The grounds and village was lovely
Small room, no view, reception staff when we arrived not adequate for job, No bar menu has to have restaurant menu We didn’t get asked for what drinks we would like in restaurant and I could go on as it wasn’t that special
This Inn is set in beautiful grounds...by the River Eye. It's gorgeous
Location Comfy bed
Restaurant food wasn’t very interesting in the evening But breakfast was very good
In a beautiful setting
Opened door to our room & someone else’s bags already in there, moved to another room which was boiling hot and a lot smaller, asked to be moved and was told fully booked, complained and was found another room which had food smells coming in from kitchen, will never stay here again
Beautifully appointed and an excellent location in the heart of the cotswolds.
Most of the staff were friendly and trying hard to serve everyone, but they could use more staff so that waiting times are not so long. Also, the elderly barman should retire. He is obviously overworked and unable to keep up the demanding pace.
Very nice Inn with very good restaurant for both breakfast and dinner. We had a marvellous and very large room.
Nice bedroom with very comfortable bed. Very pretty location and short walk to village centre and sights. Enjoyed dinner. Good menu and nice dining room looking out over the garden.
Breakfast was very average and poorly presented. Although it was table service for food, for some reason fruit juice was self service with a very messy table and sticky jugs (mostly empty). Cereal came as a small portion with spoon unceremoniously plonked in bowl, which seemed odd (rather than being on the table with the other cutlery). Cooked breakfast was nice.
The staff were excellent, especially the head waiters in the restaurant.
Drinks were expensive, but I’m from the north east so the increase will be more noticeable.
Breakfast was average to be honest
Quantity of breakfast was a little on the poor side
The roll top bath!! Very spacious rooms, very clean and comfortable
Location, cleanliness attentive staff and good food
Nothing
Stunning location. Lovely friendly staff.
The room wasn’t very clean. Lots of cobwebs, a little dusty. The soft furnishings were not clean.
Perfectly located for walking to neighbouring villages. Very comfortable room, good food and pleasant gardens to enjoy.
Nothing to not like
We got upgraded to a cottage on arrival. The property was a lot nicer than I thought it would be & gorgeous surroundings

Very clean and spacious room in a beautiful village. Very close to Stow-On-The-Wold and Bourton-On-The-Water!
Location
Dated, old stained cabinets. Not clean. No investment in infrastructure
Location is beautiful with large lawn backing onto a stream in an idealic village.
Difficult to think of anything!
Location is absolutely beautiful and the weather was fabulous when we stayed which made it all the more enjoyable Room very good, nice toiletries, particularly good breakfast
Long wait in the bar when we went for a drink (around 18.30ish), no staff behind bar at all!

Nice relaxing break. Very clean. Nice evening meal. Great breakfast. Lovely location.
Chap behind the bar didn't seem very happy in his work. Lower slaughter is a lovely place but after a walk round unfortunately there isn't a lot to do. That's not the hotels fault, but we would prefer a few shops.
Immerso nella campagna
It’s a beautiful property. Great location
Nothing
The location was perfect. The scenery was so beautiful and the outside area was ideal for pets. They are very pet friendly and had 2 bowls and a bed for our dog in the room.
It was very hot in the room. The fan was very small and the cord was almost not long enough to reach a plug socket so that you could have the fan facing where it should be. The room felt also a little small for a couple with a dog. With the bags and etc the dog didn’t have much space on the floor.
Nice hotel. We had to cancel our stay as there was a horrible smell in our allocated room. The staff were very helpful but were unable to change our room as they were fully booked so we were refunded our payment
Bad smell in our allocated room
The breakfast options were excellent Service very friendly and punctual
Chose the pancake option for breakfast: nice, but was expecting French/English style crèpes or (American) fluffy flapjacks Perhaps try a new recipe? Social areas looked like it needed a spring clean, although perhaps understandable in the recent extreme heat conditions
Comfortable bed and garden
It is looking tired and in need of some TLC.
We love the location. We loved our room and there was ample parking. There are some wonderful walks to Burton on the water and upper slaughters.
We found the meals very expensive. We found the gentleman in the bar short of rude with his manner serving us and other customers. It was almost as if he hated his job.
Lovely restaurant. Excellent restaurant manager and delicious food. Comfortable bed.
Bar staff unfriendly and lacked enthusiasm.Ignored at the bar on one occasion during our 2 night stay.
The best stay during my travel in UK. Cozy and quiet hotel and room in a lovely village. Breakfast and dinner were great. We love our room Common Lane. Yes the free parking was really helpful for us. I wish I could spend more days in the village and this hotel.
nothing.
The breakfast was particularly impressive.
No aircondition, but it was no problem during our stay.
Perfect location and amenities.

Location is gorgeous!!! If you look for real England - it is here!

Location, staff and room were excellent. The full English breakfast was high quality.
The dinner menu could be a little more expansive / varied.
Las habitaciones amplias, limpias. La ubicación y el edificio de ensueño. El personal muy servicial. Las camas muy cómodas.
Faltaba caja fuerte.
De schitterende locatie, ligging en sfeervolle inrichting.

Location and building
Restaurant and food and very small bathroom and shower
Staff and location
Poor food quality and insufficient staff
Location was excellent Breakfast was excellent Room was great
Stairs to bedroom bit steep and on the room it said bath robes robes provided but there wasn't any
Beautiful location!! Very friendly staff.
Not 5 Star. Hotel bar area and reception looking dated along with the rooms .
The room was very comfortable and the bed was great.
I didn’t like the location of our room as outside tge window was a set of bins which the smell drifted into our room. Also it was quite noisy where staff were filling the bins from the bar. I did not like the attitude of some staff as they appeared not to want to be there. The food that we had in the restaurant was poor in the evening and not worth how expensive it was.
Nice Cotswold property with extensive outdoor area, lounges comfortable, bathroom fine but prefer a walkin shower.Breakfast was very good with good choices.Staff were very friendly
Room too hot no air conditioning.as the weather was extremely hot the duvet was far too thick, hot and heavy
Lovely historic buildings and gorgeous country setting. It's a stunning little village to stroll through at dusk [or anytime, really] and you can experience Bourton-on-the-Water without the masses of people.
The room was comically stuffy and hot throughout our stay, but because there were insects and bugs [including an 8cm-wide spider and an unrelenting stream of flying-biting-things], we could not have the windows open at night. A fan was provided, but it only was a very small desk fan - they really aren't built for or capable of moving air around an entire bedroom. Additionally, there was a fairly constant smell of wastewater/sulfur/bathroom odours from the windows facing to the east. Lastly, the quality of food sent out from the kitchens seemed to vary quite a bit between each of the 3 dinners and 3 breakfasts we had. Each time, something was either raw, burnt, or missing entirely. I'm not exaggerating and I'm absolutely not a Karen - the food overall was VERY tasty! However, when a medium-rare steak order is served blue, sausages are served burnt [actually ashy], three slices of toast are provided at breakfast on day one and only one half-slice on day three, only knives are provided even after asking for other cutlery [good luck eating soup from a knife], and a tomato and feta salad has feta on one day but not the next two, I don't know how else to describe it [these were all different meals, by the way].
Beautiful location. Amazing building. Our room was perfect! Comfortable bed, shower powerful, lots of space. We went for my wife’s birthday and they left a gift of different fudges, with happy birthday written in chocolate on a plate.
Bathroom needed some TLC. Cracked floor tiles and sink had a crack in it. However this is not in any way a negative just an observation as it did not impact our stay.
Excellent property, great location, professional staff. Loved the breakfast.
The beddings (mattress, pillow, bed sheet quality) has room for improvement
Great location, exceptional property. Free upgrade to a cottage when we arrived
Old male serving behind bar. Never smiled or was welcoming
Location, location, location Walks Village
Being scammed through Booking.com by a bad actor wanting payment in advance to secure the booking. I gave out credit card details but realized quickly and cancelled credit card. Very inconvenient. Booking.com should be on top of this fraudelent activity. You do have a message on your booking confirmation but it should be much louder. Combining two single beds into a double - very uncomfortable
Beautiful setting by the river. Comfortable rooms & lovely breakfast
Evening menu was limited and food we ate average
All of it
We did not like the bath tub in the bedroom, will not book that room again
Beautiful grounds. Room was large
Restaurant staff wasn’t particularly friendly. Inconsistent with food presentation as I ordered the same thing each day for breakfast
Quiet, relaxed atmosphere. Wonderful staff.
No A/C
Beautiful property, top location, good food, friendly staff.
No air conditioning - would only stay again outside of summer!
Stedet hotellet befant seg. Idyllisk, sjarmerende rolig område. Fint hotellrom. Rent og stort. God seng. God frokost.
Dårlig middagsopplevelse og personalet kunne kanskje vært litt mer imøtekommende og serviceinnstilt.
Lovely clean room, great location and beautiful gardens
The B&B itself was clean, comfortable and perfectly pleasant. However, the breakfast and dinner service felt rather impersonal. The staff weren't particularly warm or engaging, there were very few smiles or conversation and the overall atmosphere lacked welcoming hospitality
The location was great. A lovely secluded spot in a very pretty village. Breakfast was plentiful but service was a little slow. We had dinner one night which also was tasty.
The room and bathroom especially were filthy. The first night I found cobwebs under the bath and dust around the tiles. The mirror and bedside tables were thick with dust and when we arrived back the next day after being out from 9.30 until 16.00, the room had not been serviced. After complaining at reception, the lady said they would service it right away. We went out and purchased ice cream while we waited for it to be done. The excuse was that they needed to get arrivals rooms ready before the in-house guests! We wanted to charge the ice creams to the room but the staff member didn't know how to do that! We came back to the room and again the bathroom was still dirty. A razor I dropped down the side of the bath the night before and couldn't reach to pick up was still there. They had not replaced any of the shampoos etc. and the stain from my cleanser I used that morning was still on the sink. This is such a shame as this inn is in such a beautiful setting and has so much potential.
* The setting is stunning. The gardens and outdoor areas are beautiful, well maintained and very relaxing. * Our room was spacious, exactly as requested (and paid for), with two separate areas, making it ideal for travelling with children. * The staff were friendly throughout our stay.
EN Paying more than £500 per night creates very high expectations, and unfortunately this hotel falls well short of them. The first thing we noticed was the strong smell of frying oil around the gardens as soon as we got out of the car. It certainly wasn’t the welcome we expected.
We had one of their cottage rooms ie lounge downstairs and en suite bedroom above . It was a wonderful overnight stop to break our journey from Cornwall to Norfolk. A late availability bargain.
Pricey drinks
Location was breathtaking
Seemed a bit dated. But clean and comfortable
The facilities, location, meals, staff were excellent.
No air conditioning during the unusual (although becoming more frequent) heatwave we endured.
Stunning hotel in a great location
Rooms with upstairs bedrooms - probably great for younger people but not so good for us. We are pensioners with limited mobility and found it difficult to negotiate the steep flight of stairs between the bedroom and bathroom. If it wasn't for this we would have enjoyed our stay much more
The accommodation was set in a peaceful village where time had stood still. The rooms were very comfortable and the staff helpful and friendly. The Village was very lovely to walk through.
A fridge in the room would have been great considering it was the hottest June days on record a
Well equipped clean rooms . Polite efficient staff. Good facilities on site
Nothing to dislike.
The place was so beautiful, and relaxing
The cost of drinks
Grounds were stunning, staff were excellent very attentive, bed and pillows very comfortable location great will visit again
There was nothing not tk like
The location and scenery if ok.
I did not enjoy my stay in the Cotswolds (too crowded and oversold) and in the hotel (hot water stopped flowing just before we were about to have a bath and the temperature in the room can not be adjusted). This is frustrating if you are paying almost $500 for the room. Skipping this region altogether would be the best thing that I I should have done!
The location
The food was unfortunately below average
Breakfast was very nice. Room very comfortable. Staff very friendly
Woken up at 6.30am by bins being collected. Some dishes unavailable at dinner and breakfast
The position of the hotel is beautiful the breakfast was lovely and the breakfast staff.
Definitely not a 5 star hotel. The reception area not maned all the time cleanliness very poor staircases not hoovered the light in reception is awful red colour with cobwebs all over them. Reception area very poor. The rooms need updating and not very clean. Very expensive for what facilities you got. No fridge in the room bathrooms need updating. Pillows very uncomfortable cobwebs in room. Carpets very shabby bed linens need upgrading for a 5 star hotel. Blind on arrival was broken no dressing gowns or slippers for a 5 star hotel. Rooms very hot.
Lovely room and setting
Staff we overworked. Rude and miserable. Slow service at bar. We were told they were understaffed and working 12 hour shifts. So understandable they looked unhappy. It’s not cheap to stay here and you do expect a smile now and again
Reception staff were very helpful and polite.
We were not told before booking that we would not be able to eat in the main restaurant because we had our dog with us. Customers should be informed during the booking process so they can decide. The waiter at breakfast wasn’t a very communicator didn’t explain how the breakfast menu worked, it was as if he wanted us to choose the least as possible.
Location, ambience, facilities
Lower Slaughter is a stunning location. On arrival we are upgraded to their sister hotel just across the road in the village. The hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We were on a business visit to the village and the hotel let us leave the car in their car park after checkout so that we could attend a meeting without the worry of finding somewhere to park. The rooms were wonderful and the breakfast was most enjoyable.
Can't fault anything.
Great location on warden’s and monarchs way. Great room and dinner. Not surprisingly on the expensive side - but you have the slaughters to yourselves in the evening
Il giardino e l'atmosfera
It was just beautiful, the location and the building was stunning.
Just back from a long weekend at this country inn. This is our second visit as we came here about 5 years ago. It is in a glorious setting and we were blessed with excellent weather which was a bonus! Our room was well appointed and spotlessly clean though we had no maid service on one day despite not getting back to the room until about 4 pm, and had to chase for water which took a while to arrive. Service was generally very good and staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were good but we were a bit disappointed with some of the food in the restaurant in the evening. My husband’s steak was stringy and lacked flavour and we both had chips, which were dry. When the waiter asked how the meal was and was told not the best he shrugged and didn’t say anything. Other things were good though, so it is a case of being careful what you order. The Field Kitchen was great and the food delicious. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much.
Passed by this stunning Pub/Hotel a few weeks ago and decided to book it for lunch for my brother and husband. Parked the car in this wonderful location and walked round the garden area which was idilic. Walking into the bar i thought this is going to be fabulous but I was pretty underwhelmed when I walked inside to see there were no tables laid for lunch. It's a fairly pricey place and being handed our mains cutlery, literally screwed up in a napkin by the waiter and placed in the middle of the table whilst sharing some starters was not great. It kind of made it a no go place for me again. The food was ok. I asked for some sauce as the fish dish was very dry and the waiter just stood there and asked if I meant mayo or ketchup. No more to be said really.
Beautiful setting
Limited evening food menu
Food and location good
Restaurant service very slow, they are obviously short staffed. This hotel doesn’t give value for money.
Nothing! Receptionists were charming.. dining room staff atrocious! They shouldn’t be in hospitality business! Food shocking!
An excellent stay, lovely room and top level service from the team, excellent food and facilities
Location and the river
Way to many people at the in not staying there. Lines everywhere. Staff great but could not keep up. Place needs to LIMIT non guests in pub and outside we paid all this to stay there - fix immediately
The hotel is set in a beautiful village, but that is not enough, which is a shame. The exterior is very attractive, but the rooms are basic. Reception in the morning is nonexistent, the restaurant service is very slow and inefficient, and the restaurant itself feels dull, with a plain decor and poorly maintained facilities: worn tables, uncomfortable chairs. The food is very average and far too expensive for the poor quality on offer. Overall, this hotel is a disappointment, far too expensive and poor value for money.
The location
We had a very noisy room. Having paid for a deluxe it was on the ground floor and woken up at 5am by a vehicle reversing then various deliveries. Meanwhile friends upgraded to a deluxe room when we arrived at less of a cost and had a two bedroomed room on the first floor.
Dinner was beautiful and very well presented, room was well presented and very comfortable.
Couldn't fault the venue or the hotel.
Great central location in the Cotswolds. Staff were amazing especially those serving breakfast. Vicki was wonderful at reception and went out of her way to accommodate us. The Inn is an exclusive charming place where you can relax and enjoy the stunning views and surroundings of the Cotswolds. Perfect stay!
