We had a beach room, and the position was perfect. The room was clean. How ever, they only serve breakfast, and have no other facilities. There are plenty of options outside. There are bars to get drinks next door if you are on the beach, and some nice places to eat too. Having said that, it was just what we needed. The sunsets are beautiful. There is a shop that sells everything just 2 mins away. Don’t expect too much, and you will be happy.
Hi there, we stayed at the Tropicana for 24 nights in a deluxe sea view room. The room was everything we expected from the far east, we thought the breakfast was good and varied. The staff were very friendly, guang who seemed to have that many jobs, in breakfast cleaning windows and manning the beach bar could have done with some help. We really enjoyed or stay and priced to return next year but to or shock they doubled the price for the same room to 4,000000VND per night. We think this is way to high for a 2 star hotel that needs money spending on the pool and sun beds on the beach. Maybe the price is higher because it was busy from all the booking sites. We are pleased we stayed there but there is a limit to what you pay for a long stay holiday.
Great stay. Exactly what I was hoping. Not the highest of high luxury, but pretty darn nice, but if you’re shopping on hotels.com, and not going right to your luxury vacation planner, this should be perfect for you. Not knowing anything about Phu Quoc before going, it was exactly where I would want to be. Staff was incredibly nice. Easily walkable to plenty of restaurants, and centrally located to get anywhere else. Definitely recommend. And splurge for the waterview room. Well worth a few extra dong!
Great beach
There was problem with the AC on my first day but they fixed the problem with giving me a new room with fine working AC so problem solved. This property has beautiful beach, pool and staff were very friendly and polite. I’ll definitely want to come back here.
Absolutely recommended it's beautiful and clean quiet the pool is amazing walk out of our room and jump in set right on the beach the little lane is lovely a shop restraunts foot spa we stayed for a month we loved it so much staff couldn't do enough for us Kenny and Joyce truly looked after us
I concur with the good reviews and the bad. I had room on the beach, no complaints there, big room big bed. Beach was very quiet so had to myself most of the time. There's not much access to the beach unless your staying in one of the resorts along the strip. Resort doesn't have any amenities apart from breakfast buffet which I gave a miss. Plenty of stuff close by, bars, restaurants mini mart. I recommend canary bungalo for food you will walk past it next door to tropicana. I would stay here again.
Air conditioning is token change other room and the bathroom i don’t like
I do not understand how people have had bad experience here. So the thing is, I came here first to another hotel and planned to look for a resort while being here. I did check some hotels up on booking, but wanted to see them before booking. Tropicana I found by accident, when I was just wondering around and I liked it straight away. I stepped in, asked for a price and to see the room and have a walk to the beach - the staff was very friendly and showed me everything. I took some time to think about the offer because it was slightly more expensive than I was willing to pay and went to see other places that I looked up on booking... after seeing 2-3 places, I figured that I rahter pay this 10€ per night more. I booked a standard room at the second floor. What is good: 1. Staff is very friendly and helpful, especially a young guy at the reception. Always says hi and gives a smile. 2. Rooms are big and I like the view from the bathroom to the palm trees. 3. Rooms are big, did I say it already? :D 4. The walk to the beach is so beautiful. I did walk multiple times by the beach and passed other hotels, they did not seem to have such a nice garden as this hotel has. 5. The hotel has a private beach. First I was afraid that there won't be enough of chairs and I need to sunbath at sun, but somehow it had just enough and people were coming and leaving constantly and never was there a problem of not having enough of chairs. You also get towels from the hotel to go to the beach. 6. There are two massage stations nearby, need to walk like 50 m to get a massage by the beach for a good price 7. Many places around to grab a drink or eat fruits. 8. Around the hotel are nice places for dinner etc. 9. Curtains in the room are really good - they actually make the room dark, even with strong sun! If I need to point out something that needs improvment, then..: 1. Breakfast could be better... at least the fruit and juice section. It is a bit boring and small. The breakfast is extra 150k, so maybe next time I would not take the breakfast from here and eat outside. The breakfast is until 9.30, which is super early for me... would be good if it was at least until 10. 2. My room had some water damage on the wall, which looked a bit off.. and walls here and there are dirty - simple things to fix in oder to make the room nicer. Agh, before I forget, there is a very good laundry service nearby the hotel. To walk by the beach like 500-700 meters! Costs only 25k per kilo. I guess the hotel is also offering the laundry service, but not sure for what price. Would I come back here if I visit Phu Quoc again? Yes, for sure (but would skip the breakfast ;))
We stayed in one of the bungalows just back from the beach for 7 nights over New Year. We loved it - it has the perfect chilled tropical holiday vibe we look for. It’s perfectly located near beach bars and restaurants as well as everything you need on the nearby laneway and main road. The room was very clean and the staff are lovely and helpful. The only nitpick is the breakfast is a bit boring in its simplicity but who cares! We’ll be back.
Very old room and dirty. The fridge was not working and was dirty, internet is not working in many rooms, the breakfast Is so poor and sad but sad....the beach Is ok but the sea Is dirty . The woman at the reception so unpleasant! After 1 night I decided to leave and I was reimbursed only 50% of the deposit, this was such a dishonesty act from Vietnamese, that frankly speaking never happened to me. The neighbour are building so noisy all day, during the night noise and music from a bar next to the resort...
I visited this resort with very high expectations after seeing the pics but what disappointed me most was the lack of services,i asked for dinner and they told me that they serve only breakfast and in morning I asked for breakfast and they start giving excuses,so I went to the neighborhood tweeny restaurant where I get delicious breakfast and that's not all , despite being ill I had to carry my own luggage because there was no staff ,so I won't suggest this resort to anyone
This place was pure gold for me. I didn’t want to book some crazy expensive resort where you have no interaction with locals, so instead I booked a sad moldy room off the main drag that was terrible. I canceled that and came here—what a relief. It’s clean, comfortable, air conditioned, and on the beach and there’s a good pool, too, but it’s also in town so you can walk to dinner and everything you need. The staff are super nice. There’s a decent cheap breakfast and you can rent paddle boards. All this for $46-$60/night. It feels like sort of low-end luxury. High-end budget? Anyway, why only 4 stars? The beachfront isn’t the best and they don’t groom and clean it like at fancier resorts. The ocean here is full of trash, and it’s a bummer. I spent much of my paddle board time scooping plastic bags and bits and pieces out of the ocean—if you come to Phu Quoc, you should, too.
I wish I had stay there longer than one night. But I would recommend staying staying this resort. It is a great location that is not too far from the night market and locals street food vendors. There’s a beach access and you can walk to the sunset bar/club for a night cap if you like.
Very nicely located, convenient to everything. Has Great Restaurants within walking distance. Spacious,Super CleanBungalows located on or next to the Ocean. Wonderful Helpful staff from Dung the receptionist to the nice ground keeper. Properties are superbly manicured with Coconut,Mango, Banana Trees and beautiful tropical plants. Private Beach is clean and well organized. Overall you will be treated like a King and or Queen.
The lady at reception Jessica will demand for extra money and take pictures of you and shout at you that i wil call police. They didn't mention anything about late check out to us but call at 12:01pm and say even if you check out by 12:15 you pay 100k per hour. I understand if you tell about these charges at time of check in or call atleast 1 hour before check out time. You cannot just call and scare people and shout at them. Jessica is her name.
I was first time in 10/2016. It was excellent. Ms.Jasmine manager was very kind and gave me upgraded room on the beach. Terrace chairs and table were dirty and sticky. I called cleaners. I wanted to make the tea in the evening. That was when I noticed that the tea tray was dirty and loaded with human hair like in the barber shop, plus the tray, tea pot and cups were dirty, too. Photo!!! The next morning I brought the tea tray to receptionist and asked for the manager to show her. She was not there at the moment. When I saw Ms. Jasmine again, I told her that I deserve I night free for the inconvenience that I experienced. During the first night I got some kind of allergy on my back, chest and upper arm. I believed it was bed bugs. Mr. Jasmine offered me some cream. She helped me and put cream on my back and chest. She even bought the new cream the next day because the previous one was expired. I declined. The breakfast was not worth the money($87/day). No many choices for breakfast. The soup was excellent. I asked for boiled eggs and the staff did it. The staff is kind, the resort has a lot of potentials, but a lot of things started to fall apart. The nice small beach was dirty. My check out was fast. Ms. Jasmine offered me 1 night free on my next stay for the inconvenience that I had. I refused and said that I would never come to Tropicana again. The site photos are not the real representative of Tropicana now. Too bad. It was once a beautiful place to stay and enjoy.
The Resort is located in the Duong Dong area, along the Long Beach. It takes about 5-10mins drive to get to Phu Quoc Night Market (you can order a taxi via Grab app) or a 20-30mins walk along the main road Đường Trần Hưng Đạo, checking out shops/eateries en route. From the airport, it takes about 15-minute to get to the Resort. Do note that the hotel is located in a small lane from the main road (in the direction of the traffic, turn left into the small lane from Đường Trần Hưng Đạo ). I'd the Deluxe Room, which is sizeable and has basic necessities. Ensuite bathroom comes with a standing shower and see-through window with blinds. There is also a balcony with suntan benches, which are nice to relax in to enjoy a good read, nap, or simply doing nothing and gazing at the faraway sea. I was torn between watching the sunset here or getting down to the beach for a close-up view! The Resort has direct access to Long Beach so it was a short walk from the main lobby building to the beach area, passing by the swimming pool. If you prefer to be nearer to the beach, there're bungalows and beachfront room options available too. I read that this is a private beach but as the resorts in the vicinity are all lined cluttered, I do think the area is accessible by public as well. I didn't order any food at the Resort and settled my meals mainly at the Sunlight Restaurant located opposite the Resort, or at the Night Market or wherever I was during the day. There are 1-2 eateries nearby but more food options can be found along the main road. For activities, it is better to sign up for day tours to explore Phu Quoc as many places are difficult to get to and these tours usually pick up / drop off at the Resort. When I was there, there was a Hop On Hop Off tour bus service, which had a stop along the main road near Tropicana Resort. I am not sure if this was new or an unpopular option as many people did not seem to be aware of it then. And with its low frequency, it is important to catch the right timing. The bus is almost like a loop service covering a huge area, so it is impossible to finish all the stops within a day. Hence, do plan beforehand. During my stay, there were more domestic tourists and English was not widely spoken here and in Phu Quoc in general, versus other bigger tourist cities HCMC, Hanoi and Danang. Communicating slower with gestures will be able to get you through. Except for the blackouts due to the thunderstorms one night, my episodes, with dysfunctional light bulb, lizards/gecko and leaving keycard in the room, were resolved and the staff, particularly the younger staff, were always helpful.
Me and my girlfriend stayed here for a week in March 2020. I say 'unexpected' due to the circumstances. We were looking to travel Asia for 5 months and phu Quoc was not in the itinerary, but came here due to closures of borders and difficulty leaving Vietnam to other countries. On arrival the receptionist seemed friendly enough and also the man whom kindly took our baggage up to the room. The room was clean and tidy with a nice balcony, but seemed to be very hot on arrival, but thought the air-con may take a while to kick in. It turned out the air-con is pretty awful and we both woke up several times because of the hot temperature of the room. We asked them to fix it, which they attempted promptly, but to no avail. The hotel is right on the beach with a small beach bar. The food was very average but okay for a bowl of chips or quick snack at lunch time. Also, something to bare in mind is the charge for the shower/bath towels. Oddly beach towels are provided and changed every day but classic white shower towels are an additional 20,000 dong per day for 1 towel. We purchased two towels and found they had been taken away the next morning but not replaced. We had to go back downstairs to get new towels. This happened on two occasions. My advice would be to make sure the reception are aware you want the shower towels for the duration of your stay. The receptionists turned out to be very unhelpful, every question about things that were open and travel advice was answered with 'have you searched the internet' which was rather unhelpful given the covid-19 situation. We cannot comment on the breakfast as we never had it and we do accept we may have had a different experience at the height of a 'normal' season, however we are quite disappointed at how uninterested the staff were at a very quiet and stressful period for people throughout the world. Overall, we would say the surroundings, swimming pool and beach at the resort are very nice but there is room for improvement in other areas.
Would love to give this place a rating of 4 but unfortunately there was a few points which let the stay down. In terms of the positives, the location is great, right on the beach close to bars and restaurants, the room was lovely and big with 2 double beds and a huge balcony overlooking the sea (paid extra for ocean view) and the hotel grounds and pool were tropical. In terms of the negatives the service was not great. The staff spoke very very little English and were quite rude leading to confusion. Each morning the maids would knock on the door at 8:30 so we would say can you come back in 15 minutes once we’d left for breakfast but they never came back meaning the room was not cleaned and towels, water etc were not replaced. I called reception to ask for fresh towels, toilet paper and water and she did not understand and there was no apology either. Throughout the stay we never got hand towels and the toilet was not cleaned. The food and drink was quite pricey too for the quality. The service from the beach bar guy was good though, he was very smiley and helpful, probably the only decent staff member in the hotel. The beach is not like it is pictured, it is very cramped, sun beds basically on top of each other and the pool area needs some TLC!! The tiles were uneven, dirty and chipped and some of the sun beds were broken. Was only here for 3 nights as part of a longer Vietnam trip so overall enjoyed the stay but wouldn’t be happy if I was here for longer.
Don’t be fooled by the pics, won’t go into any detail as they left a birthday cake in my room on my birthday. But I wouldn’t stay here again..sorry
The property was prime location but accommodation was out dated. For the bathroom you only get bath towels and they were had and scratchy.
This place was a gem to find on Phu Quoc, we generally thought the island was an overcrowded disappointment. But this place helped raise our spirits. The staff were lovely and it was a good price for a gorgeous view of the sea. Only marred by building noise, but they couldn’t help that, only goes to demonstrate how much Phu Quoc is being spoiled. Needs eco tourism ASAP!
Deuxième réservation dans cet hôtel. Personnel sympathique et accueillant. Plage et piscine propres. Salle de fitness plutôt bien équipée. Bonne localisation.
Hotel was lovely. Would benefit from felt pads on the furniture as the room above us dragged heavy chairs across the floor during the night and from 6 am onwards. Breakfast catered for Russians and very little available for other cultures. Really nice staff and great room sizes Beach was lovely but too many sun beds crowded into small spaces. Easy walk into town.
We visited Vietnam this year with a group of friends 9 in total some married some single. One of our destinations was Phu Quoc Island which is a hidden gem. We stayed in the Tropicana Resort Hotel which on first glance looked looked with a beautiful entrance and reception. We were met by very friendly and helpful staff. We arrived mid morning and our rooms as with all hotels were not yet ready, however we were given some refreshments, and were advised we could use all of the hotels amenities including the pool, restaurant and private beach facilities and we given fresh towels. The short walk to to beach was in itself beautiful with tropical plants and trees, lanterns etc. The beach itself was stunning. Beautiful Golden Sand and clean beach beds to lie on. The hotel also had its own masseurs on the beach with proper massage beds. The massage for one hour cost 200000 Dong which equates to approximately £6.50. As 2pm approached we checked into our rooms. I thought the place couldn’t get much better until we got to our room which was beautiful. It was like a lodge with our on entrance. The room was very spacious with a Kingsize and a double bed. The room smelt beautiful, there was a minibar with beer and other drinks, a tv with many English speaking channels and Netflix. Free bottles of water were supplied everyday. The bathroom was spacious with a walk in shower. However we opened the large glass patio doors to find that our lodge was directly overlooking the beach and the views were stunning. We had a verandah and beautiful wooden deck chairs which turned to beds. At night we sat before dinner and had a drink watching the sun go down over the sea. The sunsets were unbelievable. The seawater was warm and you could walk out a bit which was good for families. The food in the hotel was very reasonable and we ordered snacks which included seafood for the equivalent of a few pounds on the beach, this was of course accompanied by several cocktails and beers from the beach bar served by friendly staff. We had a massage every other day which was fantastic and rejuvenated us. The masseurs were very skilled and they also moisturised our skin with Aloe Vera directly from the plant and used other oils. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel, it’s staff, the rooms and beach. There were other restaurants and bars close by and a laundrette which was very reasonable. We got all our clothes washed for our trip home for about £10. It was by far the most romantic hotel I have ever stayed in and our whole group loved it too. We will definitely be back.
pros - good location, not so far from shops - good view from the room (ocean view), near to the beach - good varieties for breakfast - excellent wifi connection cons - in the itinerary mentioned i am entitled for free airport service, when arrive, the receptionist mentioned the hotel FORGOT about the arrangement, and going back still cant arranged as the hotel said need to be arranged 24 hrs earlier (shouldnt they arranged for us?) - room got bug, me and my child got bitten twice in 2 days - fan in the room has a 'strange' sound - staff not really friendly
A value-for-money stay in Duong Dong with beachfront. The staff is very helpful too!
We like everything there, all good, The pool is nice. Nice beach. Good bed, Services are friendly
I got a great last minute deal for the pool view room. About a quarter of the peak season price so for this price there will be no complaints. The room is nice and spacious. Buffet breakfast is ok. Pool and beach are gorgeous. Plenty of nice eating places really close by. I would stay here again.
Nearby nigh market and a lot restaurant around . You can take a walk to night market
We really loved the property we had a beach bungalow right on the beach was beautiful. short distance from town. no need to get any closer to the town not much there only night markets and you only need to go there once. heaps of food places around the hotel with great street food and small restaurants. Staff were lovely and helpful. Only complaint was we bought a tour at hotel which they offer. Says you get a private car to for the tour. on Day small taxi picked us up . no room for 5 hours of drive tour and driver did not speak any English which I can understand but a little conversation can help or make the interesting. other taxi drivers we went with spoke English he only said pepper farm honey farm pearl place. We always get caught out with tours in Vietnam .though I had this one in the bag. next time.
Tropicana is located in the middle part of Phu Quoc island, approx. 25 km away from the south n the north. From here you can walk to the night market and Dinh Cau quite easily. Room is clean, staff is helpful and beach is just behind the resort. My room got sea view and a balcony with relaxing chairs which is a plus. Buffet breakfast was ok for me. Recommended!
Right on the beach. Very helpful staff with good English.
Good breakfast. Everything in the room working. Lovely greenery around.
Suck................................................
Amazing room on the beachfront, massage ladies on the beach out the front of hotel were terrific, pool was quite big and plenty of lounges.
The staff was very polite and friendly
Very quiet and peaceful. Good view and warm sea water. Nice place to relax!
The hotel is very clean and the staff is very friendly. The only unfortunate thing is the construction site directly west of the resort that can be very annoying during the morning hours - especially when you are trying to sleep in after a long night.
We had a great time at the Tropicana. The beach was nice. The pool was clean and well kept in a lush garden setting. Breakfast was great with a good selection of Asian and European items. Please try the pho in the morning, changing flavours every day . If I have to criticize the place it would be for the weak air conditioning in the room. The weather was extremely hot and the air conditioning just could not keep up. WiFi was ok. Overall a great experience would recommend the place. There slogan on the T-shirt says “as we care” maybe not the best translation.
Helt kanon hotel. God service.
This was my second stay at Tropicana, and what can I say, another amazing experience. The customer service is second to none, even after check out. Like an idiot I left my passport in my room and didn’t realise until I was at the airport, after a quick phone call they searched the room, found my passport and the manager of the resort personally delivered it to me at the airport in time for me to make my flight. Thank you so much. I’m looking forward to staying again.
The hotel is located perfect on Long Beach. It is a quit small resort with a very nice and friendly atmosphere. It is close to nice restaurants.
Bra!
People make you feel welcome. Location is good and the beach is perfect for a family fun.
Great stay. Nice rooms. Great location on the beach near city center, in walkingdistance to restaurants, bars and supermarkets.
Korruptoitunut hotelli jossa huono palvelu.
nice little hotel with a great pool and good stretch of beach. The rooms were lovely (I think I just had a standard double - which was very nice). There is building work going on next door - but you don't really see it and there wasn't much noise and so don't let that put you off. I got a great price for my room and so was completely happy

We have a confirmation email stated the shuttle service and breakfast was included, but the receptionist denied it said its was not included, even the prove has been shown. They will request you to communicate with the respective agency (hotel.com) due to the configuration error! Why they are not the one should communicate to solve the problem but is ths the customers!
Nice location and pool
Friendliness of staff, very helpful. The workers constantly cleaning the property. The pool was big and deep, the water temperature was nice, not too hot. Unfortunately due to the weather conditions I did not get a chance to go in the ocean. Too dangerous with the waves. Many restaurants nearby. The hotel also has one with good food options.
Service is very good. Free shuttlebus pick up at airport. Food is delicious and soup is changed everyday. Only wifi worked very slow. Every’s good
We loved this resort. Our room was clean and comfortable. The pool was great and the staff was very friendly.
Spacious clean rooms with nice views over pool and sea. Comfortable beds and everything you need in the rooms. Nice pool and right on the beach. Breakfast OK but not great - limited choice that did not change much but no problem for a few days stay.
Tropicana was great!! The photos don’t do it justice! We stayed in a pool view room which was lovely, clean and spacious. Fresh beach towels and bathroom towels every day. Water bottles too. Breakfast was varied and delicious. Beach area was clean with beds and a great place to watch sunset. The pool area is lovely too. We did have to get our own sun bed cushions out as others have mentioned but this isn’t a bid deal. It would be good if there was a bar or waiter by the pool - as we probably would’ve ordered some drinks. But this is only a minor thing!! There’s a pool table and gym equipment upstairs too which was a nice extra touch. We rented a motor bike from the hotel which worked well and was a good price. We loved it here so much we extended our stay!
The room was very clean and no bad smell in the room. bed, bed cover and pillow were also clean. Booked Deluxe Room(Pool View) but upgraded to ungalow(sea view) with free. very close to the beach within 5 meters. Staffs were very kind too. I'd like to stay here whenever I come to Phu Quoc.
We booked this hotel as a non-refundable and needed to change dates, the staff changed it as a favour & thats where it stopped for us. We are a couple and travel quite a bit so we stay at 3 - 5 star hotels. I researched and read reviews of Tropicana and thought it should be ok. We arrived into the beachfront room. It smelt like mould and was dark/damp inside, the view was more the old furniture crap they left outside in the back area as a storage. The wardrobe to hang clothes was damp and floor was sticky. We decided to go for walk along the beach and noticed other places were very run down. When we arrived back to the room, there were flies everywhere and noticed the hidden growing mould in the room behind the bedside table/bed. We complained and the staff switched us to a room in the front of the hotel. The next day my husband and I complained and Mrs Kylie said she had already done us the favour to change dates. She will not sorry or not refunding the difference of a cheaper room or the next night. The issue was a hygienic one and sleeping with mould in unhealthy and unacceptable. She laughed and told us she has another room (apartment on top of the mould room). She said the staff didnt have time to clean the mould. Unfortunately you need to treat mould not clean it. We left anyway and received no refund! This hotel is a rip off for 3.5 Star! Unfortunately most photos are of the other room, except the mould one which is the beachfront room
Good clean beach at hotel, not to close and not to far from main town
Right from the time we arrived we were treated extremely well. The rooms and facilities were well maintained and clean. We also tried the onsite restaurant and found the food a little to be desired as in for taste. Kind of bland or not what i was expecting
Really nice hotel, we had a deluxe room on the 4th floor, room was spacious and clean, came with a smart TV and the balcony was large. Good breakfast and it had changes on the menu for the 9days we were there. we didn't have dinner in the hotel as lots of good restaurants nearby. Pool area and private beach were excellent. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Only 2 things I would change would be the chairs on the balcony are really uncomfortable and a do not disturb sign would be good as we had housekeeping knocking to get in some days before 9am
Our stay was enhanced by an upgrade to the penthouse. But the most telling aspect of our experience was the exceptional attentiveness of the staff in the lobby, concierge desk, restaurant, etc. In every instance the staff went above and beyond to be welcoming and helpful. Help was also proffered without expectation of gratuity (one staff member insisted on rejecting a tip, saying it was his pleasure to be of assistance). This hotel tries harder.
Breakfast was nice Enjoy the beach and swimming pool Free airport shuttle was nice as well
We were taken aback driving down a dirt track to reach this hotel but were pleased on entering the grounds. The reception could be more welcoming but other than that it is very pretty. We took pool rooms which are a bit noisy first thing in the morning! But they were clean and comfortable and very roomy! Sadly, there were rats running backwards and forwards outside them which frightened the hell out of me! The hotel is in the beach which is tidy and has a few deck chairs. No one to man it though. So you have to go and find your own cushions. The beach immediately outside is tidyish but the further you walk it's unkempt. The pool has a few deckchairs but again it appears to be unmanned, so no cushions. Although it is cleaned every morning without fail. The food was ok if a little pricey in comparison to outside. Breakfast is mostly Asian probably due to the fact that it is mostly Asian guests at this resort, but there is an egg station and the coffee is good! DO NOT leave anything in your room that you don't want to loose. We put everything in the safe but my son left his very expensive ink pen in his journal zipped up in his bag and returned to find it gone. When we complained they just kept smiling and laughing and saying they have safe for our expensive things. We were very upset by the response and the loss. It's quite a distance to the town from here but taxis are relatively cheap about 50.000 dong which is just over a pound. It's an ok peaceful place to stay.
Excellent breakfast. Clean, helpful staff, large pool and spacious rooms with balcony.
Great staff. Clean new rooms/bungalows. Under new management.
Bad management
The environment of the hotel is nice, specially considering the ressort horror along the beach. Tropicana is simple and has lots of green and simple but nice looking bungalows. This is as much positives things as I can tell. I upgraded to a room about $55 because the one they initially gave us was right in front of the kitchen and right next to the cleaning storage room. The platform and the mosquito bed over the bed look like a nice decor, but they are essential. The windows don't close properly and all sort of bugs come in, from mosquitoes to cockroaches and water leakes when it rains. The mattress was the the worse one I have ever slept on (and I was a dorm backpacker for a long time). It had hills and valleys. The hills being wires just covered with a thin layer of fabric. When told the staff about the bed they said they will change it, later I saw they just flipped it over leaving it top the part covered with plastic supposed to go on the bottom. I complained again and they changed the mattress to a new (or newer) one, but still pretty terrible. Bathroom was pretty bad. No separate shower (just a shower head coming out of the wall), peeling ceiling and broken faucet. The staff was not helpful.
The staff try to please the guests but there is a gap bt week them and the western guests, they don't know how, the hotel Should hire westen consulting company to train their employees.
Very good location but many like this. Rioms very old.
