a joke I mean huge shower stall and no hot water bad very bad food I was told the restaurant was good well I guessed they meant for dinner the breakfast was a buffet type check out the food and the first thing I say was cut up wiennies, not good at all passed on such delicious treat not 3 star ot 2 but one hope this helps cleaning up the hotel it needs ii bad
It was a good stay. Liked the quiet and peaceful stay. Good views and nice walks.
I expected more....It was loud at night. I could hear the people from the room next to me.
lots of potential. Need to have better cleaning and equipping of rooms. I realize it is an old place, but they are charging like a quality hotel. Food at restaurant great. Horse program needs devoloping more
Hotel grounds was beautiful! Pool was ice cold but my kids enjoyed the jacuzzi. Hotel staff was amazing. Can’t wait to return!
We had never been to Tecate and stumbled upon this property. It was truly amazing. Old school charm with a flair of newness. The cleanliness, hospitality, and food FAR surpassed anything in the states for a fraction of the price. Sure, the property is dated, but that is part of the charm. We can't wait to return!
Wonderful old rancho refurbished rooms and great service. Clean peaceful and very close to central Tecate. Great staff. Restaurant alone is worth the trip. Food is on par with San Diego's best eateries.
Incredible getaway. Good food, good wine, good service.
The hotel is a little short on signage, but we managed to find it. It's in the middle of a vineyard on a huge piece of property. It's older, but it has a wonderful Mexican ambience..tile, wrought iron and amazing old wood furniture with hammered metal and iron pulls. It has the authentic Hacienda feel.
The staff is fantastic! Just took an overnight. Not really for couples. The grounds need some tending, a little gardening and it'll be really an upgrade. Comfortable room with a a tiny window looking out on an unkempt area. Pool was filled with kids, not enough lounges. However, with some attention to details surely this property will indeed excel. My previous 3 stays in Tecate have been at Rancho La Puerta. I didn't expect RLaP, but I did expect a bit quieter. World traveler here, doesn't mean I won't return to see future improvements. Their potential is open, good luck!! And Thank you to David and Francisco right off the bat!!
Great place for breakfast, other than that dinner is too expensive and horrible quality of food. Reserve horseback riding and they overbooked, waited 2 hours. Horrible place overall. Never will return. They will call you many time to offer to purchase land on their property.
Beautiful hotel ,great service , room service cleaned our room and stocked us up . The prices are reasonable . We will definitely go back!
A beautiful property. Vineyards and wine are lovely. I took my girlfriend- we had a great time!
Had a wonderful time at the hotel, I was very surprised with the hotel's professional entire staff and the beauty of the hotel. Highly recommended
The place is beautiful, makes you want to have your own wedding or honey moon there. Every room is different but still pretty. They also offer horseback riding and tour; which is a must! Bar food is good and best strawberry margarita!
We had a great experience, the staff was great, attentive and very helpful. They welcome us with their house wine and some goodies. We were there for the Quinceanera, the location and the resort we both beautiful. I would definitely stay there again.
This place is heaven! Rooms have been renovated and are really nice, the horseback riding is great, the pool is perfect.
It was wonderful. planning to go back soon
More than expected, great service by all staff, spacious room, comfortable beds and wonderful atmosphere. I would only replace carpets.
Loved it! Amazing experience, beautiful place indeed magic!
4 1/2 stars out of 5! This place was almost perfect. Beautiful landscapes, Fantastic friendly service, Amazing room at a low price and a wonderful restaurant too! Would be perfect except for the shower. Couldn't balance the water temperature at all. Too hot or too cold, nothing in between. Once that is fixed 5 stars all the way!
The quality of the hotel rooms is comparable to a cheap motel. Very thin walls - you can hear people in the other rooms and in the corridor. The room was supposed to have a view of the golf course - but instead, it was a view of a roof over the restaurant - with air conditioning units, pipes, cables, old cans of paint, various debris... The side roads are not paved and every time it rains you need to make sure your can get over uneven and rough dirt. The bathrooms are tiny and outdated, not sure about cleaningless...
Hotel experience was great, many things to do and relax. The only thing I suggest is improving the restaurant menu. It's too limited for its prices...other then that, see you soon!
The only negatives about this hotel were the dirty placemats in the restaurant (every day), no heat in the rooms (but they did give us a portable heater), takes about 5 minutes for the water to get hot in the rooms, very ugly plastic fake fruit and other decorations throughout the hotel and restaurant.
The area is nice and the concept is great for a weekend getaway. The best was the service from all staff. The down side was the room that had and old carpet that didn't feel clean. The bathroom did not have any nice details and was outdated. We chose that hotel and locations because they have horses that one can ride for a reasonable fee, but once we arrived we were told that we could not ride on the horses because there was an "event" and they were going to use the horses for such event, it was truly disappointing. At first the rate for the hotel seemed to be very good, but after looking at the room and not having the main amenity (horse riding) available, the rate was not that good after all. We recommend that before you make the booking, you confirm the amenities that will be available during the days that you are planning to visit Rancho Tecate.
I live in San Luis Obispo California. Mom and I craved took a road trip to spend the day in Tacate, Maxico, off we went. The mement we walked into the room serenity and comfort felt crisp in the are. We immediately forgot about the many miles we had driven and felt at home in the clean, spacious serine ambiance. Excellent security, staff is welcoming and honest. The hotel could be more acomodationg to handicap visitor but over all we had a fantastic experience. ❤️ We absolutely recommend it,
It was a nice stay at Rancho Tecate, I personally enjoy the comfort of the room since it was very spacious, clean and comfortable. My wife and I stay for two nights and do some activities the place offered to do, special thanks to Carlos the man in charge of the horse rides; very knowledgeable and a nice person. The food at the in-site restaurant was delicious, my only complaint is that there is just the choice of buffet through the morning until 5pm, and the buffet was delicious but a little bit expensive, so what happen if there is someone wants another meal?? In general, it is a nice place, perfect for couple and families.
We went to Rancho Tecate Resort this past week with friends, stayed two days, and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The staff was courteous and very helpful, as well as knowledgeable about the history and future plans for the resort. Our rooms were very comfortable and spacious with all of the amenities expected from a first class resort. The restaurant is of the same high quality as the rest of the resort with food as delicious as in any high-end restaurant but at a fraction of the cost. We will return for another visit.
If peace and tranquility is what you are looking for, this is the place to stay. great rooms, great service, great stay.
I born in Tecate 53years ago and I left my home town when I was 14 years old I had e very good experience I will be back soon
The hotel was a gem of a find. It's off the busy streets of Tecate, above the city. You will have to watch carefully for the signs pointing to the entrance but once there you'll love it! It has an old world rustic ranch charm and very friendly and helpful staff. We got in to late to see most of the grounds but what we did see was immaculate. I'd stay here again in a flash!
Perfect spot for the family
Gorgeous grounds, lovely people.
Everything was great...especially the service. The staff was great, courteous and very friendly. The only minor complaint is the WiFi signal throughout the hotel was pretty weak. Other than that, great place to stay at!
Great place. Very relaxing, staff is trying to help you in any possible. Looks like they working on quite a few upgrades, planning to clean the lake, add spa and gym, would be great. I highly recommend to ask for property tour, very interesting to see (probably would be more interesting if guide would speak English or we would understand Spanish) but good anyway. Restaurant is great as well. Wine tasting is little expensive, 250 pesos (about $17) even snobby California wineries don't charge that much. Room is very clean and comfortable, the only minus is that water is hard to control, always jumps from scolding hot to cold. But overall - great experience, would love to come again.
Everything was great.just two things, some of the activities were closed and the steak was very undercooked. But the staff wasPHENOMENAL and they all deserve a raise!
The food was phenomenal. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful and the beds were very comfortable. The grounds are beautiful. The only downside is that it is hard to find in the dark: I would recommend that you get detailed directions and don't rely on the Google maps.
If you desire quietness this is the place. The rooms are great. Fit for a Queen/ King...
It’s a good place to getaway, quiet, relaxing, you can go for walks, horseback riding (no extra charge), and rest and spend quality time together without having to rush to do anything or go anyplace. Feels cozy, and it does feel like a ranch, like staying at your grandparents ranch with vintage furniture a little mismatch but part of the charm, very cute in that way; it was so quite which was great to relax. The room had a funky smell, maybe have some plug inns, we lighted a candle and it helped. Also there is only one restaurant on premises, but they have fridge in the room, bring snacks.
Room was not too bad, toilet seat had quite a few cracks and chips, and in one corner a very large black stain. Other then that, the bed was nice and comfortable, had problems with the television and someone came up from the desk within 5 minutes. Overall the staff was pretty friendly, some spoke English. grounds looked nice, it was raining so i didn't get to go out and see the rest of the property. Will definitely stay again on another get away~!
Excellent service and food
Rancho Tecate is a beautiful resort just minutes across the Tecate border. The original ranch house is over 100 years old, decorated beautifully with lots of traditional character. The staff was very friendly and attentive from the moment we arrived - we were even greeted with a welcome drink during checkin. The hotel is surrounded by vineyards and lovely desert atmosphere. The Andalusian horses were gorgeous! Rancho Tecate is a great place to get away from reality for a few days. I will definitely be back.
We came across into Mexico and this was not a planned destination. It was great here! We only expected a room only. We were given welcome drinks, cheese platter and a choice of free activities: we chose the horseback riding and really enjoyed it. This is an older ranch being updated and is a nice change from the American box style resorts with resort fees and sterile environment. The people were genuine and very helpful. A huge comfortable room. We had a great stay! Hasta Luego !
