Beautiful and relaxing
The Admiral’s Inn was an excellent stop in our Antiguan vacation. The property is exceptional and full of the island’s history. Other than the grounds crew getting early starts to their chores, the stay was quaint and quiet. The surrounding Nelson’s Dockyard area is awesome! Take the short hike to Fort Berkley for incredible views. We had a beautiful meal at the on site restaurant for our anniversary. Another night we walked the short distance to town for a local meal. Overall I highly recommend this hotel to anyone!
Stunning
Excellent location in English Harbour. Delicious food, loved the lobster with garlic butter! Staff was incredibly helpful.
Good points: Great location with bars and restaurants along the road. Loved being able to get the free boat to the main restaurant in the morning, and the ride to the beach. Service was fab. View from the room was lovely, perfect to watch the comings and goings of the boats. A particular highlight of my stay was a fantastic massage - well worth the extra cost. Not so good points: As is the nature of the hotel, it's all a little dated, with features needing an update. Little things in the room showed lack of attention to detail, e.g. the shower pressure was rather weak, the hairdryer didn't work (though there was a spare!) and the alarm clock was set to the wrong time and would occasionally go off. Also the WiFi was intermittent, rather annoying when the main form of communication with the reception was through WhatsApp.
The hotel sits within the UNESCO world heritage site of Nelsons Dockyard which creates such unique experience being surrounded by history and the warm tropical climate one hopes to find. Admirals Inn was very welcoming and comfortable as if it were a home away from home.
Great location to English Harbour. Great beaches and great people.
Stunning, with a lot of history!
The Admiral’s Inn gives us a wraparound Antigua welcome! We’ve stayed there before but this time we were delayed and had missed our dinner reservation… but if it was a problem, the staff were still as charming as ever, the dinner was delicious and our room, number7, had been renovated to a high standard since our last trip. All wonderful, thank you!
The staff were particularly helpful storing some provisions and carrying all luggage to nearby location for our boat rental.
Superb location - great service - charming rooms
Great views. No hot water. Noisy fridge. Noisy aircon. Not up to the standard of other similar hotels
The Admiral's Inn and Gunpowder Suites provided an unforgettable start to our honeymoon in Antigua. The customer service was exceptional—warm, attentive, and incredibly accommodating. The property itself was charming and impeccably maintained, offering a perfect blend of comfort and elegance. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to begin our journey. Highly recommended!
An incredible property. So many restaurants and bars in walking distance. The 18th century buildings are amazing and so unique. The staff has been wonderful. They made our bad situation of being stuck without a flight for a few nights an adventure to remember. If we come back to Antigua this is exactly where we will go!
Excellent boutique property with great food and service.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Food was very tasty too
Enjoyed my time and the staff was awesome!!
Just a great place to stay. Staff is so friendly and so attentive.
The property is lovely. The staff is very accommodating. I would recommend staying in the garden stuites. The restaurants are good and offer vegan options. The bartender Reggie offered delicious drinks and Shama the asst mgr arranged a changing room after we checked out in order to swim and have lunch while waiting for our next boat accommodations on another property a few hours later. I would stay again.
The online pictures don't do it justice to just how beautiful Admiral's Inn and Gunpowder Suites are. The buildings are late 1700's and early 1800's. It was such a cool step back in time! There are several (at least 15) places to walk to and get different foods (Italian, Carribean, Seafood and more). The best restaurant hands down was Pillars at Admiral's Inn. Lunch at Boom (Gunpowder suites pool) was good also. We stayed on the Gunpowder side for 4 nights. After two nights we asked to be moved to a pool view room. They accommodated us mid-day even though they would have to re-clean our current room. Thank you, Admiral's Inn. We will be back!
We had a lovely, relaxing time at the Admiral's Inn. We loved staying in the historic district! Thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the staff members, particularly Reggie behind the bar. What a personable and interesting man!
Ok
Lovely place in a terrific location.
Just the perfect stay for a quiet peaceful recharge.
Lovely peaceful period property with great restaurants and friendly service. Pillers and Boom both served great food with friendly service. Also easy walk into town for local restaurants. Highly recommended for something different to the resort hotels elsewhere on the island.
Food was great. Room was extremely comfortable. And everything was very clean.
I would say a big Thank you! to Shama(Mgr),Cecile,I believe her name is tamara. It wasn’t a pleasure trip, we were at a funeral and Shama, hospitality is on a different level. She checks in with me and my sister to see how everything is going. The staff is great! It starts with great leadership. Upgraded of the rooms is needed, I wish I can take Shama, with me to work in my company! Great job everyone!
Business Traveler room needs up grading Standard room is way too small. Bathroom area too small. Ideal for a child or teenager. Room doors loocks need to be upgraded. But overall was good.
A very nice hotel, to stay for a few days as we did before returning home. Courteous, helpful and friendly staff Various dining options and other nearby restaurants
First visit to Antigua and chose the Gunpowder Suites/Admirals inn for our stay. I’m so glad we did, the staff are amazing and nothing is too much bother they attend to your every need and more!
Lovely historical property with an old-world, relaxed-classy vibe. Great staff, great food, quiet. Highly recommend.
Wonderful hotel. The perfect stay
Fabulous setting in English Harbour. Amazing restaurants are within walking distance. I would definitely stay here again. Boom restaurant serves excellent food.
Beautiful location, wonderful history and surroundings. Plenty of choice of restaurants and bars to walk out to. Staff in Boom restaurant, particularly Shareen were lovely however staff in Pillars blew hot and cold so tended not to eat there. Room was rustic and spacious (loft3) but lacked insulation/ sound proofing, maybe due to age of building and restrictions but able to hear next door’s conversation and everything going on outside so awoken every morning early, owner did rectify some of the outside noise once bought to his attention but surrounding noise still a problem although it is a working dockyard so came down to our choice of room which although the largest was not the best for relaxing in. Overall a lovely place, great atmosphere, would recommend.
Fab historical area. Mosie are about watch out
The harbour view superior room was very good but the windows leaked when it rained, even when closed. The staff were really great and the food at pillars restaurant excellent. We liked the proximity to the bars and restaurants around Falmouth harbour but guests should be aware this is not your typical sea and sand resort. This property is all about the historic feel, although Pigeon beach is a 15 min walk and there is a boat to take you to Galleon beach and the hotel’s small pool across the inlet.
We loved our stay and are looking forward to another visit.
This was our latest stay of many. We love the Inn. This year however we were very impacted by the noise from nearby Abracadabra until 3 am. We have complained by separate email. If possible we will now always request a room or cottage shielded from this noise until the authorities do something about it.
Beautiful setting for our week in Antigua. We stayed across the water in the Gunpowder Suites. Loved taking the boat back and forth for breakfast/dinners. Enjoyed being by the pool and Pillars restaurant for lunch. Only minor "complaint" was that service tended to be on "island time" (i.e. quite slow.) Other than that, really enjoyed our stay.
When we arrived at the property there was no one at the desk so we had to go down to the restaurant Boom near the reception to ask to check in. We were checked in and weren’t given our voucher for the Wifi we had to ask for it. Nor was the welcome drink offered we had to ask for it. The room was very clean and nicely decorated for Valentine’s Day however there was oddly no TV in the room. There were no robes as advertised in the booking. The staff were all very nice however and the rooms were clean and well taken care of. The breakfast ends at 10 AM so we got lucky showing up at 9:50 Am For then to still serve us breakfast. We had an OK time. I just recommend anyone staying here should wait for a good deal or stay at another hotel worth the price.
This is a lovely place to stay. The restaurant is outside (protective coverings) and the food was very good. The staff were friendly and helpful. The property is divided into two parts, separated by water; they have a water taxi shuttle that goes back & forth very frequently. The property is on the grounds of Nelson's Dockyard, so you're in the middle of an historical site. Really enjoyed my stay.
Stunning piece of history mixed with harbour location and access to modern facilities on pool side
One of the best hotel experiences I've had in my life. I have traveled extensively around the world, and this hotel was perfect. Excellent quality and price. The staff was just amazing and our room was extremely clean and beautiful. I will definitely be going back in the next few years!
Such a beautiful spot. Fantastic staff, great spa treatments, lovely food. Shame we had to move rooms because the night club across the water decided to go for it until 6am. But we were very happy that the hotel helped us move. We had a mix up on check out with bill etc which was a little frustrating after such a lovely stay. Thanks for having us!
Step back into 18th century seafaring England and enjoy an important port in the West Indies! The historical preservation of historical structures with just enough modern comfort makes this a one of a kind place to stay!
Tranquil atmosphere, beautiful campus, excellent food & service. Definitely would recommend.
Very unique property in an old world setting. Need to be careful which room you get as some are real nice and a couple are not so good.
Gorgeous location, awesome staff - truly wonderful.
Excellent stay. Welcoming staff. Lovely room. Views to die for over Nelson’s Dockyard, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Learnt something new every day. Food great. Infinity pool at Boom wonderful. Thanks
Amazing stay
A certified UNESCO site that we got to sleep at. What an incredible adventure. We stayed in the loft and it was worth the extra to have the lovely sitting room that opened up right int the harbor. Highly recommend this place. And be sure to grab a table in front of the sea near the kitchen where you can watch the fish and sting rays hunt!
Amazing unique property definitely will return
An extraordinary place to say, right amidst the amazing Nelson's Dockyard, yet offering all the facilities of a wonderful boutique hotel. The swimming pool was perfect, and the view from our cottage, over the water to the historic pillars, was exceptional. The cottage too was quietly superb, offering every comfort in an unstated way. A great, fun place to stay in an extraordinary setting.
Peaceful and quiet, no tv screens, beautiful setting, lovely staff, thank you
Everything was great - however the room I was given was on the top floor and the head room was very restricted on one side as the ceiling was very low. This meant I couldn’t fully utilise my room as I would had the ceiling been higher. Apart from that, the service, condition and stay has been very good! I would definitely come back but hopefully not the same room…
Clean comfortable and convenient
Lovely room & brilliant staff
Stunning setting in unique historical building in a UNESCO world heritage site accomodating the luxuries of a boutique hotel
It is not very often that you can stay in a UNESCO world heritage site! Beautiful.
Really fantastic place to stay in English Harbour. Highly recommended and very friendly staff. Great vibe and live music at Admirals Inn where you can also stay and where check in happens. Great complimentary boat and or car service (if after 7pm) over to Gunpowder house which is more secluded than Admirals. Lots of bars & restaurants nearby in walking distance, and right next to Nelson’s dockyard. Because you’re in the harbour this isn’t a great place for ocean swimming access although it’s likely easy to find a beach nearby with a car. We stayed for one night to end our trip but a few more would have been lovely.
Lovely hotel. The grounds are so nice you can walk around at night and not feel remotely scared. Theres also a lovely hike trail. Gunpowder bar has the most awesome staff. Shouts out to Michele and the manager. All were amazing. Infinity pool was awesome. Amazing views. It's a different feel from the glam hotels and a welcoming rustic feel, with a few modern touches. Loved my stay.
Beautiful property paired with the most gracious, kind, wonderful staff. The Inn itself is a stunning piece of history and to be able to spend a few days there felt like going back in time. Would highly recommend.
Wonderful staff, excellent colonial building.
Nice little hotel. The pool and restaurant/bar are wonderful. The staff was amazing, especially Montana and Shama. They were both very attentive and helpful as well as friendly. They made you feel welcomed and at home. The take aways: my 'king' bed was 2 twins pushed together, as I was traveling alone it wasnt too much an issue and the wi-fi at the admiral side where I stayed, in the back of the room was very spotty or nonexistant, maybe bc its a thick stone building? But I would reccommend this place to others and would stay there again!
This place is nestled within an historical site. I enjoyed the boat ride to the beach.
Beautiful location. Very hospitable. Good was great!
M
Admiral’s Inn was an amazing place to stay! The moment we arrived we were completely taken care of. We got escorted to our rooms, we had breakfast right away, and relaxed by an amazing infinity pool. The food we had was great, fresh, and organic. They really captured the island life and we had an amazing stay!
Amazing.
Beautiful historic building, some really friendly and some not so friendly staff. Great food for NYE dinner. Nice area, and the boat shuttle is actually very convenient and the drivers were very friendly. However apparently you’re not allowed to use any facilities after checkout, the beach on site isn’t really one- it’s a boat trip from the main building to the small pool, or the better beach. Very expensive; comparatively poorer value for money even for Antigua.
Perfect location and setting!
Pros: The location staying at Nelson's Dockyard was amazing. The history and architecture of the surrounding buildings was nice to see. Unfortunately due to covid most dockyard things were either closed or felt underwhelming, but that is no fault of Admiral's. They offer a free water taxi shuttle across the bay to Gunpowder Suites, which has the more lively bar scene and also the only pool. Free parking, strong wifi signal, hot shower, great iron were all a plus. The room is as it looks in photos so it was quaint and does have a beautiful harbor view. Cons: I stayed in the standard room, which is the smallest of all rooms and is located on the top floor (or otherwise known as the 3rd floor/attic). There is no elevator so individuals who have issues with stairs should not select this room. The room is listed as 160sq ft, and definitely feels extremely tiny. Part of the room is unusable due to the third floor roof trusses slanting inward preventing you from stand up in a portion of the room. The room is listed as sleeping two, but i would certainly not recommend this room for two people unless all you are going to do is sleep in the bed. The restroom only fits one person and does have the largest lip (i.e., riser to step into the shower i ever saw). The riser Unfortunately cuts the standing height of the shower so individuals who are tall such as 6 feet and above will feel claustrophobic in the shower. The room had no TV, refrigerator, or safe :(
The room, the staff, and the view were all amazing. 10/10 would go back tomorrow if I had time
It was fantastic! The rooms were amazing - clean, Great views, spacious and loved the four poster beds with netting. The staff were so hospitable. Fantastic!
Lots of character Very cozy room
Admiral's Inn is a magnificent hotel in the English harbour. Was my first time in Antigua and I couldnt have chosen a better place to stay. Couldn't recomend highly
Very cute hotel, and a very nice and relaxing area. Exactly what i'd hoped for... Negatives were I did not have hot water when I showered in the morning. Breakfast is 15usd and includes a dish, coffee/tea, and a juice. When I asked for a cappuchino and then an americano (and no juice) I did not expect to be charged extra.
We had an amazing stay the food and service both at Boom and PIllars was excellent. We have rebooked for march 20
Perfectly situated in the middle of Antigua's English Harbour and nearby Falmouth Harbour with lots of great paces to eat nearby iof you are staying at the Admirals Inn for a few days.
The property and staff were excellent. Just needed a larger toilet.
The facilities around Admirals Inn are amazing and one of the most beautiful places we have stayed at. However, the room we stayed in was very small, not helped by the sloping roof which meant to reach the other side of the bed you had to crouch. The bathroom was also tiny and made it hard for two people to coexist. We also found a lot of hair in our shower from the previous tenants which is never acceptable. There are other rooms available and these do look much nicer, however for the amount per night charged you would expect 5 star facilities anywhere in the world. The restaurant and pool, which are 5 star facilities, are accessible by the general public so our review has to be entirely based on the hotel room. Staff overall was very friendly.
The location was fabulous and the staff couldn’t have been more attentive.
Great hotel in fabulous historic location. Friendly and helpful service with nice rooms. Could do with a mirror in the bedroom however. Banana pancakes for breakfast were wonderful. Plenty of nearby bars and eating places. Very convenient courtesy boat across bay and to beach.
Great hotel. Perfectly located. Staff were wonderful.
The historic character of the buildings and exceptionally friendly staff/service
Very relaxed vibes with great staff!
Charming hotel in a lovely historic location. I would return.
Charming and convienent to everything in area. Room had updated amenities and old world charm
Lovely location easy access to English Harbour and Falmouth. Helpful and friendly staff. Excellent restaurants. A brilliant place to stay.
Loved the hands on nature of the owner Paul and his friendly approach. All the staff were really helpful too. Food delicious. My cousin Susan joined us after crossing the Atkantic in Poppy - Status Row. We all loved the tasteful decour and historical significance and outlook. Beautifully renovated hotel.
Liked the historical and cultural aspect. Great service. Very expensive though.
It was excellent in all respects. Nelson’s Dockyard is a special historical spot and the Admirals Inn sits elegantly in the Dockyard The views from my room was stunning and the professionalism, charm and courtesy of the staff made my stay ready enjoyable. I would single out Emma who was Acting Manager during my stay. Everything was dealt with calmly and efficiently - Dortha dole a bit sticky - and she was a delight to meet. I will definitely stay at Admirals Inn again
I stayed at the Gunpowder Suites for 3 nights, which had a lovely view overlooking English Harbor. The staff at the hotel were great - Cecil was very kind and went the extra mile to help with whatever was needed. Kemlin and Linda were also great to help book local activities. I would only caution who the hotel works with when booking certain activities. For instance, do not book Sean from Soul Immersions diving. I booked him through the hotel and he confirmed, but on the day of the dive, he never showed up and didnt bother to call or tell me in person that he was cancelling the dive. Luckily, Linda was great and helped me book Tony from Dockyard Divers that very day. Additionally, they arranged a taxi with Oris to take me to the airport. After 15 minutes of waiting for Oris to show up, I had to switch to another taxi, because I couldnt wait any longer. Oris had driven me the day before to Stingray City, but he was also 20 minutes later picking me up after our arranged pick up time. I would caution the hotel to be careful who they do business with, as it lowers the overall impression of the hotel and enjoyment of the guest.
