Reviewed Jun 4, 2026We originally planned to stay for just one night, but ended up extending our stay by two extra nights. That says everything about how much we enjoyed Casa do Juncal. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of the old town, surrounded by beautiful historic streets and full of character. The house itself has a lot of charm and authenticity. A special mention goes to the lovely ladies serving breakfast every morning. Their service and friendliness made the experience even better. Breakfast was excellent, with freshly prepared eggs and bacon as well as delicious mini pancakes made to order. The S Suite was extremely spacious and very comfortable. The mattress by Pikolin deserves praise too — one of the best mattress brands on the Portuguese market and often used in five-star hotels. Airco was very quiet The garden is another big plus, a perfect place to relax and enjoy the evening atmosphere after exploring the city. We will be definitely going back
Minor points / wishlist: A few small details could be improved. Some of the standing lamps in the breakfast area could use a bit of maintenance, and the garden waste bags would be better hidden from sight. We also noticed that the shower bar became quite hot when using hot water. As a small wishlist item, breakfast would have been even better with fresh orange juice. A slightly larger TV could also improve the comfort of the suite given the viewing distance from the bed.
